My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
He has shown the strength of his arm,
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

I am a thousand-year promise.
The children pray “hail mary, full of grace,”
lining their cage with platitudes,
but to speak my tongue, your mouth has to burst
with crumbling kingships,
your brow cluster with a graveyard of crowns.
To speak my words you have to know that “god”
means “crack in the history books,”
you have to whisper words of wisdom: burn it down.
I come not to bring peace but a sword:
that’s the miracle my body knows how to birth.
I am milk to the despairing
and famine to Mark Zuckerberg.
Ave maria: hail to my ocean of birds.
Hey buddy! Nice golden tower you got there,
shame if something happened to it!
I am afraid. Not the way you think.
I can make a god but not be one.
I can bring revolution but I can’t predict its chords.
The cells of my body are with god
and become god: illuminate, filigreed,
an amniotic galaxy–holy parthenogenesis!
I am magnified through the lord,
too bright to witness myself.
Hail to my moon-valleys
and the magma in my blood,
hail the pearly gates between my thighs.
What I do know is sometimes,
when god closes the doors

and we’re gonna fuck it up,
and the choices we make now
will ring for years
in ways that we can’t fathom yet
and what is that but childbirth?
All that can save us is love
and matches,
so light a candle. Sing my song.
