Some time ago I had a dream where I was feeling really bad, and was just seat in a corner while ugly crying when Freddie Mercury in his yellow shirt and blue jeans came to me and whipped the tears out of my cheeks with a soft smile on his face. Then I asked him:
+ Am I a monster?
And he told me (using Lady Gaga’s slow voice):
- No my darling, not a monster, but a best. (Then playfully “grrr” at me) And only white people are afraid of beasts, people of color respect them and live in communion with them. It is up to you to choose how you want to live up your beast.
Anyway, this part of the movie made me very happy because it reminds me of my dreamed Freddie Gaga
ABSOLUTELY CAN’T GET OVER THE FACT THAT SILENZIO BRUNO AND BRUNO FROM ENCANTO AND WE DONT TALK ABOUT BRUNO SO THEYRE ESSENTIALLY SAYING SILENZIO BRUNO AMD WAS THAT A REFERENCE!!??? WAS THAT IN PURPOSE!!???? I JUST…… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-*dies*
Watching Soul felt like a much-needed meditation and reflection. That was a one of a kind movie, I highly recommend it to anyone who feels overwhelmed in this pandemic, or like they are wasting time or not being productive, because this movie made me rethink my own mindset about these things that I’ve been feeling in the pandemic! 10/10
I just love the friendship that meilin has with her friends as this movie really brought back what being in middle-school was like. Too many moments I couldn’t help but feel second-hand embarrassment and laugh at the same time. It’s like Disney is really taking things a notch of making viewers cry from how issues are being addressed as generational trauma was one of them. Like first Encanto, now this movie as both are amazing and just movies that you can relate to in some way.
