I’m FINALLY seeing quad definition after what has felt like forever. (I’m a big baby when it comes to dieting.) But, slow progress is still progress!! And I’m keeping my muscle!!

The key thing you want to focus on for retaining muscle (and not turning skinny-fat) in a caloric deficit is making sure you are prioritizing strength training, getting the proper protein amounts, and being very strategic with your post workout nutrition and recovery.

They grow while they are recovering.

What happens when your muscles grow? (I’ll give you a hint, you don’t turn into @schwarzenegger *cough* ladies *cough*) your lean body mass increases!!

What happens with more lean body mass?! Higher metabolic rate.

Long story longer, growing your muscles helps you lose weight. BINGO.

What can I throw together at the end of the night to get as close to my daily targets as possible even if it means eating at 10pm

Sometimes it’s actual dinner food. Sometimes it’s candy and a protein shake.
I think one time or two I actually ate 3 bowls of cereal for dinner just because I can. On a calorie restriction it’s not as easy, but it can be done and you can still reach those fat loss goals.

Transformation Tuesday!!

I was SOOOO excited when I found the picture on the left. Literally it was a Snapchat and the text on it was “My hamstrings won’t grow. Calorie deficit problems.”

..
The picture on the left was about a year ago eating maybe 1300 calories and using Herbalife. I think I was 130 lbs at this point.

.
A 6 month long calorie increase period and a lot of hard work later… I FINALLY HAVE HAMSTRINGS. I weighed in at 132 lbs yesterday. (that’s 4 lbs lighter than the peak of my bulk) and I’m steadily losing about half a pound a week. Can’t wait to see what other body love I discover.

Lighting could definitely be better in my room… But here’s day 1 to day 52. Still two weeks to go!

I have NOT taken this challenge aggressively because I know I wouldn’t be able to sustain it. Slow and steady wins the race. I’m still eating a decent amount of calories, I’m not starving, im not doing an hour of cardio a day, I only go to the gym 4 days a week, and I’m not a completely nut case like I was the last time I decided to lose weight

.

The picture on the left was back in beauty school. Living off keystone light, staying up way past my bedtime, and eating lots of junk food. (I don’t even know how I survived??? Can someone back then remind me what I ate?? All I remember is pasta and pizza??)

I don’t even think I knew what a vegetable was???

Anyway, The girl on the left was a very weak, lost girl just wanting to have a good time no matter how it damaged her body.

The boss ass bitch on the right is strong because she learned from the girl on the left. Learned to do everything in moderation, learned to be a leader not a follower, and learned to pay her dues.
