Pair of Zitan compound cabinets and hatchests,

Sijiangui, 19th century,

Each cabinet is of massive rectangular form. The hatchest has square panel doors, elaborately carved in deep relief with a single dragon chasing a flaming pearl amidst clouds, above the larger cabinet set with single-panel doors finely carved with four five-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl amidst swirling clouds, below a single horizontal panel carved with dragons confronting a flaming pearl.

The doors are centered around a removable stile, and open to reveal the shelved interior, above the shaped apron carved en suite with confronting dragons. Each cabinet is fitted withbaitong metal hardware and the feet are clad in baitong sabots.

Constructed from the precious hardwood, zitan, the present pair represent an extremely luxurious use of a rare wood that was highly valued during the Qing dynasty. Zitan is a general term which includes numerous species of wood, however, it is commonly agreed that it belongs to the genus Pterocarpus. A purplish-black, fine-grained hardwood, zitan was considered the most prized hardwood by the Chinese.

The density of the wood makes this material especially suitable for fine and intricate carving. The wood’s scarcity was compounded by the fact that the trees themselves are slow growing and require centuries to fully mature into usable material. Although local sources of zitan exist in the southern provinces of Yunnan, Guangdong and Guangxi, much of the material was imported from Southeast Asia.

As an imported commodity, its use was scrupulously monitored and carefully restricted at the Imperial workshops.

I think the Acclamator is my favourite ship from the prequels and the Clone Wars. Massively underrated and under used ship. I think it is classed as an Assault Ship, but, to me it is definitely a Star Destroyer.

The TIE Skirmisher Mk.2, or the TIE Skirmisher Advanced.

Developed by the Imperial Remnant from its new TIE/sf, the TIE/ska featured solar panels that lifted up when the fighter entered an atmosphere.

The Imperial Remnant had limited ship building facilities, so, while new fighters and ships were being developed, they had to try and modify designs that were already tried and tested, to try and get an edge over the New Republic and other enemies.

The TIE Fast Torpedo Bomber, or TIE/ftb. Pretty much exactly what it looks like, the TIE Bomber hull with TIE Interceptor solar panels. Also had the Interceptors 4 lasers, giving it more of a punch, and the Interceptors engines.

One of my head cannon theories is that the First Order used ships that had already been developed by the Imperial Remnant.

So, here is a TIE/sf of the Imperial Remnant.

TIE/sk, or the TIE Skirmisher, of the Imperial Remnant

TIE Fighter, Interceptor, and Bomber, of the Imperial Remnant.

Decided to give the Remnant the lighter coloured solar panels, to show some progression from the Empire to the First Order.

TIE/fo and TIE/sf of the first post First Order faction I have decided to create, the Blood Order.

Would actually like to see a Star Wars show, live action or animated, about a TIE Fighter squadron.

Set just before, and then after, the Battle of Endor, it would be about how the pilots deal with not just an Empire that is falling apart, but what they believe in, and have to question what they are fighting for. Some change sides. Others stay loyal.

This started off as just a simple TIE Fighter repaint. Originally, the backstory for it was going to be the TIE Fighter used by a mercenary. But … I think the colours worked really well, so now I am thinking of doing a whole post-empire Imperial faction that use this colour scheme.

Maybe just head canon stuff, I don’t know …

I always kind of think that the First Order started as a nationalistic political movement within the Imperial Remnant, particularly popular amongst the military.

In my head cannon, the IR is made up of many different pro-Imperial factions, and, although united under one cause, there is always a lot of infighting and jostling for positions. That is one reason why the New Republic didn’t take the FO very seriously, even when the FO got strong enough to take control of the IR as a whole, the NR just assumed it was yet another Imperial faction that would fall away eventually.

Also have always thought that a lot, if not most, of the ships the FO use, like the TIE/sf, and the TIE Silencer, and the Resurgent Class SD, were either already in use by the IR, or were being developed already.

New TIE Fighter variant, the TIE/sk, or the TIE Skirmisher.

Kind of inspired by the TIE that lands in episode 7 of The Mandalorian.

Another micro machines Star Destroyer mod. This one is, very obviously, based on the smaller Victory Class. I’m going to call it the Triumphant Class.

So, a little experiment. Which Star Destroyer looks better? SD1 on the left? Or SD2 on the right?

SD1 is painted a light grey … Vallejo’s Sky Grey, with a wash over it. I think it looks more like the same colour as the Imp ships by FF. BUT. Sometimes I think it loojs a little too dark, especially when you look at the ships in the films, which look quite light. So. SD2 is painted with Vallejo’s Silver Grey, again with a wash over it (it will probably get a second wash yet).

What I’ve Been Up To (Thirteen)

High-key, I feel like I’ve been doing too many of these lately, but since I keep going dark (as per my own standards…)

Hello followers, and welcome anyone who happens to see this because it was reblogged or you happen to be rudely looking over someone’s shoulder who is gazing at this post. Though it is not my real name, on and offline I go by Sai and I give to you [drumroll] yet ANOTHER WIP character!

-_____________-

My motivation to write has been shot so I’ve just been chilling mostly. Not making progress, not thinking about any of my stories. Honestly, it feels bad, but it’s fine.

Reason being is that in order to try and deliver the highest quality of shots (for my stories) that I feel like posting, the post work just feels too long for my personal liking. Don’t get me wrong, people do more than I do, and I respect that, but for someone [read: myself] who has been simply doing captions for as long as I’ve been writing these Skyrim stories since [reads notes] the 26th of June in the year 2014 the jump to doing all this stuff post screenshotting is, again, a bit much. Don’t get me wrong it’s satisfying, but it’s just long as fuck. So for a bit I wish to return to my roots, and the reason I even got into Skyrim as much as I did in the first place, character creation.

-_____________-

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, to shed light on what I’ve been up to, well… I have been listening over and over to Crossfade’s first two albums, and I’m actually surprised that they AREN’T broken up. D:

Other than that… I’ve been messing around [poorly] with outfits. Surprisingly, the textures didn’t come out bad for anything I worked with. :O
