This is the most insane trot I’ve ever seen. Why isn’t he galloping? Why aren’t they using reindeer in that race where horses have to trot fast with a buggy?
He’s not trotting! He’s…. Gaiting I guess? Fun fact: reindeer (and moose) have the same type of gaits as gaited horses, (like Tennessee walkers). They have a lateral gait where the right and left legs on the same side move together. This makes it much smoother than a straight gaited horses trot where the opposite hind and front feet move together. The later gait allows them to be very fast and very smooth and steady at the same time.
This is why gaited horses were bred for long distance travel.
