“We don’t just have a skeleton,” said one of the nodosaur researchers involved. “We have a dinosaur as it would have been.”
Known as a nodosaur, this 110 million-year-old, armored plant-eater is the best preserved fossil of its kind ever found.
unfathomable
This is maybe the coolest thing I’ve ever reblogged.
Next in line (by NagalieArt)
Last weekend I got to visit Alexandre Dumas’ castle and oh boy did he know how to spend his money. This castle has Everything. The whole place just shone with Great Decisions (naturally he had to sell it off after 4 years because money troubles). I genuinely loved it. Look at it:
He named it after his novel, there’s a grotto, you get there going through a rock tunnel (all with convenient seats carved in of course) he put his faves on the outside and it all just has so much personality!
I’ll put some of my favourite features under the cut:
OP Dumas was a Byron fan boy was there any Byron stuff?????
I’m sorry to say I didn’t notice anything that screamed Byron to me… but there were at least 12 writer’s heads and not all the names were legible so it’s possible!
I also don’t know the references behind the stain glass windows so maybe there’s something there?
Edit: there is this unidentified more modern looking gentleman with fluffy curls right above the door:
Might be? I don’t know!
Reblogging again to say that I googled it and Dumas did include his own head in the lineup of his favourite writers (because of course he did) so I’d be suprised if he didn’t put his own face above the entrance
EDIT (final this time) Byron is on it! I didn’t spot him myself, but I just found this blog that gives this as the full list:
Virgil, Shakespeare, Dante, Homer, Chateaubriand, Sophocles, Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Racine, Byron, Goethe, Victor Hugo, Corneille and Molière
And according to that list, Dumas added himself above the door only later, to smile at anyone arriving in his house
