Human dad’s unconditional love to his rescued orphan kitten

Meet Walker the rescue cat. When he’s just a tiny ball of fluff, around 4 weeks old, he was already left to fend for himself in the streets. It’s unknown where he came from, but luckily a kind woman saw him sheltering under a car in downtown LA.

He had no mom or any siblings with him, covered in dirt and ridden with fleas. He was too young and had a little chance of survival.

He was taken in by the kind woman and nursed him back to health. She was also able to find little Walker a human dad who will love and spoil him. His human dad continued to bottle fed him and with the help of his friends with experience in saving stray cats and a great vet, his fur baby pulled through.

Julius Caesar’s assassination site is now a home to homeless cats

Anyone who has visited Rome and its antique monuments has also seen their four-legged residents: the many stray cats that bask in the sun amid the ruins.

The Roman ruins at Torre Argentina are an oasis in the middle of the city’s chaotic traffic. The site is dotted with the broken columns of four ancient temples. It was here, at a theater designed as a meeting place for politicians, and the same site where archaeologists at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) claim that it’s exact site where Roman general Julius Caesar was stabbed to death in 44 BC – which is now a Roman Cat Sanctuary for homeless cats.

As the title said, my beloved cat Dory passed away last week, 25th April at 2:30 am after 19 years together.

She had a very bad complication that made her suffering very much and I had to put her asleep with urgency. I stayed with her all the time, making her see me whille cuddling her until she was gone peacfully, the Vet gave her an anti-pain medicine before the final step.

This week has been very hard to me to handle, this type of loneliness is slowly making me going mad, glad there are my Mom’s 4 cats that are helping me, 2 of them are very cuddly, but I’m starting to need my own cats again.

This week I called 3 Shelters in my town and it seems they don’t have young adults cats, but just kittens. Everything is fine at this point. This Saturday I’ll going to meet some furry babies and lets see which couple of sibilings will reach me out:  if I’ll find a Black boy and a Calico girl.. I might gonna die, I always wished to find these type of cats one day, I’ve tongs of names for them, I can’t choose:

Hades & Persephone / Severus & Lily / Lucifer & Lilith  (Chloe already taken ) Loki & Sigyn …

For 2 boys, I just gonna mix my fictional men faves

Anyway, I’m not forced to choose right away, if with any of those babies I wont feel the Imprinting or connection or that special sparkle that makes you think “ok, you are the right one!”, there is also the fact that are still too young for adoption, they still need to be fed with Mama’s milk until 3-4 months, so I might just “pre-choose” them and waiting a couple of months untile they are ready for a new forever home. I might visit them every week so they can start to know me, my shent ecc.

We will see what the Universe or God.. whatever moves all, which couple of kitties will meet me and making us choose eachother as “Lighthouse” (I’m currently into Our Flag Means Death, so this metaphor was perfect)

Meet Chatter

Chatter was found as a kitten and was very shy. He is still getting to know that people are good. He loves to be petted if you are sitting down and he loves other cats. Chatter will need a person who understands cats and lets him get to know you on his terms and timeline.

Chatter is the sixth cat we are featuring PetPromise, Ohio and is one of many cats that could be living with love and comfort at Zen Cat Cafe once we reach our goal and open our doors!

Meet Chardonnay

Chardonnay was a young teenager when she found herself outside, dumped and pregnant. She had 3 babies and was a great mommy cat. PetPromise was able to get Chardonnay into a foster home where is is learning that people are good.

Chardonnay is very sweet and calm and loves to be petted. She does not like to be picked up so she needs someone to let her come to you on her own terms. She desperately wants love and a home of her own.

Chardonnay along with many other cats could live in comfort and get all the love attention they need while waiting to find her forever home at Zen Cat Cafe once we reach our goal!

Meet Onyx!

Onyx was rescued from a very bad situation in the Miller Kelton area. The house that she and her sibling were rescued from is a suspected drug house. Onyx and her sibling were not being taken care of and there were several other cats there, also neglected, abandoned and fending for themselves. PetPromise helped to get Onyx out of that situation and into a foster home where she thrived. She is available for adoption now. Onyx is a sweet kitty who is very docile. She gets along well with other calm and laid back cats and calm dogs.

She is also the second cat we are featuring to help show that with our Zen Cat Cafe we could be giving cat’s like Onxy a comfortable place with lots of love and attention while she waits for her forever home.

Here is the first in a series of images and stories about kitties that need to be adopted. They were rescued by PetPromise Ohio and are currently being fostered.

If there was a ZenCat Café, all these kitties (and more) would be lounging around the café with each other and their human caretakers waiting for their forever homes!

Meet Ping!

Ping was rescued as a kitten with his brother Pong. Pong was the more outgoing of the 2 kittens and got adopted very quickly. Ping was more wary of people and took some time to get to know that people are good. He is now a cuddle bug and loves to snuggle in bed with you. Ping is great with other cats and with dogs.

Last year, we sponsored Gato for a full year of care for $250.
He has been waiting for a home since 2009, and sadly he still has not found a home! We have again sponsored this sweet guy for another year.
Gato has a few strikes against him. He’s missing an eye, he’s black, he’s shy and he’s old. Even with one of those things, it’s hard to get adopted. We are hoping that someone gives him a chance!
Quite often, cats that have been waiting a long time for a home like Gato are so appreciative when they finally get adopted. If you want to adopt a friend, please consider cats like Gato who have a hard time getting noticed. Maybe this will be the year that Gato finds his person. He deserves a warm lap and someone to cuddle him!

I went to Cat Camp on Sunday to check it out, buy some stuff for my cats (er, me), and see Jackson Galaxy’s keynote. Little did I know that about 15 minutes after I arrived, Jackson Galaxy himself came out to his foundation’s table to sign pictures and take photos with people.

When it was my turn, I thanked him for all he does and shook his hand, took a photo, and then asked him as briefly as I could what I should do about getting Ares and Playbill to get along - since Playbill had started to treat Ares like prey. He asked a few additional questions and then told me that they’re not ready to be in the same room yet and to keep feeding them on opposite sides of the gate until they can eat and ignore each other. I shook his hand and left, elated, since I had no idea I’d even have the opportunity to talk to him.

So cool. He was the nicest.

I bought lots of toys for the furmonsters, donated some money to various organizations, purchased some cat wine from Apollo Peak, and bought a tank top with a meditating cat on it that says, “Meowwwwwwwm” with the literal Sanskrit translation of it below made by Squirrel Den Studio. (I mean, I obviously had to buy this t-shirt.) I also saw a talk with Lil Bub and her dude. To be honest, I’m not really familiar with Lil Bub, but I know more now, and she’s the most chill little cat ever, not to mention adorable. The Kitten Lady was there, too! But I also learned about some amazing stuff going on in the cat community that I wanted to share:

Littleman_Mika:A kitty who was born with a cleft palette. Her human is raising awareness for special needs cats.

The Cat Rescuers: A documentary about volunteers who TNR in Brooklyn. Look for it in 2018!

Kitty in NY: In-home cat caregivers! If you’re moving, or renovating, or need to travel, this is an organization that will come to your apartment and take care of your kitty. Awesome idea, since most cats don’t travel as well as Lil Bub!

Catnip Nation: Another documentary in the making, this one is about how cat videos have taken over the internet. Cosign that.

My Cat Kyle: A big black and white kitty named Kyle sat in a harness on the table for this organization. Kyle was a kitty who once witnessed a murder in his home, so this organization is about the pets that get forgotten in the midst of domestic violence and how to help save them.

Only Maine Coons Rescue: A 9-month old Maine Coon say on the table of this organization and she was BIG. She was bigger than Playbill and this Maine Coon was only a kitten! You can obviously decipher what this organization does.

The Paw Project: This is an organization that was collecting signatures in an effort to get New York State to outlaw declawing. I gave them whatever money I had on me.

Polydactyl Cats: This is an awesome cat toy company that make toys for cats that “think outside the mouse.” I bought soy sauce and duck sauce packet catnip toys for my cats. LOVE this company. Their toys are amazing

Square Paws:This is an awesome cat furniture company. They’re currently working on making NYC apartment-sized cat furniture which is great because all of their stuff is way too big for anyone’s apartment.

The Dancing Cat: This is “art for the moderately crazy cat lover.” They’re really fun photos and I would’ve bought one but I couldn’t find a tuxedo or brown tabby cat photo!

There were many others which you should totally check out on Cat Camp’s website. This was an awesome day and I can’t wait for next year!

Lil Bub and her dude.

Tumblr, meet Ares.

Two weeks ago, Justin and I went to Koneko Cat Cafe on the LES to meet a cat named Sammy who seemed like he’d be an awesome fit for Playbill. He’d been at the cafe the longest, and I felt bad for him because he was (is) super adorable. We arrived to hear that an application for him had just been approved but we were hurried in nevertheless and introduced to a four-and-a-half-year-old Tabby named Ares. We fell in love as he licked the dried tuna treats off our fingers and stared at us with his permanently grumpy face and said OK. I filled out an application and we picked him up from the UWS Petco last Sunday.

I didn’t know how hard it would be to integrate him into my apartment with Playbill, but it’s been a process. We were told to let her smell him in his carrier when we got home and we did. And she hissed so we rushed him into the bedroom, let him out of the carrier, and he immediately fell asleep on my bed.

Playbill’s area of the apartment has always been the living room, so he obviously gets the bedroom. He has his own food bowls, cat tree, and litter box in there. Justin stayed over most of the week to keep him company in the bedroom while I slept out on the couch with Playbill, so she’d know I was still here and she wasn’t alone, or being replaced.

We bought a baby gate this weekend and that’s been helping. I try to feed them both at the same time on opposite sides of the gate and I always close the door when I leave the apartment. I have a (clean) sock that I will occasionally rub on Ares and then give to Playbill to smell. Oh, and I’m also using Jackson Galaxy’s ‘Stress Stopper’ serum.

Playbill is still stressed, but Ares is a big loaf. He came from the cat cafe where he dealt with other cats all the time so he is not phased by her very occasional hissing. He will literally fall over and sleep anywhere (okay, mostly the bed right now). We might rename him Loaf, but his grumpy face just says ‘God of War,’ right?

So, it’s an ongoing process. If you have any stories to share, I’d LOVE to hear them!

PS: If you’re looking for a cat, Sammy’s application sadly fell through and he’s still available for adoption through Anjellicle Cats! He was a sweet and active little kitty.
