Both modern feminist types and fake trads make the same error:
They SEVERELY underestimate how much work has historically been involved in running a household.
Women have historically been involved in not just cooking meals, but the growing, harvesting, preserving, and storing of food. Before the modern grocery store, running a household was a management position plus physical labor.
And that’s before you add kids into the mix.
You can look at all kinds of cultures where the division of labor goes along gender lines. Women skin animals, clean and tan hides, cut apart bone and fat and organs, smoke things, dry things, salt, brine, etc in order to prevent hundreds of pounds of food from going to waste, not to mention all the other resources that come from an animal, whether livestock or game.
And that’s just meat animals. Dairy, eggs, vegetables all require long hours of difficult physical AND mental work. Properly managing resources requires planning and organization. And no, I don’t mean a cute binder from Pinterest. You can find logs and diaries from households just a couple hundred years ago detailing what’s in the cellar and how much is being used day to day, how long things will be good, what to substitute if this or that ingredient is spoiled or runs out.
This is difficult work. It doesn’t lend itself to pretty Instagram photos.
Trad men, you’re not working all day so your wife can be soft and pretty at home. You’re working all day because she is too.
London Reportback: On International Women’s Day hundreds of feminists joined Sisters Uncut outside New Scotland Yard and Charing Cross police station to protest the MET police’s severe role in violence against women. The protest occurred on the one year anniversary of the Sarah Everard vigil at Clapham Common which was violently attacked by police just days after an officer was arrested for the murder of Sarah. Once the march reached Charing Cross the crowd set off 1000 rape alarms as a symbolic act condemning the police’s sexual violence.
The police in the UK have for a long time used their power and influence to allow an environment of misogyny and violence, half the police forces in the UK are being investigated for abusing their powers for sexual gain. UK spycops have been documented getting into sexual relationships with activists ultimately to arrest them, sometimes police have even had children with the women they’ve been lying to for years. We’ve seen on protests and when handling supposed suspects that police can get away with various levels of assualt and reports against them get buried by superiors.
We withdraw our consent, we will not be governed by people who won’t keep us safe.

i am sick and tired of seeing posts suggesting that both wearing the hijab and being half naked is empowering for women. empowerment is “the giving or delegation of power or authority”.
the meaning of the hijab and other muslim coverings is the very definition of rape culture and victim blaming. what power or authority does a woman get by wearing a symbol which suggests that she should cover her body so men won’t sexually assault her?
what power or authority does a woman get by wearing oversexualized clothes which are literally designed to satisfy the male gaze? none. both panders to male desires. both is the exact opposite of empowerment and female liberation.

I don’t think that cis men truly understand why women, trans, and nonbinary folx are hesitant to share their political beliefs.
It’s because your fellow cis men continuously threaten to destroy our entire lives for having opinions about issues that affect us.
Those of us who are able to put ourselves out there face an onslaught of violent threats, including rape and murder. When cis men are unable to compete with us intellectually, they attack our appearance or attempt to hack our online accounts. Our private information is often shared publicly for doxxing purposes. And our families, including small children, are not immune from these threats.
It’s not that we’re not into politics—it’s that we are forced to wade through the sludge of constant threats of violence from cis men for expressing our beliefs and we are so, so tired.
This election season, we saw millions of new voters register, including millions of Latinx voters. Muslims, black people, Native Americans, LGBT people, and so many women were elected to represent us. For the first time in our nation’s history, over 100 women were elected to the House of Representatives.
Last night was historic not just because of these facts, but also because we took back the House in spite of massive voter suppression efforts. Our sham of a democracy forced us to wait in three to five-hour-long lines. Our sham of a democracy purged us from the voter rolls. Our sham of a democracy changed our votes from Beto to Ted. Our sham of a democracy “ran out” of paper ballots for voters. Our sham of a democracy demanded that Native Americans living on reservations present a home address or be disenfranchised.
This election season, rich, out-of-touch white men did everything they could to take away our voice.
But you cannot silence a movement. To everyone who voted for harm reduction: thank you. To those who were beaten, castrated, burned, and murdered so that people other than white men could vote: thank you.
I am so proud of us. And now, we must keep fighting the good fight so that one day, we have a system that is truly by and for the people.
