The Siren Vase is an Ancient Greek art masterpiece, created circa 480 BC - 470 BC in Attica, Greece. This piece’s medium is pottery. The image on the Siren Vase shows Odysseus (Ancient Greek King) passing the sea through The Sirens, whom were three sea nymphs that had the power to kill sailors with their bewitching tune.

The sirens of ancient Greek mythology were bird-women whose enchanted singing lured sailors off course, causing shipwreck and disaster. This vase is painted with this famous scene and is known as the Siren Vase. It is a wide-necked vessel thought to have been used for serving wine. The image is of beautiful detail in a magnificent black ground. These two colours contrast very well together enabling the siren painter to create the beautiful Siren Vase.

The mosaic picture of a domesticated dog, leashed and chained, with the words “cave canem” (beware of the dog) written under the animal, greeted (or, well, warned) visitors upon entering the house. The figure served as protection over the more private quarters of the 2nd century BC Roman home, one of the most famous at the site thanks to its elaborate mosaic floors and frescoes depicting scenes from Greek mythology.

The skeleton is pointing to two words, which translate as 'Know thyself’, an aphorism that was inscribed in the pronaos of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, according to the Greek traveller and geographer Pausanias (c. 110 - c. 180 AD).⁣

The Hittite Sun Disk or Hittite Sun Course is an ancient Anatolian symbol dating back to the 20th century BC. The symbol belongs to the Hattis from the pre-Hittite period. The Sun Disk was used in ceremonies by Hattians about 4.000 years ago.⁣

Round sphere forming the Sun Disk symbolizes the earth or the sun. At the bottom, there are two horn-like protrusions but what they represent is not clear. The protrusions at the top represent fertility, and the procreation of nature.⁣
