as for Alastor’s new look…

Okay so I slept on it last night and maybe—just mAyBe—I’d be okay with black trimmed sleeves instead of red, the change of the design on his shirt underneath, perhaps a shorter collar, or maybe slightly bigger antlers, but those are all the changes I can think of rn that I’d be able to cope with.

I guess I can see Viv changing his pants to black now that Charlie is the one with the full red on red pant suit—a solid red pantsuit…I feel like trading their pant colors is the only thing that’s going to keep viewers from going blind without making any other major changes to Alastor at this point.

But tbh other than Alastor’s obv perfection, I’ve always wished his staff was a little bit longer idk it always just seemed pretty short for his height? If his eyes ever changed like Charlie’s I’ll flip a mother fucking table Ik ppl are sick of red on red and heard complaints about them but I just love those crazed insanely haunting tones that also can hold this soft glow to them in his gaze just gAH LOVE IT

But on another thought, what if he was given a full sized rack?? NOT THAT RACK YOU PERVS!! But not a cartoonish one like those itty bitty twig branches we see growing in the art or comics or whatev but what about realistic antlers you’d see on a six pointer?

Like this……

This is giving me mad anxiety

I don’t get anxiety

Why would you use your Twitter to haunt me for 7 days until take off while I get to sit here and wait in agony hoping he doesn’t change even though he is going to change hence the whole point of release for his new design why couldn’t you just rip it off like a bandaid like for Charlie Morningstar we already knew this was coming anyway because you already made it clear we were going to meet the rest of the cast again do not play mind games with the fandom like this I am not freaking out yOu aRE FREAKING OUT IM PERFECTLY CALM OKAY

GoodbyeCharlie Magne and Hello Charlie…..MORNINGSTAR???

NEW DESIGN SPOILER

Okay, so LOTS of controversial talk here so I’ll break it down:

  • She’s still adorable, but somehow went from Disney Princess to Hilary Clinton wannabe
  • Major concerns of her color scheme washing out the rest of the main cast now that she’s resembling a certain someone.
  • Surname change is a warning for threats of mainstream influence?
  • Is A24 behind this???

So I’m still loving the hair, this hairstyle has actually already made an appearance in the pilot once on Charlie, with the exception of two, instead of three, hair bands now being used—and we also get to enjoy that ‘Princess Jasmine’ feel

Eye Color

Good news: She appears to stand more apart from her parents now.

Bad news: She blends in more with the rest of the demons in hell, and her more humane character is no longer emphasized.

As you can see, her new lenses are designed to be introverted to those of her full demonic form. While it makes perfect sense, unfortunately, angry Charlie will not have its full potential of visual effect with such a small contrast between the two ‘differential’ appearances now ‍♀️

Outfit

Now, someone brought up a very interesting point how this choice of fashion could have brought a character arc if Charlie’s style had slowly evolved through out the progressing show of how Alastor was beginning to rub off on her. I’m not going to lie, I would have like to see that, but it’s been announced this is her new design.

If, I’m being honest here, though, I really do enjoy Vivzie’s unique and colorful backdrops and style for Hazbin Hotel, but all of her character’s very similar aesthetics have always bugged me a little, with Alastor’s bold choice of attire always standing out as an exception………though that does not seem to be the case anymore, which is pretty disappointing. If Alastor did not exist (Hell forbid), fine whatever, I probably wouldn’t mind her new look so much.

But. He. D O E S.

(She’s draining the death out of the poor lad, my poor baby T-T)

Here, we now can tell Charlie has gained a piercing, red glowing gaze, a long collar that reaches her chin, old fashioned shoulder pads, and a bright, matching, blood red suit….not at all familiar (that untucked shirt tho….for the love of Satan pls tuck it in I-I can’t—). Not only is her new look going to take away her own originality, but sadly, Alastor’s as well. Just walking into the same room as him is going to give the viewers epilepsy.

In her first official design, Charlie’s coral-colored blazer captured her bubbly persona well and highlighted her blushing cheeks on her cheery expressions, while her black slacks kept her color scheme at bay and provided her outfit with the necessary accent for an adorably butch touch. While her before and after are both business savvy, she now appears much more professional and mature in her relaxed, yet composed, position than she really is.

As for CharlieMorningstar….. ᴿᴱᴬᴸᴸᵞ?

Like if Vivzie didn’t like her old surname, fine, whatever, but…..wow, okay. Lucifer Magne, and Charlie Magne, were both simple, yet classy, titles. Magne translates to Norse meaning all mightyorwarrior.Morningstar is the Latin translation for Lucifer. So, yes, in a nutshell, Lucifer’s full name is going to mean ‘Morningstar Morningstar.’ Charlie Morningstar, will now be tied closer to her father’s reputation, both literally and figuratively.

Вυт wнy Мornιngѕтar?

This is the exact same name belonging to Lucifer Morningstar in the hit series Lucifer on Netflix. We see multiple appearances of ‘Lucifer’ in modern religious fiction such as Supernatural,Good Omens, etc etc. but this obviously isn’t a regular fannon thing; this name exclusively belongs to the original Netflix main character of that franchise. So why trade in a perfectly good surname and copy it??

This reason still remains unclear, as this new artwork of Charlie Morningstar was just announced on Twitter mere hours ago. Fans are already speculating that the choice suspiciously sounds like A24, despite Vivzie being quite excited about these new changes for the Princess of Hell.

One theory suggests more popularity for the show by conforming to the bigger public by appealing to the mainstream masses of audience, another claims that forcing Vivzie to change Charlie’s name and design will classify her as a ‘new’ character in copyright complications, this way she will no longer have rights to her if A24 owns the main protagonist of Hazbin Hotel. This would give them more control and rights to the franchise in a way, which would be pretty terrible.

Thankfully, this seems incorrect.

I really do hope that’s the last ‘major’ change though, because the fandom has already taken a huge blow last October when Gabe was outright fired from Alastor’s singing role, and Elsie was replaced for Charlie’s singing as well for more reasons due to claims of ‘contracting’ purposes, which again, were unknown, until I was able to dig up less popular information many are not aware of thanks to @hellozanybouqetshark , tysm for bringing this to my attention!

Edit:

This user claimed A24 was reputable for being very creator friendly, and indeed, that is fortunately correct.

It turns out the real reason the half the main cast was cut— including Michael Kovich (Angel Dust), Gabriel C. Brown (Alastor’s singing VA), Elsie Lovelock (Charlie’s singing VA), Krystal LaPorte (Cherri Bomb), Michelle Marie (Niffty), and Josh Tomar (Tom Trench) —was because Vivziepop actually made another contract with Bento Box Animation around the same time everyone got the slip. BBA is a production company that was bought out by Fox Entertainment in the summer of 2019.

Well, there you have it, she signed through a union agency through Bento Box Animation that may have been mandatory under their terms for contracting. Signing with an agency like the SAG strictly requires companies not to affiliate with non members like indie artists.

Conclusion:

It seems all of Charlie’s changes were strictly Vivzie’s own choice, including her new name Charlie Morningstar, which is sure to capture the attention of future fans from other similar fandoms that include biblical lore, primarily Lucifer, justin time for the upcoming second debut of the Hazbin Hotel series (date unknown).

Vivzie had personally already gotten terrible harassment and threats in emails and DMs, etc. from calls that weren’t her own a couple months ago, so on top of seeing her own cast butchered, she got to be the one to take the heat from thousands of angry rampaging fans just overnight. So, please, even if you hate some changes with a burning passion, or don’t really care, or maybe like it, don’t attack Vivziepop, last year was a nightmare for her :(

alastanor:

So I have rewatched the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel more times than I care to admit. And every time I watch it there is a line Alastor says that really sticks out to me. Like a window into an aspect of who he is.

This scene is one of the very first we get of Alastor following his warning. To which, I think, makes it both important and actually quite telling. For multiple reasons.

For starters, Alastor was honest with Charlie and Vaggie from the moment he walked in the door. This goes against any concept we have, knowing his origins as a serial killer. Serial killers, as we all know, lure in victims and evade suspicion through dishonesty (not to mention serial killers have a tendency to kill to get some sort of sexual gratification, where Alastor is Asexual so the pieces don’t line up there). But Alastor is honest about his desire to watch demons fail at trying to better themselves. He is honest about the reason why he believes Charlie’s dream will fail, which by itself gives us a hint into who he may very well be.

That hint is that Alastor actually has a very strong sense of justice. So much so that he feels those in hell deserve to be in hell. Not just so much that they can’t be redeemed, but that they shouldn’t. For this reason, he wants to see them punished- to see them “trip and fall into the fiery pit of failure.”

His sense of justice may have well been warped in the same way a yandere’s concept of a loving relationship is warped. And that is something else I will get to in a moment.

If Alastor truly does kill out of some concept or personal sense of justice, the story Vaggie tells of Alastor toppling powerful overlords who had been dominant for centuries makes sense. We know, from what we have seen in the pilot, the Addict MV, and some comics that the Overlords are some of the most malicious demons in hell. If Alastor cleaned house, it is very possible that the overlords he killed were far more malicious than the ones that are left.

But back on track, Alastor doesn’t come off as some creepy serial killer to me. Yes, he may have been one in life but that doesn’t necessarily mean he was psychotic as he is sometimes portrayed. And my reason for that is, ironically, this:

Alastor straight up says, basically, “yeah, I can kill you, but I’m not going to.” And this isn’t the only instance of this we have.

The butcher, who we know was initially harassing a demon in his shop (as Alastor saw), reaches for his cleaver to attack Alastor. Whether out of fear or maybe he gets his meat from every animal-esque demon that passes through. Who knows. But Alastor saw the butcher as a potential threat and gave a similar warning to the one he gave Vaggie.

Which, for anyone who has seen my posts before, this was the butcher’s strike two. His first was getting caught harassing his customer, to which Alastor civilly intervened. Only to demonstrate his ability during strike two. His strike three was when he was caught trying to hurt and possibly kill the lamb patron.

Which brings me to what may have caused this skewed sense of justice in Alastor.

In the image above, look at Alastor’s face. He hears the scuffle inside, and freezes. The expression on his face is one of clear shock. It is a common theory in the fandom that this was significant for Alastor. Perhaps because he witnessed his mother, who he loved so very much, get abused. Unknown by whom, assumed to be his father, but either way this could very well be another clue.

What I personally theorize is that Alastor did witness his mother getting abused in some manner or another. Perhaps more than one. Which wasn’t that uncommon in his time period, as divorce still carried a heavy stigma in society throughout the early 1900s. You were looked down upon for divorcing your spouse for any reason, with the exception of adultery, bigamy, and impotence. So his mother likely stayed in the abusive marriage because she had to, and Alastor was powerless to do anything about it until he was a grown man. But witnessing that injustice night after night likely brought about what inevitably made him a serial killer.

But who were his typical targets? I believe, not unlike how he was in life, anyone he came across that “deserved” punishment met their end by his hands. Alastor played the role of judge, jury, and executioner. This, of course, was a sin for which he was punished.

Not to misdirect, but I remember reading somewhere that in life he hunted deer. If this is true, I thought that was rather ingenious. Invite a shit person along on a hunting trip, and they have an “accident” while hunting. Never to return again. And even if he somehow got linked to a discovered body in the woods, assuming one was ever found, he can easily say it was accidental death or flat out deny it, and they couldn’t exactly disprove anything he said. Especially when you consider how bad investigative technology was back then.

There definitely seems to be a method to his madness. Mind, he did try to kill Sir Pentious at the end of the pilot, and definitely seemed pleased with himself… but to be fair he was more of a threat with his machine pointed at Alastor than a butcher reaching for a cleaver or a moth demon girl with a spear. Not to mention Sir Pentious doesn’t seem to care who he hurts. Even if he is an absolute dork while doing it.

But to conclude, I definitely think Alastor is a much deeper character than people think. All the characters are very deep, we have gotten a look into some of the depth to Angeldust. And I think that alone should herald some interesting depth to all of the main Hazbin Hotel cast.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

This is it.

This is the one.

If this isn’t true, I don’t know what is - one of the most thought out analysis’ I’ve ever read, and one that deserves so much more attention than what it has! Fabulous job - I believe you hit bullseye!

So in that Helluva episode, Mrs. Maryberry finds out what happen on Earth after she had died. How did that happen? How does she know Margret was getting money and called a hero? Does Hell have some special TV channel where you can watch your enemies living their best life? Is is part of the punishment to know that she failed in her final task? Was she a ghost for a little bit and forced to witness all this before she fell? I have so many questions.
