This information is specific to Texas, but applicable everywhere with abortion restrictions!

Here is another good thread about resources available to women who need to get an abortion but live in a state where it is restricted. (Remember - abortion is still legal in all 50 states as of today, May 4, 2022.)

TLDR; you don’t need to stockpile Plan B, panic, or assume that extreme methods will be necessary. There are a LOT of resources out there. Know about these resources now so you are prepared just in case.

Self-managed medication abortion is commonandsafe. It may be legally dubious to have it mailed to you, but it is an existing option that many people use. Learn more about the legality at https://www.reprolegalhelpline.org.

Also just general advice - while it may be tempting to share or post things like the copy/paste above, please look to pro-choice activists and organizations instead! They have been preparing for this outcome for years and providing resources that actually help real people (as opposed to posting about hypothetical situations that cause mass panic). There are already people on the ground doing this work. Listen to them!!

I am fucking terrified for the future of this country.

I work as a fundraiser for planned parenthood. I’ve gotten a few unsavory characters. None of them bother me as much as the standard Republican. They’re so fucking smug.

“We don’t kill babies” is what a guy said to me, wearing, I shit you not, a pro-2A shirt. Killing babies is wrong unless they’re in 1st grade I guess?

“Follow the science” another guy told me, after every fucking medical professional I spoke to that day was firmly on my side and terrified for their patients.

“If you took birth control, you wouldn’t need it” a woman said to me, as though birth control isn’t next on the chopping block. As though it works all the time. As though that’s even the point.

I hate them. I hate them more and more every day. Conservatives are nothing but brain dead goose stepping morons who will happily march themselves into a mass grave. They don’t get it, and I can’t possibly convey to them that nothing they claim to believe matches what they advocate for. The core of their political framework is hatred.

I hate conservatives for what they do.Conservatives hate you for who you are.

God I am so painfully tired of pro-birther rhetoric.

Even when years of Catholic brainwashing made me “pro-life”, I knew when life began was not the argument. This was a legal discussion- when the rightto life began was the question. When does one become a legal person? Now, the only answer that actually makes sense is birth, not conception or anytime in between.

But the thing is, is that that doesn’t matter either. Because legal persons are still not entitled to the bodies of other people. You would never, ever be forced to hand me over your lung. Why do I have to hand someone my uterus?

I don’t care if you believe life begins at conception. I don’t care if you think legal personhood begins at conception. I don’t care if you think a fetus is an innocent baby and that abortion is murder.

I want you to explain to me, concisely, why I should be legally obligated to keep a fetus alive, but you are not legally obligated to walk around with one kidney and one lung. And then I want you to shut up, because no matter what your answer is, it boils down to “I have the right to bodily autonomy, and you don’t.”

I can literally hold identical views to what I did when I was religious- that life begins at conception, that fetuses are people, that the unborn should have rights, that abortion is the taking of a life, that how you got pregnant doesn’t matter- and stillarrive at a prochoice conclusion. Because it’s my body. And it’s my choice who I lend it out to.

if you’re anti choice stop pretending to give a shit about sexism.

you don’t give a fuck about sexism, you perpetrate misogyny. you aren’t angry that female fetuses are aborted for being female, you’re angry that those people are allowed to abort for any reason.

Reproductive Justice (RJ) isn’t just abortions. And it’s not just just about cis white women.

• RJ is folx of color not having children bc they are afraid of them being killed due to racist injustice.

• RJ is transmasculine (transmen, non-binary afab people, bois/boys, etc) folx being denied medical care because of our trans status, that is if we can even afford it.

• RJ is predominantly folx of color not being to keep their children or give them up for adoption, even if they wanted to, bc they can’t afford the medical bills that come with having a baby.

• RJ is folx who don’t speak fluent English having limited access to medical care, no matter what their decision is.

• RJ is dark-skinned folx receiving less pain meds during pregnancy or the doctor will ignore them all together bc of racist stereotypes which puts their bodies under unnecessary stress which in turn effects the fetus.

• RJ is transmasculine folx being misgendered by hospital staff.

• RJ is transmasculine folx having to teach our health care providers about our bodies, HRT, detransitioning (bc you can’t be on T if you’re pregnant), basic do’s and dont’s, etc. all while being sensationalized as a “pregnant man”.

• RJ is medical staff assuming you want an abortion since you’re transmasc.

And that’s all I got so far. Please add more. And I like the word ‘folx’.

You need to know about Ohio’s new abortion bill that would ban abortion at six weeks, before many women even know they’re pregnant

North Dakota and Arkansas passed similar bills that were later struck down as incompatible with Roe v. Wade; the Supreme Court declined to hear any appeals, sending the signal that an Ohio law would meet the same fate. But Ohio’s conservative lawmakers see an opening after Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election last month.
