Sorry -
I can’t bring myself to do your Ice bucket challenge.
I enjoy a good dare- It’s always good to bring awareness - in fun, creative ways / I don’t want to take away from that.
but it had me thinking. Digging a bit deeper. I found that we may not be aligned - in our messages. So…
- I thought Instead / I’d challenge ALS to stop Animal testing /– Recent experiments funded by the ALS Association, mice had holes drilled into their skulls, were inflicted with crippling illnesses, and were forced to run on an inclined treadmill until they collapsed from exhaustion. Monkeys had chemicals injected into their brains and backs and were later killed and dissected.
What is the result of these experiments (other than a lot of suffering)? In the past decade, only about a dozen experimental ALS treatments have moved on to human trials after being shown to alleviate the disease in animals. All but one of these treatments failed in humans—and the one that “passed” offers only marginal benefits to humans who suffer from ALS. This massive failure rate is typical for animal experiments, because even though animals feel pain and suffer like we do, their bodies often react completely differently to drugs and diseases. According to the FDA, 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal trials fail during the human clinical trial phase.

Sophisticated non-animal testing methods—including in vitro methods, advanced computer-modeling techniques, and studies with human volunteers, among others—have given us everything from the best life-saving HIV drugs to cloned human skin for burn victims. Trying to cure human diseases by relying on outdated and ineffective animal experiments isn’t only cruel—it’s a grave disservice to people who desperately need cures.

Please, help scientists make real progress toward treating and curing human diseases by visiting HumaneSeal.org to find and support charities that never harm animals and which pour their time and resources into advanced, promising, human-relevant cures.

Quick Reminder that if your respect for the bodily autonomy of others stops where your personal pleasure begins, then you have waay more work to do to practice what you preach. All sentient beings should have their bodily autonomy respected based on their sentience. This includes non human individuals.

Are your Beauty products truly Cruelty-Free? [Visual]

With so many skincare and beauty brands out there these days, it’s easy to choose brands and products that do not support animal testing. If enough people jump on the bandwagon, larger companies may feel the pressure to follow in their footsteps.

When we look at brands that potentially test on animals, we consider the ingredients, the process, and the sales process. That means that if the company or their suppliers test on animals, they are not regarded as cruelty-free. The FDA and other American governing bodies don’t regulate product labels claiming their products to be vegan or cruelty-free. You need to do your research into your favourite products.

Keeping a list of reliable resources on hand will cut down on your time and the possibility of supporting a non-cruelty-free brand. Check out the information produced by Cruelty-Free Kitty and PETA’s Cruelty-Free list.

Most people are not aware of how prevalent animal testing really is among most commonly used products. This means that these companies take animals and inject them with these products, rub the products on the animal’s eyes, force the products down the animal’s throats, isolate the animals into a tube and have them inhale the toxic chemicals.

This is still a very real issue but by educating people we can help bring about change. A very easy way to tell if you’re buying cruelty-free products is most cruelty-free products are labeled as cruelty-free or vegan.

A few companies that don’t test on animals are:
Dr. Bronner’s
LA Minerals
Mrs Meyer’s
Nature’s Gate
Cleanwell
Earth Friendly Products
Pacifica
Paul Mitchel
Wet N’ Wild
Painted Earth

A few companies that DO test on animals:
Trojan Condoms
Almay
Avon
Johnson’s
Softsoap
Dial
Dove
Clorox

We vote with our money. You can make the decision to support brands that are taking a step in the right direction. Let’s work towards a more cruelty-free world!

Many people don’t put in the effort to slow and halt animal testing because they believe that we have it for a reason, that there are no safe and effective alternatives. Get the word out there!

This is a bunny at a L’oreal lab. L’oreal does a lot of cruel needless animal testing. Please don’t buy products made by L’oreal. The more products they sell, the more animals are tortured.

FUCK LOREAL

I think it is necessary I reblog this as I have been seeing ‘vegans’ using L’Oreal products.

alwaysadoptngovegan:

For years, the National Football League Foundation, formerly known as NFL Charities, has quietly funded horrific and deadly sports-injury experiments on dogs, mice, rats, and other animals at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California–Los Angeles, the University of Notre Dame, and other schools and private laboratories.

These projects, many of which are ongoing, are crudely designed to recreate injuries on the football field. They have involved inflicting severe knee injuries on dogs, after which the animals are killed and have their legs cut off; repeatedly slamming heavy weights into rats’ heads to create brain and spinal cord injuries and skull fractures; and cutting open the heads of mice and delivering crushing blows to cause traumatic brain injuries. Many animals have even died during the studies because of the severe injuries that they sustained.

In addition to these experiments being cruel, studies have shown that they do not accurately replicate the complex injuries sustained by football players, and data and treatments derived from brain-injury experiments on animals have repeatedly failed to help human patients.

Following the NFL’s $765 million settlement with former football players who suffered head injuries during their professional careers, the league announced that it is allocating $10 million for “research and education.” But continuing to bash in animals’ heads and cripple dogs won’t help prevent and treat injuries sustained by NFL players. It’s time for a new playbook when it comes to advancing the science of treating traumatic injuries.

PleaseCLICK HERE to send polite e-mails to NFL officials urging them to stop funding cruel and wasteful experiments on animals and instead support more humane and relevant non-animal research methods, such as in vitroandin silico studies and clinical research with current and former NFL players.

The link above will send you to PETA’s website to send out an email. You don’t have to support PETA or even like PETA to know that this is wrong. This isn’t about PETA, but about cruel and needless experiments on dogs and mice. Please send an email to the NFL regardless of your feelings about PETA because this is wrong.I will be boycotting NFL games until they stop experimenting on animals (sorry Carrie—you did a great job on the Monday Night Football song but I won’t be watching anything NFL related until they stop torturing animals).

Horrible.Fuck this! Stop these pointless experiments NFL. Guess what, we already know that hitting your head a bunch of times is bad. Leave the innocent animals the fuck alone.

With the Super Bowl coming up and Americans everywhere watching football tomorrow and acting like their team winning is life or death, I just wanted to remind people that it isn’t life or death. It is just a stupid game. But for the animals being tortured and killed by the NFL, now that is life or death.

Most big brand companies that produce personal hygiene, cleaning, and makeup products test on animals. Do you spend your money on these products? Are you supporting animal cruelty/testing?

There are all natural alternatives that can replace any and all of the products produced by these companies, as well as cruelty free brands! ANIMAL TESTING IS CRUEL AND UNNECESSARY.
