as of 13:10 polish time, it has been said as many people as possible will be let through the borders. they are also supposed to let through children who do not have passports, as to not divide families.
Prime Minister of Poland’s statement, circa 14.30 polish time:

They found massive civilian graves in cities after Russian army. They were tied up and shot. They found out stolen appliances, clothes, children toys that Russian army tried to take with them.
This war is something that Russian people will be ashamed of, they one that they will try to hide and wash of. But blood is a very hard stain to wash, all of us will remember it. In childhood I believed it “brotherhood” of post USSR nations, but now no one will ever trust Russia.

I was upset when I made my other post yesterday, and still am. Thank you for everyone who signal boosted and gave me some insight on ‘why’ this may be happening. This page has become a very far right, anti-Semitic, racist, and fascist and the admins don’t care. I’ve send some reports and after a send like three there was a sudden new update to the page that 'no one was allowed to report posts.’
They post racist and other horrible rhetoric plastered over TDC characters. Make comparisons to real life wars and invasions to the ones in the show and laugh about it in the comments. One person commented that they 'couldn’t wait for the liberal snowflakes to find this post and get upset about it’
There are endless distasteful comments about real life wars. Making posts that 'skeksis are quicker than xxx-army’ or comparing people from invaded countries to podlings but then backtracking because 'at least podlings had an enough spine to fight back and resist.’
There have been made pictures of people photoshopping garthim over tanks. Tanks that were invading countries and caused real life deaths.
And a few of their members compared BIPOC to animals so… yeah. Disgusting shit all around.
There are also a lot of anti-vaxx posts, with the whole brainwashing, money grabbing schtick. Adding vaccine logo’s or text over the draining scenes and comparing skeksis to the government.

I feel this is becoming more and more true, sadly. And I know a lot of fans of this show are younger, and I hate to see them fall for these tricks. These 'memes’ aren’t jokes. They are cruel and disgusting.

It sadly has seem to be gotten worse. At least on Facebook. I also know some were active on Twitter but I’ve got those blocked before I saw anything.
I know a lot of people have their art / cosplays posted in that group. So my advice is to remove those. It has become private so that may become harder now. Just be careful out there, don’t go into this weird fucked up rabbit hole people in that group are trying to dig.

-The Combat Action ribbon and the Armed Forces Expeditionary ribbon were both accidentally placed upside down on Barry’s ribbon rack in the show.
-On Barry’s Purple Heart Ribbon you can see what looks like a bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, which means that he has been awarded that medal more than once. However, since he is a Marine, it should have been a Gold Star since the Oak Leaf Clusters are an Air Force/Army thing and Gold Stars are a Navy/Marine/ Coast Guard thing. But that’s neither here nor there.
-Military medals and decorations (of which Barry has both, and I apologize for not making the distinction above but if you’re very curious please let me know and I will be more than happy to inform you of that distinction), while different, are both usually displayed as small “ribbons” on the left upper part of a military members dress uniform, in what is called a ribbon rack.
-There’s also an order in which a service member places their ribbons. Every branch of the military is different when it comes to placement and precedence of awards, medals, and distinctions. Again, if you would like to know why certain ribbons that Barry has on his ribbon rack are in a certain order, please let me know and I’ll be more than willing to explain.

I thought I reblogged these brilliant and comprehensive posts breaking down Barry’s military service medals from my beloved @martymcdie88mph before, but apparently not. And with the show starting up again I thought other fic writers might find them, like I have, to be a valuable resource. There are three posts total and she really went above and beyond. Thank you darling, I’m so grateful for your hard work!
I’ve been writing an mcu fic that features Magneto (it’s about the alternate Earth in Multiverse of Madness, check it out) and someone asked how old Magneto is in that fic, guessing around 80, and I realized that not only hadn’t I thought about that but that was a hard question to answer.
Magneto’s origin story is tied to a real life historical event. In some versions of the X-Men, Magneto ages slower so that is a very reasonable explanation for his age but that does not change the fact that modern day is moving farther and farther from those days and so the characters’ ages don’t quite make sense.
My grandparents were also WWII refugees (very different from Magneto. Chinese, not Jewish) and they’re in their 90s. They were probably younger than Magneto at the time. Even if Magneto ages slower, I cannot see him as my grandparents’ age, not to mention that would imply that he was already quite old when Wanda and Pietro were born.
Wanda is in her early to mid 20s in the mcu. If Magneto is in his 90s, that would mean that she was born in his 70s and that does not feel right to me. However, Xavier is also in his 90s so it would make sense for Magneto to also be in his 90s, just faring better due to his mutant powers.
So to answer the question in regards to the fic, I kind of have to make Magneto in his 90s in order to respect his background. But, since so much time has passed since then, I think it is totally reasonable to say in this fic he has a really good anti-aging factor. I’ve been picturing him in his 60s or 70s but you as the reader can imagine him as whatever age you’d like.
So tw war I guess, but I feel like this had to be said.
It’s crazy to me that I’ve seen Americans on the internet go on about how “GAS PRICES ARE RISING! 6 DOLLARS A GALLON THE APOCALYPTIC INFLATION IS UPON US!1!1!1!”.
I get it, your country is a capitalist hellscape and it’s difficult enough to live any decent life even without the prices going up. But this is not about the US. Stop making it about the US.
This is about Ukrainians being killed, everything in Ukraine; houses, schools, hospitals, vital infrastructure, lives, being destroyed, it’s f-ing war and war is hell. Most Americans have no experience with living in a country that has been occupied at some point in the last century. Now if you’re curious about what that’s like: they’re still finding WW2 bombs in the Netherlands and all countries that were occupied or bombed between 1939-1945.
I repeat: More than 75 years after peace has been signed, there’s still active explosives in the ground. War is not over when the peace treaty is signed. Even if a treaty was signed tomorrow and the Russian troops would withdraw the same day, the cleanup is gonna take years, if not generations to complete. And at this point we’re not even talking about the traumas people already have.
War doesn’t end. It just keeps echoing for generations. Inter-generational trauma is a pain in the ass. My grandpa still has food insecurity from the Dutch Winter Famine he survived, my grandmother (rip) survived a bombardment on the very neighborhood I live in now, multiple family members were almost executed.
And that was during WW2 which was certainly not fun, but now the weapons are worse, the desinformation and propaganda is worse and the trauma is fresh and not nearly over. And the atrocities at Bucha clearly show that Russian troops are not merciful by any metric. There’ll be more death, more violence, more destruction and yet people in the US (and let’s be honest, many in Europe too) get soooo upset by their car fuel costing a bit more.
Tldr: check ur privilege, living in a country that has not been attacked/besieged/occupied by foreign forces the last 100 years IS privilege.
Also if anyone tells you that no war crimes are committed or that Ukrainians deserve this, report, block, spread accurate information. Bellingcat is an excellent source if you want suggestions.
These people now have no homes, because Putin is committing war crimes in Ukraine.
The world must remember this. This must never be forgotten.
And we must not allow American Fascists who publicly supported Putin at the beginning of this unprovoked attack on innocent Ukrainians to rewrite their despicable support for this abomination out of history.
ukrainian roma are stuck in war zones with nowhere to go
there are roughly 400,000 roma in ukraine. it is estimated that 30,000 have no form of ID. our brothers and sisters in ukraine have long suffered under ukraine’s right-wing policies and now many can’t even escape the country as russia continues its invasion. ukrainian roma are being expected to fight for a country that hates them. i urge that you keep them in mind and educate yourself about the history of antigypsyism in ukraine by at least reading the thread below:
