tiny–witch:

I am always stuck trying to balance my professional life and my magickal one, which seems to stress me out WAY more than it should, but I’ve recently discovered that you don’t have to do anything huge for it to be magickal.

If you want to do something witchy but just don’t have the energy, here’s a few things you can try that either take little effort or that you probably would have been doing anyway:

  • take a bath or shower - dedicate it to washing the stress and negativity of the day away
  • eat food - ground and recharge yourself
  • if you feel like cooking - charge your ingredients before adding them to the mix
  • light a candle, incense, or plug in your wax warmer -let the scent help keep your space cleansed and free of negative energy while you sit there and chill
  • meditate - turn on some relaxing music and just close your eyes for a while
  • and lastly, get some sleep!

feel free to reblog and add your own suggestionsc:

Visual Spells

Visual Spells: put your spell on display without anyone being any the wiser

This post was inspired by a comment from Kiki on a mutual witchy discord about using vision boards as spells.

Vision boards, for those of you unfamiliar, are generally a physical collection of items representing your goal, usually tacked onto a cork board (magnets on a whiteboard or anything similar would work as well). For example, if you were doing a vision board about getting your dream…

I don’t need to say that the world is not currently in its usual state. I don’t need to remind anyone why everyone is staying home as much as possible.

This can mean more time for our Craft. Perhaps that’s from working from home and having your commute time available, or postponed get-togethers with friends that leave more time, or something else. Regardless, it seems like an opportunity to use…

saw a thing about making chia pets from crystals and that feels like SUCH a great ward. chia seeds are literally sold at the grocery store and i feel like we all have rocks to spare

Janky Witchcraft

made a long distance candle for my friend who is Goin Thru It but I can’t get it to her in time.

Ultra Discount Version:

  • white candle
  • carve algiz rune (and friend’s name if you have space)
  • spread ground cinnamon around into the crevices)
  • this is the only fancy part: a few drops of orange essential oil and lavender essential oil

If you’ve got lots of tools: use a yellow or pink candle instead, and add sage, mint, and calendula to the herbs you dress the candle with. I used a tea light because that’s what I had on hand and I was impatient

idk if this is how it’s supposed to work but when I can’t destroy an old charm (that I no longer need or the intention has changed) I layer another one on top of it. this is easy as I tend to use glass bottles (tie a new, smaller one around the neck) that I am VERY reluctant to smash

do your best witch friend a favor and get them: a rock tumbler and an assay bag. best gift and they’ll love u forever

dreamt about a galloping black horse…that can’t be good

I Have A Shitty Knee So Here’s The Homemade Icy Hot I Will Attempt to Make

  • Lavender
  • Ginger
  • Cayenne

I’m gonna infuse oil (either infuse for 4 weeks in a jar or double boil for 2ish hours). Then strain and combine with about ¼th cup beeswax and shea butter (or any kind of body safe butter‍♀️). Essential oils may also be useful. Gonna pour it in an old deodorant container and ~recycle.

EDIT: this recipe has the exact ratios I’ll be following (I’m substituting arnica flowers for lavender bc i don’t own arnica and I don’t feel like buying it)

Instead of a physical notebook, grimoire or book of shadows, use a digital tool like Notion to log your practice and keep important resources.

Hide your tools, herbs and crystals in a box under your bed. This can also be used to hide your altar.

Use clothes, makeup and nail polish to highlight a specific magical color that represents your intention or a spell you are currently working on.

Bless your jewelry and use it as a trinket to carry magic and purpose with you during the day.

Downloadwitchy phone applications to improve your practice in a subtle way.

Trace sigils in your food, in the shower, while applying skin care, in your notebooks, digitally on pictures in your phone, etc.

Spend time around nature as much as possible, going on hikes or bike rides can be subtle activities that will enable you to stay connected to the Earth.

I don’t know about y'all, but I’m BIG on using candles and burning incense as offerings for my deities. I love asking them to help me pick out a candle or incense scent that they would like, and burning it in their honor. That’s my standard go-to when I’m at home. But when I move back on campus this fall, I’m going to have to get a bit more creative for the no-burning-things rule and so as not to alert my already suspicious roommate, lol. I thought I’d compile a list of ideas for dorm and roommate-friendly offerings and altars.

Obvs, this can be useful in any situation in which you can’t practice openly for whatever reason. PLEASE, feel free to add your own ideas & your own examples from your practice. I want this to be an interactive list!

Offerings

  • Make them a drink (coffee and tea seem to be popular, but anything can work)
  • Cut out a portion of your lunch to share with them
  • Draw them (they’ll love it!)
  • WAX WARMERS!! If you can have them. Closest alternative to a candle
  • Oil diffusers
  • Collect pretty things you find outside that remind you of them. Rocks, feathers, flowers, etc.
  • Dedicate your work in their domain to them (ex. dedicating your study time to Odin)
  • If you have kitchen access, bake things for them

Altars

  • Pocket altars are always a good idea (check out the pocket altarandaltoid altar tags for ideas)
  • E-shrines
  • If you can do it discreetly, you can set up your altar on a windowsill or in a corner of your desk.

Tips for my closeted witches <3

-Pick up gardening or cooking so you have an excuse to buy/grow herbs/plants

-Do your big spells at night, so no one will intrude & the power of the moon will be the highest than too

-For making moon water just stick a glass of water on your window sill for a couple hours, it doesn’t need to be overnight

-Use symbolism & substitution, such as symbols that represent any deities your work with (if you work with them) this way you can represent them subtly

-Wear a black shirt for protection (use color magic for clothes or make up)

-Make paper book covers to cover your witchcraft books, put them behind other books, or place them with your school work

-Take advantage of windy days and use wind to cleanse

-Practice candle magick

-Research energy work

-Practice ring magick

-Work with essential oils

-Use pdf books and change the name of the file

-Start a crystal collection because they’re pretty

-Start a candle collection because they smell nice

-When making sigils, write them in moon water or in invisible ink so your parents won’t see them

-Store pressed dried herbs in books

-If you play an instrument you can turn spells into songs or melodies

-Use regular cards instead of a tarot deck for cartomancy (in the link down below is our discord server where you will be able to find how to use and play cartomancy), you can also make your own tarot!

-Use showers to cleanse yourself with water and visualization

-Create a cleansing spray and disguise it as an air freshener

-Make a travel alter in an altoids can or make an altar on a board/baking tray and store it under your bed

-Turn your room into an altar, a plant could represent earth in the north corner, a fan or incense burner in the east for air, a dragons statue south for fire and a fountain for water in the west (you can choose what represents each element, this is an example)

-You can also make your altar in a shoebox

-make a digital altar (a dedicated tumblr blog, pinterest board, moodboard, a crafted temple in a building game, etc)

-dedicate meals to them before you eat it, art, music, writing, etc

-Say your grimoire/bos is a book of story ideas or info for a game of dnd

-make digital grimoires/bos in notion or google drive

-Art magick!!

-Sigils as fancy doodles or a language for a fantasy setting

-Trace sigils in your food, in the shower, while applying skin care, in your notebooks, digitally on pictures in your phone, draw a sigil on your nails before painting them with nail polish

-Drinking tea and you’re bad at drawing sigils at the bottom with honey? Don’t like the taste of honey but want to incorporate sigils on your tea) use washable markers on your mugs, you can also use color intent

-enchant your jewelry, masks, clothes, etc

-Pass your pendulum as jewelry

-Make your own incense with kitchen spices/herbs

-If you need to get rid of the smell of incense or perfume or burnt herbs, you can make a solution of 50% water and 50% white vinegar in a spray bottle, also keeping a wet wipe or mini towel next to you can absorb some of the odor

-Hide stuff in plain sight and say they’re decorations (crystals, shells, feathers, etc)

-Spend time on nature so you can connect to the Earth

-If you want to have chalices, you can try to find a cup that you can pass off as drinking cup you keep in your room, if this isn’t possible, than even something as small as a thimble can work

-containers you can use, little pots of lip balm when it runs out, container ||sharpeners||, the containers of camera fills, use old makeup containers, sweet containers, lead containers (pencils, compasses, etc.), medicine containers, etc

-take advantage of being home alone!!!!

-candle wax can be replaced with glue (if you want it with color respondence you can put colorant in it) or melted crayons
