Christmas Stockings Part 3
Alexis and Kate were wandering around Bloomingdales, taking in the Christmas decorations and grinning to each other at the sight of the long line of kids waiting to see Santa.
“There’s your future, right there,” Kate teased her stepdaughter, her grin deepening into a smile as Alexis caressed her just barely showing belly.
“My past and present too,” Alexis retorted good-naturedly. “Dad and I never missed seeing Santa when I was little, and Roman and I took his nieces out last week.”
Kate laughed. “I’m always afraid your father is going to want to sit on Santa’s lap along with the rest of the kids.”
“I asked him to do that once when I was about three,” Alexis mentioned. “I’d just gotten the stranger danger lesson at preschool, and I was terrified of the big guy. I begged him to come sit with me and he did. Gotta say, Santa was a good sport about it.”
“I think we all lucked out with your dad,” Kate said and Alexis smiled at that.
“Have you got a stocking yet?”
“No, I mean I’m not that far along, this won’t be Boo’s first Christmas.” Alexis looked at her stepmother quizzically.
“We got Lily’s two months before she was born,” Kate cajoled.
Alexis laughed.
“We don’t even know what we’re having, and we’re still arguing about whether we want to know.”
Kate nodded. “Well, don’t take this as ‘advice’ per se, but I don’t regret finding out. First with Lily just wanting to make sure she was all right after your dad and I were shot…”
Alexis shuddered.
“…And then finding out I was having twins scared me to death. I needed everything to be just so.” Kate chuckled. “Nothing is – or ever will be – ‘just so’, let me disabuse you of that notion, I just needed to control what I could control. So, yeah, I don’t regret it, but sometimes I’m a little sad I missed the surprise. You’ll decide what’s best for you, but we should still get you a pink and a blue stocking so you’re prepared for next year.”
“You talked me into it,” Alexis laughed. “Let’s go get them.”
The two women steered themselves to the stocking display.

This post isn’t about the Yetis. This post is for the North East Air Ambulance.
At our Christmas meal, one of our older standing members, Paddy, donated some of his previous year’s Yeti hoodies to be raffled away. With all the proceeds going to a charity that is quite close to some of us. Even though it was last minute, we had so much interest we raised over £75! £75 to go towards helping the selfless help others. Our winners were so chuffed with their prizes, thank you so much for this opportunity Paddy.
What a lovely way to end the University year.
