#horseback
ding dong hello just popped in to say:
that moment when character has been traveling by horseback for days while severely injured/seriously ill/utterly exhausted and they can hardly keep themself upright in the saddle, their skin ashen and dull, their eyes unfocused. a layer of sweat coats their skin and their hair hangs in damp strands about their face. they force their burning eyes up and the last thing they see is the watery shape of a town or outpost up ahead before their body finally gives out and they’re helpless to stop themself as they tip sideways from the saddle, landing heavily—painfully—on the ground.
*bites knuckles* I mean, am I right or wrong? (i’m right)
to add:
what if their visions wavers and blurs and they see horses approaching and every time they blink the horses are way closer, and when they drag their head up, they realize they’re surrounded and they recognize the emblem and it’s not friendly. the half-stutter of their heartbeat and the ringing in their ears and the way everything slowly grays out.
they don’t remember hitting the ground.
