I often encounter climate change deniers in the work that I do, so I share these facts in the hopes that they will help you convince your skeptical friends that climate change is real. One of the best ways we can act on climate change is by bringing it up in conversations with friends and in school, to help people wrap their minds around this complex and continually growing issue.
Christmas eve in Canada and I’m washing my car outside. Never thought i would be doing this
Folks, you need to care about this drought in California. It is the 5th-largest food producer in the world and the biggest in the States. Thousands of migrants risk losing their jobs as crops are quickly drying up. Food prices will inflate nationwide if this does not get better. Water rations in the state will get stricter and hit low-income communities the hardest. People may need to be moved out of California. Pre-existing inequality will worsen with the economic strain. So how much time do we have to address this? NASA estimates that California has about one year of water left. You NEED to care about this.
Here’s an idea - get people to stop wasting 1800 gallons of water for every pound of beef produced and eat less meat?
The drought is a policy issue. Please stfu with the militant veganism.
Are you serious? You talk about how dire it is to save water and the environment and somebody gives you a legitimate solution to the problem of drought and you tell them the to stfu and say veganism is worthless? You have the opinion that vegans are militant yet you shove someone’s opinion right back in their face and call something they are incredibly passionate about “worthless” yet vegans are the militant ones? Your original post is totally correct but holy crap. Please don’t ignore the facts and science (waterfootprint.org/media/downloads/Hoekstra-2012-Water-Meat-Dairy.pdf)
In addition, you say you’re feminist yet you have dairy? What about the cow mothers who are anally and vaginally raped and artificially inseminiated, forced to have babies who are then taken away (and either killed for veal or made into dairy cows) nearly instantaneously, all to be reimpregnated over and over just to produce your milk? Not your mum, not your milk - true feminism.
