Republicans in the Senate are not even pretending to give a shit about the sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh. They do not care about women. They care about nothing but the acquisition of power.

If there’s something I learned from working with sexual assault survivors and being one myself, it’s that no two people deal with trauma the same way. Some laugh. Some rage. Some cry. The very last thing a survivor needs is to feel like they need to conform to some “typical” or “proper” way of reacting. This is why true advocates for survivors will never pressure them into speaking to the police or reporting. The most empowering thing you can do for a survivor is to deeply listen and let them make their own choices about what to do next.

Let’s do that for each other. Let’s make radically caring space for each other, OK? Let’s honor each other’s choices as survivors of the cishetpatriarchy. Some of us will be in the streets fighting. Some will be in the courts fighting. Some will be battling from the internet or our phones. Some need to tune out and not engage right now at all. None of us are “doing it” wrong.

Yesterday, a white woman — a woman with a PhD, a “credible” and “deferential” and “calm” and “articulate” woman testified about the sexual abuse she experienced at the hands of a monster named Brett Kavanaugh — and Kavanaugh will still be confirmed to the Supreme Court.

To the 53% of white women who voted for Donald Trump because they thought his administration would protect them:

You were wrong.

You will always be objects to be used and abused by the good old boys’ club.

This is the America that YOU voted for.

The Supreme Court welcomes its newest justice Tuesday as Brett Kavanaugh takes the bench for his first arguments since a contentious Senate voted narrowly to confirm him, cementing a decades-long campaign by conservatives to reshape the nation’s highest court.

On Monday evening Kavanaugh, 53, joined family members, friends and President Trump at the White House for a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony, where the new justice tried to ease the partisan wounds from his confirmation process.

“The Supreme Court is an institution of law. It is not a partisan or political institution,” Kavanaugh said. “The justices do not sit on opposite sides of an aisle. We do not caucus in separate rooms. The Supreme Court is a team of nine, and I will always be a team player on the team of nine.”

I’m bothered by “civility” politics…

[reddit comments]

“It’s just boys being boys.”
“He was just a young boy then!”
“He was drunk!”
“It was a different time then!”

If you ever wonder why it takes women 5, 10, 25, 35 years to come forward it is because they have heard comments like these come from their grandparents, parents, teachers and trusted adults for their entire lives. They went from learning “good touch bad touch” to “he’s just a young boy with a bright future, you wouldn’t want to damage that!!”

What about her damage? What about the trembling of her fingers as the flash backs come? What about the round, palpable pit in her stomach and her throat that never really seems to go away, and grows like cancer during times like these? What about her anxiety? What about her fear? What about her future? What about her?

You defend grab em by the pussy, you defend “locker room talk”. yet you sit by the door with your shotgun when a young man rings the door to take your daughter on a date? You say it’s boys being boys or that you don’t believe her when she says a man invaded her body but you would kill a man who invaded your house?

It doesn’t hit home when it’s Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
You don’t believe her when it’s Sunni Welles.
You don’t believe her when it’s Aly Raisman.
You don’t believe her when it’s Jade Capua.
or Arianna Guerrero.
or Rachael Denhollander.
or Lysette Anthony.
or Juls Bindi.
You don’t believe her…

Would you believe your own daughter?
Would you believe your mother?
Your granddaughter?

Would they even feel comfortable enough to tell you???
