LIVE

i think one of the worst parts about the possibility of bongbong marcos becoming president again is that there are victims from the ferdinand marcos regime that are still alive and watching their worst nightmare happening all over again.

these people experienced severe torture, rape, harassment, beatings, and long imprisonment for refusing to stay silent back then and with bongbong marcos becoming re-elected, there traumas and experiences are being silenced again.

for their sake, we can’t let another marcos become president.

sending strength to all filipinos reading this. we are in a very dark time and we absolutely do not deserve this trauma we’re collectively experiencing because of the current presidential elections.

i was only 16 when president rodrigo duterte was elected. i witnessed news of people being killed by police numbering in the thousands. i was also 17 when i read about kian’s death at the hands of policemen who planted a gun on his corpse and claimed he was a drug carrier.

in 2018 i entered university full of excitement and hope and a drive to change the nation for the better. i only experienced 2 and a half years of being on-campus when the covid pandemic struck. now, i’m supposed to be graduating and the government’s current pandemic response has not allowed face-to-face classes.

6 years is a terribly, terriblylong time.

in these past few months with the Leni-Kiko campaign, i have felt hope for the first time in a long time. i could see that this country was indeed desperate for change and the collective action across different sectors of our society. and then, i felt that hope dashed last night with the announcement of the unofficial vote count.

i won’t discourage you from feeling all the grief and anxiety you need to feel. but in these coming days, we have to pick ourselves back up.

the marcos family’s return without any sense of apology is not honorable. their manipulation of fake news to clear their name and rewrite history is not honorable. bongbong marcos being permitted to run as a presidential candidate is not honorable. the handling of the voting process yesterday is not honorable.

the way they spit on our democracy is not honorable.

it’s time for us to rise up again because the power has always been with the people. we absolutely have to fight for it.

on behalf of the people killed during martial law. on behalf of the people killed under the duterte regime. on behalf of the student-activists, farmers, laborers, fisherfolk, environmentalists, artists, journalists, and urban poor who are the most vulnerable targets if a marcos presidency comes.

we have up-ended a marcos presidency before and we can do it again.

if need be, see you all in EDSA

Hey guys, I know I don’t post much in this blog anymore and I am not exactly sure who will see this but I’m posting this because today is the Philippine Presidential Elections and, just like what other people here are already saying, we’re fighting for our lives right now.

We are fighting against the return of dictatorship in the country. We are fighting against the continuation of corruption and injustice. We are fighting for a better future. We are fighting, so that we may finally know peace.

Today, multiple issues regarding the elections have come up. Vote-Counting Machines (VCMs) “malfunctioning”, SD cards missing, people getting PAID for voting for the dictator’s son and his party, and more. Even the commission in charge of ENSURING FAIR ELECTIONS is failing to fully understand the grasp said issues, wasting people’s time and votes.

If you do find this post and read it, all I ask is that you share the news about the Philippines. Anything about today (May 9, 2022),
about Halalan 2022/PH Elections 2022,
about BBM and the Marcos Family,
about Leni Robredo, Kiko Pangilinan, Chel Diokno and the rest of Robredo’s senatorial slate (+ Neri Colmenares),

and if this is inspires you to learn everything else, then please do.

We are asking for your help, not in votes, but in sharing what is happening here to the rest of the world. Whatever happens, whatever the results are, we want the whole world to see what is going on. (But thank you to the foreign news outlets who have been speaking on this).

All the Filipinos are asking for is a fair government, where lives are recognized and uplifted. We cannot be kept in the dark again, we have had enough.

And if we need to meet in EDSA once again, then so be it.

I have been crying for the past 3 days. I believe that aside from the faulty VCMs, the multi-million widespread disinformation projects that they’ve been doing has misled other Filipinos’ thinking by spreading fake news and history revisionism has lead people to vote for the Mar/cos and Du/ter/te tandem. I’m so frustrated and angry that they took advantage of the ones who simply has no means to verify these kinds of information. I’m so disappointed at the ones who has the means to research but simply turn a blind eye.

I fear for historial revisionism. That those who died under the Marcos regime will only go in vain. It sickens me that they will do absolutely anything to get their power back and for what? To revise history put it on their favor?

Given that they will now have their power back, we will continue to fight for a just and better government. So I ask the very few people here to follow me to share what is happening here in the Philippines with the rest of the world for awareness.

If you’re a fellow Filipino who plans to go abroad because of all this shit, tandaan na mas malapit ang kalsada kaysa lumipad papunta sa ibang bansa (remember that the streets are closer than any other country). We will take it to the streets if we have to.

Just a few days after elections and there’s already a spread of rumors about r/ed-ta/gging. None of them are confirmed yet it does not lessen the fact that majority of the Fili/pino y/outh right now fear for their lives as our freed/om is being th/reatened. The fact the I have to censor this post because I’m afraid of being traced already says how I feel.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. That maybe, just maybe, we were wrong and they can be good l/eaders too. But fear still reigns over my mind and heart.

I cry for my parents, my comm/unity and my younger siblings. We are not rich. We have no prot/ection if we become targ/ets of their op/pressio/n. I worry that what we have sacrificed as a family up to this point will go to waste because in this lea/dership, only the rich thrives. We have no place in this adm/inistrat/ion.

Our studentry is also affected. We’re figh/ting to regain motivation within ourselves to continue studying despite the fact that someone was ele/cted without regards to his edu/cation.

This is just the beginning. I cry for this country. I want to shout for help, for redemption, but the devil has won again.

Apparently, there are no irregularities in voting turnouts. The “68-32” pattern seems to good to be true, but that is what happening.

If we lose this election against the son of the dictator, that means we failed to protect pur country. Disinformation and historical revisionism won. The EDSA Revolution is a failure.

I feel so sorry for my fellow Filipinos, especially those who are living in poverty. To our farmers, fishermen, and laborers who are hoping for a change.

I’ve been crying for days. I missed a lot of classes and school works. Everything is too hard to take in.

There is only one thing that keeps me going, and that is hope. During the campaign and elections, I have seen the spirit of volunteerism and patriotism of the woke Filipinos.

“Ang namulat, hindi na muling pipikit.”

As for me, if things come to worst, I will never accept him as a our president. But I will watch him. I will criticize him. By all means, I hope he will prove me, us, wrong.

I was not able to take a screenshot of the tweet (which I should have) nor was I able to save it (which I should have), but I will try to look for it.*

Things have been circulating online about for the elections itself, it has started in the precinct level palang. There are photos of people being given multiple ballots to shade, watchers (who are not allowed to vote or to aid in voting) shading ballots themselves or directing the person in shading**, and more daw. DAW. (operative word is daw in case this gets out and i am tracked down)

So if PPCRV getting results consistent to the ones from COMELEC mismo, I think it’s because they are also taking into account ballots that should be invalid. Therefore, whatever recount has been made and will be done is already doomed to find no irregularities.

*will update with the tweet if i find it

**one person said that they called out a watcher who she saw was doing this (the watcher was her neighbor), and the watcher said that what they were doing is not illegal because they are not going to get caught.

Find a place for empathy.

I admit that I am still angry at BBM supporters, but this is still a very important thing to remember. No matter how different it is to you, these people have a reason—at least the ones who voted for BBM because they actually believe that he can improve the country—and it is important to listen to them.

Understand where they are coming from and work from there.

I am personally calling any and all germans on Tumblr to please translate this article here:

Someone replied with the article under this main tweet:

But the one who replied said that the newspaper shown is considered “rubbish” in Germany as it is more of a tabloid, so they suggested the article from faz.net.

If it isn’t too much, I would really like to know more about how the current issues here are being perceived by others outside of the Philippines, and if you can provide more context to the main tweet shown above.

PSA

(Long post but this is important so please read)

For those living outside of the Philippines and are currently unaware of the ongoing situation in my country, we just had our elections yesterday on May 9 (Monday) and results have been coming in since last night. Bong Bong Marcos, the son of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos is in the lead for president while his VP candidate Sara Duterte, daughter of the current president, also in the lead. And this is bad. REALLY BAD.

I can’t give a complete and comprehensive summary of Ferdinand Marcos’ rule in a single post but this is all you need to know. A lot of people were killed, tortured, and raped during his time, and those were only the ones who were found and accounted for. We still have so many missing victims until now that we call them the Los Desaparecidos or The Disappeared. The Marcos family also stole about billions from the country and her people. They literally lavished in their homes while children were dying from starvation.

Already foreign investors are pulling out which can mean really bad things for our economy which not many of us can afford right now.

And as for Sara Duterte if you’ve heard of her father and the War on Drugs then you’d understand why we’re so apprehensive of having another Duterte have a seat of power in the national government.

As of now there are already allegations of the elections being rigged. Some might think it’s a wild conspiracy theory but with the history of these political dynasties and the corrupt system of our government I can’t help but agree that something’s wrong.

Because before elections even officially closed there have already been reports of about 1800 faulty Vote Counting Machines (VCM) , the highest number in election history with VCMs rejecting ballots or malfunctioning effectively delaying the voting process by hours which resulted with registered voters being turned away by COMELEC because they didn’t make the cut-off of 7 p.m.

And speaking of COMELEC (they’re basically the committee in charge of handling the elections) their handling of the whole elections is just downright incompetent and shady. There have been allegations of ballots being manipulated and only a few hours has passed since the tallying of votes has begun and somehow they’ve covered more than 85 % of the precincts just not all over the country but also overseas. Which is questionable considering that about 50% of the country’s VCMs are broken.

There is also a noticeable trend with how Leni Robredo, Marcos’ most serious opposition who beat him for the position of VP in the 2016 elections, always has 47% of the total transmitted votes for Marcos during every election update.

(tl;dr)

I know that Tumblr can be very Western centric but this is serious. The elections were badly handled from the start and it looks like we’re heading towards another Marcos administration thanks to a combination of Filipinos who would rather deny our history and corrupt government officials. Please help us keep a spot light on the Philippines because we’re not going down without a fight if Marcos wins.

wandering-scavenger:

Don’t Lose Hope.

After watching our candidate, her team, and supporters put all their work, effort, time, money, and tears into the 2022 Elections, it feels like a dark shadow has been cast on our country again and there’s nothing we can do about it.

I’m so sorry to the families who were victimized by the Marcoses. I’m so sorry to those who died trying to stop a ruthless and corrupt dictator, only for his son to wind up as President of our poor and starving country. I’m sorry to victims of the Marcos family, to those victims whose bodies were found and those whose bodies are lost in a place that their loved ones cannot find. I’m sorry to those who witnessed Martial Law and celebrated when Ferdinand Marcos was ousted, thinking their children won’t have to suffer the way the Filipinos did in the 70s-80s. I’m sorry to those in lower socioeconomic status families who voted for Leni with hopes that she would be able to bring about change as our President. I’m sorry to everyone who hoped for a better future, only for evil to prevail.

Our hearts ache. Today, I watched my 81 year old grandfather sit on his own in a depressed mood because he couldn’t believe that after doing his part in history by joining the EDSA revolution and voting on May 9, he was watching history repeat itself. He is too old to worry…but he worries because he cares the future of his family and country when he is gone.

But this is only the beginning. Before things will get better, they will get worse. But things can still get better. We cannot lose hope, because that’s exactly what our corrupt government wants.

If you are lucky enough to be in class A and B, please do your part to help the less fortunate. We will suffer, but we will not suffer as gravely as those who live hand to mouth on a daily basis. It is easy to think that they might deserve it because they were the bulk of the voters who supported the Marcos family’s return. But the truth is that their return has been carefully prepared for, for decades. Fake news, vote buying, poll manipulation, cronyism, corruption, political dynasties. The real evil lies in those with power and privilege who are educated enough to know better but choose not to do better. There is a reason why education is normally given the smallest budget, because these corrupt politicians benefit from the less fortunate’s ignorance and miseducation.

The day will come when we are called to rally again and fight for our freedom. Until then, do not lose hope and do not forget to act as the miracle in other people’s lives. The evilness of our government should not push us to tolerate and enable such behavior or worse, be as uncaring and without compassion as they are. Our country can be better if we continue to push ourselves to be better and demand our government to be better.

God bless you guys. To the non-Filipinos, please pray for our country or help spread the news about what is happening to us. We really need it.

I am too frazzled right now to check for more—will continue to do so once I have calmed down—but here:

I know there’s more.

I know there SHOULD be more.

Let every news outlet existing talk about the Marcoses,Marcos Sr’s Martial Law,MarcosJr’sdisinformationcampaign, and everything else in between.

Let them talk about Leni Robredo and her work as a lawyerrepresentingmarginalized individuals and as the Vice President of the country,
about Kiko Pangilinan and his advocacyin improving the agricultural sector of the country,
aboutChelDioknoand how he and his father Ka PepeDiokno have made contributions in human rights and pro-Filipino economic legislation over the years,
aboutRisa Hontiveros and how she has constantly been advocating for Filipinos’ quality of life and even authored the Mental Health Act, the Safe Spaces Act, and the Raising of the Age of Sexual Consent Act,
about the other members of Robredo’s senatorial slate and other candidates who chose to run for a position in the government FOR THE PEOPLE.

Let them talk about how voting for Robredo and the others is not about bringing these people into power per se, but about the good governance they represent.

Let them talk about the Filipino people—not as the brainless sheep who deliberately chose to be ignorant, but as victims of a long-running and deeply-ingrained campaign that takes advantage of their ignorance and does everything to keep them ignorant.

Let the whole world know what is going on in the Philippines. We need them to watch us. We need them to listen to us.

We aren’t an isolated case. Like many others have already said, disinformation can happen to anyone, regardless of the country you are from. So read, watch, and listen.

Because your home can be next.

I found this a while back and it contains some martial law related articles and readings for those interested.

On top of all of these, the current administration skyrocketed the nation’s debt to Php 12.68 trillion (US$ 242.51 billion). intl media will pin this on filipinos IT IS NOT THE MASSES’ FAULT. they were continully fed lies, tied and forced to accept this conditioning, and witheld from proper education. the government of Duterte, the Marcoses and all their friends, and the educated, the elite who partook in this are complicit in allowing this kind of elections. The people are not to be blamed and frankly any blame i see on them from foreign media i will count as racism. its the last thing we need from colonizer fuckers.

As much as I am angry with BBM supporters, especially because I personally know a handful of people who are part of this group, I agree that this is NOT just the Filipinos’ fault.

It is so easy to question and ridicule the people who voted for Marcos, Duterte, Padilla, Tulfo and more, but people outside the Philippines (and inside, tbh) need to understand that the logic and reasoning of their supporters is reflective of the country’s political culture—and how political dynasties (and other influential personalities) can take advantage of it. These people are crafty when getting the sympathy of people, do not discount their ability to do so.

While difficult to do, it is important to listen to these people, and try to understand why they think the way they do and where this support for these public figures is coming from. Because it is through this that we can see what needs to be changed in the system and how we can help in achieving that change.

So yes, I am mad at the supporters of the Uniteam, but I will still fight for them. They are still Filipinos, and if the state of things do worsen, they will not share the victory they have given to their leaders. If their leaders win for sure, these people have also lost with us. They just don’t know it yet.

I know that I don’t really have a big following here on tumblr but I refuse to be silent about this anywhere.

To anyone who’s wondering, “What’s happening in the Philippines?” here it is:

We in the Philippines held our elections yesterday, and they are being rigged.

We are at risk of the son of a dictator taking the presidency seat, which endangers our economy, livelihoods, education, safety, and privacy. Every dirty trick in the book happened this election/campaign season - from fake news to broken voting machines and so much more.

The reason why he’s in the lead is the result of years upon years of mis- and disinformation and deceit. We cannot afford the Marcoses to take presidency again, not after all the taxpayer money they squandered and the people they had imprisoned, tortured, and killed.

To my fellow Filipinos, continue to fight the good fight. We can’t give up now. Di pa tapos ang laban. Kapit lang tayo.

maawa naman kayo sa Pilipinas

Information on the recent 2022 Philippine Elections.

You can also listen to this wherever you listen to podcasts, under our title.

New episode is still going up as planned, but likely with a new segment about the many, many, many, many crimes of the Marcos family.

Will be putting out an announcement on our podcast platform about the rigged elections and the dictator’s son lying and cheating his way into power.

Fellow Pinoys, if you have any talking points you want us to include for our audience, let us know.

Hi. I casted my very first vote to a public servant, an empowered woman, hoping that my country will finally prosper.

It’s unofficial, but we’re losing against the son of a dictator who caused atrocities to my fellow Filipinos.

I am mad, but mostly, disappointed.

I hope my fellows who voted to a dictator’s son, who’s a despicable liar, spoiled, and a tax-evader, will take responsibility of whatever happens to our country.

I know this post is not related to my usual content. But, I hope you let me grieve this time.

6 years of suffering, again. I’ve had enough.

Still, I am hoping for a change. A miracle? Divine intervention? Anything.

My eyes hurt from crying. However, I won’t lose hope. The PPCRV is only starting to encode the votes.

I am praying for a major plot twist.

My country deserves so much better.

i’m so anxious that i made my own icon
