© Leanne Boulton, All Rights Reserved Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A close-up 24mm shot, as close as I could to keep her all in frame and a lovely reaction from her. I usually shoot at the 70mm end of my standard zoom lens because I prefer the results and I like to focus on ‘character’ in my shots. Just in case anyone thought that I wasn’t versatile or capable of other kinds of shots though, nobody likes a critic when the criticism is unfounded. Enjoy!
(Phew! Been silent for a while because of various deadlines, but now they’re in the past and it seems I’m going to graduate from the animation course very soon!!)
I eventually got around to buying TVpaint and a wacom and, since I can’t seem to get pen pressure to work easily in GIMP, I decided to try out Krita, and it seems pretty neat.
Here’s my character (in full gear) for an upcoming DnD campaign, an elderly goblin paladin, Mok. Her faith in fate (or destiny?) is so strong that she literally lets a coin flip determine all important decisions for her. I can’t wait to see all the trouble this will lead her into.
The lineart is traditional ink, colors painted digitally in Krita.

Decided to watch something lighter, something more enjoyable, so, I’ve watched “Beginners” – it’s a movie with Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, which’s labelled on Wikipedia as “romantic comedy-drama” and it seems true. (Probably, Spoilers!) Main character’s (Oliver’s) father after his mother’s death comes out as gay, joins different clubs, of course, pride group, goes on parties and lives an active life and dies in four years. The main character himself always observed his parents’ relationship and noticed how “cold” they are and now he has problems with his own love life. A few months after his father’s death he met a “weird girl” (by her own words), an actress, started relationships with her, and even believing that it won’t work out, they try to build them and stay together and enjoy each other’s company. The whole movie has a very clever cut – it’s shown through flashback and non-linear storytelling. Oliver is constantly telling us different dates, showing and describing pictures – telling history. The whole theme of the movie is very interesting, we very rarely see LGBTQ+ elderly in media, especially rarely we see them happy. I also realized that I thought that young Christopher Plummer and old Christopher Plummer are two different people… P.S. The movie includes a very cute Jack Russell dog, with whom everybody talks and he talks back.

Don’t commission me to draw real people, kids. The results are a hot mess.
Christmas gift for my grandparents in the Philippines, who I’m finally spending time with in their home for the first time in over a decade. It feels good to be back with the family in their element … I only wish I was better at drawing portraits!

Jerome Jones is my character, and Marqués Pizarro (blue) is my friend’s!
Marqués became a vampire in the early 1600s, whilst Jerome only became one back in 2018 - despite the generational gap, they are best friends (Marques would disagree)
Jerome loves swimming at the beach! Sucks he can’t go out in sunlight anymore, but now he enjoys a good old bloody cocktail :D
