Good friends.Goodfriends.
Get yourself good friends. Get yourself friends who you adore, friends who call you cute, friends you have something in common with, friends you can dance with, friends who make you laugh, friends who are just as dumb as you, friends who are definitely dumber than you, friends who make fun of you, friends you enjoy with. But perhaps most mundanely importantly, friends who you are comfortablewith.
Comfort is such an integral but overlooked part of any human relationship. It’s the innate warmness of knowing that you can be a smouldering mess and they won’t mind. Such a happy realisation that this stretch of space between you and them is your own, without the mortifying ordeal of being know.
Comfort is a higher level of tuning, a deeper understanding. It’s something that only time and trust can grow. Somebody you can be with without making your brain do laps and push ups. No thoughts, head empty. Just straight up vibes.
It’s the joy of meeting your friend in pjs. The chaotic excitement of a thousand texts you send your best friend when embarrassing shit goes down. The straightforward trust of “I don’t like this, can you stop doing this?” And the sincerity of “I won’t, from now on.”
Get yourself goodfriends. Friends who are on the same page, friends who communicate, friends who you want to support, friends who you connect with, friends who you trust, friends who trust you, friends who understand you, friend who feel like warm blankets, friends who taste like soup, friends who remind you of characters, friends who you can hug. Friends who love you for who you are, friends who you love for who they are. Friends who feel warm and fuzzy and sweet and gentle and real.
Get yourself friends who feel like comfort.

It is official, the sunday times and hypable are jerks. The full wonderland article is available to read now and though some of the quotes that were released ARE actually said, they were taken completely out of context with the initial ‘sneak peeks’.
But more importantly all the sites and news reported this story with the headline rowling ‘REGRETS’, putting a negative spin on the entire thing and sparking massive fandom wank. Even the sunday times article was titled 'JK ADMITS HERMIONE SHOULD HAVE WED HARRY'
she does no such thing. she regrets nothing. and I feel I was totally correct in assuming it was a publicity thing. Imagine the spikes in traffic these news outlets got from their totally false headlines. So A+ sites, you not only took it out of context but used words and phrases she never used herself. And Emma too! It was reported that Emma agreed with her, when you read the article (below) it comes off like the opposite. It seems to me thats she’s just as much a Romione shipper as she ever was.
And can I just take a moment to applaud Emma’s reluctance to filming the tent scene? Whether you liked it or not, it DID imply harmony when there was none and i think its a good job on Emma for not wanting to do something that was so different from the book just because the filmmakers wanted to. So even tho Heyman and Kloves weren’t trying to keep Jo’s story the same, at least someone was. SO ANYWAY,
Jo has been massively criticized, the fandom boarded ship and went back to war, everything was chaos for a few days,
Congrats, Sunday Times, Hypable, you are both literally Rita Skeeter. And oh yes I blame those two. They are the root, they’re where it started and they are the ones that chose the headlines and set the tone for everything that followed.
Click the read more for the full interview (i’ve left in the stuff not related to the ships too), if anything whats actually said makes Hermione and Ron’s relationship more real. Because most people knew they’d need some work, but that they’d make it anyway.
Can you imagine how good of a husband Ron Weasley would be? How good of a father? I’m just imagining Ron and Hermione’s marriage and how powerful and amazing it would be.
I spent quarantine reading the books for the first time since age 10, and one of my favorite discoveries was how completely and staunchly loyal and protective Ron is, especially when it comes to Hermione. Even when they are mad at each other, he is unending in his efforts to protect her and often makes efforts to take burdens off of her shoulders (i.e. taking over the research work for Buckbeak’s appeal when she is overwhelmed by homework in POA). He is her fiercest and staunchest defender almost from day 1, putting his own safety and happiness on the line to keep her safe without hesitation (i.e. swearing that he’ll claim her as his cousin and teach her his family tree so that she is not put on the Muggleborn Registry; literally begging Bellatrix to torture him instead of her.)
And I’m imagining this translating to their post-war life and their marriage. Hermione coming home from a long day at the ministry and exhausted and Ron already having dinner made and all of the kids bathed. Ron making her lunch to take to the office on days she’s dreading and including little love notes; making her tea and making her comfortable and just being with her on nights when she is stuck doing paperwork. Being completely overprotective when she’s pregnant.
(This DEFINITELY includes the fact that Ron leaves his job as an Auror to run the joke shop with George and you CANNOT convince me that that had nothing to do with he and Hermione starting a family)
And then there’s Hermione, who keeps Ron grounded, who stops him from getting so protective that he gets himself in trouble. We see this multiple times throughout the series, where she has to hold him back from attacking Malfoy in her defense. And I see this translating perfectly over to their marriage as well.
Having to stop him from going too far/getting himself arrested when Rose is being bullied (but also finding the more discreet ways to help him give those kids hell.) Coming home after yet another long day at the office and finding that Ron’s had just as long a day, and that the kids are running around the house screaming, and he sees her and laments that he hasn’t made dinner yet and she just kisses him on the head and goes out to get a pizza (do Wizards do take out? Whatever they do now.)
In general, the two of them understand each other better than anyone else (like in Goblet of Fire when Hermione is able to explain to Harry exactly why Ron is angry.) They always turn to each other for comfort and protect each other undyingly, so of course this would translate into their marriage.
In my mind, Ron and Hermione’s marriage is one built on mutual love, respect, friendship and trust, because they had so many shortcomings before that they worked so long and hard to grow from. It’s sharing all of their responsibilities and burdens so that neither one of them is overwhelmed. Its promising to always be completely honest with one another, no matter what. It’s playful bickering that evolves into laughing and kissing, and actual arguments that evolve into holding each other close and whispering I’m sorry.
It’s nights spent cuddling on the couch, Hermione laying her head in Ron’s lap and reading and him just watching her and thinking about how lucky he feels. It’s waking up in the middle of the night and holding each other to help each other through the nightmares. It’s building a happy home, full of learning and joking and reading and Quidditch-playing, a place where happiness overflows and their children always know, more than anything, that they are loved, and that they have someone behind them.
Every piece of evidence in these books about Ron and Hermione’s friendship and eventual romance suggests that they would have nothing less than the epitome of a healthy marriage based on love and trust and J.K. Rowling can fight me on that any day.

It’s been hours since I finished my Chamber of Secrets reread and I’m still thinking about how much Ron cared about and missed Hermione while she was petrified??
-when Malfoy says he wished she’d died and Ron has to be physically restrained by Harry and Dean until they’re halfway to their next class to keep him from full out attacking him
-when he looks at Hermione’s empty seat in class and resolves himself to follow the spiders!!
-when McGonagall tells everyone that the mandrakes are almost ready and Harry describes Ron as looking the most cheerful he has in weeks!!!
-that same moment when it’s mentioned that the awakened students might be able to tell them who’s behind the attacks and Ron immediately launches into how Hermione will be able to because she’s Hermione and she definitely figured it out because she’s brilliant and he’s speaking with complete certainty and confidence in her I just!!!!
-after everything he went through thinking his sister is dead and going into the chamber of secrets, afterwards in Dumbledore’s office when it is mentioned to Ginny that those treated with the mandrakes should be waking up so no harm done Ron immediately goes back to Hermione by exclaiming ~brightly~ “So Hermione’s okay!”
