#chorus
So, re-watching the Chorus trilogy for fic purposes, I realized that there are two things you could actually read in the early episodes of Season 13 that do some world building (which I love).
In Prologue, the first episode of the season, Hargrove is being broadcast on Kox News (heh), claiming “We Are Still At War” (that’s the easy part to read), underneath is the ticker which I’ve tried my best to read as much of as possible and transcribe for you.
Tensions Continue to Rise Between Human and Alien Colonists //Halcyon Cryogenics to reveal “Ground-Breaking Technology” ‘This Afternoon/Grifball Players’ Strike Entering Fourth Week, Commissioner Still Refuses to Comment//
(Little Halo lore note, Halcyon is a class of light frigates)
Then, later, in Along Came a Spider (said scene it appears in also includes an RWBY reference), you see a news scroll of headlines, which I’ve also done my best to transcribe.
It also includes a diagram of one of Charon’s rifles, an extended map of Chorus’ landmass, what I presume is a diagram of Charon’s stock, and a feed of the tractor beam temple thing.
(The news scroll was a lot harder to read because Hargrove was a dick and kept getting in the way)
Human extremists attack Sangheili embassy
Grifball strike “Still Going Strong”
Bomb Found Outside UNSC Headquarters
UNSC Company Opens Studio On Moon
Charon Stock Doubles After Monday Press Conference
Pinapple Unveils New Phone
Teen Hacks Into Oooectagon [Dodecagon?]
Prisoner Transport Ship Declared Missing
Hargrove Cons[a?]—unintelligible- Vice President
(If anyone else can transcribe more of these or transcribe them better than I have, please do)
Lovely instrumentals on this memorable song. I heard this on a local independent radio station and had to look the artist up, especially with lyrics like these:
We are awakened with the axe
Night of the living dead at last
They have begun to shake the dirt
Wiping their shoulders from the earth
I know, I know the nations past
I know, I know they rust at last
They tremble with the nervous thought
Of having been, at last, forgot

“Pull me away from my thoughts and this place. I’d be stuck without the thought of your face. Dont let time slip away, we only have today.”
- nail-in-the-wall [15.10.19] (This was written to appreciate how friendship takes you out of bad moments and how just the thought of a friend can soothe you and how the time I feel best is around mine. Its the chorus of a song I wrote about Ebbs - my favourite human - around a year ago. Speaking of songs, lol I’m so bad at this, Seb - ebbs is my nickname for him - has released a song called Breathe and its amazing! Please have a listen! Its amazing! I love it!
A cul-de-sac of televisions
switched to the same channel.
Overhead, the bleating of geese.
Attention, these days, is held
for a brief moment, the way
I might hold onions
at the market. I watch the stock
simmer on the stove. I gather,
refresh, then trade
the screen for the window,
where snow is falling decisively
in the same direction. Look
away, look back, it’s already done.
I fling wide the door to feel
which way the wind is moving,
barely open my mouth before
a new species of bird evolves
and fills the air
with uncountable versions
of the freshest song.
