Melody McCloskey is a 32-year-old CEO who raised $40 million.
She entered the start-up scene as a 26-year-old female entrepreneur with no software engineering background. The odds were stacked against her, but just 5 years later, McCloskey had co-founded StyleSeat, an on-demand beauty company that has raised $40 million in VC funding and done $3.2 billion in cumulative sales.
“You just have to wake up and say, ‘I’m going to learn from past meetings, past conversations. And I’m going to get smarter and better and I’m going to kill it in these next meetings,’” McCloskey said.

Haven’t taken vacation yet? You’re not alone. American workers leave 658 million vacation days on the table. They’re essentially working for free, and hurting their careers in the process: Workers who took at least 11 days off a year were MORE likely to have received a #raise or #bonus in the past 3 years than those who took less than 10 vacation days. “Americans work really hard, but we need vacations to give us the break, so we can work smart,” said Katie Denis, senior director of @projecttimeoff. “There are no winners when people don’t take time off.”

Today, there are more billionaires than ever. 2,473 of them, to be exact. New York City is home to the most, with 97 total.
Why do billionaires live here, when they have the money to go anywhere? “…finance remains the dominant industry for this demographic,” WealthX tells CNBC. “As a result, more billionaires are likely to be located in large financial centers such as London and New York."
Another reason: billionaires like to be surrounded by other billionaires: "There has been a rise in the concentration of wealth in recent years… This makes having some sort of presence in the likes of New York, London, and Hong Kong almost a prerequisite for billionaires."
