Cela is born under the second moon and one of the Lunar People. They live in close touch with nature, mostly to themselves. Their souls are bound to a cycle that follows the phases of the moon.
As soon as they die, they move on to the next cycle until the last one.
Throughout their lives the souls keep memories of their past lives and remember them one by one when the time comes.
Soulmates find themselves more easily since they are bound to one another, they share their cycles, their lives and their deaths. Some rare times this bond is broken and they can’t find their counterpart in all 8 lives.
Cela doesn’t remember her first life and the other people won’t tell her why. Only something terrible would result in a memory wipe like this.
The only thing even more terrible, they say, is taking another soul for it’s life to prolong their own. These hunters lurk in the dark and seek to kill them for their lives. At full moon they are said to be strongest, mostly expendable ones are sent out during that time.
