the Ojibwe translation of some of the terminologies we encountered was based on the function, the action, and the observer’s understanding associated with these terms.
For example, carbon dioxide in Ojibwe is mitigoo-inanaamowin, meaning “(the air that) the trees breathe.” You will find many more such neologisms created in the lesson plans.

@kengeiger: Maasai Mara National Reserve , Kenya — The Magnificent Five, this coalition of five male cheetahs has been one of the Mara’s star attractions for several years. On this morning, the five tried and failed to take down a newborn giraffe. Tired from the fruitless battle the coalition sought one of the few shade trees to nap and escape the heat of that day. After a two hour nap, they woke, yawned, stretched, and each one took turns territorially marking the tree, before they strolled off in search of their next meal.
