I’m FINALLY seeing quad definition after what has felt like forever. (I’m a big baby when it comes to dieting.) But, slow progress is still progress!! And I’m keeping my muscle!!

The key thing you want to focus on for retaining muscle (and not turning skinny-fat) in a caloric deficit is making sure you are prioritizing strength training, getting the proper protein amounts, and being very strategic with your post workout nutrition and recovery.

Being social is usually about having food and drinks with your friends, but something I’ve noticed about being more health conscious (especially with the #springsprint challenge) is that we need to find new and creative ways to have fun that don’t involve devouring 10,000 calories worth of greasy food and beer and still enjoying ourselves

Fun fact!
Your muscles don’t grow in the gym.
They grow while they are recovering.

What happens when your muscles grow? (I’ll give you a hint, you don’t turn into @schwarzenegger *cough* ladies *cough*) your lean body mass increases!!

What happens with more lean body mass?! Higher metabolic rate.

Long story longer, growing your muscles helps you lose weight. BINGO.

Peep those palm trees
☀️This is what a weekend is supposed to feel like☀️

I spend so much time focusing on diet, exercise, cleaning, errands, appointments…. I never focus on relaxing, enjoying the sun, not being so “type A”

Today I finally got to take a day away and relax by the pool with family.
I’m 3 weeks into my #transPHORMation
Challenge and I still tracked all my food (and drinks) today even though I know I’m not sticking directly to plan and that’s part of my accountability.
Enjoy life.
It happens.
I keep having to tell myself, and work with my partner @thesophisticate that one weekend of enjoying myself isn’t going to mess up my long term goals.

Transformation Tuesday!!

I was SOOOO excited when I found the picture on the left. Literally it was a Snapchat and the text on it was “My hamstrings won’t grow. Calorie deficit problems.”

..
The picture on the left was about a year ago eating maybe 1300 calories and using Herbalife. I think I was 130 lbs at this point.

.
A 6 month long calorie increase period and a lot of hard work later… I FINALLY HAVE HAMSTRINGS. I weighed in at 132 lbs yesterday. (that’s 4 lbs lighter than the peak of my bulk) and I’m steadily losing about half a pound a week. Can’t wait to see what other body love I discover.

.
