Unpopular opinion: Tyrannotitan is just an off-brand, overhyped Giganotosaurus with an edgier name. Mapusaurus at least has a more complete skull and a more respectable name.

Likely the final entry in my impromptu Jurassinktober, it’s the Male Tyrannosaurus from the Lost World!

I love the way this rex looks from his colors, the scars, and all the extra saggy and pointy bits. It really makes him feel more like an individual character than even the female.

Also, I will likely show off some of the JP-related “project” I’ve been working on soon. Hopefully people will enjoy it. I’ve had a blast doing it.

Totally forgot to upload this here like a month ago, but with Prehistoric Planet now out in it’s entirety, I figured I would catch-up. Here is the father T. rexfromPrehistoric Planet (known to some as “Hank”) hanging out with some other Rex dads/families across paleomedia. See if you can name all the references!

Side note: Please watch Prehistoric Planet if you get a chance. It’s a refreshing look at dinos, it’s gorgeous, and you can watch it with an Apple+ free trial. I am in love with it.

Introducing the Re-Sequenced Baryonyx! The Jurassic World Baryonyx is no stranger to ire and criticism, and I admit I’m not the biggest fan either, but this art is meant to be more of an exploration of the design than a criticism/”fix”. I wanted to keep the things I liked while incorporating more “real science” and adding some extra character/flair. Enjoy!

Dinovember Day 11.

A scene of a small desert canyon at sunset featuring a lone Gobivenator mongoliensis.

When creating the landscape, I took some inspiration form a few images of a river valley in the American southwest as well as from some of the backgrounds in The Land Before Time (1988).  I was originally going for a more earthy tone and color pallet, though I think it turned out a bit too stylized and overly-exaggerated.

Dinovember day 10: Sinraptor in a cool pose

I seem to paint trees a different way every single day… mainly because I can’t remember how I did them the day prior.

I don’t know if being alert and/or sniffing qualifies as a ‘cool pose’ but I didn’t know what else to do.

Dinovember Day 8: A highly Speculative Carcharodontosaurus

This one is a day late because yesterday I was truly exhausted. I’m much better today.

I made Carcharodontosaurus a spikey guy, considering that its relatives aren’t known for feathers, and one relative concavonator may have had “quills” along its arms, so I doubled that up and made spiky quills adorn the back and arms of this carcharodontosaurus, as well as give it an iguana-like wattle.

I’m off to finish my next Dinovember

Buitreraptor gonzalezorum in some wonderful blue-green garb.

Wanted to give to some vivid colors that still fit its likely ecology, so I based the coloration on different species of heron. At least I believe piscivory is likely for dinos like AustroraptorandUnenlagia.

My submission for Day 6 of Dinovember. I’m sorry that this post is so late. I was kind of tied up with working on a paper for school, as well as with going through voting, so I wasn’t able to post this earlier.

Anyway, here we have a female Allosaurus fragilis with a nest, watching over a newly laid clutch of eggs. With her brood safely buried beneath heaps of dead ferns and dried mud, she keeps a careful vigil.

The coloration of the Allosaurus here was partially inspired by one of the Carnotaurus figures from the toy line for the first Jurassic Park film. The overall design of the animal was based on the work of Fred Wierum.

JustTorvosaurus hanging out with his best friend The Lungfish. They’re having a great time. The legs are a bit long, but I think this is pretty good for an off-center front view.

Another Dinovember post!

I don’t sketch Oviraptor or similar dinosaurs all that much, so I’m understandably not great at drawing them. So, I decided to do a sort of anatomy study on Citipati sp. to better understand them. I shamelessly copied/worked from Jaime A. Headden’s (Qilong’s) Citipati skull and skeletal to do this, since he seems to have a very good understanding of these animals both mentally and artistically. The life restorations were based somewhat on cassowaries, helmeted guineafowl, and kori bustards.

Here’s a link to Qilong’s blog and DeviantArt page in case anybody wants to check out the cool stuff that he has written/made and to look like less of an art thief/hack:

Been sort of busy the past two weeks or so and haven’t been able to post unfortunately. But, it’s Dinovember and it would be a shame if I let this pass me by. While I kinda missed the ball on doing a drawing everyday this month, I figured I would take this opportunity to post throughout the month when I can and do some anatomy practice with stuff I’m not great at/familiar with.

Here are the left arms of some theropods I reconstructed off of pictures of skeletal mounts and arm bones that I found online. I referenced some basic theropod musculature pictures online to get the build and major muscles in, and looked at bare chicken wings, eagle talons, and crocodile feet for texture. The VelociraptorandT. rex are missing any possible heavy feather coatings as these are meant to emphasize form and musculature.

Doing all the tiny scales on Allo and Majunga were super fun and not tedious or painstaking at all. They reminded me of why I don’t like to texture my drawings very often. But I guess I should still get in some practice doing texture anyway.

I doodled this a few months ago trying to practice freehand perspective with some random dinos in pen.

In case you can’t read any of the super-tiny writing, the dinosaurs left to right, top to bottom are: Maiasaura,Acrocanthosaurus,Triceratops, and Plateosaurus. The only references used were a pic of an Acro skull.

This was on lined notebook paper which the printer I scanned this on apparently didn’t pick up. Good to know.
