#Woman Realizes Her #Airbnb Renter LIED When She Returns Home On New Year’s Eve

A #California #teen is officially banned from using Airbnb after he lied to his host about his age, so he could throw a huge #NewYearsEve party at her house.
“He seemed very mature and was very polite,” Airbnb host Reshma Vasanwala said of the “man” who rented out her house in #Oakland last weekend.
According to Vasanwala, the person renting her house for New Year’s Eve was an older man from #Chicago, just visiting for a day or two.
As it turns out, the renter was actually a teenager from #Berkeley, who invited more than 200 friends to Vasanwala’s house to celebrate his 18th birthday.
Unsurprisingly, the night didn’t end well and Vasanwala came home to find that the #teens had completely destroyed her entire house in a matter of hours.
“If it had gone on for two to three more hours, who knows, could have burned down the house,” a #neighbor said later, according to ABC 7.
Vasanwala was forced to race back home on New Year’s Eve after a neighbor called and warned her that several #policeofficers had showed up to her house to break up the #birthdaybash.
By the time Vasanwala and her partner arrived back home, all the #party guests had already fled the scene.
The teenage renter, however, actually did return just in time for #police to arrest him on the spot for #vandalism.
Since the party last weekend, Vasanwala and her partner have been shocked to see how many #teenagers keep showing up to collect personal items they accidentally left behind.
“Audacity was beyond me. Like really, you’ve done this to our home and you’re concerned we’re not giving you your sweat jacket right away,” Vasanwala’s partner, Jim Santi Owen, said.
After Vasanwala complained about what happened, Airbnb released the following statement:
“We have banned this guest from Airbnb and our trust and safety team has reached out to the host to work with them under our $1 million host guarantee.”
