#female empowerment

i am sick and tired of seeing posts suggesting that both wearing the hijab and being half naked is empowering for women.
empowerment is “the giving or delegation of power or authority”.
the meaning of the hijab and other muslim coverings is the very definition of rape culture and victim blaming.
what power or authority does a woman get by wearing a symbol which suggests that she should cover her body so men won’t sexually assault her?
what power or authority does a woman get by wearing oversexualized clothes which are literally designed to satisfy the male gaze?
none. both panders to male desires. both is the exact opposite of empowerment and female liberation.
you are not woke or intersectional, you are rebranding misogynistic bullshit as empowerment.

Last season was a lot of firsts: first full snowboarding season, first box, first rail, first time in VT, first time over 30 mph, first 3 mile run (on a board), first cracked helmet, first collision with a skier, first black diamond, first double black. Crazy how much your life can change in a few months! Got to know and love a group of badasses with the biggest hearts and ironclad livers.
I never thought I would want to hit anything park EVER - why would I want to hit anything metal??- until I met a female snowboarder that inspired and EMPOWERED me. I hit my first box the very next day because of her, and I’m so lucky to call her a good friend now. Female empowerment and representation matters so much!
So excited for this next season and upcoming winter!!

Being a Online Female Gamer and What we Face…
So my BF and I were playing a mod called Osiris something (don’t remember the name) on a video game last night called Mount & Blade Warband. He bought it for me as a gift because he is amazing, but that’s not the point of this post.
Anyway, as we played I got called the usual names like “tits” and “pussy,” and he kept apologizing to me for how rude they were being and he was worried how I was taking it. I just kept responding with the same old “it’s fine, it’s been this way forever, it’s nothing new, it’s not the first time and it won’t be the last.”
But I realized something as I woke up this morning— It’s NOT fine. Women should be able to play games and not get lewd comments all the fucking time. And although it may not phase me (I’ll admit it sure as hell phased 14 year old me when I started online gaming) it may still phase other women a lot! Being objectified for our genitalia and being told to “go save yo pussy starsword, it’s the part worth savin!” Is definitely not ok, this wouldn’t fly in real life. I just wanted to put this out there, I don’t know if there is some movement specifically against this but I feel it important to talk about. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.
-MsStarSword, who is sick of saying “it’s fine.”
