Intering With Ground Zero: Part 10

“It really is beautiful.” Your voice carried into the wind, nothing for it to bounce off of and come back to you. Lacing your fingers together you clasped your hands between your legs. Gazing down over the ledge you sat on, the occasional gentle tap of your heel on the side of the resort. Bakugou grunted in responce. Lounged back with his hands planted on the rooftop behind him as the two of you watched as the birds dance through the golden sky, disapearing into pastel clouds.

After the party you’d wanted to get away for a moment. Feeling a little overwhelmed, memories of an empty childhood fueling your distaste for holidays and birthday celebrations. Contrasting in such a full night, it left you feeling a bitter sweet bliss. Surrounded by loved ones, friends who had become family while overcominh dull memories of why this day had come to be nothing more than another day to you. It felt strange.

Still you took comfort in finding a quiet place to watch the sunset. Bakugou having wandered off himself to find you. The two of you sat primarily in silence, watching as in the distance Hugo plodded around below at the treeline, picking flowers as curious woodland animals scurried away at the walking mountain approaching.

“So you and Dunce-face eh?” Bakugou grumbled after time melted into nothing and the sun crept lower on the horizon. Shifting his focus from the trees to your profile. Eyes drinking in your glow, how your hair fell behind your ears, the way your nose swooped and your lips puckered when you were lost in thought. Feeling a strange pang in his chest as the words left his lips. Whilst still maintaining a cool and indifferent exterior.

“We had a moment I guess, he’s really sweet if you get him alone.” You explained with a shrug. Mimicking Bakugou’s lounged back position you turned to face him. Struck by how much the golden hour light brought out his eyes. Eyes that gave a hint at him perhaps not being so indifferent after all.

Taking a moment of silence Bakugou pulled back from the edge of the roof. Shifting he turned to face you. “So you want to be with him.” He moreso stated than asked, allowing a bit of a frown to etch into his features. Creace forming in his brow as the thought proved to piss him off a bit more than you’d have expected from…well your boss.

“I don’t know, maybe. I’m not looking to rush into anything but its nice to feel mushy with someone I guess.” You admitted, tilting your head to the side; attempting to get a better read on him.

“Tsk, well it doesn’t have to be with the first one who shows intrest.” Bakugou rasped. Muscles visibly tensing as he broke your gaze. Shifting back to sit cross legged and watch the horizon again.

“Duh, and he’s hardly the first to show intrest. I have a life outside the agency Bakugou, you know that right?” Suddenly feeling a bit defensive, and wanting his focus back you reached a hand over and turned his shoulder. Making him face you again.

“Do you? I wouldn’t know I guess. With you spending so many late nights in the office your practically live there.” Bakugou pressed. Keeping his positioning but allowing you to make him look at you yet again. Your retort falling on deaf ears as his quip hardly held importance to what was really on his mind.

“Hello? Earth to Bakugou?” Waving a hand in front of his face you quirked a brow when he failed to respond.

At this Bakugou drew in a deep breath, pulled himself up to his knee. Before you could comprehend what was happening he planted a hand on the ground next to your hip, placing the other on the back of your neck. His face brought close so quickly you only had a moment to flick your doe eyes from his red gaze down to his partially parted lips before he pressed them into yours.

Using the leverage of the hand tangled in your hair to press you even closer into the kiss. Parting his lips against yours as you melted into his assertive touch. Stomach swimming with an eruption of feelings, his smell wrapping around you. The taste of birthdsa cake still on his lips and tongue as he guided you into a deeper lip lock. Soon his other hand was gripping you hip. Traveling up your side until both hands held your cheeks, tilting your face up as he delved his tongue deeper into your mouth.

Knelt above your seated position as the last of the sunset melted from the sky. Leaving you bathing in the dusk, entangled with him, letting go being the farthest thing from your mind.

“I have to ask,” you said with a sigh, not sure if you wanted to know the answer, “Why do you compliment all the other girls and not me?"

Throughout your time at UA, you had gotten really close with Denki. The two of you were like brother and sister from day one. So you understood why he wouldn’t talk about you, but it was the fact Mineta had never bothered you that confused you. Of course you’re very glad Mineta doesn’t bother you, but it kinda hit your self-esteem. If the most desperate person in the world wasn’t interested in you, who would be?

Mineta visibly gulped, looking up at Denki for help. When you looked over to Denki, you see him rubbing his face in frustration. For a moment he sits there with his eyes closed, but then he looks up at you with a strained smile, "Look, we would tell you but-”

Mineta cut him off, “-we really can’t. It’s nothing personal, really. I would love to gush about how sc-”

Denki placed a finger on Mineta’s neck, a small shock of electricity zapping the perverted boy. You watched with an amused smile as he fell over from the attack. Before he could get up and cause a scene with Denki, Denki began to speak to you, “We promise it’s nothing against you, we just don’t want to piss a certain someone off.” He gave you a quick wink before standing up from the arm of the chair.

“Who would you piss off?” you asked with a confused expression.

“Telling you would also piss off that person, so I guess you’ll have to figure out on your own,” he smiled at you, ruffling your hair a little. Mineta finally stood up from the ground, muttering angry words at your best friend. He didn’t seem to bothered by him, instead walking down the halls of the dorms towards his room. Mineta angrily followed him, yelling at him the entire way.

“What was that all about?” Mina asked you as she plopped herself across your lap. You laughed at the girl, looking down at her as she stretched out her back and placed her arms behind her head. She looked at you expectantly, waiting for an answer.

“I asked Mineta and Denki why they don’t talk about me like they do the others,” you explained to her. She nodded, telling you to continue, “And they said that someone scared them into not messing with me."

Mina nodded, her brows furrowing in concentration, "It’s probably Bakugo."

You burst out laughing, small tears forming in your eyes. The mere thought of Bakugo looking out for you? Not possible. You would believe that Todoroki liked you more than you would believe Bakugo does. But when you looked down at Mina, you saw no hints of humor in her expression.

"Wait,” you snorted, trying to calm yourself down. But it just kept getting funnier, “You actually think that Bakugo has a crush on me? Bakugo? Angry Pomeranian Bakugo? You think that he likes me?”

“Yeah probably,” Mina said with a steady tone. You looked at her in disbelief.

“Mina,” you said in a level tone, “you seriously think that the boy who calls us all ‘side characters’ has a crush on me? I mean, every single conversation we have ends in an argument. Why in the world do you think that he likes me?"

Mina shrugged, looking away from you and onto the ceiling, "He smiles with you.”

A twinge set off in your chest at her words. He smiles with you. The feeling was a little unsettling. It made you feel restless, made your brain think just a little faster than you could comprehend. But Mina was right. He does smile with you a lot. Part of the reason you pick fights with him in the first place.

“He smiles with Kirishima too,” you argued uselessly, causing Mina to laugh at you.

“That’s true,” she giggles, “I guess I was just reading into things.”

If you were honest with yourself. you were slightly worried that she would be wrong.

“Yeah…” you said in a slightly deflated tone, “maybe."

"What if it’s Sero? I could see the two of you together,” Mina comments, pointing at Sero with her foot, “Seems more your type."

You laughed at her, "Oh really? What is my type exactly?"

"Affectionate ones, I’d assume. Someone you get along with, who doesn’t question you."

"Doesn’t question me?"

"Yeah, like someone who would just immediately take your side on things. Someone who trusts you and your opinion completely. That’s why you and Bakugo would never work out. He’d challenge you too much. Be hopeful it isn’t him. Don’t know how you’d approach that mess."

You scoffed, "Yeah. Just the thought of Bakugo liking me is weird. I can’t believe I thought about it for a moment there."

The two of you laughed for a second, but unlike Mina’s, your laughter was fake. You didn’t want someone who followed you blindly. You want challenging. You want someone who is a partner. Not a follower. But how could you tell her that?

You heard someone clearing their throat behind you, causing you to turn to them. When you realized who it was, your entire body went cold. It was Bakugo. He stood there with a completely blank expression, but you knew it was fake. You saw past the mask, you saw the pain your words caused. And it broke your heart.

"I-” you started in attempt to explain, but Bakugo just looked away from you and turned around. For a moment you just watched him walk away. You didn’t know what to do. But you could tell that you didn’t have much time to think about it. So you pushed Mina from your lap and took off running after the boy. Bakugo walked faster, getting into the elevator and rapidly pressing the button for his floor. You almost didn’t make it, but at the last second you managed to get into the elevator right before it closed completely.

“Let me explain,” you begged him, but he just stepped away from you, unable to look into your eyes.

“Bakugo,” you plead with the boy, a strain in your voice. Any second now the elevator would make it to his floor and he would be able to get away. If he got away, you’d never get to explain. You would never fix this. So instead, you stopped the elevator.

“Hey!” Bakugo yelled, reaching for the button. You stood in front of it, blocking him from hitting the button.

“Listen to me,” you cried out, “Please just hear me out! I swear if you just listen to me and let me explain everything, I will let you go. Bakugo, just please give me a chance, okay?"

Bakugo stared you down for a moment, his guards slowly building themselves back up. Finally he just stepped away from you and nodded.

"Fine,” he gave in, “I’m actually interested in what you wanna say."

He spoke in such a sour tone, causing your heart to race. You gulped, trying to figure out how you wanted to say this.

"Mina, she was wrong,” you said slowly, “You probably heard her saying that we, l-like me and you, wouldn’t work out because you were too challenging. But she was wrong. I really like it when I’m challenged. I like it when someone checks for flaws in my plans, someone who doesn’t just follow me, but one that helps me suceed further by questioning me. Someone who makes me think, someone who really tests my morals."

"Yeah and? Why are you telling me this?"

"Because I lied earlier. I-It’s not weird to think that you like me. It’s actually something I think about a lot. A lot more than I should honestly. You annoy me. So much. But you just-” you stopped speaking whenever you saw that Bakugo wasn’t even looking at you. He just stood there, leaned back onto the wall of the elevator. His hands were tucked away in his pockets and his eyes were to the ground. It was like he wasn’t even listening anymore. You sighed, realizing that there was no fixing this. He wasn’t interested. You were just a little too late.

“Just what?” Bakugo asked quietly, still unable to look up at you.

You sighed, turning towards the elevator buttons, “You make me smile."

The moment your hand reached forward to start the elevator, Bakugo’s hand gripped onto your wrist, spinning you around to face him. He quickly backed you up to the elevator doors, his lips staying centimeters away from yours. One hand rested on the door of the elevator while the other firmly gripped your waist, keeping you held to him. Your hands were rested against his chest, greedily holding onto his shirt.

There were no words said between the two of you, but that was perfectly fine. You didn’t need to hear his voice to understand what he was wanting to tell you, the look in his eyes was enough. The way his eyes looked so deeply into yours, as if he had never seen a shade more beautiful than the ones he was seeing then. The way his eyes would slowly fall, how life began to play in pink when his gaze fell upon your lips. Words had no worth in this moment.

You leaned forward slightly, your eyes never once straying from Bakugo’s. He hesitated a moment, looking down towards your lips and pulling away slightly. But when he looked back up into your eyes, every guard broke down for a milisecond. But it was enough time for you. You saw it. You got to see Bakugo. The real one. The one who is a little vulnerable. The one who wants to be loved. The one who wants to be told that he’s good enough. The broken boy that he spends his entire life hiding.

“Hey,” you whispered to him, lifting your hand up to cradle the side of his face, “You’ll feel safe again one day.”
“I do right now,” he muttered, finally pressing his lips to yours. Your breath caught in your throat and your entire body sets on fire. Bakugo’s grip tightened around you, removing his hand from the wall and pressing you completely against it. His spare hand held your face gently, When the kiss finally came apart, Bakugo continued holding you, a small smile on his face.

“We really should get out of the elevator,” you whispered with a chuckle. Bakugo just rolled his eyes and slightly pulled away from you, keeping his grip on your waist. He leaned over and pressed the button, letting the elevator continue to his floor.

When the doors open, you go to step forward. However Bakugo holds you back, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind you, nuzzling his face into your neck.
“Are we not getting off?”

Bakugo shook his head, “Nope, we’re going downstairs to show Pinky that she was wrong.”

drive through

a/n: this was inspired by @jellyjulep’s post on twitter about making fast food stops on your way home with hawks. hope you enjoy that as a little briding drabble before i’ll post the dryhumping headcanons ^^

warning(s): hawks with a tummy, slight belly kink, handjob

You and Hawks had gone on countless dates together already, more often than not it was to a restaurant but that didn’t matter. You were glad you could spend at least some time with your hero boyfriend, so even those small trips for dinner were more than enjoyable for the both of you. This time, the restaurant Hawks chose looked promising, but you two quickly came to realize that it was one of those fancier restaurants where you would get the smallest portions for triple the price. And so you both find yourself in the car, hungry and a bit grumpy about the experience but one smirk and two words from Hawks turned everything around. “Drive through” had been the idea that set everything into motion and soon you were finding yourself stopping at multiple places on the way home to get all of the yummy, fatty goodness that you often denied yourself. Hawks devoured his chicken nuggets like the starving bird he was while you were occupied by fries and the different types of sauces.

Eventually, you came to a stop, Hawks could feel his belt getting tight as well as the buttons on his white shirt as he licked his fingers clean of the last remnants of delicious chicken crumbs. You two really went all out tonight and that 4+1 special deal gave you the rest. Hawks relaxed into his seat, the tightness of his clothes getting a little too uncomfortable for his liking so he unbuttoned his shirt, his belt coming loose soon after that, leaving him exposed to the air. His seat goes back as he fully lays into it, revealing his swollen belly. His muscular physique was still there, but it was something else seeing him content with his tummy sticking out ever so slightly while the piercings on his nipples glistened under the car’s indoor lights.

“Oh FUCK that was good,” he groaned, a smile spreading as he faces you.

You could only return the expression, running your fingers through his hair, however, your mind soon starts to wander, which was almost inevitable given that Hawks is presenting himself to you like that. Your gaze drifted lower, down his pecs and to that healthy pudgy tummy, past to where his unzipped jeans revealed his boxers.

“You know, I know we ate a lot, but I wouldn’t mind some dessert right now,” you teased, wasting no time slipping your hand past the waistband of his boxers.

Even in his narcotic-like state, he could feel the twitch his cock gave when your warm hand brushed over it, feel how his whole body shuddered in arousal. “Damn baby bird, in the car? You definitely have a talent for catching me off-guard.” The next pair of witty remarks got stuck in his throat, replaced by a low groan and followed by him biting down on his lower lip.

Skillfully you worked his cock to full hardness, giving how he slowly bucked into your hand, it wasn’t really difficult and soon you were finding yourself stroking him in a pleasant rhythm with your thumb occasionally brushing over the tip.

Hawks didn’t have the energy to admire your work, so he gave up and closed his eyes so he could focus on how your hand was feeling around his cock. It was enough to drive him crazy and had he eaten less, you would already be laying on your back and spread out beneath him. “Oh you’re really getting right into it I see? You’re really spoiling me tonight pretty bird, fuck…”

For once you were thankful that it was already late and the parking lot at the fast food place you stopped at wasn’t too crowded anymore, but on the other hand, it would have certainly added some more excitement into all of this. Slowly, you increased the speed of your hand, working his shaft in more powerful strokes and massaged the tip more frequently which had already begun to leak pre-cum. There was a generous amount this time, it slipped through your fingers and added to the overall hot sound of you squeezing his cock more from time to time.

Hawks started to whine and whimper, eyes still closed as he sprawled out on his seat, blissful and needy. “D-don’t stop. Ohh please don’t stop.” He chanted as his hips desperately tried to make you increase the speed once more, yet the fullness of his stomach prevented more extensive movement, so he had to wait and lay there ‘till you decided to give him mercy. The fact that he was moaning so sweetly made that hard for you, but you held out a little longer to watch him. “F-Fuck it feels so good baby bird. More. P-please more, ahh…”

With a sly grin, you reached over, gently gripping his full tummy and rubbing it, earning you a content “mhhh” followed by a couple of chirps. You turned over and lowered your head, peppering kisses on his belly all the way up to his blissful face where you pressed a kiss against his lips. He returned it eagerly, gasping as he can feel your other hand on his chest, two fingers twisting his sensitive nipple. You took the opportunity to slip your tongue into his mouth, tasting his sweet moans and swallowing them up one by one. With every new drag along his cock or each new tug at his nipple he gets messier, sloppier in kissing you back and in rutting into your hand. You’ve never seen him in such a blissful state before but it made everything even more worthwhile. Each new pump of his cock started a chain reaction: his hips stuttering, his tummy gently shaking with the movement he made and his mouth opening to let out more moans.

You can now feel his wings begin to flap helplessly, the pressure steadily building in his abdomen getting too strong, almost unbearable. “P-please baby bird I need to cum, please do it now, I can’t, I-” He’s once again interrupted by a series of moans which get higher and louder as you start stroking him at a relentless pace, your slick palm slapping against his balls with every stroke and your thumb rubbing gentle circles over his sensitive head.

“Go ahead, Keigo, cum for me.” And even though you kept your voice shallow, you could hear how much Hawks was focused on it even in what you thought would be a state that would be too far away for you to reach. A few moments later he spilled into your palm with a high keen and beautifully parted lips, each drop sending another throb through his cock and his body. His hips are still jerking and bucking into you as he rides out his orgasm, enjoying the warmth pooling down his cock just like the fullness and warmness that was seated in his stomach.

A few more hiccups and quiet groans slipped past his lips before he opened his eyes and you met his handsome golden orbs, hazy from the high and filled with so much satisfaction and happiness. Finally, he managed to move and placed his shaking hand on your cheek, pulling you down into another soft kiss.

When you pulled away you grinned as you saw Hawks with that same expression, lips parted slightly as he leaned back into his seat. “Satisfied?” You asked as you started cleaning him up with napkins.

“Mhh, definitely,” he murmured, barely able to hold back a jawn. “What about you?”

“Best dessert I’ve ever had.”

Funny Way of Showing It - Shinsou x Sister! Reader Pt. 2

My class got off a couple of days off after the attack. I spent it either in my room or with Dad. He was doing pretty good for being nearly beaten to a pulp. The class was going to be surprised when he walks in tomorrow. During this time off, Hitoshi had been trying to talk to me a lot. Everytime he comes home from school, he comes to check on me. It was my turn to be silent towards him.

“Hey, do you want to walk to school with me?” He asked while we did dishes after dinner. I shrugged.

“Don’t we normally?” I asked. He stalled for a moment, trying to find something to say. I turned towards dad and papa at the table. “Do you want some tea?”

“No thank you, honey. Shota?” Papa looked towards the bandage covered man. Dad shook his head.

“Okay then.” I wiped my hands off. “Well, I’m going to take a bath and goto bed.” I started taking my hair down from my braid.

“Okay, honey.” Papa smiled. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight, Papa” I kissed his head before doing the same to dad carefully. “Goodnight, dad.”

“Goodnight baby.” He said softly. He reached up and hugged me tight as he could.

When I went to see him in the hospital after the attack, he was beside himself. Apologizing multiple times about not being able to protect everyone and letting the villains ever get close. It took all three of us to calm him down. I hugged back before letting go. I glanced up at Hitoshi who was watching us.

“Night, Hitoshi.” I said as I walked out of the room.

“Night.” I heard him reply. As I walked through the hall to the bathroom, I could hear the three males talking. Hitoshi sounded distraught and heard a mention of my name.

“I don’t know what to do to make it up to Y/N. She won’t ever talk to me. I know I deserve it since that’s what I did to her but I was doing it so I wouldn’t take out my frustration on her. I’m still upset about my placement and didn’t want to take it out on her.”

“But ignoring her didn’t help either Hitoshi.” Dad chided.

“I know.” I heard Hitoshi huff and groan. “I don’t know what to do.”

“Give her time Tosh. She’s upset and needs time to work through it. Just like you did.” Papa comforted him.

“I just want to tell her how sorry I am.” He paused. “She thinks I don’t believe in her. That I’m not proud of her and what she’s accomplished. But I do and I am!”

“I know you are Toshi.” I Whispered before going to take my bath.

I had formulated a plan in my head while I was in the bath. A way that could make it easier on Toshi to speak his mind with me. I made it back into my room after making sure Toshi was still up. Like he would be asleep.

“Hey Hitoshi! Can you come here?” I called from my doorway. I went and sat on my bed as I heard his door open. He tentatively stuck his head in.

“What’s up, sis?” He asked. I was messing with my hair while I looked at him.

“Can you help me with my hair? I got a terrible knot and I can’t get it out.” I asked. He stepped into the doorway slowly.

“Are you sure you want my help? Why not ask Papa or Dad?” He scratched the back of his head.

“No. You know Papa is too rough since he has a head and roots of steel.” We both chuckled. “And I don’t want to ask Dad since he needs to rest for tomorrow and you know still bandaged up. Plus you’re the best at it, even though you have the shortest hair. I don’t know how that works. So please Hitoshi?” He sighed before nodding.

“Alright, Alright.” He cracked the door and walked over. “Let me see.”

“Right here.” I turned around on the bed and pointed to the spot.

“Dang. How did you do this?” He gently prodded at the knot.

“Mm. I don’t know.” I said while thinking back to the twisting, rubbing, and whatever else to purposely make a knot. We were quiet as he slowly and softly pulling the knot out. He left one time to get some detangler and a comb. When he came back he hit my back.

“Scooch over.” I moved forward on the bed so he could sit comfortably. After another few minutes of silence, he finally spoke up. “Hey sis.”

“Hmm?” I hummed in response.

“I just want to…” He sighed. “I want to apologize. I shouldn’t have shut you out. I shouldn’t have been cross with you and I should have been better about how proud I am of you. I just, I just was so mad about how unfair it was and the disappointment that there’s no chance for me to be in the hero course.”

“Toshi.”

“Wait, please Y/N. I need to say this.” He said while setting down the comb, finally done with the knot. He then grabbed the towel from around my neck and started to dry my hair. “I can’t express just how damn proud I am of you. You didn’t even think you would get a chance yet here you are a part of a hero class that’s already making history.”

“Oh I don’t know about that.” I whispered.

“I do.” He said as he let the towel drop. “I’ve been a terrible brother but I want to make up for it.” We sat in silence as he fiddled with my hair.

“You want to know how you can do that?” I felt him come to attention behind me.

“Yes.” I hopped around. I held up two fingers.

“Two things. Okay, three things.” I put up one more finger.

“Okay, what are they?” He raised an eyebrow.

“1. Don’t ignore me, please. I know you were… are upset but I want to help, be there for you. Just like I know you do for me. Okay?” He nodded. “Okay, 2. Don’t give up.”

“What?” He looked up at me confused. I smiled softly.

“Don’t give up on the hero course. You can get in.” He sighed looking down.

“But how? My quirk was basically useless in the entrance exam.” He looked up at me through his eyelashes.

“Yeeesss. You’re right."I said getting up. I skipped over to my desk and started digging around.

"Wow thanks, be more honest, why don’t you.” He deadpanned.

“Oh shush and let me finish.” I finally found the papers I was looking for. I skipped back and flopped down. “But the entrance exam isn’t the only way to get into the hero course.”

“It isn’t?” He asked, peeking at the papers.

“Unh uh.” I scooched up close and showed him the papers. “I’ve been doing some research. There are other chances to get into the hero course. Like the sports festival.”

“The sports festival?” He was even more curious now.

“Mmhm. You can prove yourself and your quirk at the sports festival. All the teachers are there and will be watching and so will a lot of Pros. The homeroom teachers have the power to pull a student from the other class if they think they’re worthy just like Dad has the power to expel an entire class.” His eyes got wider and wider with every word.

“ You’re joking!” He snatched the papers from my hands.

“Nope. Dad and Vlad King-sensei can transfer you out of General Studies. Though they have to transfer someone out to compensate. You could either be in Class 1-A or 1-B! But you have to know Dad is not going to be easy on you just because you’re his son.” I let the information hang in the air. I saw his eyes scan the paper furiously.

“There really is a way.” He looked up at me with a renewed sparkle in his eye. “Yes, yes, yes!” He got up and paced the room excited but stopped suddenly. “But there are so many people with better quirks than me that could get in and from what I heard, all of Class 1-A are impressive. There’s no way…”

“Hitoshi!” I got up and stopped him by the shoulders. “I can personally vouch that there are a couple that most of us would be happy if you replaced.” I shivered at the thought of the one. “Especially the grape.”

“The…grape?”

“Nevermind. Not important. What is important is that this isn’t like you. Where’s the Toshi I know? You can do it, I know you can.” I pulled him into a hug. He wrapped his arms around me.

“How do you know?” He asked. I pulled back.

“Because I… believe in you.” I poked his chest. He laughed but looked at me in thanks.

“Thanks sis. I needed that.” He sniffled a bit before shaking himself out. When he looked back up, I saw my brother back to normal.

“ You’re welcome. It’s what I’m here for.” I said before plopping back on my bed. He followed suit. He read over the papers again. I could tell he was deep in thought so I didn’t interrupt. Suddenly though, he lifted his head and spoke.

“Oh, what was the third thing?”

“Third thing?”

“Yeah. You said there were 3 things I could do to make it up to you. What was the third?” .

“Oh! Right.” I sat up and sat indian style. “Never and I repeat, NEVER change yourself for someone else.” I said earnestly. “Be who you are and nobody else. You are not a villain in the making, you are Hitoshi Shinsou. The soon to be hero in training. A total badass and the best brother in the world."

"I, I… huh. I don’t know about that but…” He chuckled softly. He looked up at me before taking my hands. “I promise to not ignore you, to never give up, and to NEVER change myself and to always be who I am.”

“Good.” I said while squeezing his hands. “Now, you realize you’re going to need to start training to get ready for the sports festival.”

“Uhhh!” He groaned and threw himself back. “ You’re an asshole for bringing that up now. A straight up asshole.”

“Sorry.” I said unapologetically. He peeked at me with one eye and glared. I shrugged. He sighed and sat up slouched.

“You know your class has been the talk of the school the past couple days.” He told me. “It’s like you’re all celebrities. ‘The first year class that survived a villian attack.’ It’s annoying yet cool because I can say my sister is one of those students.”

“Shut up.” I hit him with my shoulder. “It’ll be old news soon.”

“I don’t know. It’s been a pretty big deal.” He insisted. I just laughed before a yawn forced its way out of my mouth. “Well I better let you get some sleep. Since your break ends tomorrow.”

“Yeah. I’m beat.” I stretched and went to grab my towel.

“I’ll take it back to the bathroom.” He said beating me to grabbing my towel. “Get some rest.”

“Okay.” I got under my covers. “Please try to sleep, Toshi.”

“I’ll try.” He said. He flipped my light off as he went out the door.

“Love you, Toshi.”

“Love you too, Sis.”

“Love you kids!!” We both jumped at Papa’s voice.

“Hizashi!” We heard Dad chide. We both laughed.

“Love you Dad. Love you too Papa.” We answered.

“Love you too. Now go to bed.”

*The Next Day*

Hitoshi and I walked together that morning, talking about what to do in prep for the sports festival until we had to part ways. The day went smoothly after the shock of Dad walking into the room. It was smooth until the end of the day and half of the first year class was outside our door.

“I heard Class 1-A was impressive but you just sound like an ass.” I covered my mouth trying not to laugh at my brother’s sass. He looked at me over Bakugou’s shoulder and gave me a ghost of a smirk. He mentioned the things I told him the night before and Bakuyou stormed off. The rest of the class was shook.

“Really?” I asked him as I met him outside. He cocked his head to the side. “Bakugou is already unbearable and you went and poked the Lion.”

“Sorry, not sorry.” He laughed as we walked home. “I meant what I said.”

“I know.” I said. “But not me right?” The question came out more meek than I meant for it too. I looked at me in worry and confusion for a second. It must have clicked in his head. He grabbed my arm to stop me.

“Of course not.” He assured me. “If they tried to replace you with me, I would say hell no. I wouldn’t do that to you.” He hugged me. “Plus, I don’t think Dad would let that happen. Since it’s his decision.”

“You have a very valid point there my dear brother.” I said jokingly. We laughed before a gasp caught our attention.

“He’s your brother?” A whiney voice made me groan. I turned to see Mineta standing behind us. “The asshole that threatened to take one of our spots?”

“Yes Mineta, this asshole is my brother.” I smirked. “Just wait till you find out who our Dad is.” We laughed as he paled. “Plus if he’s going to take anyone’s spot, it is going to be yours, grape.” I said the last word under my breath to where only Toshi could hear.

“You can’t do that!” He ran off crying.

“Watch me.” Toshi smirked.

“You know, you have a funny way of showing it.”

“Showing what?” He furrowed his eyebrows.

“That you’re not a total badass and the best brother in the world.” I grabbed his shoulders before jumping onto his back, He laughed, grabbing onto my legs as he walked us home.

Chapter 13

Warnings: None, Swf. Pretty Long, but all my chapters are long so nothing new with that. Contains use of flashbacks.
Aizawa x OC (Mai Montoya, Pro Hero Zion)
Chapter Synopsis: Counselor Mai Montoya focuses on preparing the students for their work study in this chapter. It also mentions a little more about her past in work study and mentions more about her relationship with her mom. Maybe some slight romantic moments with Aizawa…
If you want to read of the events before this chapter here is the Master List

“Now, I don’t know why you insist on healing you faster when I told you that you have two weeks left with a normal check-up.” Recovery Girl stood up on the bed as she was checking Aizawa’s injuries.

“I just want to be over with it. Plus, I’m tired of having Mai over.” Ouch.Recovery Girl didn’t look amused, so she smacked Aizawa in the shoulder, making him wince, “What the hell?”

“Don’t be rude to my Mai. She didn’t have to take care of you for this long.” She then kissed him on the head, activating her healing quirk. “I’ll heal the injuries on your face and make it so you can use your arms, but you have to promise me to keep them bandaged up. As for the rest of your injuries, your legs seem to be okay enough that you don’t need my quirk. The same for your abdominal area.” Recovery Girl then reached over for my hand for assistance when she wanted to get off the hospital bed. “You can’t push yourself too much, Aizawa. Mai, sweetheart, can you help me with wrapping Aizawa up? The gauze is on the counter over there. I have to go check on a student.”

The little old lady scurried off with her cane to check on a student that came in with symptoms of a cold. I stood up from the seat next to the bed to grab the gauze she pointed out to me. To be fair, I only think Aizawa was rushing to heal, so that way, his students didn’t have to worry about him anymore. Either that or he just wanted to avoid the fact that he almost died, and his injuries are a reminder of that. I don’t blame him; I would’ve been the same way. I went closer to Aizawa and motioned him to move his arms up. He stayed quiet as I moved to wrap the gauze around him. I tried to avoid caressing the bruises and scars littering his porcelain skin. That was all nothing compared to any mental pain he’s endured. Every muscle, every scar, all came from hard work to improve himself as a hero. And that motivation came from losing the one person that embodied what it meant to be a hero. I remember Aizawa back when he was an insecure lanky string bean. A person who never thought he was good enough to be a hero because of his quirk.

Seeing that boy turn into this man before me struck me both with pride and worry. Aizawa clearly proved himself wrong and became a great, even selfless, hero. But he still held the burden that all of us did when Oboro died. So, it’s not like he or any of us could really be happy with ourselves. I mean, he literally told Recovery Girl to heal him faster so he can go back to work properly instead of being held back by his injuries. Once I was done wrapping his abdomen, I told him to put his arms back down as I went to look at his head and face.

His grey tired eyes searched my face while I examined his head. It looked like Recovery Girl did what she said and healed whatever was left of his injuries in that area. I held his face in both of my hands while I observed it. Nothing out of the ordinary, he practically looked the same as he did before aside from this scar under his right eye. He was still as effortlessly pretty as always. Not even the scar could change that. We made eye contact, but no words were exchanged. I felt that same gravitational pull tugging at the two of us. It was specifically pulling at my heart because it was aching to have him hold it. But I ignored the pull. I moved my hand to move his hair out of his face pretending to check his forehead. “Well, it looks like the old lady did a good job with your head injuries; you’re practically good as new.”

I felt hands resting above my hips as the rumble sang through, “Practically?”

I went to caress the scar under his eye with my thumb, “Yeah, she left a scar. But I’m sure it’s not a big deal to you. I’ll just replace the gauzing on your arms, and you could go to the classroom.”

I leaned over to grab more gauze and the scissors when Aizawa tightened his grip, “Make sure the students won’t be able to see the gauze. I don’t want them to know I’m not fully healed.” I paused my movement and looked back at him. “I don’t want them to worry. Or be reminded of the attack. So don’t give me that face.”

“Don’t want them to be reminded of the attack. Are you sure it’s just them?” I muttered.

“Mai.”

“Aizawa.”

“Call me, Shota.” I sighed and started wrapping his left arm, avoiding eye contact. “You used to call me by Shota. What happened?”

“I’m trying to be formal. Not familiar. And I am a counselor, so I know when someone has unresolved issues. You could always just ask me for a therapy session.”

“Okay. Well, I hate that you don’t call me Shota.” I gave him an irritated look. “You wanted me to talk. I’m talking. You let me call you, Mai.”

“Because I’m American, I’m used to it.” I stopped wrapping the gauze around once I got to his wrist. Hopefully, it wouldn’t show as he wanted. “Plus, we haven’t been close to each other enough for me to call you by Shota anymore. I only called you Shota because you never told me not to, especially when I needed to be comforted by a friend. But that’s not our relationship currently, so I call you by Aizawa or Eraserhead.” I felt the hands that were previously on my hips fall slowly, hesitantly, as if they didn’t want to let go. I didn’t want them to let go. “If you want me to call you Shota, I could start. I just won’t during work hours.”

“It’s not that. It’s just that… I notice you stop yourself from calling me by my name, so I just wanted you to know it was okay if you do.” Aizawa averted his eyes from mine with slight embarrassment tinting his cheeks. I went to hold his hand and gave him a small smile.

“Thanks for letting me know that it’s okay.” He gave me a small genuine smile back. One of those rare Shota Aizawa smiles that didn’t resemble the Joker’s. And as always, those rare smiles made me feel nothing but warmth. Aizawa then handed me his other arm to wrap up.

“Alright, how are my two favorite students doing?” Recovery Girl came trotting in. “Aizawa treated you nicely, right?” She gave me a wink while poking Aizawa’s knee.

We both nodded in response.

“Alright, good. Aizawa, please, as I said, take it easy. And please, Mai, make sure he does. Do whatever spell you have that gets him not to be his workaholic zombie self because the boy needs it.” Recovery Girl then went to grab a bottle of over the counter pain medication. “When I’m done with you today, you should only be needing the over the counter stuff and not the prescribed medication you were given.” She then looked over to me after handing him the medicine, “You can leave now, sweetie. I’ll take care of him from here on out.” I simply nodded and kneeled to give her a quick kiss on the cheek while ruffling Aizawa’s hair on my way out.

On my way out, I ran into All Might as he headed towards the teacher’s lounge. “Oh, Mai, I’m glad to run into you. I needed to talk to you about something.”

I tried to slow down my steps for him to catch up, which didn’t take him too long to do, “What did you need?”

“It’s about the work-study the first years are doing. I was thinking maybe training Young Midoriya, but I wanted your advice on it since it might look like I’m being…”

“Biased? Playing favorites? Yeah, I wouldn’t suggest having him work under you.” I bluntly spoke as I looked over to the tall, muscular form of my former mentor.

“I trained you. And you turned out to be a great pro.” He defended.

“It was still a biased situation. You had me intern under you after my incident with the yakuza and my grandfather. Where you saved me.”

The man pouted, “I guess you’re right. Maybe he can train under you?”

“I’m not on active duty, so I can’t take him as a work-study student.” I thought for a moment about Midoriya’s training. He needed someone who understood how his quirk worked and will build his strength and work with his limitations. Someone who had experience in teaching. If he’s truly to be All Might’s successor, he needed someone who could handle teaching him. I was most definitely not that person. Especially right now, I can’t let any of my students follow down that path with my suspension. Then one person came into mind that I thought was perfect. “What about Gran Torino? Do you know if he has his teaching license still? I talk to him from time to time, but I never ask.”

The symbol of peace’s face turned pale as his sunken eyes nearly popped out of his eye sockets. I couldn’t help but look at him with a confused expression. “No. We are not calling Gran Torino to teach Midoriya.”

“Oh, come on. He’s not that bad. He was nothing but a sweet teacher to me. Have you not told him about Izuku Midoriya yet?” I brushed off his concerns. Clearly, he was overreacting.

“He was sweet to you but not to me! I highly doubt he would treat Midoriya the same way he treats you.” The man visibly shivered at the thought of his old teacher training Midoriya.

“I’m sure Izuku Midoriya will handle whatever the old man throws at him. I’ll send him a message asking if he’s interested in teaching him.” The symbol of peace choked up and coughed up a little. I had to go and make sure that he was okay while we were walking, “Honestly, I wished Recovery Girl, and I could’ve found a way to heal your injuries better so that way you wouldn’t be slowly dying.”

My old mentor chuckled and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief. “With my recklessness, I highly doubt any more healing would’ve done anything.” He patted my head, “It’s not your responsibility to take care of me. You need to remember that.” He said that, but I remember that day. It’s hard to forget. It took everything in me to forget about it. It was my fault that he was injured so badly.

“You know that’s not true. You’re like a father to me! I take up the responsibility because you mean so much to me.” I gave him a stern worrisome face while he sucked in a breath. Beads of sweat glistening from his forehead. Poor guy only masks being strong. I grabbed the tissue pack I kept in my bag, levitated myself to reach up to his height, and gently wiped his face. “You, Nezu, Gran Torino, even Nighteye, were all I had to raise me when I couldn’t be with my mom. Taking care of all of you is the least I can do to repay you for all you did for me. I love you all.” Toshinori just let out a large sigh and let the worry in his face fall to a relaxed one.

“Sometimes, it feels like I failed you as a mentor, so hearing you think of me as a father figure really impacts me. I might be the symbol of peace, but hearing what you think of me is my greatest achievement and honor, Mai.” I couldn’t help but smile brightly at him and gave him a small nod in reassurance.

“I’ll definitely tell Gran Torino to train him the way he did me; otherwise, he could forget me sending him his favorite homemade desserts from me, so you don’t have to worry about Midoriya.” I gave the man a quick pat on the head before levitating back to the ground.

“What will you be doing while the students are in work-study?”

“I’ll still be on-call to all my students. But with Aizawa not needing me anymore, I’ll probably be going back to my apartment and finally finish unpacking.” I scratched the back of my head sheepishly while Toshinori gave me a fake look of sternness. “I might also finally get back to my mom, she’s been emailing me since the incident, but I’ve avoided responding.”

“Why have you been avoiding talking to her?”

“Oh, the usual, don’t want to hear how she expected differently from me with how I was brought up. Especially since all the emails involve her wanting me to move to I-Island with her and Uncle Dave.” I shrugged while I noticed Toshinori grew rigged.

“I’m sure she’s just worried and wants what is best for you. It’s probably difficult to hear that your only child has been through so much hardship and not having any control over it.” He grew defensive but still tried to be kind to me. “You’re not the only one that had to endure trauma involving your grandparents. Your mother dealt with it longer.”

I squinted my eyes in suspicion at him, “How would you know if my mom dealt with abuse from my grandparents. The only thing you knew about them was how obsessed they were with getting rid of quirks. I’ve never mentioned anything about my mom’s relationship with them.”

His sunken eyes widened slightly, “Uhh, I just assumed. It’s hard to believe loving parents could make a switch as they did. But you’re right. I don’t know anything about your mother…” He bit his lip. Something told me that he knew more about her than he led on, but I didn’t have the time to interrogate him about it. “Anyhoo, I am glad to hear that Aizawa is feeling better. How are you two doing?”

I accidentally let out a small groan.

“That bad…”

“No. It’s not, I swear. I just get annoyed that that’s all anyone asks me about when they bring him up. Recently, it didn’t bother me too much because it was understandable. After all, he’s injured, and I’m taking care of him. But when it comes to work, everyone asks how our dynamic is because of our past.” I turned to him, “It’s like everyone assumes that we can’t be efficiently working together because we have a past.”

“Well, he was your first real friend, and when you left, you didn’t speak for about a decade. I can see why it’s a little concerning.”

“But we’re fine. We pushed it aside and just… ”

“Act like it didn’t happen until it gets awkward.”

“No…. maybe… I hate you sometimes. You know that?” Toshinori just laughed at me and pointed out that I still made my pouty disgruntled face that made me resemble a child. “All I ask is to bring up other things. I have other things going on. My life doesn’t revolve around Aizawa!”

“Okay, okay, I get that. I’ll make sure never to bring up you and Aizawa. But you do need to remember that half of the staff you hang around all were around you and him during your youth. So, it’s natural for them to be curious.”

“Stop being so wise. It’s weird. I’m used to quirk himbo you.” Toshinori just laughed at me again while I just huffed.

After both of the hero courses had their lessons and learned about their work studies, they all were left the rest of the day to review their offers and decide which pro to work under. Each of the students blew up my phone with messages and emails about wanting my help with their decisions. It was annoying the whole teacher lounge as my phone continued buzzing. I gave up and opened my phone and saw that my students were all waiting in their homeroom and the same with Class 1-B. I’ll make sure to spend at least an hour with both of the classes and make time later while I take my stuff back to my apartment to handle any more questions they have. I got up from my desk and decided to make my way to Class 1-A, not bothering to take any stuff with me. I wanted to make this more casual talk with the students rather than me counseling them.

I scrolled through the messages as I walked over:

Mina: MS. MONTOYA SOS (btw Denki also needs help)

Bakugo: I know I normally don’t message you, but I want your opinion on Best Jeanist.

Todoroki: Ms. Montoya… Should I work under my father or another pro?

Momo: Hello, Ms. Montoya. I have a list of high ranking female pros that I would like to review with you.

Iida: Hello, Mai. I don’t really need help deciding who I want to work under, but I would like to talk to you about my decision to work under Manual in Hosu.

Midoriya:Hi, Ms. Montoya! I have some questions about finding work-study opportunities since I didn’t have any offers.

Iida… Hosu… Why do I have a bad feeling about this? I walked in to see all my kids in the midst of having mental breakdowns. Like the first day I met them, they didn’t automatically notice me right away, so it gave me the advantage to sneak around them to the podium. They were really loud, so I had no other choice but to raise my voice… with Mic’s voice quirk.

“HELLO, CLASS!” Of course, I turned it down a bit to avoid blowing their eardrums up.

Nothing but a sea of eyes blinked at me. And then a roar of relief, cheers, and sighs erupted in the class. “Oh my god, Ms. Montoya, thank god you’re here! We need your help!”

I simply chuckled at their cuteness. “Okay, okay, calm down. All of you take a deep breath and put your shoulders back.” I demonstrated, and they all sat and followed my actions. “Now, exhale slowly and relax your shoulders.” I opened my eyes to see my kids all calmed down now. “Okay, so how are we going to do this?”

Mina raised her hand, “Can you just tell us about your experience with work-study? I feel like hearing someone talk about what they did might help us a lot. Plus, we love hearing you talk about your life.” She smiled brightly as her horns slightly wiggled… Her horns wiggle… adorable!

Wait, my experience with work-study… shit… that’s not really the nicest story… I’m sure I can just mention the nicer sides of it. I gulped slightly before beginning to speak. “Alright, well, I transferred to UA late, so I didn’t have any offers for work-study. But luckily, I made friends who recommended me to the pro they were working with, and they took me in.”

“So, do you all understand the protocol, my little chickadees?” Aizawa, Oboro, and I were all standing in front of the Pro Hero His Purple Highness and Midnight as he explained how he ran his agency. To say this is the oddest thing to happen to me since my move to Japan is more an understatement. I still had the first day I met Oboro undressing in front of the whole class to beat that. “You think you’ll be fine to catch up with us right, Montoya?”

I was a little nervous. It was all of our first work-study, so it wasn’t something I was behind on experience-wise. But it was my first time outside of the school, outside of my dorm, and I had to use my quirk. Use it to help people, so it was a little unnerving. I didn’t know if I was ready for it, but I had to rush myself to be whether I wanted to or not. I simply nodded in response.

“Good, I’m very excited to have another girl on my team to be paired with Midnight.” His Purple Highness gave me a warm smirk, “Nemuri has mentioned that you have a lot of potential, and I hope your time here shows it.”

Oboro gave me a small nudge and gave me a wink, “Look, you’re already the favorite.”

Aizawa simply gave me a small smile that didn’t go unnoticed by His Purple Highness, “Oi, Aizawa. You see that smile you have right there. You must give that smile to every civilian you meet, so they know they will be okay.” He then turned to me, “You too, Montoya. It is important to smile. Be friendly. You’re all too cute not to be smiling.” That comment made all three of us blush. Aizawa was practically a nervous peach. His smile faltered, and he looked mortified that the pro called him out. I couldn’t help but reach my hand out to him and hold his left hand lightly, giving him a tiny smile, which he returned.

I continued to tell the students about my first day of work-study at the Purple Revolution Agency. The more I talked, the more they relaxed, and their excitement bloomed. I didn’t go into full detail about all the other days of the work-study. I felt that the first day was the most important story to talk about. “And so, for me, it wasn’t my choice to work at the Purple Revolution. But my experience there did help me grow as a hero and as a person. I didn’t have a lot of experience with other people and my quirk, but I luckily got stuck with a good mentor to help me build a foundation. Heck, I never even smiled before working there. It really helped me a lot. So, I would make sure no matter who you work under, you take into consideration their teachings and thinking. You are meant to learn, after all. Also, make friends with whoever else is working at the agency with you. Think of it as an extended family.”

“So you really did know Aizawa since you were kids. No wonder you guys work so well together!” Asuyu pointed out.

“It’s hard to believe Aizawa showing any type of emotions…” Kaminari muttered.

“I think it’s cute how close you guys were! It’s almost like you guys had a crush on each other!” Mina said excitedly. Her eyes were practically heart-shaped.

“Did you guys listen to the point of my story?”

They all nodded, and Mina spoke out again, “Yes, but the way you talked about your friendship with Aizawa was also so interesting. So, am I right that you and Mr. Aizawa used to like each other? I’m assuming from your blushing that I am.” She smiled proudly. “‘Cause if so… Now I want to know more about what happened between you two?”

The rest of the class all looked intently at me, waiting for me to respond. I collected myself internally to avoid showing any embarrassment. “Nothing happened because we didn’t like each other.”

“Aw, why’d you have to break my heart, Ms. Montoya…” Mina pouted.

“I feel like she’s lying. I’ve noticed that she and Mr. Aizawa linger around each other, whether through looking at each other when the other isn’t noticing or simply by the way he always has her favorite coffee and breakfast ready for her when she comes to class. Or how she always makes sure to keep an extra bottle of eye drops for him.” Everyone, including myself, all stared at Aoyama. The class switched their gaze between him and me.

I was heated in embarrassment. Damn, kids do notice things you don’t. I went to look at the clock and then my phone. “Oh, look at the time. I need to get to talking to Class 1-B about their work-study as well. So I have to go. You guys can ask me more questions later. Love you all, good luck!” I practically ran out of the classroom… Despite the door being closed, I could still make out what they were talking about after I left.

“Aoyama is right. I mean, Ms. Montoya even took up the responsibility of taking care of him while he recovered. You can’t tell me that they’re just friends by that alone.” Asuyu mentioned.

“They would be so cute if they got together. It’s like the whole opposites attract thing.” Mina gushed.

“It’s kind of like, a love story where they could’ve been together when they were younger, but it never happened, but now that they’re older and more mature, they can finally be together. Ugh, those are my favorite kind!” Momo admitted. Gah, I hate kids…

“Maybe we shouldn’t be romanticizing our teacher and our counselor’s friendship. Friends can do all of that too.” Kirishima butted in. I always knew you were my favorite, Kirishima. Thank you.

I decided to compose myself and make my way over to Class 1-B. I already made them wait long enough. First, my friends, now my students are going to tease me about my old crush on Aizawa. Love that.

Chapter 12

Warnings: None, swf. Lots of fluff though.

I was rushing through my duffle bag to find any non-work-related clothes to go out with Vlad. I already had my tablet and purse set aside and waiting. I decided to go with a tank top and cardigan with skinny jeans and white tennis shoes. I left my hair in a bun and smoothed down my flyaways. Once I was done getting ready, I grabbed my tablet and purse and rushed my way out of Aizawa’s office. Speaking of Aizawa, I walked into the living room to see him napping in his sleeping bag rather than on the couch with the numerous blankets I brought over from my place. I shook my head, not really in shock or anything, more just towards his silliness. I went around the apartment and cleaned up a little while waiting for Vlad. I was in the kitchen doing dishes when I heard the doorbell chime. I immediately went to grab the door when Aizawa beat me to it.

“Hey, Vlad.” Aizawa flatly said. He looked annoyed; maybe it was because his nap was interrupted.

“Hello, Aizawa, is Mai ready yet?” Vlad tried to look over him while I grabbed my stuff and got ready to leave.

I pushed past Aizawa, “Yes, I am. Hi, Vlad.” I smiled at him and gave him a once over, “You look nice.” He was wearing jeans, and a blue button-up with the sleeves rolled up.

“Thank you. You do too.” He returned my smile while reaching for my arm to start leaving.

“Ahem.” Aizawa halted us. “What time are you coming home?” There’s the word again. Home.Did he have to use that word? He could’ve just said, ‘When are you coming back?’ but no, he said, home. And of course, it gave me a tinge in my heart.

“Um, it depends on how much work we have to do. I’ll make sure to text you if I’m out late.” I gave him a light pat on his shoulder, “But in case you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me, and I’ll come to your rescue.” I gave him a small wink and then made my way out. I just heard a grumble in response.

I gave all my attention to Vlad once we started to walk to the cafe Vlad had in mine for us to go and work.

“Aizawa was okay with you going out with him recovering?” Vlad asked while motioning to grab my bag for me.

I pushed his hand away and shook my head, “I think he was happy to not have me nagging him for the day.”

“How has it been for you guys living together?”

“It’s alright. Sometimes we’re at each other’s head and other times we’re pretty chill. Sometimes he takes naps while I’m doing work stuff. Or sometimes we’re both grading the students’ assignments together. So it really just depends on the day.” I shrugged.

Vlad stayed silent and gave me a slow nod as he listened, “How did the session with Bakugo today go?”

“Oh, I say it went pretty well.” I stared at my feet while walking before looking up at Vlad giving him a proud smile. “He asked for another session.”

Vlad wrapped an arm around me, “I’m glad to hear that the great Counselor Montoya broke through Katsuki Bakugo.”

“Yeah, well, I feel like I needed that little pep talk you gave me so thank you for that.”

“Anytime, shortie.” He gave me a small squeeze while holding me. It felt a little awkward to have his large frame lean over my smaller one, but it still felt nice. I couldn’t help but lean back into his side while holding his hand over my shoulder. It was peaceful. Something I kind of needed for the past few months. Heck, just these past weeks I needed some peace.

We stayed walking like this for the rest of the way to the coffee shop. Once we got there, I went straight to finding a booth while Vlad ordered our drinks and food. For the rest of the night, it was filled with work, but also some casual conversations about random topics. It was a breath of fresh air, but it still felt all familiar.

“Remember the time you and Oboro had to go chase down Mic and Tensei after he told them to grab a shopping cart and roll down a hill at Tensei’s full speed.” Vlad belted out a hearty laugh.

“Stop! I remembered a tripped over and started rolling down the hill while Oboro just laughed the whole way down on his stupid cloud.” I palmed my face, “It was so embarrassing. Ugh, if I didn’t love those idiots so much I wouldn’t have let it slide. I would’ve made sure they got reprimanded.”

“It’s hard to believe that those dumb kids turned into us.”

“Yeah, all of us but Hizashi seemed to grow to have a stick up our ass. But I’m pretty sure if you gave the old group the opportunity to be idiotic we would take it.” I smiled. My mind couldn’t help but wander over to my students. “Honestly, seeing the kids I counsel. They all remind me of us. Which makes me more self-aware of how reckless and clueless we were. But it definitely gives me a lot of hope that they’re going to grow up to be wonderful heroes.” I fingered the rim of my mug, “Especially if they learn from our mistakes instead of blindly following our heroic mantras.”

Vlad looked deeply at me silently agreeing. “Yeah, that’s kind of our responsibility now. Such a shame that you won’t be staying with the class and Aizawa after this year.” I stared blankly at him. Did I really forget this was all temporary? “You forgot that this was temporary until you got your suspension lifted, huh?”

I slumped back into the booth, “Well, its not my fault that I forgot. I’ve been busy and haven’t been updated on my status. None of my friends from the U.S. haven’t told me anything either. So, it kind of feels like I’ve already been here for a long time.” Vlad just nodded amusingly. “It feels like I should be prepared to stay. It doesn’t feel like I will be getting it lifted if it’s not even up for discussion.”

“Maybe it’s the time zones.” Vlad shrugged.

I couldn’t help but chuckle, “Yeah, definitely the time zones.” More like the American hero community was more than happy to get rid of me when they saw the chance.

Once the little work date came to an end, Vlad walked me home with his arm draped over me and my bag in his hand. The walk was filled with light laughter. Onlookers and bystanders would’ve assumed we were a happy couple with the way we were, and honestly, I didn’t really mind it. Once we got to the door of the apartment, Vlad held my hand to stop me from opening the door. Giving himself a little more time to talk. The low lighting darkened his blood-red eyes. His voice was low to match his eyes, “I had a fun time tonight. Even if it mostly worked. Would you mind going out another time when it’s not work-related?” His eyes and smile were warm and welcoming, it was impossible for me to say no and mean it,

I returned the smile and moved my hand to linger a little on his before retrieving my bag, “No, I don’t think I would mind. I would really like to go out again.”

Vlad leaned down a little closer to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek, “Have a good night, Mai.”

I couldn’t help but blush at his action but I did my best to keep my composure, “You too, Vlad.”

He went to start walking away as I opened the door, “Send Eraser a ‘goodnight’ from me, just leave out the kiss. Don’t want to give him the wrong idea.”

I chuckled walking into the apartment, “No we wouldn’t that now, would we? Goodnight, be safe!” I closed the door and set my purse down while kicking off my shoes. The apartment was dark with the only light coming from the kitchen window. That can only mean that Aizawa was locked in his room. I made my way over to the couch and plotted myself there, resting my eyes. I’ll go check on Aizawa a little later.

“Are you home?” I heard the man belt out from the hallway.

“No, just some little Mexican girl with a copy of your apartment key decided to come in and relax on your couch.” I opened my eyes to see him leaning on the wall watching me.

“You got a call while you were gone, but I told them that I would pass the message along.”

“From who?”

“Gemini.” Do you ever just have one of those days that are really good only to have something come into ruin it? I had to force myself to not groan.

“What was the message? I thought part of the court appeal was that neither of us was supposed to be in contact with each other?” I sat up looking annoyed and Aizawa could tell that I was not in the mood for anything involving Gemini.

“He used the agency phone number. He wanted you to know that your suspension hasn’t been looked at since the court case ended in case you were curious why you haven’t been updated.” Aizawa moved from his spot of the wall over to the couch.

“And why couldn’t it be someone else telling me this?”

“He said it was his good deed for the day to tell you.” Aizawa gave out a huff and was laced with a smirk.

“Oh, how nice of him. Wish that his good deed for the day involved more minding his business and less harassing female colleagues but that’s too much to ask.” I leaned back on the cushions feeling hot with annoyance and anger. “Vlad wanted me to tell you to have a good night.”

“Is that all?” Aizawa’s voice was laced with slight irritation.

“Yeah. Pretty much. Why? Did you expect him to send you a goodnight kiss too?” I teased.

He rolled his eyes at me, “I’m guessing you had a good time ‘working’.”

I took note of the emphasis on ‘working’ but decided not to act on it and not cause an argument. “Yeah, I had fun. Vlad really helped make taking on Class 1-B less stressful.”

“Hmm.” Was all I got as a response, “You’re friend Marga emailed me about you not responding to her wedding invitation.”

“Why are people contacting you instead of me?” I scrunched up my face in confusion.

“I don’t know, it’s probably because they know you avoid responding.” He said matter of factly.

“The wedding isn’t until November, I have time to respond to the invitation. She just has to be patient.”

“Just say you don’t want to go to her wedding.”

“I didn’t say I didn’t want to go. I just want to heavily think about it. It’s going to be one of the largest events of the year for the U.S. because two big pro heroes are getting married. That means ALL of my old colleagues are going to be there and I just don’t want to be outcasted or judged while I’m there.” I shouldn’t have really cared, but I couldn’t really help it. I was already a joke, I just didn’t want to give people more reason to talk.

“You never used to care about what people thought about you.”

“I wasn’t ranked number 2 hero before. And that’s not completely true. I always tried my best to not cause attention to myself and offend people because I never wanted to hurt anyone.” I turned over to him to look him in the eyes.

He couldn’t help the smirk tugging his lips. “Now, that’s a lie. Yes, you were conscientious, but you never shied away from speaking your mind.”

“Well, look where that got me, Sho… Aizawa.” I bit my cheek after avoiding my slip up. “I don’t really have the option to be so vocal or confident in myself right now. It will only give me more problems.”

Aizawa just stayed quiet for a little while. I couldn’t really look him in the eye. He was right that I used to be confident in myself and my words, and I hated that I let this stupid situation tear me away from that. It felt like I reverted back to my fifteen-year-old self. Insecure and fearful of myself. “You know, you could always just bring a date with you so you have someone on your side beside the bride and groom.”

I laughed at his suggestion, “I can’t just ask someone to do that.”

“And why not? You have tons of friends that would come to help you have at the drop of a hat.” Aizawa’s baritone voice had a hint of offense in it.

“Yeah, I know. I just don’t want to…” I met Aizawa’s dead stare, “Don’t want too… Can you not look at me like that? You look so judgmental right now.” I crossed my arms.

“Good, because I am judging you for thinking that you’re an inconvenience.”

“I was not going to say… you know what, fine. Who do you think I should bring as my date then, oh wise one?” The man just shrugged at me… “Unbelievable.”

“Ask Vlad since you guys seem really close.” He grumbled.

“No, I feel like it’s too serious and we…” My eyes widened. Shut up, shut up, shut up!

Aizawa raised an eyebrow at me, “We?”

“Nothing, we’re just friends and I don’t want him to get the wrong idea. Taking a friend to a wedding as a date can be messy.” In all honesty, I just didn’t want to move too quickly with Vlad. We weren’t a real thing yet and I didn’t want him to get the wrong idea by inviting him to a wedding. “I’ll just take Hizashi or something. Maybe Lily actually.”

And then out of nowhere, Aizawa made the most peculiar suggestion, “I could go.” I guess I gave a shocked look because the next thing he did was roll his eyes at me and went over to grab the unanswered invitation, “Don’t give me that look, I’m only offering as a way to pay you back for helping me out with my injuries.”

“But… it’s a wedding… A TELEVISED WEDDING!” I tried to analyze the man to see if he had some type of bleeding on his head from a reopened wound but he swatted me away.

“Yeah, so what? No one will know who I am.”

“But, I’m well known, they’re going to ask questions.” He just shrugged and handed me the invitation with a pen.

“Sign it and mark that you’re going with a guest.”

“You’re not going, I won’t allow it.”

“All you have to say is that I’m a friend from Japan. That’s it. Nothing about me being a pro.”

“BUT YOU HATE THE MEDIA AND THE ATTENTION!”

“I DON’T CARE! NOW SIGN THE DAMN INVITATION!”

“FINE!”

“GOOD!”

“I’M STILL ASKING HIZASHI!”

“I’LL JUST TELL HIM TO SAY NO!”

“NO!”

“STOP BEING A BABY, I’M GOING!”

“UGH!”

I can’t even muster a reason why Aizawa was so dead set on going. But if he insisted it was to pay me back for taking care of him, I guess I could deal with it. Plus the wedding wasn’t until November. He could change his mind by then, or maybe I will end up going with someone else. We couldn’t know. I just hoped that once I was at the wedding it won’t be so dreadful like I’m expecting it to be.

“I could ask All Might,” I said while signing the rsvp.

“Could you just shut up and let me do you this favor? It’s not like I’m cutting off a leg for you, I’m just going to a wedding.”

“Please we both know you would rather do that over going to a wedding,” I said under my breath.

“Let it go!”

“Make me!”

Aizawa and I just stared at each other with wide eyes after realizing what I just said. I can only assume that my cheeks were matching his rosy color right now. I quickly just let out a cough and set the invitation down on the coffee table as I got up, scratching the back of my neck. “I think I’m gonna go to bed. Hehe… I’ll see you in the morning, Aizawa.” I scurried quickly to Aizawa’s office, not wanting to meet his eyes. He seemed to still be processing the situation. Dammit, Mai! How do you just say ‘Make me!’ like that, you know it makes things awkward. UGH!I was so stupid!
