synopsis: old money comes with old traditions, and one of the most prominent ones for the young men at azabu university is the ‘new year, new fuck’ competition, where alumni’s children see who can sleep with a virgin first. it’s a rite of passage for the men, and a good ego boost for the winners. izuku and katsuki, however, are bored,and when they hear the dean has a daughter starting who is sworn to celibacy, they think the opportunity is too good to pass up.

“hey this song reminds me of you…” MHA BOYS

songs they canonically would send you if they were interested (horikoshi approved)

izuku midoriya— be your man; H 3 F

he’s such a cutie, such a sweetheart. he says it reminds him of you, and then proceeds to send about fifty texts following before you can even respond (“i mean not romantic!! as friends!!” “unless you’d mean romantic” “but i’m not saying that!” “blech icky” “NOT SAYING YOUR EHICKY” “NO” “OKAY SORRY JUST IGNORE THIS HAHA(´⊙ω⊙`)”). he absolutely clearly means it in a romantic way, for someone who’s keeping the secret of the number one hero he is a bad mf liar.

runner up: japanese denim. he likes love songs, he thinks they’re kind and anything he hears that’s the slightest bit about love he’s gonna associate w you

katsuki bakugo— bitches; mindless self indulgence

he wants you to be bitches? he wants u to love him cos u know that he can rock?!!!!?!!!?!?! that he can rhyme?! that he can fuck?!!!! THAT HES ON TIME?! plain and simple. he does not say this reminds you of him, he does not link it with you in any way. he just randomly sends it (if even).

if you were really lucky he’d send you love me dead by ludo.

denki kaminari— natalie; HUNNY

he tells you to ignore the name, of course, (unless your name is natalie lol) but the whole rest of it is absolutely applicable. he’s very upfront about it. is acting a lot more reassured than he is but he’s literally about to shit himself he wants you so bad bro. he practiced ways to tell you it wasn’t for you / “he didn’t mean it like that, man” before he sent it to you just incase you rejected him lol.

right after you two confess he sends you teenage dirtbag by wheatus and says “fr felt it when they said whatever it was they said, anyway u free tmrw?!”

eijiro kirishima— someone to you; banners

ew this is so cliche. this man would be so cheesy, especially in the preemptive stages of a relationship. if he wants you, you know (i mean maybe not, he’s nice to a lot of people, but he clearly cares about you). he’s on brand fr, but he really, genuinely blares this shit at full volume in his earbuds and headbangs. this is fr how he feels…. he probably wouldn’t panic sending it, he doesn’t think it’s a big confession, he just thinks about you when he hears it so he wants to share.

a kiss; THE DRIVER ERA. his main reason for this one is “just the vibes man!!” he selectively pays attention to lyrics

hanta sero— love is only a feeling; joey bada$$

he’s corny and very transparent about it. he sends it to you like three days before he asks you out. he’s pretty confident, but he types and deletes ‘i’ve got a song that makes me think of you’ about five times before he sends it. i think he listens to a lot of music, but rnb and rnb rap are probably his romantic go to’s in my mind.

alternatively: me and your mama; childish gambino

shoto todoroki— on an evening in roma (sott’er celo de roma)- remastered; dean martin

idk i feel like he listens to a lot of really old pretentious shit. he likes the music, it helps him stay calm, it makes him feel warm. he thinks the instruments are nice when they swell just right, and he wants to share that with you. he has also definitely offered to take you on a trip w his dads money (i hate fanon characters but i absolutely thrive off the idea that shoto buys his s/o shit w his dads money)

also a high chance hed send scene one— james dean & audrey hepburn; sleeping with sirens and that makes me sick to my stomach it’s so cheesy. he’s not like a coward and once he figured out he had feelings for you, he’d be pretty blunt about it.

neito monoma— star killer; bear ghost

if you ask why it makes him think about you he’s gonna say some arrogant shit about how you want him. but actually this is a really good song and he for sure sings it in his bathroom mirror and checks himself out. how humiliating. idk what to say other than listen to it

alternatively: the ballad of big poppa and diamond girl; cobra starship. this song screams neito to me, if i could dance w him to this song life would actually be okay? the only reason i didn’t put it as the main is because i didn’t know if it was projecting, anyway THIS.

hitoshi shinsou— k; cigarettes after sex

this would lowkey be embarrassing for him tbh. this song feels so personal and intimate, if someone you weren’t dating said this reminded you of them, youd have to be really into them for it to not weird you out. however luckily you are really into him. he knows his point is gonna come across, and he’s confident behind it. he sent it as a way to say hey mf im into you, i know you’re into me

compass; the neighbourhood. he kinda listens to teenage girl music, he’s going through that phase. this song is so cute tho!! he’s kinda doting in a weird way, it’s sweet.

movie night with bakugo katsuki

bakugo katsuki isn’t a fan of people — but he is for a fact, a fan of you.

an undeniable truth that everyone clearly understands as they silently watch both of you in the couch, you playing with the intimidating blond boy’s hair with a small smile as he sleeps peacefully on your lap, the occasional twitching of his eyebrows from the different noises seen.

movie night with the class tend to last longer than anyone expects it to be so you use it to your advantage. since sleeping in the same room isn’t allowed (aizawa’s scolding still engraved in your mind the first time he caught you two), you’ve been inviting him out to join the bonding experience with the intention of spending more time together and also because you really want to cuddle with him.

if it was anyone else persuading him to come, bakugo will surely give out a curse and flip them off. he’d rather train alone and go to bed early like he always does.

but because it’s youthat’s asking, of course he has to go.

it always starts the same way every time. he’d roll his eyes and snaps at you that it’s pointless to enjoy the evening with “some extras” yet you find him following you later to sit at the sofa, scowling at kaminari to back off from his spot or threatening to skin mineta alive for eyeing you up.

don’t get him wrong. he still thinks it’s pointless to be with a bunch of extras.

he doesn’t care about the movies or the not so quiet conversations of his annoying friends. he doesn’t even give attention to midoriya’s constant muttering when describing the film.you’rethe reason he’s here. you were the one that sought after his warmth at night — and it’s not like he’s complaining or anything because he’s just as much wanting it as you though he’d die before he admits that.

when you nudge him to lay on your lap and when your eyes twinkle with giddiness when he does so, bakugo finds it bearable to stay in the living room with everyone else. when you use your fingers to massage his scalp and when you intertwine your unoccupied hand with his large ones, bakugo finds it easy to close his eyes and just rest even with all the loud sounds. his ears never fail to catch your voice when you say something to your classmates. he waits for the moments that you’d laugh or complain about a scene because it’s the only ones he’d be willing to listen to.

he sleeps later than usual whenever there’s a movie night but who cares anyways when he’s with you and you’re softly tracing the features of his face?

37. a kiss on the cheek that turns into a kiss on the lips

can be read as a continuation of thisandthis, or independently :-)

image

normally, katsuki would be in bed by 8pm, arms bare in his favourite pyjama tank top tucked into a worn pair of checkered trousers, ready to knock the fuck out.

normally, katsuki would do anything and everything he could to keep to the strict schedule he’s set for himself – sleep by 8, wake up at 5, gym, breakfast, go to work – being a pro-hero meant that indulgences are rare and time is always precious, so routine is important to him.

normally, katsuki doesn’t let anyone interrupt this routine of his. if his mom texts at 8.15pm, well, too bad. he’s dead asleep.

but your relationship with katsuki is anythingbut normal.

which is why you find yourself tucked into his side at 10pm on a Friday night – way past his bedtime – all comfy and cosy in your pyjamas while Zootopia plays on your television.

you watch as the light from the tv casts colourful shadows across his face. despite katsuki’s perpetual frown, you could tell he was relaxed – chest rising and falling slowly as he leans his weight comfortably into your side – and it fills you with satisfaction knowing you’re probably one of his select few who gets to see him like this. when he’s not stained with dust and soot. when the space between his eyebrows remain uncreased and smooth.

when he’s more katsuki than he is dynamight.

a niggling sense of fondness tugs at your heartstrings and you smile to yourself. if you told third-year you that you’d be watching Zootopia with katsuki now, sharing a bottle of cold-pressed fruit juice without beating each other up or cussing each other out, you’d probably laugh and leave.

but by some strange twist of fate, here you are – not quite friends, but not quite lovers either – caught in a playful in-between that is fascinating and challenging all the same.

and this realisation has you pushing yourself up with a hand on his thigh, dropping a quick kiss on the apple of his cheek, before settling back into the crook of his arm.

the air shifts. you wait with bated breath.

katsuki cups your cheek and tilts your face towards his to kiss you properly on the lips – quick and simple, but filled with emotion and truth. he pulls away with a quick swipe of his tongue across your bottom lip, tasting like smokey bits of burnt caramel and buttery popcorn.

when you opened your eyes, you couldn’t help but stare, entranced, by the slightest hint of a smile that graced his lips.

“stop staring at me.”

the hand cradling your cheek moves to cup your jaw while his thumb brushes against your bottom lip. with that very same hand, katsuki turns your head back until you are facing your television once more.

“and focus on the damn movie, shrimpy. they’re about to catch the night howlers.”

Shoto who knows you’re ‘it’when he sees you smiling and laughing with his mother. To see the two most important people in his life getting along so well fills him with an indescribable happiness he never knew he’d feel.

Katsuki who won’t admit that he hugs the hoodie you stole from him at night because it now smells like you and gives him reassurance.

Izuku who unconsciously grabs your hand whenever you’re near him. It doesn’t matter where he is or what he’s doing, the second you‘re next to him, his hand is automatically finding yours.

Denki who tries to keep the little doodles you drew on his hands as long as possible. Yes, he’ll get tease by Sero and Mina for being a simp. But these little drawings you made of him and you kissing are just too damn adorable to want to wash off.

Kirishima who simply knowshe can’t find better than you when he sees you asleep on him, oh so peaceful and calm, and damn, so beautiful. He’s whipped and he isn’t ashamed to admit it. He’ll scream it to the world if he has to.

Tamaki who just loves to hug you from behind. All of his worries somehow wash away the second his nose gets buried in the crook of your neck and he seriously hopes that he‘ll get to keep experiencing that for the rest of his life.

Aizawa who lets you braid his hair and pretends to be annoyed yet he refuses to take them off when he has to go to work and will snap at anyone who makes a comment about them.

Shinso who loves to sleep on your lap, especially after a long and tiring day of doing all of these hero stuff he needs to do. He instantly buries his face in your stomach and closes his eyes, before drifting into a deep and peaceful slumber, knowing he’s safe in your embrace.

Dabi who wears the bracelet you made him when you first started dating every day because it gives him the reminder that he managed to find someone who loves him for who he is and always will.

Hawks who gave you one of his feathers so that you always have a part of him with you. He’s a busy man, after all, he is the number two hero. So he hopes that with this gesture, that may be small but that means so much to him, you’ll never forget that he’s here with you no matter what.

Author’s note:This-… This ended up way longer than expected ? This initially was supposed to be a White Day post, but lets be honest: I would have never finished it if it hadn’t been a gift for one of my favourite persons in the world. So let’s say it’s both a March 14th and 21st post. Happy Birthday again, sweetie ! And hope you guys like it ♡

Please keep in mind that english isn’t my first language, I beg your indulgence for my possible mistakes Hope you’ll like it !

He saw you. He couldn’t help it.

His eyes kept falling on you, beaming in excitement as you browsed the catalogue of the best cafe and restaurants of the city. His ears kept catching your enthusiastic voice as you commented each place, each menu and options of the nearby restaurants, gardens, aquariums.

As you eagerly rambled before coming back to your main topic : organizing your date.

With Midoriya.

Bakugou felt like he was cursed. Honestly, he didn’t want to come across you two. He wasn’t even looking for you in any way, when this kind of unexpected encounters happened. And yet he kept crossing path with you, by pure chance. Or rather by accident. How was that supposed to be a “chance” ?!

Really, he was sick of it. Sick of seeing you two acting all privy, like secretly dating lovey-dovey partners. Did you really think no one would guess what you were, when you obviously met in secret in all sorts of places ? He saw you, damnit ! He saw you in the little corner of the study room, all sneaky, trying not to draw any attention while the room wall was fucking glazed, opening onto one of the more freaking frequented hallway of all UA. He saw you at the library, there again at a discreet table, hidden by the large book shelves and well away from the hall liveliness. He saw you in the dorms yard, visibly talking about the garden flowers.

At some coffee shop. Once, maybe twice. Come to think of it, he was pretty sure it was twice. T W I C E, damnit. Wasn’t the city big enough not to see you every single time you planned, or enjoyed a date ? He even saw you shopping together while he almost never went to the mall, damnit !

And as if all those undesired encounters weren’t enough, he had to regularly witness your small, yet frequent interactions. Chit-chat here, little notes there. Why did you have to be so obvious about it?!

Bakugou wanted to ignore it, to shrug it off and act like he didn’t care… and he almost succeeded, at least on the outside. But on the inside… The boy had never been really good at dealing with his emotions. He may well try and put up a front, at the end of the day Bakugou was still a pretty bad liar, especially to his heart.

And so he kept seeing you. Watching you. Checking on you.

He just couldn’t help it.

But on the inside… The boy had never been really good at dealing with his emotions. He may well try and put up a front, at the end of the day Bakugou was still a pretty bad liar, especially to his heart.

And so he kept seeing you. Watching you. Checking on you.

He just couldn’t help it.

And the more he stumbled upon your little moments, the heavier the weight in his stomach grew.

It’s been two weeks and he still feels the same. Maybe worse, actually. Two weeks he saw you getting closer. Two weeks his stomach couldn’t help but twinge when he saw you two together.

Of course, he still had his moments with you, for training, homeworks, or even just to take a breather after your day. He still had your stupid competitions about who was the fastest to cut the chives competition during which you regularly almost cut your fingers rather than the food, or, more privately, about which one of you would send the first “Good night” text, since you were both early-sleepers. This was a game you started playing when you moved in the dorms, after your friends commented how you both went to sleep like elders. You never stopped since, often teasing each other about it, when one of you seemed more tired than usual. That sort of competitions even started a little game between you two, a game where you’d give the other 5 ¥ when they’d make something first. You’re the first to set a new record in some of your shared video game ? 5 ¥ for you. He’s the first to taste that weird gross-looking new dish of one of your favourite restaurants ? 5¥ for him. You woke up before him ? 5¥ for you. He went to bed before you ? 5¥ for him. Anything and everything became a pretext to compete and gamble. Some pretty good pretexts to play around and take some good time together too, actually.

He still had that. And your stupidly endearing habit of reminding him to drink water “because it’s important for his brain, and essential to his quirk”. And your hopeless attempts to make him laugh, trying to tickle every single reachable skin part of his body. And the unique frown you gave him when he overexerted himself, or went too far with one of his classmates. He still had all that.

But for how long ?

Soon, you’ll graduate and leave the school, the dorms, UA, everything that bonded you together. Soon, you’ll part ways to start a new life, as heroes. And all of those things would become memories.

Plus, it already didn’t feel the same anymore. He didn’t feel as priviledged, as special as before.

He couldn’t stop questioning what your relationship truly was.

Just like Kirishima, he started semi-officially considering you as a friend at the middle of your first year. You weren’t difficult to tolerate and he respected you enough to let you gravitate around his team, until you definitely became part of it. You were then an extra he deemed worthy enough to count as one of his early sidekicks. But everything changed after Kamino. Or rather, after you confronted him and his conflicted self-loathing thoughts, after Kamino.

That night where you had the gutts to talk things out with him, to ignore his agressive shouts, those he used to push you away, hoping to quickly come back to his solitary crisis. That night where you saw right through his aggressive demeanor and chose to stay, because deep down, he needed it. That night where you gathered the courage to contradict him, to fight the obstinate guilt-inducing voices running him down in his head, to reassure him. The night you found the right way, the right words to help and support him.

Without a word to formalize it, that night strengthened your bond, bringing you closer than ever. That’s how you levelled up from “ordinary extra” to “respectable teammate” and then “ever unavowed best friend” in his heart.

But was that truly it?

Through the glazed wall, Bakugou watched you absently, lost in his thoughts. He couldn’t hear what you were saying to Deku, but judging by your theatrical gestures, he could guess you were playing a sort of overly cliché declaration of love. You looked ridiculous. So ridiculous that Bakugou found himself snorting a little, despite the twinge in his chest. You seemed happy. As always, he thought to himself, since you were such a smiley dork. But you seemed.. well. Truly well.

And in the end, wasn’t that all that truly mattered ?

He could stay with his questions, his thoughts and doubts, with the twinges in his stomach forever.

As long as you were happy, it was okay for him. He would deal with his inner conflicts on his own, like the big boy he was, and that would be the best for both of you.

You didn’t need to know anything. And he wouldn’t have to change a thing. He just had to act normal, like the brash and outstanding friend he was. Live his best life, working hard and excelling in everything to open his own agency and become the n°1 hero, while tolerating some moments with his classmates, including you among that bunch.

Simple. That had to be simple, right ? He lived like that since his youngest years. Yeah, he definitely could do this. He got this.

Or so he thought.

Days passed, quite the same yet different. Bakugou worked, and worked a lot, in your final classes, then in training, then in his bedroom. You’d help each other, as always, with workout and paperwork sessions. Sometimes he’d take a moment to breath, hanging out or playing with his team, before coming back to his work, or training. Classic days during which he’d share moments, tasks and talks with you, as you always did. Nothing more, nothing less.

Things seemed to go the right way. Actually, he was even pretty satisfied with the way he handled things until now. Burying his twinges and feelings wasn’t that hard, in the end.

That is, until his ears finally paid attention to the thing everyone’s been talking about since litteral weeks, the hot topic of the moment… : The Great Parade.

Why did shitty hair have to bring the topic today, after their boys team training session? Why now, while he was just starting to think he was doing well at handling his shit ?

… Well, maybe because the event was due like, tomorrow ? And maybe because that had been the girls’, then the boys’ main topic since literally two weeks , even while Bakugou ears decided to remain deaf and shut until his best friend brought the topic and forced its way through them ? It’s been two years, two years he has to put up with Denki’s never-ending jeremiads and tergiversations, whether or not he should invite Kyouka on a date… and yet he still never remember the fact that this shitty parade takes place between the 2nd and the 3rd week of March. This year, on the very first day of the second week, to be precise.

- But maaan, I don’t know, what if I’m just a good friend and that’s all, I don’t wanna ruin everything.. whined the blond, apparently decided to honour his traditional tergiversations, once again.

- You received Valentine chocolates, didn’t you ? Pointed out Sero, trying to boost his friend. So tomorrow is time to reciprocate !

- But what if they were just polite ones..

- Absolutely no one chooses a heart-shaped box for Giri choko. It was definitely an Honmei box, man.

- Yeah but what if-..

- Man, it’s the White day ! It’s definitely the perfect date, in every way! You have to ask her !

The taping hero carried on, developing his arguments to convince his friend. “Such a lucky coincidence don’t happen twice”… “ You can’t wait forever”, “You definitely have to do it tomorrow”, he argued. Or something along these lines. Actually, Katsuki weren’t really listening anymore, the chat of his friends becoming a fuzzy background brouhaha he didn’t even try to follow.

And while the boys carried on their talk, more or less proudly announcing their date plans for the next day, Katsuki’s mind remained stuck on one sentence, exactly five words pronounced minutes earlier.

“It’s the White day!”

Damn.

Suddenly, memories resurfaced, images, visions flooding his mind and soul. The visions of your moments with Deku.

Collecting his memories, his mind put the pieces of the puzzle together… And it clicked.

So that was what the chit-chat, the notes, the whispers, mysteries and secret stuff were all about. You surely were planning your White Day with Deku.

In the end, that didn’t change anything to your situation. You were dating Deku. That was it, and that was all. He already knew that, after all. He had accepted it.

But then, why did he feel his gut clench when Flat Face mentioned the White day ? Why did he feel his heart twinge at the thought of you and Deku going to the Parade together ? Just, what was that pang in his chest ? He thought he had accepted, swallowed it. He thought he was done with–

- And you, Kacchan~ ?

Dunce face’s voice suddenly pulled him from his unexpected introspection.

- You gonna ask Y/L/N-chan ?

As if he needed that kind of dumb question right now.

- Haaa? You really thought I’d go to such a shitty event ? What kind of fool did you take me for, Dunce ?! He instinctively answered, his usual frown on his face.

- C'mon, dude! You don’t need to be shy about it, you two are just so obvious it hurts !

- Look who’s talking! Sneered Sero.

- I am not that flagrant! He looks at her like a lovesick fool, I swear ! Didn’t you see it ?!

- I wouldn’t say that if I–

- Oi oi.. Just say that again Dunce face ? The explosive hero answered, sparks popping from his hands.

- Guys.. Help ?

- C'MON SAY THAT AGAIN–

The team break ended up turning into a new physical exercise session, Kirishima and Sero running after Bakugou who was himself chasing after Kaminari, loud explosions threatening his backside.

Frustrated by Dunce face blind stupid questions, Katsuki barely slept that night.

Instinctively following the pathway, Bakugou progressed in his walk back to the dorms, occasionnally kicking in the stones in his way. If he was used walking back to the dorms alone, after some of his never-ending training sessions, this time, the walk felt different.

Today, every single member of his team had left to get everything ready, or get dressed for their White day date. Shitty hair apologized and left a little bit earlier than usual to take a shower, because “stinking for a first date wouldn’t be very manly”. Dunce face, who had finallygotten his shit together and made his move, wanted to stop by some shop to buy a present. And Flat face had to get back the cakes and sweet treats Sato had helped him to cook for his date. He even crossed paths with Earphones, all dressed up, visibly ready to go to her date. She seemed a little embarrassed when he caught her eye, nodding. Maybe she wanted to go discreetly. Maybe she was shy about it.

He wondered if you would be shy about it too. If you were* shy about it too , his brain corrected. It wasn’t like you weren’t already dating someone… Or at least planning to date someone.

Speaking about the devil, he just passed Deku coming the other way, mumbling his plans for tonight.

“ Coffee-shop, then the parade, then the fireworks, then the park… Or was it the reverse ? Y/L/N-chan said that there was enough for two dates and that we’ll see on site, but… ”

He couldn’t hear the end of the green-haired boy mumbles, yet what he had been able to catch was already enough to get on his nerves. In the past, he probably would have blown him up for that. But past was past. He wasn’t that immature brat anymore. He had grown up and learned, learned to cooperate, learned to understand and help others, learned to contain himself.

And yet, there was still one thing, that one thing that was just beyond his abilities : Giving up. Giving up on his dreams. Giving up on what he wanted. Giving up on..

- Y/N-chaaaan! See you tomorroow!

Racoon-eyes’ voice pulled him out of his thoughts, urging him to raise his head and look up from the stones on his way.

There you stood, visibly back from your own training session: probably swimming one, judging by the wet towel sticking out of your bag. From his distance, he could admire how the sunset was floodlighting you, illuminating your face while highlighting your silhouette. And despite the meters between you, he was still able to distinguish how its warm colours danced in your hair, tinting them in so many different shades. He even noticed your damp tips, confirming him you indeed had been swimming. The sky was clear, but even if this year temperatures seemed warmer than usual, the atmosphere remained quite chilly, especially at the end of the day. You didn’t see to care, though. That didn’t really surprise him, yet Katsuki couldn’t help but notice this kind of things. How brave, strong and tough you were, among so many other things.

- Minaaaa-chaaan! Yeah, see you ! Have fun, and don’t forget any detail, you’ll have to tell me everything tomorrow!

- Yeah, and you too!

- Ha ha, yeah yeah, sure you laughed, trying to hide your embarrassment.

You weren’t really looking forward to telling them how your best friend rejected you two weeks before the end of your year. Really, you could wait for that. Maybe they would forget it. Maybe their date will be so awesome that they’ll forget that you planned to confess tonight. Yeaaaah… maybe ?

- As if Mina would forget something like that.. You whined for yourself, a sigh escaping your lips as your arms dropped, dangling.

- Forget something like what ?

You jumped, surprised by the unexpected question of your unexpected best friend.

- Bakugou ! You startled me !

- Yeah, think I saw that’.

You frowned, wrinkling your nose at his teasing. It was often like that, between you two. Always teasing each other, the fool frowning, grumbling or shouting in a more or less fake fury while the tease smirked, laughed or ran for their life ~~(a situation surprisingly not always reserved to your case, since Bakugou sometimes ended up playing along, letting you chase him when you were alone~~. After all, he kinda liked being chased by you. But that’s a secret)~~.

- So? What’s the thing Racoon eyes’ is supposed to forget ?

- A bet. Sort of.

But anyway ! You were coming back from your boys band training ? You teased him, gently punching his shoulder to distract him from your sudden change of topic.

Will the great Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight grant me the honour of walking back with him ? You theatrically asked, trying to reinforce your composure by joking around.

Always, he thought, his mushiness taking his own brain aback. Just, what was wrong with him ?!

- Tsk, maybe, he said, resuming his walk to put up a bold front, hoping it would help to cope with, or at least cover the mess of his brain and heart.

Taken aback by his plain answer, you just stood there, puzzled and rooted to the spot, watching his back move away in the distance while replaying his word in your head.

It was a simple word. A plain “Maybe”. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to worry anyone else. Yet this answer made you stress a little more over what you wanted to tell him. Not because he teased you back with his answer. But because he didn’t tease you back enough.

Something felt… off. Something was definitely wrong and you couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

Maybe today wasn’t the right day, after all ? Maybe you should wait for another chance.

It was not like these were your very last days of life together, after all. Not like you weren’t exactly 17 days away from the end of your student years. Not like most of you were gonna part ways to start up their own agencies, after the graduation ceremony. Nooo. Not at all. You weren’t two weeks away from your very last chance to confess to your best friend and tell him what he truly meant to you, before he probably decided to travel overseas to surpass All Might. Absooolutelynot.

How convenient denial can be, sometimes, the pragmatic part of your own brain sneered at you. But you preferred not thinking about it, quickly opting to join him in his walk.

- So!… You began, a bit short of breath after hopping to catch up with his him. How was it?

Lost in his thoughts, or more accurately trying to get a grip on his inner mess, Katsuki took some solid 10 seconds to hear, then to process your words.

How was it ? How was what ?

His non-existent night of sleep?

His pseudo-talks with his team, which sounded more like a competition about who would have the best date tonight ? Or his brief yet infuriating encounter with Deku, mumbling about the date you had been planning since literal weeks?

- I mean, not only your training with the boys, but your whole training day, at the agency ?

Oh. His day. Training, patrol, reports, paperworks, workout. Things like that. Of course you meant it that way. That was a fucking logic and classic question.

- ’t was fine. Patrolled with the sidekicks. We had to handle a bunch of trifle-villains, a couple of robbers and we evacuated a building partially destroyed by one of the villains.

- A not so bad one, if he was able to destroy anything under your watch.

- Was an accident. He actually destabilized a crane which ended up falling on the building.

- I see. No victims, I guess

- Of course not. Were no match for us. The budding hero instinctively answered, his signature smirk on his prettyface.

His answer made you smile. Not because he was bragging : he always was, it was as natural as breathing for him. You were used to it and kinda liked that part of his brash personality. His answer didn’t make you smile because he was the best. But because he was better. Better at cooperating. Better at saying “us” than “me”, “we” than “I”. Better at including others, his team, in the glory and credit he once used to claim for himself. Better in so many things. A better hero, and a better person. And you were really proud, proud and happy of being able to witness his blossoming as such.

Peeping out of the corner of his eye, Katsuki noticed and secretly took in the sight of your smile, wondering what caused it.

- What’s so funny ?

- Nothing ! I’m listening, I swear, carry o-

- Spit it out. You were snorting.

- I wasn’t ! I was smiling to myself !

- For what ?

- Do I really need a reason to smile whー. You stopped middle-sentence, blessing the inner sirens that suddenly wailed in your head. You almost blurt it out. You almost let this “when I’m with you” come out of your mouth of its own will, right from your heart. Thanks lord you didn’t finish that sentence.

Katsuki, as for him, didn’t feel as relieved as you were, taking your silence for a secret he did and didn’t want to know at the same time. Were you smiling thinking about Deku and your.. your evening with him ? Were you smiling for Deku ?

Were you dating Deku ?

He knew it. He just knew the answer to that question. Yet he just couldn’t pluck up the courage to simply ask you.

Because, deep inside, hidden behind all his pragmatic, down-to-earth and objectifying walls, deep in his heart, a small voice never ceased fanning the embers of his hope, noting and taking in every single positive interactions between you, as brief and little as it was. Every smile. Laugh. Shared knowing looks. Every touch. Every text.

These were all the things the little voice in his heart would cling to and talk about to keep his hopes alive.

But in the end, would it be right ?

Maybe not.

-I’m just happy you had a great day, that’s all. You quickly corrected, pouting to hide the blush tinting your cheeks.

Surely not.

In the end, he had to be ready to hear it. Even if he didn’t want to.

- Sure as hell you worked and did a lot too. He answered evasively, mostly to keep the conversation going. If he was sincerely interested in your life, always finding devious means to encourage you to talk about your thoughts and day ~~(which meant, in his language, teasing and provoking you to trigger one of your extraordinarily long and passionate speech about something you would fight anyone for)~~, this time his mind nor heart weren’t really there, which explained the pat answer.

- It was a kinda big day for me too, I have to admit. We worked on our support formation, in evacuation and back up simulations. It was intense !

You took a moment to relate your day, narrating every single moment as if you were reliving it. Listening to the sound and variation of your voice, Bakugou tried to let go of his thoughts, focusing on your intonations rather than the turmoil of his head. He almost succeeded, actually, nodding, humming and passing comments here and there.

- A big day, uh.

- Yeah, definitely ! Seems like we both worked a lot.

Bakugou let out an assenting hum, before silence fell back on you.

It was now, or never.

- That’s why… You started hesitantly. You knew this sentence was like a slope : the first steps would be okay and at the second you’d start to think that you were handling it, you’d rush downhill, unable to turn back. And that, just like in a steep slope, you could mess up and stumble, tumble down the hill at any moment. You just hoped you wouldn’t break anything in the process. In the end, that really was all you asked.

- That’s why, you gulped, picking up your sentence, I think I’ll skip our report and paperwork session for today.

That was it.

That was the moment you were both dreading for.

For you, the moment you’d tell him you’d like to go to the Parade with him. The very first, yet already meaningful step towards your confession.

For him, the moment you’d tell him you would miss your usual shared work session, because you planned to go to the parade with Deku.

And that’s the moment he knew he just couldn’t accept it. The moment the little voice in his chest changed into a real, sincere cry from the heart, shattering his walls, silencing his rational thoughts, pulsing sheer adrenaline in his veins.

Fuck his brain and his “You’ll get over it” thoughts. Fuck the “Let’s be rational, they’re obviously flirting”, the “already too late”, and the “that’s better this way”.

Since when had he been thinking like such a loser? When did he start thinking about giving up without even trying ? Without putting up a good fight ? Just, when did he start thinking about giving up ? Giving up on you, on top of that. It wasn’t like he was giving up his lunch or movie seat. He was giving up his place in your life, his place in your heart.

And he really thought he could just, step aside for someone else ? And watch them be there, standing by your side, taking place in your heart, and applaud everything from afar like the fool he would be ?

How dumb he was. Dumb and deaf, deaf to his own heart now furiously beating in his chest, mind, in his whole soul. But he heard it, now. He was even hearing it so well that his sound and voices overcame everything, muffling the sound of your voice, still playing in the background. You were probably trying to contextualize your confession, struggling to find the words to explain and justify why you wanted to take your evening off.

~~And that’s exactly what you were doing, but not in the way he was imagining it~~.

He didn’t know. Actually, he was more speculating than really listening to the content of your speech, his brain and being currently busier processing his denial and general feelings.

Since when had he been… ? Since Kamino ? Maybe. Since Jaku ? Perhaps.

Without ever clearly admitting it to himself, he always knew, or rather felt that he enjoyed your presence. Your logical presence in UA, your respectable presence in this class, your pleasant presence in his team, then your likeable and comforting presence in his life.

When did these adjectives start to evolve ? He didn’t really know.

- Sorry if this sounds all of sudden, I was so caught up in scheduling, organization and all that I didn’t really know if I could allow myself some free time for tonight.

What he knew was that he enjoyed every single stupid moment with you, as fleeting and ordinary as it can be. The training sessions where you’d tease him non-stop, trying his verylimited patience till he lost it, starting to chase after you to make you pay for it. The time where he discovered that his smallest sparks were excellent tickling weapons, making you scream so loud people thought he was torturing you for real. The infuriating times where you’d suddenly soak him head to toe, just for fun, which ended up helping him to speed up his heating process just to pursue you quicker. The times where you’d fall asleep on his desk at the end of some of your late paperwork sessions, a voice in his chest urging him to cover you with one of his blanket and let you snooze there. And vice versa, the times where he’d end up snoozing a little, resting his head on your lap after one of your big work out sessions. Your desperate and obstinate attempts to play the drums like him. And his fakely bored ~~yet deep down sincerely interested~~ attempts to do stuff like you. The cooking fights. The game fights. The co-op times. Everything.

Absolutely every stupid second in your company.

- But, I’ve been thinking about it, and…

When did he start falling for you ? He didn’t know.

But what he knew for sure was that he couldn’t let you finish this sentence. He couldn’t let you go. Not with Deku. Not with anyone else.

He never accepted to be a second player, after all. And he wouldn’t start now. Not with you. Not when the prize to win was a place beside you.

He wanted to be the n°1 in your eyes, in your heart. And if he really couldn’t be, he at least wanted you to know that youwere n°1 in his heart.

The realization made him stop in his tracks, fist clenched, trembling.

That was selfish. He knew it. That had been the reason of his weeks-long silence and denial.

But as he watched your figure move away in the reddening sunset, he knew he just couldn’t let you go.

He just couldn’t let you finish this sentence. Not without telling you. Not without trying to.

- You know, there’s this event, the, the Parade tonight and I wanted to ー…

- Don’t go with him. He cut you off, making you realize he wasn’t walking beside you anymore. Bewildered, you slowly turned around, looking at him in confusion.

- Don’t go with… ?

- With stupid Deku. He blurted out, head low, fists clenched.

But he couldn’t deliver his next sentence like that.

So he took a breath and raised his head, staring deep into your eyes, a deep yet sincere expression on his face.

-Go with me instead.

A cool wind was picking up, some of its soft breezes playing around your head, dancing in your hair and whispering in your ears. But you wouldn’t pay attention to their murmurs. Not when your head and mind were already full of confused thoughts, each and every of them revolving around a sole sentence. 4 little words pronounced with the deepest determination in the world, each word being emphasized by a pair of shining orbs, like two rubies lit up by the sunlight… or maybe emotions ?

- Wait … What ?

Did you think that out loud ? Shit. You surely did, considering the sudden twitch of his brows.

You had to clarify things, before imagining things, raising false hopes or hurting him unintentionally.

- Bakugou… Are you asking me out?

Yes. Yes he was. Even if he already knew your answer. Yes, he was asking you out.

But even as he braced for the shock, getting ready to listen to the confirmation he dreaded to hear, even as his heart was already clenching at his expected rejection, a little part of him was still hoping, helping him to put up his classic brash front, despite his trembling heart.

- Hell what if I am ?

For a brief moment, he caught you smiling to yourself, and couldn’t help but wondering why. Why this smile. Why now.

His heart was about to explode, and you were smiling. You really were impossible.. But damn, he liked that. He really, deeply liked that. Because it was a part of you.

Before he could analyse you any longer, you started walking towards him, cutting off his reflections. You walked unhesitatingly, this same smile still on your face. A smile he couldn’t decipher, but secretely admired instead.

- Well… I don’t have any money on me, but… You whispered, smiling mischievously as you stood on your tip-toe to reach his face. - Consider this as my 5 ¥, you softly murmured to his ear, before gently planting a kiss on the corner of his cheek.

Wait, what ? He, you -

It was Katsuki’s turn to bug, struggling to get a grip on what was happening there.

You. Kissed his cheek. And it wasn’t a “Sorry, I don’t like you this way” kiss, as he was expecting it.

It was a knowing, a conniving kiss. A winkingone.

A kiss that said “I’m in.” And more importantly… A 5¥ kiss. Which meant you…

- You got me. I was trying to ask you the same thing.

Suddenly, a wave of mixed feelings overwhelmed Katsuki. Pride, relief, coyness… Happiness, excitement..And such a misunderstanding feeling.

- And before you ask, I’m half-sorry but… I never planned on going to the parade with Deku. I haven’t coached him since literal weeks to end up taking Ochaco’s place. And he was.. sort of advising me for my own date plans, too… You explained, suddenly feeling a little bit embarrassed at the idea he could have mistaken that for some kind of flirt.

Suddenly, memories resurfaced, images flooding his mind again. Once again, his mind put the pieces of the puzzle together… And it clicked. For real, this time.

It was just such a big misunderstanding.

But it was for the best.

- Tsk, we’ll have to test those plans of yours, then. See if they’re worth it. He answered, his typical brash smirk back on his face. I’ll see you at 7 p.m.

And without even waiting for your answer, he left, as if it was nothing. As if his heart wasn’t about to burst with joy and excitement. As if he hadn’t just made the biggest step to win his place in your life.

In the end, he should seriously think of paying Deku back for that one.

Your widened eyes scanned over the figure, from head to toe. He was taller than you, much taller than you. Had to be a good 8 ft, maybe even a little more. What caught your attention were its eyes. Its irises were blood red, while its sclera was pitch black. They were the colors of nightmares and war. Despite the dark association, you couldn’t help but think they were beautiful. Surrounding its eyes was a lighter shade of black, not gray per se but more of a licorice black. The color outlined its face like a mask, filling in its area. Your eyes moved to the side. With this angle, you could see part of its back, and oh boy, were you not prepared to see it. Trailing along its back were spines. The spikes were multicolored, black with tips of red on them. They weren’t really long, but they were sharp as if one placement of your finger would cut you and cause blood to pool. Your eyes squinted as you took notice of a bright light behind him that was pulsating, going in and out as it looked like it was flickering. You could see chunks of some type of metal from the light radiating from it. Was that a… spaceship? You gulped nervously.

Your face pales as the figure is standing right in front of you, gripping the bat, mid-swing, to the point where it caves in on itself. “What. The. Fuck,” you think to yourself.

Dis is fluff about my angry boi. He deserves some love :,(

Ah Valentine’s Day…
The one day where you can shamelessly buy your crush some flowers or chocolates and they have to accept it.
UA’s halls buzzed with glee and chittering from its students. You sat at your desk, doodling in your notebook as you waited for class to start.
“Hey Y/N!” Denki’s head dips below your eyes, taking away your sight of the page that your pen made contact with.
“Why hello there human taser.” You say with a smile. “What can I do ya for?”
“I just wanted to give you this.” He stated casually, pulling out a box of chocolates.
You pout with thankful and joyful eyes. As if you had just seen a puppy. “Aww Kaminari.”
“Don’t thank me, they’re actually from Kiri, he just got too nervous so I did it for him.” Your smile widens, the thought of nervous Kiri was one you found quite adorable. You lean further into your desk to look at Kiri who sat in the same row.
“Thank you.” You mouth to him.
He blushes and mouths back. “Happy Valentine’s Day.” His lips curled into a contagious smile.
“Anyways… I got you this!” Denki whipped out a heart shaped card and slammed it on your desk excitedly. “Happy V day weirdo!”
You laugh at him and pick up the card. “Thank you doofus.” You say as you lightly punch him in the arm.

“Y/N!” You turn to see a joyous Midoriya. “Hey! How’s your Valentine’s so far?”
“Chocolates from Kiri, card from Denki, Koji picked me some flowers and Shoji kept Mineta as far away from everyone as possible. So pretty great!” You beam.
“Wow! That’s awesome! Got a Valentine yet?”
“Nah,” You shrug, “I mean, I’ve gotten gifts but not really a Valentine specifically. What about you?”
“Few cards, nothing too special.” He laughs. “Beats nothing though.”
“That’s true.” As your eyes glance up you notice Bakugo heading towards the two of you. A frown plastered on his face with his hands shoved in his pockets. It’s not like a negative face on him was unusual, this one just seemed different in some sort of way. He slipped past in silence. “Hey, what about Bakugo? Has he gotten anything?” You ask as you peer back at him.
“Not that I know of. Kacchan never really liked Valentine’s Day.”
“Hm.” Your brows furrow.

7:34pm
You pace your room in thought, glancing over to the blood red rose that Sero left by your door.
Valentine’s Day made you smile. Made you feel loved and appreciated.
You hands slip into your bottom drawer and pull out a small, rectangular box. You kick the drawer closed and hide the box in your jumper, slipping out of your room.

Your knuckles lightly knock on the wooden door that stood before your wandering eyes. It forcefully swung open exposing a grumpy Katsuki Bakugo. “What do you want?” He grunted as he eyed you off.
“Just wanted to ask you somethin’.” You smile warmly. Your gentle eyes settling on his fiery ones.
“Get it over with.” His tone never seemed to change from simply irritated.
You hesitate, wondering whether or not you should just back out. “Well…” You unzip your jumper and pull out the box. “I got you this.” You place it in his hands as he raises an eyebrow. “I know you like spicy stuff so I got these really tasty–”
“Why?” He frowns again.
You inhale deeply. Probably at the sheer stupidity and cluelessness of this cutie. “I wanted to know… if you’d be my Valentine.” You release the breath that made home to your lungs.
Bakugo was silent. It felt like hours had past as he just stood. Staring at you. “You’re serious aren’t you?”
“Of course.” You say firmly. You wanted him to know that you meant business.
Silence once again. He sighed exasperatedly. “Fine.” His reply taking you by complete surprise.
Your eyes lit up. “Great! No backing out now. Come with me, we’re watching a movie back at my dorm.”
“What?! I never agreed to this!” He barked as you dragged him out of his room by his hand.
“Too bad so sad. I said so.” You skip off down the hall, looking back every few seconds to make sure he was following.
Surely enough, even while dragging his feet, he was. Perhaps it was the night to finally tell him. You wanted him to be your Valentine for a while now.
“Hey Y/N.”
“Hm?”
“Thanks. I guess.”

As soon as lessons had finished, everyone rushed to their respective friends, chatting away as a few curious eyes darted toward the new girl.

Bakugou walked up to her desk, his bag already packed and slung over his shoulder. She looked up at him with a small smile. “What is it?”

“Are you not going to pack away?” he grumbled, giving her a look of confusion and she sat still in her seat.

“I don’t see the need to rush.” she replied quietly, starting to gather her pen and books.

“Well if you don’t hurry up and train then you won’t be able to beat those losers.” he declared, grabbing the remaining few textbooks off her desk and stuffing them into her book bag.

“Shall we go?” he asked, raising and eyebrow at her, to which she pursed her lips and nodded.

“Is Bakubro ditching us again?” Kirishima wondered aloud as he watched the two leave the classroom together.

“Yeah, it feel kinda quiet without his constant noise.” Kaminari piped up, a small frown on his face.

“Well I’m sure he’ll join us again soon.” Mina cheered, giving the boys both a smile before looping her arms around their necks. Sero watched from the side with a smile before suggesting that they too should start training soon.

Together the four walked back to the dorms, spotting the two ahead. It was mainly Bakugou who spoke, Y/N nodding in response, occasionally letting out a small reply.

“And your hero work?” he inquired, pushing open the dorm doors and walking to the stairs, her trailing behind him.

“I’m due to start again next week.” she answered. “I guess they’ll call me whenever and pull me out of class. Kind of a bother to be honest.”

“Do you not want to attend school?” he peered back over his shoulder, slowing down his pace so she could walk up the stairs next to him.

“I just don’t really see the point.”

“Why?”

“Well I’m already a pro hero aren’t I?” Her tone was soft yet her replies were sharp and to the point.

“What about middle school? What did you do then?”

“I was home schooled.“

He nodded in reply, unlocking his room and entering. She followed and closed the door behind her, setting her bag down on the floor next to his desk.

“So training?” she asked.

“Yeah. Better to do something productive than stay cooped up in your room all day.” he said. “Did Midnight bring any sports clothes?”

“No.” she shook her head, standing awkwardly in the middle of the room as she watched him run around trying to sort things out for her.

“Here, you can borrow some of mine for now.” he said, pulling out a pair of joggers and a old t shirt. He placed them in her hands and watched as her eyes looked them over continuously. “They’re clean I promise.” he grumbled.

She nodded, content, before walking over to the bathroom, locking the door and getting changed. Although half way through putting the shirt on, her reflection caught her eye. Large ugly lines littered her body, each surrounded by a slightly darker hue that only accented the eyesore. She felt her breath hitch at the sight, tracing each scar with her eyes before she felt her eyesight go blurry with tears.

A knock on the door took her out of her trance, a squeak escaping her mouth in response.

“Have you fallen into the toilet or something?” Bakugou shouted from outside.

“Wait, I’m nearly done.” she responded, hastily pulling the top down and gathering up her neatly folded school uniform in her arms, unlocking the bathroom door and stepping back into his bedroom.

“God woman, you took forever.” he muttered before pointing to a rather large plastic box set next to the wall at the end of his bed. “You can keep your stuff in there if it helps.”

She crouched down and eyed the box for any trace of dust, a small hum showing she was happy before placing down her uniform in the corner.

“You have a few more stuff to put away right?” he spoke up, sighing for dramatic effect.

“Yeah.” she nodded.

“I’ll go downstairs and fill up up our water, come down when you’re done and lock the door.” She once again nodded and he turned to leave the room. “And hurry up.”

“Alright thanks.” she said, hearing him say ‘no problem’ before the door clicked shut.

She hurriedly unpacked the things from the small suitcase Midnight had brought earlier, finding some neatly folded underwear, some pairs of socks and some other things. Settling them all neatly into the box, she closed down the lid, zipped up the suitcase and left the room, making sure to lock the door before walking down the hallway to the stairs.

She pondered about the blonde. She felt no ill intent from him or his words. He was simply harsh and abrasive, a little rough in his social skills but that didn’t mean he was a bad person in any way. She had picked up on his way to try and comfort her, something she was very grateful for. He even went as far to reassure her every time she wondered if something was dirty or not.

“Y/N right?” a voice brought her out of her thoughts and she turned to see a black haired girl walking towards her. “I’m Yaoyorozu but you can just call me Momo, it’s nice to meet you.” she smiled.

She returned the gesture with a small smile and a ‘it’s nice to meet you too’ before asking the other girl if she needed something.

“No not really.” Yaoyorozu said, pausing before continuing with a “I was just wondering why you don’t use the lift?”

“I wasn’t aware there was a lift.” She answered truthfully. “But it’s alright, I could do with a little more exercise lately.”

Yaoyorozu giggled at her comment. “I’m sure you don’t.” she said. “Where are you going? I could perhaps accompany you.”

“I’m just going downstairs to the common room I think.”

“Alright, let’s go.” Yaoyorozu said, taking the lead as the two girls descended the stairs.

“What are you going to do today?” she asked, feeling a need to make sure the girl wasn’t alone in the afternoons, not just as the classes’ vice president but also as a friend.

“Some training with Katsuki.” she replied. The use of Bakugou’s first name had taken Yaoyorozu back, despite her seeing their constant interactions during the school hours.

“Are you two close?” she asked. To pry into someone’s personal life wasn’t something she would normally do, however curiosity was getting the better of her.

Y/N hummed in response as they turned around the corner. She was slightly stuck with having a conversation with someone her age. She didn’t know what they would talk about, or what type of responses would satisfy the other person, however Yaoyorozu was the one directing the conversation and she was grateful that the girl had struck up a conversation with her.

“Not really.” she said curtly, before spotting him leaning against the wall on his phone. “Alright, I’ll see you later Yaoyorozu.”

“Momo’s fine.”

“Thank you Momo.” she bowed slightly before running off to Bakugou, who looked up from his phone.

“Took you long enough. What were you talking about with Ponytail?”

“Nothing much, just introductions.” she answered, taking one of the water bottles from him. “Thanks.”

“Whatever. Come on let’s go.”

His question was half-hearted. To be honest, he didn’t care what the two girls were talking about. God, he didn’t care half the time when people were talking to him, but for some reason the girl next to him did nothing but pipe his interest.

Whenever he saw her or thought of her, his mind would be clouded by questions. Was she okay? Why was she such a clean freak? Was his food today okay? He knew she had complimented it during lunch but his insecurities grew with along the pride that prevented him from voicing out his thoughts.

A question that rattled his mind for hours on end was what did she think of him?

She was utterly thankful. She had voiced her thanks the previous night, but not even words could describe the happiness she felt when she was with her first out-of-hero-work friend. She was elated, although it was hard to tell from her short replies and seemingly uninterested persona. She was so grateful

that he stayed

by her side.

Word Count: 1.6K

He was an A+ student. An example of perfection. A winner. Katsuki Bakugou was not a quitter. But, right now, he sure as hell felt like one. He loves you with a kind of love he didn’t think he’d ever be able to feel, and he thinks of you - often. When Ectoplasm is droning on about anti-derivatives and random numbers to the power of 4, his mind wanders and takes a trip to wherever you are. In training, sometimes he catches a quick glance of you and then he can’t remember what he was going to do next. And at night, right before he goes to bed and closes his eyes, he sees your smile - and then he can’t sleep. So, he has to do homework, or workout, or something. Anything he could possibly think of to get you out of his mind, but dammit, he just can’t. It scares him sometimes, to think that there is such a person who captures so much of his attention. But if he’d had to pick someone, he’d pick you every time.

There was something about the way you held yourself that made him so attracted to you. Your confidence never reached a level of arrogance - something he struggled with, even though he didn’t care to admit it. Your leadership capabilities were strong and sound, rivaling both him and the class representative. And your power - your athleticism and efficiency in training and on the battlefield was admirable. Bakugou had met his match in you.

The sun felt nice as the two of you were laying in the greenspace just to the side of Heights Alliance, relishing in a moment of peace. It had been Bakugou’s idea, actually, to get away from the clamor that was the common room, what with board game arguments running rampant and debates over homework answers. It was nice outside. Calm. Unlike most people, you could attribute those adjectives to time spent with Bakugou.

Your eyes were closed as your face was up towards the sun and there was a relaxed smile on your face. It had been a little while since either you or Bakugou had spoken, so you opened one of your eyes to get a peek of him, trying to see if he had fallen asleep. To your surprise, his gaze was trained on yours and then flicked away the second he saw you look at him. You let your eyelid flutter closed again, but a larger smile spreads across your face.

“What, do I have something on my face?” You say, already knowing you don’t.

“You know you don’t, you just want me to know that you knew I was looking at you.” Bakugou retorts warmly, seemingly reading your mind. You laugh a bit and roll to your side so you could meet his eyeline more easily and he does the same. Crimson meets Y/E/C.

Bakugou’s face is placated but his mind is in turmoil. Why can’t he just end all this and say it? He knows, or is at least 98% sure, that you have feelings for him. But, what he also knows, is that he has to be the one to say those three little words. And it wasn’t in some weird, backwards, gender stereotyped way that he had to be the one to say it, but it was because he needed to be the one to commit. You didn’t have a problem with committing to a relationship, and since you’ve known him, he’s given no indication of even wanting a relationship. So, now, he has to buck up and do it.

“What rusty gear is trying to move around in there,” you say, poking his forehead. He shakes his head a bit and grabs the hand you had raised towards it, keeping his palm enclosed around yours. You smiled a bit and shimmied your body a bit closer to his. The grass was tickling your legs and the warm breeze was swirling around you but the only thing that was making you feel something. You take a deep breath, then exhale.

“Katsuki, I-”

“Shut it.” He says quickly, squeezing your hand a bit to satiate the sting that his words left. Your eyes were wide, though, as he cut you off. His gaze flickers with a bit of regret from his word choice and his lips fight a frown. “I know what you’re gonna say.”

“Then just let me say it.” You murmur, slipping your hand out of his to instead mess with the grass. You pluck out blades and then pick those apart, leaving a litter of green on the ground. He takes you in one last time. The sundress you have on is pretty - something you don’t wear normally. The fabric spills around both of your sides, rumpling it a bit and ensuring that you’ll need to iron it out. Your knees are grass-stained along with your fingers, the pale green rubbing onto your skin to give it a somewhat sickly hue. It made you seem so real, so tangible. How can anyone like you truly be real? But his hand was on yours. Your knees are almost touching his. And the way he can almost see the pores on your face, the individual lashes adorning your gorgeous Y/E/C eyes…

“Close your eyes.” He says, receiving narrowed brows from you. You propped your head up with your elbow and your Y/H/C hair cascades around your shoulders.

“Why.” You say.

“Just do it.” Bakugou sighs.

“No, I wanna know your reasoning.” You insist. Another reason why Bakugou likes you - you push his buttons.

“Because if I’m gonna say, I need you to close your eyes. Makes me nervous when you look at me like that.” He admits, avoiding your eye-contact. Bakugou catches the shock and excitement in your expression, and so quickly, you close your eyes. His breathing grows more shallow by the second as he looks at you. Wherever the two of you have been within your friendship, it has been teetering towards a romance for what felt like forever, and he just wants to see you once more when you’re just his friend. It’s weird how he feels bittersweet about the whole thing - obviously, he wants more with you. He wants the late movie nights with you tucked under his arm, the dinner dates to that takoyaki place, the hiking trips to the tops of mountains where the both of you feel like you’re at the top of the world. But this Y/N - the one who is so nervous yet so thrilled to hear your first “I love you” from him. You are so, stupidly adorable. He thinks, shaking his head a bit.

Unfortunately, he can’t give you what you want. But maybe he can give you something better. He moves himself so that he’s so, so close to you and his nose is now inches from yours. Still oblivious to his intentions, you pout a bit.

“So are you gonna say it or-” In true, Katsuki fashion, his lips press to yours before you can finish your sentence. You inhale greatly through your nose and your eyes fly open, effectively breaking the one rule Bakugou had set for this whole thing. Your hand cards through his soft, blonde hair and pulls at it a bit. In return, Katsuki cups your cheek sweetly with his hand, rubbing his thumb softly across your smooth skin. It’s languid, the way he kisses you. Like he has all the time in the world with you here, so you just give in and sink into the kiss. You let yourself fall back across the earth while Katsuki slowly falls on top of you, his other hand holding your waist right where, if he moved his fingers a couple of inches to the right, it’d tickle.

It feels so right. Having his lips against yours, his hair in your hands, the both of you sharing each others’ breaths. Finally, he gives you a peck one, two, three times before he pulls back completely.

“That get the message across?” He says, slightly breathless. You can’t help but beam, making the skin on your nose and around your eyes crinkle.

“I dunno, maybe I want to hear it,” you giggle, rolling the both of you so that you are now laying on top of him. You sweep his hair off of his face and place a kiss to the place on his forehead that rarely shows itself. He rolls his eyes playfully and wraps both of his arms around your waist, pulling you flush to him. Bakugou’s nose brushes against your ear.

“I love you, Y/N.” He whispers, gaining a shiver from you. You sigh in content and place a hand lightly atop his chest, playing with the fabric of his soft, cotton shirt.

“And I love you. Now,” you say, grabbing his face with both your hands. “Kiss me.”

Bakugo: Lazy afternoons

“Here drink” Your favorite tumbler with ice cold water was put in front of you. “ I don’t want to hear any excuses.” You smile up at Katsuki making him blush slightly. “Just drink it or whatever.” He turned away from you and went back to playing his game. You loved spending time with Katsuki even if you didn’t always do things together it made you happy to just be around him. Your favorite blanket that he specially bought for you. The soft one that made you feel so warm with out over heating you. He always made sure you were okay while he played games. And it always made you happy to see him so excited to show you his heroic accomplishments.

“ Ha! You see that you losers! No match for me!” He turned around to you and you looked up to see the screen. “ Woah that’s so cool! You have a streak going!” You beamed up at him. He grinned, “Of course! Your boyfriend is the best these extras got nothing on me.” You definitely agreed.

Spending time like this was a favorite of you two. You went back to reading or drawing or whatever you were doing while he played games. Always checking in on each other and surprising each other with small pecks. Spending lazy afternoons together.

Couldn’t Have Asked For More

Pairing: Bakugo Katsuki x Reader

Warnings: Bakugo being a teasing annoying gremlin, profanities, of course

A/N: I’m back, babies! Heheh haven’t written in a while and what better reason to start writing again than our husbando’s birthday, right?

Everyone could agree that what you and Bakugo have is an odd friendship. It was a surprise even to you. You’ve always hated his guts witnessing him harass poor Midoriya but as time passed by, you see the gradual changes in him.

You decided to give him a chance and start seeing past the brash personality and loud mouth. Especially after his abduction, you begin to really see how determined and passionate he actually is in becoming a good hero. He works harder than anybody else, always a straight A student and surprisingly works well with groups and pairs though he denies it himself.

You got paired up with him a couple of times and that’s how you two got to talking. Now there’s a mutual respect and understanding after the countless small talks here and there between you two. You now find his usual outbursts funny and his bickering as his way to tease. In short, you no longer fall for his antics.

This made Bakugo honestly grow fond of you. He’ll never admit it but he’s considering you one of his best friends, alongside Kirishima’s clingy ass.

Bakugo liked that you never took any of his bullshit, that you always stood your ground and try to put him in his place whenever he overstepped boundaries. He’s not sure what it is about you, but he just finds it so damn easy talking to you. Like you two would sit in the kitchen and you say something about the food you’re eating and he’d find himself talking about his favorite dish and how the old hag used to teach him how to cook.

He hates that you make him feel vulnerable at times but then he realizes just how much you trust him too when you’d tell him things that even your close friends don’t know about you. There’s also this mutual need to appear strong in front of everyone, he realizes.

Bakugo will never tell you but he has been thankful of your nonprying nature and how you pretend to not feel pity towards him whenever he’s going through things. He’d smile to himself whenever he will recall the first time you put his head inside your hoodie when you saw how close he was to tearing up after he got back from his kidnapping. The first time you did it, he almost blasted you away out of utter shock and shame that flooded his veins.

Now, whenever he felt like breaking down, he’d burst into your room unannounced then pull you by the front of your hoodie. He’ll sit himself by the foot of your bed and put his own head inside your hoodie, arms snaking around your waist. You’d stand there, petting his head that rests on your chest until the trembling on his shoulders stop or until he’s done ranting which you honestly barely understood since his voice is all muffled.

Bakugo rolls his eyes seeing you tiptoe across the dimly lit common area carrying a huge paper bag. He had been waiting for you all afternoon to share the dish the old hag had brought in earlier today. When Round face made up some excuse about you doing some extra training, he figured you’re probably out getting him something for his upcoming birthday. He knows you too well to know there’s just no way you’d do extra training. Hell, he even has to drag your ass to the gym to get some done during the weekends.

He carefully follows you to the kitchen with the intent to surprise you and spoil your plan but to his shock, when he peeked around the corner, everyone was right there including All Might and Aizawa. They all probably thought he’s already asleep as usual.

“Sorry guys, I had to pick some stuff up.” you say in a quiet voice. “It’s alright, young Y/n. You should have asked us to do some of the things that needed to be done anyway.” All Might says earning nods from the rest of your friends. “Oh it’s okay, All Might. I just want everything to be perfect for tomorrow. I know Katsuki hates surprises and making a big deal out of his birthday so here’s what we’re doing-”

Bakugo swifty turns and makes his way back to his room. Once he’s back on bed, he blinks up at the ceiling as he feels this strange warm feeling spread across his chest. He doesn’t know what you have planned out for his birthday tomorrow but seeing how you’re trying so hard to coordinate everyone, he decided not to be a brat and spoil any of your plans.

The following morning, he finds the stall in the male showers he likes using the most available when usually Kaminari and Kirishima would race him to get to. He cocks a brow looking around the hall. Soon the two morons walk in, he tenses up preparing to argue if needed since he was rightfully there first but they just nod at him before taking the stalls on either side. Bakugo found it weird that they didn’t fight tooth and nail as they usually do.

In school, everything seemed normal and no one tried to get on his nerves. Not fucking Pinky or Dunce Face, not even shitty Deku was breathing a word to annoy him. Even Present Mic and Midnight didn’t pester him with stupid questions in their class.

In hero training class, Shoto volunteered to spar with him and used his flames much to Bakugo’s surprise. It was a gruelling match, nearly having Ground Gamma annihilated since Aizawa and All Might sensei let the two have at it to their hearts content while Cementoss watched anxiously on the side. The only thing that stopped the two is the timer. By the time the buzzer sounds, the two are spent and trembling out of exhaustion but were smirking at each other in recognition of the good fight they just had. The rest of you though could only stare wide eyed at the damages they caused.

Bakugo is in the best mood he’s been in years! You can only grin watching him walk alongside you with a small smile tugging his lips. Around dinner time, it was like a feast but the food mainly consisted of Bakugo’s favorite dishes. Bakugo actually dreaded it because he knew his folks were coming over but to his surprise, they didn’t go to lengths in embarrassing him like they usually did. They stopped by to drop off their gift, ate dinner with the rest of the class and teachers and then left.

The old hag didn’t harass him to blow the candles and have everyone sing him happy birthday while taking stupid photos. She was so calm and all soft smiles, that when they were about to leave, he mutters, “Thanks for coming over.” while giving his mom and dad a hug.

Mitsuki was taken aback at first, the brat hasn’t hugged them in a long while. Her eyes fall close as she pats his back. “Sure thing, son.” Mitsuki murmurs fondly, touching his cheek. Masaru grins widely as he ruffles Katsuki’s hair, delighted that he lets him instead of slapping his hand away.

As Bakugo watches his parents drive away, he shakes his head. Wow, they didn’t even greet me, he thought to himself. It’s not like they forgot, right? They brought him cake and presents?

When he got back to the dorm, the rest of his classmates are spending the rest of the evening like they usually do. His stupid friends were on the couch playing video games, most of the girls chatting in the dining table and the guys were watching some Hero analysis report on TV.

Bakugo blinks and makes a face. He then decided to head upstairs. Maybe this was your plan? Have everyone refrain from bothering him the rest of the day and let him have his way?

He’s got to give it to you, he thoroughly enjoyed it but he’ll be lying if he says he didn’t miss the annoying birthday greetings and being forced to stand there awkwardly as a bunch of shitty extras sing happy birthday.

He shoves his hands in his pocket as he turns around the corner but stops short seeing a pile of presents, balloons and cards by his door.

“Tch. Dumbasses.” he mutters under his breath as he kneels in front of the pile, trying to figure out which is from whom by looking at the packaging. Bakugo didn’t even realize he was smiling to himself as he took everything in his arms. He set it on his study table and was about to sit down and open each one when there was a knock on his door.

The moment the knob turns, you wink at Iida and Shoji who had poppers ready in their hands. Mina stood beside you, holding out a tablet where his parents were on facetime waiting with all of you. Shoto then leans over your shoulder and lights the candles using his quirk.

“Ready, sing!!” you whisper yelled.

Right on cue, the door swings open and you all sing Happy Birthday at the tops of your lungs. Bakugo stood there stunned, cheeks and ears red due to first and secondhand embarrassment. He stares at each one of your overjoyed faces while you sing your hearts and lungs out, feeling some weird tugging and warmth in his chest. When his gaze falls on you, his lips twitch as a small smile resurfaces which he quickly tries to wipe away.

“Happy Birthdaaaay, tooo youuuu!!!” you giggle as you hold out the cake to him which has an orange X in the middle and the lettering Lord Explosion Murder on top. Everyone cheered, blowing on their little party blowers while confetti flew everywhere.

He sighs and eyed everyone, you all stared back at him wide eyed and fearing for your lives. Kirishima winces and meaked, “Oh boy.” Your heart thumped erratically as you all waited in bated breath.

“You fucking nerds, don’t you have anything else better to do with your stupid time?” he says in a dangerously low voice and your face instantly fell. Your classmates were grimacing and giving you comforting taps on your back and shoulder but then he suddenly says,

“Thank you.”

The chorus of soft gasps and heads whipping to look at each other and him in disbelief were so comical, Bakugo burst out laughing.

“D-did you just-?” Kaminari stutters.

“He did.” Jiro nods, wide eyed.

“Bakugo, you said ‘thank you’!” Iida exclaims proudly.

“And he laughed! Kacchan laughed.” Deku says, on the verge of tears already at this point.

You on the other hand were in a complete mess, tears slid past your cheeks out of sheer relief and joy. Bakugo rolls his eyes and pulls you closer by holding your wrists, blowing out the candles finally before the wax drips on the beautiful cake.

“Thank you.” he repeats, this time only for your ears to hear.

Uraraka squealed and nudged Mina happily as they watched Bakugo wipe your tear stained cheeks with his thumb and peered down to meet your gaze.

“Let’s go, everyone!!” Uraraka whisper yelled, pulling as many as she can to leave you both alone. Luckily your classmates caught on pretty easily and followed along with knowing smiles as they sneak away.

Bakugo takes the cake from your hands and places it by the desk beside his door, laughing quietly to himself as he wipes more of the tears that had fallen from your e/c eyes. “Stop crying, dumbass. I’m not mad.” he says, shaking your shoulders.

“Right, sorry.” you sniffle as you meet his gaze. “It’s just, you scared me there for a bit.” you hiccuped.

“Gotcha pretty fuckin’ good, didn’t I?” he teases, ruffling your hair.

That’s only when he realized his classmates behind you had taken off. He frowns and turns his head to the side, catching the lot of them hurriedly scurrying away.

“Oi idiots!! Where are you all going?! I’m not fucking cleaning this mess up!!” he yells to which Kirishima yells back, “Happy Birthday again, dude!!” followed by giggling.

“Idiots.” he mutters. You finally got yourself together at this point and you sigh, smiling up at him. “I got it.” you say,  “I’ll clean it up. Besides, I’m the one who insisted on doing all this.” you laugh, kneeling down to start picking up the colorful bits of paper on the floor. Bakugo on the other hand caught your elbows before your knees hit the floor. “Leave it, come here.” he says quietly, jerking his head towards his room.

It’s ridiculous why this has had your heart hammering. You’ve been in his room a hundred times before, spent countless afternoons here doing homework and even falling asleep on his bed a couple of times. God, you hope he can’t hear how hard and fast your heart is beating right now.

You watch him throw the gifts and cards on the bed then take the cake to place it by his night stand. He digs through the drawer and grinned triumphantly when he found a couple disposable utensils from take outs and deliveries. He holds them up at you but then his brows furrow.

“The fuck are you doing standing there like a moron?? Get over here!” he pulled at your wrist and you plastered on a nervous smile as you joined him on the bed. “Shouldn’t we share the cake with everyone?” You ask as an excuse, taking the fork he holds out.

He takes a forkful and hums in approval. “Sugar freak made this, right?” he asks and you hit his arm. “Stop it with the stupid nicknames!  And excuse you, I made that!! Well, I used Sato’s oven and baking stuff but, it was me! I made that.” Bakugo laughed through his nose as he continually munched on the surprisingly delicious cake. “I made sure it’s not super sweet and unhealthy like you wanted.” you pouted which made him laugh harder.

“It’s alright, I guess.” he said and laughed again when you frowned. “No, I’m fucking with you. I like it.” Bakugo nods to himself as he takes another mouthful. “I really do.”

“Didn’t you just say you made it for me?” he asks and you nod. “Then why the fuck should I share it with everyone else?” he cocks a brow at you. You rolled your eyes and snatched the fork from his hand, taking a bite too. “Hey!!” he shouts but lets you have a piece anyway, smiling to himself.

You sigh as you stick the fork back into the cake and fall back on his bed, feeling exhaustion finally hit you. Bakugo sets the cake aside and steals a glance at you as he rummages through the birthday cards and presents.

“Can you not read my card and open my gift while I’m still here?” you ask, turning to look up at him.  He narrowed his eyes and thought it over.

“No.” he says flatly, making you groan and throw your hands over your face muttering, “I should have known.”

You hear him snicker and say, “There it is.” Followed by the rustling of the envelope and flipping of the card open. You didn’t say much in the card. It was just about how you’ll always have is back yada yada and that you have and will always believe in him around an illustrated card with the words saying “You’re the Bomb!” in the middle.

You peek, drawing your fingers apart so you can steal a glance and find him uncharacteristically quiet, his face not betraying any emotion. Your face heats up in embarrassment and you groan, sitting back up, “This is why I didn’t want you seeing it while I’m still here. I know it sucks and-”

When Bakugo suddenly pulls you into a hug, you stop breathing altogether. His arms go around your waist and he buries his face on the crook of your neck.

“Today was amazing and I know it’s all because of you, dumbass.” he says and you feel his lips against your skin with every word. You gingerly placed your hands on the blades of his shoulders, patting awkwardly. “I-It’s nothing. I just really wanted you to enjoy your day.” you murmur nervously. “Y-you can let go now, Bakugo.” you force out a laugh.

Bakugo sighs contentedly and pulls you even tighter. “I don’t think I want to.” he admits, making you blush furiously. Your eyes darted everywhere around the room except at the boy latching on to you. You squealed when he suddenly leaned forward giving you all his weight as he pushed you down on the bed. You feel him tremble as he chuckles on top of you, burying his face on your hair.

 "Bakugo stop messing around. You’re making things so awkward!“ your face crumples as you hit his back to urge him to get up and let you go. "Why is this awkward, dumbass?” he argues, laughter still lingering in his voice as he pulls away just enough to meet your gaze. “I don’t feel awkward, why do you??”

“Because!” you yell, turning your head away when you realize just how close his face is. “Because what??” he asks back playfully, leaning even closer. You swear if you turn to look at him, you’ll end up kissing the idiot. You tried to get him off of you, even debated on using your quirk against him. You groan and hit his back again repeatedly. “Because we’re friends!”

Bakugo can see you’re completely flustered and he just loves it. He gave you a shiteating grin when you still refused to look at him. “Yeah, so??” he continued to tease, his lips a hair away from your cheek.

You placed your hands on his chest and pushed off but to no avail. The fucker is crazy strong and is like a hundred percent solid muscle. “Friends don’t hold each other like this, baka!” you scold as you let your hands pull at his hair.

“Ow, stop!!” he glared down at you and you glared back up at him. After a while, his gaze softens and he says, “Well then, I don’t want to be friends with you anymore.”

You look up at him with confusion evident in your face. “What?” you asked, your heart faltering as you searched his eyes.

Bakugo swallows hard, feeling his heart leap at his throat. “I don’t want to be friends with you anymore.” he repeats, a little softer this time. “Not when I want to fucking touch you every damn second and wonder how your lips would taste in fucking ungodly hours.”

“Do you have any idea how many times I thought about kissing you during training in front of those shitty extras?? In front of freakin’ Aizawa and All Might??” he asks rhetorically. “Too goddamned many!"

You can barely hear him at how hard your pulse is ringing in your ears right now. Your mind is in chaos at the realization that he wants you just as much as you wanted him.

"Y-you like me?” you ask anyway just to make sure you weren’t dreaming all this.

Bakugo shakes his head, laughing wryly. “Like?” he asks back mockingly. “You really are a dumbass, aren’t you?” His gaze was soft though, warm with fondness that makes your bone feel like jello.

“I’m fucking head over heels for you, Y/n.” Bakugo says, his hand going to the sides of your face, staring through your soul. You couldn’t speak for a while and your silence started to make him feel nervous.

But then, your expression softens too as you take a deep breath. “I.. I’m crazy about you too, Bakugo Katsuki.” you finally admit after years of denying it to yourself. Bakugo lets out the most beautiful smile you’ve ever seen that your breath hitches. You could not help but admire how gorgeous this annoying, short-tempered boy is.

“Yeah?” he challenges, leaning in dangerously close, tips of your noses touching. “Prove it.”

You mirror his smile and slide your hands down to cup his surprisingly soft cheeks. You eye him for a second which felt like an eternity for him before you lean up to finally close what little distance there was left between your mouths.

The kiss was everything Bakugo could have imagined and more. Your lips were as soft and sweet as the cake you just made for him, and the way you held him so delicately like he’s some fragile thing made his heart soar. All he could think of right now is how he would gladly spend all of his birthdays just like this, you in his arms, your lips in perfect sync with his.

This by far, he realizes, is his best birthday ever.

He truly could not have asked for more.

You weren’t quite sure when it started… or why. It was your hyper-awareness for the one and only Bakugou Katsuki. He was, at first glance, just an overconfident jerk who couldn’t control his temper. But, that wasn’t truly him. Or at least you thought so.

He was kind. Not in the conventional kind of way— nothing about him was conventional. But you watched as he would leave a cup of coffee in the morning for Kaminari, claiming he had made too much. Or how he would place a blanket over Mina when she fell asleep in the common room. Or how he would stay up late just to play video games with Kirishima and Sero, even though he just complained the whole time.

Each little action just proved to you that he was different from what others thought.

Not only was he kind, but he was funny. You loved the little nicknames he gave everyone, laughing every time they came from his mouth. You never interacted with Bakugou, so sadly you didn’t have one. You often wondered what it would be.

And don’t forget that he was attractive! You couldn’t understand how people forgot this little fact. Yes he had a temper, but goddamn was he was fine. His soft blond spikes, his volcanic red eyes, and his taunt yet lean muscles. Everything just screamed ‘Greek God’ right at you.

Still, you knew he would never really see you. You might as well as have Hagakure’s quirk. You were quiet, always keeping to yourself. Quite like Todoroki, in a way. Although you smiled more, always trying to make each class member feel worthy of themselves. Some called you the “class therapist” which you thought was hilarious. It was derived from the fact that you always listened to what your comrades had to say, letting them rant about their problems and often giving reassuring advice.

“Stop! You’re going to make me have to have a therapy session with (Y/L/N)-chan.” Kaminari pouted from across the common room. You were observing Bakugou, as usual, hiding behind a thick book and a wool blanket on the couch. You knew that it would probably be seen as creepy, but you didn’t think it was like that. It was kind of like reading a book, how you spectate over the character and the story, becoming apart of the adventure— whether you were in the book or not.

Your head popped up at the mention at your name, having spaced out. It was a bad habit of your’s.

“Who the fuck is that?” Bakugou yelled, smacking the back of the electric boy’s head. A small huff of amusement escaped you. You knew he didn’t see you.

“Dude! She’s right there.” Kaminari hissed, digging an elbow into Bakugou’s side. Vermillion eyes darted to yours, and your heart skipped a beat. A soft smile adorned your face as you gave him a gentle wave. A small blush brushed over your cheekbones, not liking being the center of attention. You glanced back down at your book, curling your fingers tightly around the edges.

“See! She’s cute, right?” Denki shouted excitedly, quickly followed by an ‘oof’ noise. You assumed that he got punched.

~~~~
You pulled your hand back under the roof, pouting lightly. It was raining… and it didn’t seem that it was going to stop very soon.
It was the end of the school day and class had ended a couple of hours ago. You were scouring the library shelves for a new book, staying longer that you intended. And now you were stuck here, unless you wanted to get soaked getting to the dorms.
You decided to walk around a bit, exploring the empty halls of the school. Wandering aimlessly, you had found that the school had a swimming pool, an anime club, and even an indoor tennis court. You peered out the window and huffed. It was still pouring.
Sighing, you peeked your head into another door, looking for a nice place to curl up and read your newest book. Your breath caught in your throat as your froze in the frame of the double doors. A massive gym greeted you, as well as one completely unaware Bakugou Katsuki.
The explosive blond was going to town on a worn punching bag, drops of sweat rolling down his tanned neck. You watched in some sort of flustered awe as the muscles of his arms tensed and contracted while his eyebrows furrowed in determination. This boy was truly gorgeous.
Not wanting to be caught, you slowly took a step back, yet squeaked as your hip bumped the frame of the door. As if that wasn’t enough, two of the theee book you had clutched to your chest slipped from your grasp, thudding loudly against the floor.
You dropped to your knees immediately— hoping, praying that by some miracle Bakugou hadn’t heard you. Maybe his music was loud enough…
“What the fuck are you doing here?” A sudden shout rang out, causing your head to snap up.
“Oh… hi, Bakugou-kun.” You stated shyly from your spot on the floor. You refused to look at him, keeping your eyes solely on the books you had just gathered. Bakugou fell silent, and you used that opportunity to get back to your feet.
You glanced back up to him, a light blush on your face. You weren’t the only one. Bakugou’s face had a slight flush— his hand gripping the fabric of his shirt tightly, right over his chest.
“Um, I’m sorry— I didn’t mean to bother you. I was, uh, just wandering around, because— you know, the rain, and….” You rambled on, gesturing softly towards the windows. A grunt of understanding interrupted you, making you look back at the blond. The blond that you had a crush on.
“You don’t have an umbrella.” Bakugou stated, staring out towards the pouring rain. He ran a hand through his hair roughly, turning away to hide the heat in his cheeks.
You watched in confusion as Bakugou ruffled though a plain black duffel bag.
“Catch.”
You yelped as you shot a hand towards the flying object, hoping not to drop it.
It was a little red umbrella. Your heart skipped a beat.
“But what about you?” You looked up in concern, keeping eye contact for the first time since your meeting. You didn’t want Bakugou to be out in the rain, especially if he could catch a cold.
“I’ll be fine.” He answered gruffly, placing his earbuds back where they belong. You sighed, knowing that it wasn’t up for debate.
“Thank you.” You whispered with a red face and a pounding heart, even though you knew he wouldn’t hear you.
~~~

Something felt off.

Since the moment you stepped into that classroom, it felt like you were being watched. It wasn’t uncomfortable— or anything like that… just… off. You shrugged it off as you just being crazy.

You had left the umbrella at Bakugou’s door last night, as well as a little ‘thank you’ note. You hoped the hearts weren’t too much.

Pulling a book out on your desk, you jumped into your latest story. It was about a prince of magic, lost in a pre-quirk Earth. The prince had just landed when a small nudge to your shoulder startled you.

Your eyes were quick to find Yaoyorozu and Hagakure in front of you, small giggles errupting from the latter.

“Oh, hello girls!” You smiled, not at all displeased from being pulled from your book. You brushed a lock of your hair behind your ear, curious of the sudden interruption.

“Don’t look now, (Y/L/N)-chan, but—”

“Bakugou has been staring at you for the past ten minutes!” Hagakure squealed, interupping Yaoyorozu.

“I just wanted to warn you, in case you did something to make him mad—”

“Momo-Chan! Are you blind? Those are eyes of love!” Hagakure sang. You watched in confusion as the two continued to argue, wondering what in the world they were talking about.

Your eyes drifted over to the said blond, freezing as a vermillion stare immediately pinned you down. The girls were correct— you were being stared at. Bakugou’s eyes were shamelessly boring into your’s, making a deep flush crawl up your neck. He didn’t look angry perhaps— but confused, calculating. What threw you off, however, was the light blush kissing the top of his tanned cheeks.

Your eyes immediately flashed back down to your book, heart beating a million miles per minute. What was going on? Oh, how you wished your quirk was telepathy.

“I’m telling you! It’s looooovvve!”

~~~
A light breeze ruffled your jacket, making you pull it closer to your body. It was a Saturday evening, and you were just grateful for the break in training. Aizawa-sensei had been tougher than usual, and you were sure your muscles were about to give out.
You decided that a light walk around the town would be nice, reveling in the perfectly cool weather. A slight rumble emitted from your stomach, making you let out a small laugh. A small stop wouldn’t hurt.
Aoki’s. You heard of that place! It was Bakugou’s favorite place to get spicy curry. You distinctly remember, because it was one of your first times truly seeing him. Your only thought at the time was ‘of course Bakugou likes spicy food.’
Still, your mind had cataloged that moment, and here you were walking straight up to the counter.
Walking out with two spicy curries in hand (one with extra peppers), your brain hit a snag. You had ordered Bakugou some without even thinking about it. How would you give it to him? You weren’t even considered friends. What if he already ate? Would he think you were stalking him?
These meddling thoughts brought you all the way back to the dorm, still devoid of any solution. It’s not like you never surprised your friends with little gifts. Just last week you had given Midoriya a little All Might keychain. But this was different. Bakugou was your crush. Plus, you only spoke to him once!
At this point, you were thinking of just throwing the extra box in the fridge, maybe put a note with his name on it. Sighing, you opened the door, a sour expression on your face. It sucked having social anxiety.
“Hey, (Y/L/N)-chan!”
You yelped at the sudden greeting, confronted with a cheeky Ashido.
“Oh, hello.” You smiled, a bit surprised.
“Whatcha doing?” Mina questioned, dragging you in by your free arm. You yelped at the sudden tug, being pulled all the way over to the pair of couches in the common room.
“Ah, well— nothing important. Do you need anything, Ashido-chan?” You stuttered as you were dragged along. Mina had always been a bit…. enthusiastic, but you didn’t mind.
“Well, we were wondering—” Mina gestured over to the seats, and that’s when you took notice of your classmates. “—if you’ll hang out with us?”
The Bakusquad were all spread out, snack and sodas littered amongst the floor. You heart skipped a beat as you caught sight of the object of your affections grumbling angrliy to Kaminari.
“I’d—”
“Can’t your raccoon eyes see that she was going to eat?” Bakugou suddenly cut you off, glaring hastily at the girl beside you. You watched in confusion as Kirishima and Sero shared knowing looks.
“Ah, it’s okay, Bakugou-kun! Well… I— mean, unless you don’t want me to, then I—”
“OI, WHEN THE FUCK DID I SAY THAT?” The blond sneered, avoiding eye contact with you. You looked down at your shoes, a small smile engraved on your lips. He was such a tsundere.
“Oooo, (Y/N)-chan! Is that two takeout boxes? You don’t have a secret boyfriend, do you?” Sero drew out mischievously. You watched in confusion as Bakugou suddenly tensed.
“Wha— no I don’t!” You vigorously denied, a deep blush on your face.
“Oh, she so does!” Kaminari yelled, throwing an elbow into Bakugou’s side. “Who is it? Tokoyami? Ojiro?”
“Oh, maybe Todoroki?” Mina chimed in. You sputtered noncoherently, desperately trying to clear up the misunderstanding. One, it was embarrassing. Two, you didn’t see your classmates (besides Bakugou) that way. Three, you didn’t want your crush to be thinking that you already had a significant other.
“Hey guys, I don’t think it’s very manly to—”
“Midoriya?” Sero yelled, adding to the chaos. You were feverently throwing your hands around, desperately trying to get them to stop. Also, you didn’t think Bakugou liked how loud they were being, judging by the silent, murderous glare.
“Ah shit, it must a girlfriend then!” Kaminari exclaimed, eliciting a laugh from the other three of the squad.
“No! It’s for Bakugou!” You suddenly exclaimed, tired of their teasing. The room immediately went silent as your word vomit sunk in. Crap.
If your face wasn’t on fire before… it was now.
“…What?”
The question came from the blond himself, his eyebrows up to his hairline. You shyly pulled the box marked ‘extra peppers’ out, sliding it gently across the coffee table.
“I, uh, saw Aoki’s, and I know it’s your favorite, and spicy curry is your favorite— always with extra peppers— with a side of rice,” You were talking and you couldn’t stop. Everything you said just stared to sound worse and worse— plainly laying your infactuation out in the open for all to see. “So, I got you some— but you don’t have to eat it! I should have asked— sorry.”
You reached to grab the box back, but it was snatched away before you could. Your eyes immediately flashed up to vermillion ones, surprised when you noted the flush along Bakugou’s tanned skin.
“Did I say I didn’t want it?” He scoffed, face a dark red.
“No.” You said softly, looking down at your fumbling fingers.
“Then I’ll take it!”
~~~

It’s been about a week since the little curry inscident, but no one said anything. You were suddenly so glad for your smart, yet extremely dense classmates. Or well, you hoped so. Everyday, scarlet eyes bore holes into your back… and everyday, your heart would beat a little faster.

Not only that, but the Bakusquad hung around you a lot more than usual. You were friends with about everyone in the class, but you weren’t really close with that friend group. For some ever reason, they decided to change that.

You walked down the halls, bag clutched in hand. Mina had told you that Kirishima had wanted to talk to you in the classroom. You weren’t sure what for, but you’d always listen if someone needed an ear. Her and Sero’s mischievous giggles were a little off putting, to be honest.

“Come on, dude! Just admit it! You are so whipped!” You heard a familiar cheery voice yell.

“Yeah, man! Confessing would be so manly! I can see it now.” Another person said, followed by a dramatic sniffle. You were hella confused now. Mina said Kirishima needed to talk to you? And now there was Kirishima, Kaminari, and another person.

“FUCK NO!” Oh, so the other person was Bakugou.

Wait… was Bakugou going to confess to someone?

You felt your heart immediately shatter, pulling your bag up to your chest. So he did have someone he liked. You could only bet how amazing they were. They would have to be the best. As soon as your crush had developed, you knew that your heart would end up in two. This was Bakugou you’re talking about. He was only focused on being number one. And if there was an off chance he developed a crush, it would have to be someone absolutely incredible.

Someone who wasn’t you.

Still, you forced a smile. You weren’t going to hold him back. You never would.

“Come on, man! I’m tired of see you googling (Y/L/N)-chan and grumbling about her all the time. Just ask her out already!”

You froze. The person Bakugou liked… was you?

Your face suddenly lit up, your heart beating faster than it ever had before.

Bakugou liked you.

Bakugoulikedyou.

Bakugou liked you.

Your face was million different shades of red, your fingers curled tight around your bag. What do you say? What do you do? Do you just… walk in there? Confess?

“SHUT UP, DUNCE-FACE! Even if I did confess— WHICH I WON’T, she wouldn’t even like me anyways….. she is her, and I’m, well, me.” Bakugou trailed off. Your heart broke. Never once had you ever heard Bakugou sound so… defeated. He sounded so unsure of himself. You hated it.

“Aw man, don’t be like that. We’re sure (Y/L/N)-chan likes you.” Kirishima said soothingly. You heard Bakugou scoff.

“Ah, the beast fell in love with the beauty. Poor (Y/L/N).” You heard Kaminari say, followed by a loud smack. “Dude! That hurt!”

You couldn’t help the small giggle that erupted from your lips. You loved your friends and their crazy antics.

Crap.

The three within the classroom went silent, having definitely heard your giggle. You yelped as the door was suddenly pulled open to reveal a smirking Kirishima, a smug-looking Kaminari, and an absolutely furious Bakugou Katsuki.

Your face burned at the sudden reveal, but you gave a gentle wave anyway.

“Well, we’re just gonna head out…” Kaminari trailed off, giving you a wink as he squeezed past you. Kirishima followed him, flashing you a blinding smile and a thumbs up. This left you all alone… with your crush… that likes you back.

“Hello, Bakugou-kun.” You mumbled shyly, eyes locked on his. His entire face was red and he kept clenching his fists over and over again. He was no doubt planning the murders of his friends for their little set-up.

“How long… How long were you just fucking standing there?” Bakugou snarled, doing everything to avoid eye-contact. Of course he had chosen to become angry. It was easier for him, than the molten embarrassment— that was no doubt bubbling in his chest.

You pulled at the strings of your bag, suddenly feeling embarrassed for him. “Um… since you started talking about your crush.”

“Of fucking course.” He growled, running a shaky hand threw his hair. “Of fucking course you heard it all… Look, just forget that shit, okay? I won’t be fucking weird or anything to you.”

You frowned and put your bag down, slowly walking up to him. He had his eyes on the floor, not seeing you approach.

“Hey…” You mumbled as you placed gentle hands on his cheeks. He jumped at the sudden sensation, his vermillion eyes darting to yours.

“Wha—”

“I like you, Bakugou. A lot. I have for awhile now.” You weren’t exactly sure why, but you felt confident. Maybe because you knew he liked you back, or maybe it was because he just seemed so shy in the moment. Whatever it was, you were grateful for it.

“You… you like me?” A small smile bloomed on the boy’s face, and your heart stuttered. You had never seen such a look on Bakugou’s face. It was gorgeous. “You like me!” He laughed.

Muscled arms suddenly wrapped around your waist, picking you up. You yelped at the suddenly lift, but it soon turned into a large laugh. Bakugou began spinning you around, a large crooked smile on his face.

“She fucking likes me!” He kept chanting as he twirled you around. You placed your hands lightly on the nape of his neck, smiling as you looked down at his face. Bakugou slowed to a stop, and gently lowered you back to the ground.

“You like me.” He grinned, all toothy and crooked. It was perfect.

“Yeah, I do.” You smiled, hands unmoving from his neck. Bakugou placed large hands on your waist, making sure to hold you flush against his chest.

“Of course you fucking do, I’m amazing.” He snorted.

You laughed at the sudden change of tone, looking deep into his entrancing, vermillion eyes. You gently curled your fingers into the soft blond at the nape of his neck, smiling brightly.

You liked Bakugou, and he liked you.

Suddenly, you were so glad to have noticed him.

As good vibrations washed over Minori’s inner storm like a soothing onshore breeze, happiness blossomed over her soul. She’s been working diligently on perfecting her Quirk and the impending doom of her mother’s re-debut since being threatened and confronted back in the mall. However, somehow along the way, the tenseness of her joints eased and relaxed as she welcomed a positive future in U.A.

“Minori~!” Denki greeted the curly-haired girl as soon as she entered class 1-A. His honey-glazed eyes widened as he pouted, resembling a whiny puppy.

“Yes?”

“Please defend me! Those jerks keep calling me an idiot!” He whines, pointing toward the two perpetrators, boredly watching their friend, a Pikachu cosplayer throw a petty and dramatic scene.

When Minori turned to face Mina, the pinkette shrugged and muttered, “I said what I said.”

Minori patted Denki on the back with a giggle. “Don’t worry, you’re not a complete idiot.”

Suddenly, the blonde sprang to his feet with confidence that seemingly came out of nowhere. He grins and says, “You think so? Well, I think you’re quite clever.” Denki raises his eyebrows at Minori and leans an arm on the wall next to him. “Let me take you on a date sometime.”

However, before she could reject his sudden offer, Bakugo’s chair screeched against the floor as he stomped over to where the two stood. Man-handling the collar of Denki’s uniform, Bakugo forces his flirtatious friend into a seat. “Sit the fuck down, dumbass,” he gritted.

Without sparing a moment of attention to the duo, Minori made her way to Mina’s seat before class started. “OMG, Minori! Your necklace, it’s so cute.”

“Oh.” Looking down at her exposed necklace, Minori hurriedly tried to hide the jewel inside of her shirt. Jewelry was against the U.A. dress code, and the last thing she wanted to do was keep such a wonderful gift encased in a box. “Thank you, Katsuki gave it to me,” Minori bashfully added, glancing at her boyfriend, who now sat back in his seat.

“What?!” Denki gasps theatrically. “Did he get that for you?” he asks, perplexed.

Bakugo gruffly answered, “Yes.” Then, with his eyes squinted, he asks, “Why are you so surprised?”

“No, because there’s no way you would’ve gotten her something nice for no reason,” Denki concludes, scratching his chin as he rattles off reasons why Bakugo would partake in a kind gesture. “You owe her, don’t you? Or she saw something embarrassing, and that necklace is hush money. WAIT! It’s because she knows your secret, huh?”

With wide sparkling eyes, Denki stares at Bakugo, trying to decipher his reaction. Other than the male’s typical menacing aura, Bakugo simply glared. Even so, Denki leaned back in his seat with confidence as he threw his arms at the back of his head. “I knew it. Mina must’ve told her. See? And you two called me dumb. Minori, don’t worry, I’ll buy you something way nicer and meaningful.”

“What?” Minori squints in confusion. “Denki, you’ve got it all wrong.”

“I don’t need you to get anything for MY girlfriend! Fuck off!” Bakugo barks, gathering the attention of the entire class’s attention. While Mina and Kirishima didn’t blink an eye, Minori was transfixed by the unwanted staring eyes of 20 individuals who stared on like deers in headlights.

Uraraka was the first to recover from the shocking news. “You two finally made it official?” But before either could answer, Denki interrupts.

“Finally? I thought you two had been dating this whole time,” he says, eyebrows furrowed.

“Wait, even though you thought we were dating, you still thought flirting with her was a good idea?” Bakugo growled, hands sparking.

Denki stood still like scared prey, standing only a couple of feet away from a wild beast. “No,” he lied, blinking carefully before gazing over at Minori, who just lifted her brows in his direction. “Respectfully, though.” But, before things could get out of hand, Aizawa appeared, dragging himself from his yellow sleeping bag and into class.

***

Hours passed without notice, and it looked as if Tatsumaki was slowly but steadily fading from Minori’s mind. Minori no longer trains in fear of her mother but rather to get closer to her goal of being a hero whom people can rely on, someone that the underappreciated can look up to.

Admittedly, recently Minori hasn’t been able to sleep as soundly as she used to. In fact, there’s a heaviness on her shoulders that she simply cannot explain. Every night, she laid awake staring at the ceiling of her bedroom, heart pounding beneath her ribcage with nerves. A knot sat at the pit of her stomach, unyielding, inexplicable.

Mina and Bakugo immediately picked up on Minori’s unusual change in behavior. She tried her hardest to assuage their fears by explaining that she was fine because, sincerely, there wasn’t anything that had been bothering her. But, nevertheless, the two didn’t believe her and forced her to spew out what was going on.

After their conversation, Bakugo and Minori settled into a routine. Every night, the two would cuddle in the common area while watching a movie until Minori fell into a peaceful deep slumber before Bakugo would drop her off in bed. However, tonight was different.

“Are you okay? What’s the matter?” Bakugo repeats, but Minori could only stare back at him. Raising herself in a seated position, she drops her head into her hands. As she recollected the day, she couldn’t remember anything that would trigger her to jolt awake. Was she even dreaming? She doesn’t know.

Minori finally muttered, “I don’t know. I don’t even remember what I was dreaming about.”

Baugo caressed her back gently, easing her ragged breathing. “Is it about your mom?”

“I–” removing her hands from her face, she looks at him, face scrunching. “I don’t know, maybe I’m anxious? I haven’t thought about her for so long now. It just doesn’t make sense.”

“All right, don’t think about it too much. Come on.” Bakugo, after assisting Minori to her feet, leads her to the kitchen and hands her a glass of milk without saying anything further. Bakugo had been going to bed later than normal since the two had begun their habit in the common room. Minori can easily see the little bags beneath his eyes, despite his best efforts to mask his sluggishness.

Her heart soars at his generosity. Bakugo has become a sort of anchor for Minori, like a calmness to soothe the raging flames of a consuming inferno into a steady heat that has raged within; nothing would be able to express how grateful she is to be with someone like him.

“Since you’re already awake and you’re not going to go to bed anytime soon, do you want to take a walk.”

She promptly shakes her head. “It’s alright, it’s way too late, and you should go to bed soon–”

“–shut up. Don’t worry about me. I can go to sleep whenever I want to. On the other hand, you can’t. I’m not asking this time; let’s go.” Pulling her along, Minori followed Bakugo out to the courtyard for a late-night stroll.

There was no need for either of them to speak. The comfortable silence allowed Minori the chance to clear her head and calm her nerves. There was nothing that logically made sense why she had been feeling like this for the past couple of weeks.

“Hey, guys!”

Pausing, Minori blinked in surprise. She hadn’t considered the possibility that someone else would be up at this hour. When they face the one who called out to them, they’re met with no one else but the imperceptible girl, Hagakure Toru.

“I was just thinking about you, Minori; do you mind if we talk?”

Suddenly, the knots within Minori’s stomach worsens as she clutches onto Bakugo’s hand.

“Now’s not a good time,” he says, taking a step in the opposite direction of the invisible girl, but Minori stops him.

“No, it’s fine,” she insists, trying to mask her discomfort with an aloof expression. “What’d you want to talk about?”

“Oh, I was hoping we could talk in private–”

“No,” Bakugo growls.

“Okay,” she drawls. “I always wanted to ask you this, but why were you so forgiving after the Sports Festival?”

Minori thought back to their fight when Hagakure damn near tried to kill her. At the time, Minori believed that this was something she deserved, something inevitable against those who blamed her. Yet, now she has a whole new perspective. “I thought being as nonconfrontational as possible would be the best solution since everyone had a vendetta against me. If I lied low with my head down, then the pain of everyone’s scrutiny would be easier to bear. The sins of the Hecate tragedy would be easier for everyone, but I was wrong. I’ve finally met people that I care about and who care about me, and they were able to show me that.” Glancing at Bakugo, she catches his crimson eyes staring back with admiration and pride, bringing a slight smile to her face.

Continuing, she says, “It’s disappointing if I’m honest, how long it took for me to realize that everyone who blamed and who still blames me is ignorant. The blood of those who’ve lost their lives does not belong to me. I don’t deserve their hatred. At the time, I believed your hatred was valid, it was the least I could do for your loss, but I’m not like that anymore. What you did– how you treated me was wrong.” Minori seemed to be able to stand a little straighter as she finished.

Toru laughed, which surprised Minori because she anticipated their talk to end there. It wasn’t, though, her usual sweet laughter. Instead, it was malicious, foul, and condescending. “You know, after the sports festival, I truly thought I messed up. I’d gone too far and was doomed.”

“Fail? What the fuck are you talking about?” Bakugo demanded with narrowed eyes, pulling Minori close to him as he stood in front of her.

The invisible girl continued speaking instead of addressing his question, leaving the two befuddled. “It was just too easy. Everyone already hated you, and all I had to do was create some stupid ass sob story as an excuse.”

“The fuck?” Bakugo roared, grabbing onto the collar of Hagakure’s shirt and slamming her against the closest tree. “So, what? You decided to try, and fucking kill her because you thought you could, you stupid bitch?!”

Bored, Toru sighed, “No. That wasn’t part of the plan; if you actually listened, you would understand.”

“What are you talking about, Hagakure?” Minori inquired, her hands trembling. Everything was occurring too fast for Minori to understand mentally, but it appeared that the nerves in her body knew what her brain neurons couldn’t.

“Watch and see,” she sneered. Immediately a portal opened with familiar colors outlined in blue and purple, and at that moment, Minori’s heart plummeted to her feet as dread clouded her judgment.

Suddenly, Bakugo was pushed into the opening; his crimson orbs widened as Minori dashed forward to grab him.

“Katsuki!”

Stepping out from the elevator, the content duo freeze upon seeing a surprise guest waiting. Mina stood outside the elevator doors, a knowing smirk on her face. Minori’s eyebrows shot up in surprise as she pondered how her best friend had gotten to the fourth floor before them.

“I wanted to check on you two, but since you two were in your own little worlds, I decided to run up the stairs,” Mina said, answering the silent question as her smirk slowly transforms into a cheshire cat smile, locking onto the two closeness. “But it appears that you two are just fine,” she sings. Flickering her amber eyes to meet Bakugo’s, she asks the male, “finally made a move, huh?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Bakugo growled, tightening his grip on Minori’s hand as his softened eyes tensed and glowed with frustration when the pinkette looked at their interlocked hands. “Fuck off,” he spits, dragging Minori along with him to avoid the girl’s curious taunts.

Mina gasps sarcastically. “Inviting her to your already, Bakugo? I think you’re moving a bit too fast now.”

Bakugo snatched his hand away from Minori’s before jumping 10 feet away, a burning pink spreading across his ears as he felt a mixture of embarrassment and annoyance. His typical scowl morphed into a frown as his lips slightly jutted outwards, flipping the pink girl off.

Unperturbed by the banter, Minori giggled as a smile caressed her lips. As she watched the two, her body filled with warmth like the blooming of flowers on a spring day. She reflected on her first day at U.A., never expecting to make such wonderful friends or share feelings for someone. She assumed that she would spend the rest of her days in eternal darkness, without a glimmer of hope or happiness. Yet, she stands, endearingly watching those who have transformed her endless abyss of darkness into bright lights of the sun. She feels happy as their gentle rays slowly but steadily touch the chains of her heart, eventually melting away the rusted lock.

“Minori.” As Bakugo called out to her, she blinks away from her reverie and focuses her attention on the male. “Goodnight,” he says softly, his brows smoothing as he looks into her eyes.

“G’night,” she responds bashfully smiling. Mina, who was joyfully watching the two, was visibly moved by their touching exchange. Mina, as previously stated, is one of the most ardent supporters of Minori and Bakugo’s relationship, but the girl has a knack for ruining the mood.The moment the pinkette squealed at the affection, Minori quickly turned the other way to her room as Bakugo forcefully tried to slam his door shut before Mina squeezed her way through, yelling that she had some things to talk about.

Minori awoke the next morning to a deafening knock on her door. She sluggishly pulls herself out of bed and opens the door, covering her mouth with a hand as she yawns out Bakugo’s name, questioningly.

Said male strode into her room as if he owned it, both hands shoved into his pockets before settling into her desk chair. “Your friend has been over my shoulder since last night,” he exasperatedly sighed, languidly watching as Minori rubbed her eyes to wake up. As he gives her a once-over, the corner of his lips pulls upwards into a smirk and says, "you look like a hot mess.”

She stared into his annoyingly handsome face with a deadpan expression. “I just woke up, asshat.”

“Wake up better next time,” he counters, leaning back into the seat.

“What?” she asks in disbelief.

He shrugs, dismissing the subject before suddenly standing up. “Be ready for 6pm.”

“Okay, are we training late today.”

“No, we’re going out.”

“Oh, okay. Where?”

Bakugo closes the gap between them, chuckling under his breath, and quickly pecks her on the forehead. “No, dumbass, we’re going on a date, so be ready for six,” he says as he reaches for the bedroom door to exit.

Minori nods, too embarrassed to say anything in response to the sudden surprise of affection, only smiling to herself when she notices the sudden color washing over the tip of his ears.

As he opens the door, Bakugo scowls at the girl standing in front of him. Stomping away, Bakugo pushes past the person. Without a care, Mina struts into the room, an ecstatic smile elating her face. “Did I just hear a date?”

Furrowing her brows, Minori asked, “how did you–”

“–Don’t worry about it. Are you excited?” Mina interrupted, pulling Minori to sit with her on the bed.

“Yes,” she responded without hesitation. Surprisingly, there wasn’t an ounce of nerves coursing through her veins. A date with Bakugo just felt right, as if it were something natural. “But I still can’t wrap my head around how he’d want to be with someone like me,” Minori confesses.

“What are you talking about? Of course he’d want to be with you!”

Minori shrugs. “I mean, I’m still the daughter of Tatsumaki.”

“So?” Mina inquired rhetorically. “We don’t care. Bakugo doesn’t care, and he never has. There’s nothing you need to worry about.” She waves dismissively before smirking. Minori watched closely as the sclera of her eyes twinkled with mischief. “Would you like to know what kind of blackmail I have on your boyfriend?”

Minori’s eyes widened as she gasped. “You’re finally going to tell me?”

“I think it’s about time for you to know. Besides, what’s he going to do? You two are dating now and it’ll help you feel better. So, okay. Do you remember after you and Bakugo were taken by the League of Villains you were going through a tough period and felt like you had to deal with it on your own?” Mina clasped her hands together as she collected her thoughts.

Minori cringed within herself as she remembered such an occurrence. Not only was that a terrible time for her, but she also felt awful for pushing everyone aside. “Yeah, I’m really sorry about that.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Mina reassured. “It’s completely understandable. Anyway, when I went to help you unpack that night, Bakugo was outside your door mumbling something under his breath. His hand was on you door, but he didn’t make a move to knock or open it.”

“Really?”

“Yes! So, of course, I confronted him about it because he was in my way and I had come to check on you in the first place. I asked if he was waiting you, and he said, ‘No, why the fuck would you ask me that?’ You already know how he is.” Minori nodded, patiently awaiting her friend’s next words. “And I told him I saw him trying to knock on your door, and his dumbass really tried to deceive me by saying ‘I was walking to my room!’”

“No way!” Minori giggled as her shoulders shook.

“I’m being serious! But you know me, I wasn’t going to let him go that easily, so I told him, ‘You’re literally on the other side of the hallway.’ And you already know that when he is embarrassed, he lashes out and turns red. I shrugged and just walked into your room, leaving him out there, like the big baller I am.”

“But wait, there’s more. He was still waiting when I left your room, leaning against the wall opposite your room door. He desperately wanted to check in on you but couldn’t hype himself up enough to actually do it. So, as the wonderful friend that I am, I persuaded him to come in and talk to you since you two went through such a traumatic event together, and it only makes sense for you to talk to him about it.

“So, that’s what you had on him?”

“Yup! Just him being a big ol softy.”

Minori’s lips twitched in response to Bakugo’s actions. Her heart felt like it was beating a bit faster as she was even more excited to spend time with him later today.

As hours ticked by agonizingly slow, Minori finally heard a knock come from her door. Quickly standing in front of her mirror, she gives a once-over at her appearance. Adoring a simple blue spring dress and slip ons gifted by Mina, Minori felt satisfied with her appearance, especially her hair. Surprisingly, her curls decided to be on their best behavior and give perfection. Minori’s white curls fell over her like a halo after the talented pinkette trimmed and styled her hair.

Minori stepped out, content, to find Bakugo scowling at her roommate. Following his line of sight, she notices Mina and Kirishima clearly peering out of the ajared door. Minori chuckles quietly to herself, shaking her head. “Hey, guys.”

The two slightly wave, but otherwise don’t speak a word as they anticipate Bakugo’s next move. “Here,” the ash-blonde male mumbles as he pushes an arrangement of flowers to Minori.

“Wow,” Minori exclaims, looking down at the bouquet of flowers, which included camellias, azaleas, and chrysanthemums. Looking into Bakugo’s crimson eyes, she thanks him and watches as the corners of his eyes soften, only to tense up again when he realizes their two best friends are literally staring at them like creeps.

“Would you two stop staring?!” Bakugo growls.

Unbothered by his outburst, Mina exits her room and grabs the bouquet from Minori. “Go and enjoy your date, I’ll place these in a vase for you.”

“Wow, these are really nice, Bakubro! Do they have any meanings?”

“How should I know? Man, leave us alone.”

Minori laughs with a light heart. She feels fulfilled surrounded by those she loves and cares for, as if the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle has finally been discovered and can be used to complete the puzzle of her existence. Ignoring Bakugo’s outcry, she reaches for his hand and pulls him along. “All right, let’s go. I’ve been looking forward to our date all day,” she says, smiling at him.

Bakugo’s cheeks flush at her sudden bravado, but leads the way to their destination. There isn’t a single awkward moment between the two as they walk; their small talk fills the wind with a lovely whisper, and it feels as if a flower blooms with each step they take. With their hands interlocked, Minori feels comforted. His slight gesture of squeezing down every once and a while reassures her that this isn’t a dream.

As they step closer to their destination, Minori acknowledges that they’ve walked to the park field they typically train in. This time, however, it is embellished with a blanket on the ground and a basket on top. “A picnic?” Minori Minori questions, her eyes twinkling.

“Last night, Mina wouldn’t stop yacking my ear off and helped me prepare this.”

Minori’s lips parted in a realizing ‘o.’ “So that’s why followed after you.”

“Yeah,” Bakugo drawled, frowning as he recalls his memories of last night before sighing.

Minori shook her head before asking, “Did you prepare the food yourself?”

“Obviously, no one else makes food as good as me, and we’re here to eat the best.”

“Right, thank you for the food.”

The air around the two was electrified with affection as the events of the previous few days collectively decided the fate of the duo as they ate a variety of sandwiches, salads, and fruits. Being on a date with Bakugo nourished every part of Minori’s being, from the laughs to the kisses to the sweet silent exchanges.

Minori played with Bakugo’s fingers as the two lay together, staring at the starry night sky. She never imagined she’d be so comfortable and happy with someone that she’d be able to express herself freely. Turning her head to face Bakugo, she stares at his handsome side profile.

No one feature makes Bakugo particularly attractive, although the depth of his eyes come close. With near-perfect skin, a soft yet defined jaw, and a sharp nose, Minori is drawn in by the beauty of his eyes. His vermillion-red eyes are intense and honest, but when he comes across a pair of silver-grey orbs, his sharp eyes soften.

He is rash, impudent, and plagued by insecurities. But he’s reliable, dependable, and trust-worthy. He’s admirable with his Quirk, not because of its grandeur, but because of the effort he puts in for himself every day to improve ever so slightly. He works hard and is determined to become Japan’s number one hero. He’s someone that Minori can say with 100% certainty that she wouldn’t want to be with anyone other than him.

Bakugo faces a staring Minori, a corner of his lip lifting into a smirk as he feels her piercing stare.“Not only can you not keep your hands off of me, but you also can’t help but stare.”

She slaps his arms with laughter, recalling their previous banter from camp when they prepared curry together. She grabs his hands and squeezes them as she peers into his eyes. “Thank you for a wonderful date.”

They lean into each other like two opposite ends of a magnet. Bakugo takes hold of Minori’s chin, leading her to his lips for a soft and brief kiss. Everything he couldn’t say verbally was explained by the pleasant pressure of his lips.

He pulls Minori along with him as he sits up. Reaching inside his pocket, he pulls out a small black box. “I was planning on giving you this earlier, but you know, your mom kind of showed up out of nowhere and ruined the mood.”

Minori’s mouth dropped open in awe as she opened the box. The beautiful butterfly necklace from the mall fit perfectly within the box. “Katsuki,” she says quietly, surprised. Removing it from its packaging, Bakugo assists with chaining it around her neck. The jewel sat on her collarbone flawlessly.

Minori wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him in for a sweet passionate kiss, a million loving thoughts condensed in their embrace. Bakugo’s hands find their way onto her hips as her hands dive into his hair. In that moment, underneath the starry night sky, their chemistry becomes an ever-bright flame.

A/N: Hi y’all! Sorry for missing two weeks, I honestly was not in a good headspacce. Anyways we got some news baddies. Rebirth is nearing it’s completion. That’s right, it’s 90% DONE AHHHH. Minori sighed as she placed her bag on the ground. Ever since she realized and admitted her feelings for Bakugo to Mina, she couldn’t catch a break from the overly enthusiastic girl. After being held captive in her best friend’s room, the many confessional styles replayed in the back of her mind on repeat. Ranging from the typical angsty “i love you’s” on a rainy day to the “anonymous” love-notes. Despite enjoying the stories they’ve read and getting excited as the couples reached a happy ending in the mangas shared, Minori distinctly separated reality from fiction– knowing damn well she could never re-enact those experiences no matter how Mina pushed her to.

For the past week as she trained, Mina stood over her shoulder in an obnoxious outfit that screamed she was here to meddle in some business. But as Mina likes to call it “a disguise to make sure everything goes as planned.” It’s important to mention though that nothing goes as planned because Minori was too embarrassed to even try to at least begin to confess to Bakugo. Meanwhile the pinkette continued to write in her “Sail or Sink” notebook that outlined every plan she thought. Starting from the simple pull Bakugo to the side and confess, all the way to the elaborate damsel in distress scheme. Overall, Mina soon started to resemble Midoriya’s over studious actions about the various types of Quirks.

Today, however, Mina wasn’t in sight, allowing Minori to exhale a breath of relief as she could focus entirely on training without over anticipating what to do, or more importantly, what Mina would do. Therefore as the ash-blonde readied his stance and Minori followed, the two begin with an intense urge to win.

Sweat drips down her back as Bakugo blasts off another explosion from his Quirk. Sidestepping, Minori evades the rough blow aimed for her side. Shooting off a compressed force of air from her hands but Bakugo dodges by jumping backwards and uses his Quirk to create a sphere of light that mimics a stun grenade.

Although the move was intended to freeze Minori, forcing her to switch more to defensive attacks, she instead squinted her eyes as she followed the tighter molecules surrounding her to find where Bakugo was hiding. Surprising him, she throws a bunch at him, striking him in the chest. Yet, as she moves to throw another bunch directed for his face, he catches her wrist and moves to her over his shoulder.

However, she disrupts Bakugo’s momentum by forcefully pulling her arm closer to herself while releasing her heels at the same time to fling her entire body weight at him. The back of Bakugo’s head thumps against the grassy surface while Minori topples over, landing on top, and successfully countering.

When Bakugo opens his eyes, the sight above him has the blonde faltering. Minori looked down with sparkling eyes and a glowing face, smiling that she finally was able to gain the upper-hand while fighting against Bakugo. In reaction, the corners of his mouth slightly tugged upwards in a dazed smile. Minori’s stomach fluttered with butterflies as she struggled to breathe, still, in her flustered state she picked up on Bakugo’s unusual behavior. She expected him to huff at her or throw her off and neither happened, therefore she immediately believed that Bakugo was having some sort of internal bleeding and losing his mind.

As her smile faltered, her eyes tensed with concern. “Katsuki, are you okay?” she asks, placing her hands on the sides of his face to check for any external wounds. “Are you dizzy?”

“What the fuck? I’m fine,” he asserted in a dominant yet comforting tone, reassuring her that he was, in fact, okay. Bakugo isn’t one to bask in pity and he sure as hell strays far from those who try to help him, but when it comes to those he considers dear to his heart like his friends, he’ll try to comfort them in his unique way. “Your weak ass punch couldn’t do anything even if you tried.”

“Are you sure? You fell pretty hard,” the girl insisted as she continued looking him over.

“Don’t insult me,” he mumbled, pouting as the tip of his ears turned the slightest shade of pink. Ignoring him, Minori places her hand atop of his forehead to see as if his body would show sudden signs of a fever. “And stop touching me,” he adds, the pink growing darker as he grabs her wrist to stop her movements and sits up.

Consequently, Minori’s eyes widened in shock as the pair froze from the sudden lack of space between the two. If Minori was thinking clearly she would’ve immediately thrown herself backwards and out his grasp, instead she didn’t move a muscle. His gleaming crimson orbs peered into her grey ones, and with a distance close to none, his features were much more striking, especially his lips.

Minori’s gaze flickered from his eyes and zeroed onto his soft yet slightly chapped lips. As the air cracked with tension, her lungs struggled to breathe as her heart began to beat erratically, feeling as though it may burst. When she languidly tore her gaze back to Bakugo’s eyes, she almost jolted as his eyes darkened in color.

There was this sudden formidable force that struck through the pair, pulling them closer like magnets. Like souls sparking and reaching out for another to bask in warmth, sincerity, and passion. With only inches apart, Minori felt the hand around her wrist tighten in anticipation, moving to close the gap.

“Bakubro! Minori!”

From a distance, the pair could hear the cheery voice of Kirishima and Mina making their way to them.

Blinking open her eyes sharply, Minori scattered away from the blonde, breathing heavily as her stomach rendered her a human butterfly. Grabbing her bag and gulping down a bottle of water, she tapped her fingers against her now empty bottle, impatiently waiting for her classmates to finally get here and interrupt the intoxicating tension.

“Guys! We’re going to the aquarium, so get your sweaty asses in the showers so we can have some fun!” Mina announced, excited with a beaming smile. As Minori blinked at her supposed wingman and number one supporter, she couldn’t help but think how absolutely worse timing she has.

“We’re all leaving in about two hours, so you have plenty of time to get ready,” Kirishima added joyously.

“AND YOU GUYS COULDN’T FUCKING WAIT UNTIL WE GOT BACK TO TELL US THIS?” Bakugo barked, agitation evident through his taught jaw.

“We thought it’d be a nice change of pace. You two are normally out here all day, and if we waited for you to come in, it’d already be too late,” Kirishima explained with an awkward smile, picking up on how angry his closest friend looks.

“It could’ve waited,” Bakugo grumbled, looking toward Minori. At the eye-contact, her thoughts quickly turned back to how just a couple of seconds ago they nearly kissed. Just inches away she would’ve kissed him, and he would’ve kissed her. Uttering a quick “I’ll go get ready” she sharply turns away from Bakugo’s sharp and mesmerizing eyes before nearly sprinting back to the dorms.

***

All of class 1-A agreed to spend the day at the aquarium and Minori couldn’t help but agree how necessary a change of pace was needed. For nearly a month now, all Minori had been thinking about was preparing herself to face the evil of her mother, and just recently, dealing with her crush. But as she walked down the serene halls, enjoying the various types of sea creatures, she was at peace as she allowed nothing to trouble her mind. Pulse, since the incident earlier, Bakugo and Minori haven’t been in each other’s presence nor have even made eye contact.

If Minori dwelled on it too much, she would absolutely be bothered by the sudden distance, but she also acknowledges the fact that she would be way too nervous around him to even utter a single word. Thus, avoidance is a win-win situation for them both, at least that’s what she thinks.

Watching the large jelly-fish swim around in their tanks, Mina breaks her from her reverie, announcing that everyone is going to go watch the seal show that’ll be starting in about 15 minutes, so they need to grab their seats and food. Offering to assist with the food and drinks, Minori makes her way to the concession stands along with Mezo. With his helpful Quirk of Dupli-Arms, he is on food duty while Minori is to order and grab the drinks.

As she began piling the drinks in her arms, someone harshly bumped into her, causing her to drop the bottles in hand. Scowling, she turns to glare at whomever pushed her, only to find a random greanette with a sneering smirk. “Ew, I can’t believe they’d allow a criminal in here,” the girl nagged, looking back at her two friends. “My mom was part of the clean up crew for Hecate and she always told me that villainy was a cycle. Isn’t that right, Tatsumaki?” the girl asked Minori condescendingly, before dramatically gasping with feign realization, “oh my bad, that isn’t your name, is it?”

Here we go again, she thought to herself while blankly staring at the mean girls clique. Since her conversation with Bakugo about her part in the Hecate tragedy, she realized that the hate she’s faced is uncalled for and not something she should have to handle just because she was born from a horrible human being.

Rolling her eyes at the trio, she mindlessly begins picking up the drinks she dropped. “You obviously already knew that otherwise you wouldn’t have made such a dramatic scene,” she said, bored. “Unless, you’re actually an idiot?” she finishes, raising a brow.

As the girl scoffs, offended, she continues in a snotty tone. “Well, no matter what you say just know that when you go berserk and run loose like your mother, know that I’ll be the one to put you down.”

Minori simply stares at the girl with her brows furrowed in utter confusion. First of all, who is this chick and why can’t she mind her business? Secondly, “put you down,” what is she a dog?

“Oh fuck off you buck tooth bitch,” Bakugo growls as small sparks go off from his hands.

As Minori faces the direction of her voice, she calls out to him, “Katsuki? What are you doing here?” It’s not like she’s mad about him making an entrance and scaring the group of girls away, but she doesn’t think her heart can handle anymore surprises.

Ignoring her question, Bakugo stomps toward her with narrowed eyes. “What the fuck have I told you about letting these extras walk all over?”

“Oh,” she mumbles, coming to stand once she has all the drinks in her arms. “Don’t worry about it, there’s no point in arguing with them.”

“You idiot. They’re going to keep treating you like trash, if you let them. They can think what they want and say whatever the fuck they please, but that doesn’t mean they’re free from getting their asses whooped.

“Well I face more consequences than the average human, so it’s better to be the bigger person,” she shrugs.

“Being the bigger person sounds a lot like accepting disrespect,” Bakugo grumbles as he snatches some drinks from her arms, equally splitting the amount she’s holding and how much he’s holding. Minori exhales a giggle at his words and smiles slightly.

“By the way, you never answered my question. What are you doing out here? I thought you were with the rest of them holding our seats,” she asked as the two of them walked back to the auditorium before the show started.

“I was on my way to the bathroom when I saw your dumbass being harassed and not doing anything. And now that I’m here, I might as well help your ass before you take any longer.”

Soon enough, the two made their way back to their classmates without a problem. As they sat down to enjoy the show, Minori realized that there was no awkwardness between the two and she can’t figure out whether she appreciates how what happened earlier that day was easily forgotten or hates it.

Many hours later, the class arrives back in the dorms. Currently, the girls and a couple of guys are seated in the common room while Kirishima, Todoroki, Midoriya, and Bakugo (begrudgingly) helps Sato bring down some cakes to finish the night.

A very light and fun conversation quickly turned sour at Hagakure’s sudden change of subject. “Hey, do you all remember what Tsuyu said the first week of school about Bakugo? Like why he wouldn’t become a good hero because of his attitude?”

“Uh, yeah, why?” Jirou asks, popping one of her earbuds out. Minori, who was currently seated beside Mina, shared a glance with one another, anticipating what the invisible girl would say next.

“I saw Bakugo yelling at a group of girls for no reason when we were at the aquarium. He even activated his Quirk to scare them off. It’s concerning, if he doesn’t change his behavior he’s never be high in popularity polls as a pro. Right, Ki?”

“What?” she spits, frowning.

“You were there–”

“– I know I was there. That’s why I can’t seem to wrap my head around your ‘concern,’” she says, putting her air quotes around concern. “Where were you and how’d you see that?”

“I had to use the bathroom.”

“From Ki’s reaction and what Hagakure witnessed, they both go to show that I wasn’t wrong. Ribbit. It doesn’t matter what those girls said or did, but if Bakugo reacted in such a way it was probably something extremely minor. His immature attitude will get him nowhere, and sometimes it’s better to be the bigger person.”

At every word uttered, Minori grew more and more angry like thunderous clouds slowly growing and darkening from a stark white to a harsh grey. “Shut. Up,” Minori warned, her voice tuft and rigid. “What is with you two? You don’t even know the whole story, but immediately made assumptions on what the hell happened and judging him. And for what, yelling?” Minori shouts, standing up as she narrows her eyes. “Hagakure if you saw the whole damn interaction like some weird creepy stalker, then why didn’t you explain the whole story? I was being harassed, again, and Bakugo stood up for me. And Tsuyu, oh my god, please stop talking out of your ass. You’re extremely judgemental determining whether or not we’ll be able to become hero’s based on your opinion, like there aren’t billions of other people on this earth. Judge yourself for once in your life instead of everyone else, and maybe you’ll finally realize how much of a bitch you are.”

“Minori–”

“I’m not done,” she said, clenching her jaw. “You came to apologize to me after the sports festival for making assumptions about me and judging my origins, then you turn your heads and do the same to Bakugo. You should be ashamed of yourselves, and on top of that, take your heads out of your asses and acknowledge the fact that you two are hypocrites.” Squeezing her eyes shut, Minori breathes out a breath of air from her nose slowly to soothe her anger. Turning around to spend the rest of the night in her room, her whole mood ruined, she pauses mid-step to find Bakugo. His face is tense with the usual crease at his brow, but his red eyes stared into her grey ones in utter awe.

“Oh, B-Bakugo.”

“Fuck off, round face.” Grabbing onto Minori’s wrist, he pulls her away from the peering eyes of their classmates and to the elevator to reach their floor.

Scratching her head, Minori brushes her bangs from her eyes as she opens her mouth to speak. “I know you don’t need me to defend you since you can do it perfectly fine yourself, but they were just so aggravating. They didn’t even know what they were talking about–”

Minori paused as Bakugo closed the distance between the two, painfully aware of the close proximity. But before she could question his actions, his large hands delicately grabbed the sides of her face, lifting her head to meet his.

Minori didn’t know if time stopped when their lips touched or if she finally passed out from the lack of oxygen to her lungs and is currently in a dream-like state, but the flutter of her heart only intensified. Slowly her widened eyes began to close as she focused on how soft he felt against her mouth, addictively invading all her senses.

His movements were slow and gentle, washing over her like a wave of warmth, unfurling all her senses as his touch nearly silenced all thoughts. Although the warm feeling of his breath was destabilizing, at the same time it was inviting, patiently waiting to meet Minori’s quivering lips.

Shakily, Minori pulls back from the kiss to catch her breath. The warmth she felt all around her could alight a forest on fire just as easily as Bakugo’s Quirk. “Are you okay?” He gently asked as Minori tucked herself underneath his chin as they hugged. Nodding in response, she felt his arms tighten around her in reassurance before hearing him mumble, “this would’ve happened way sooner if it wasn’t for those dumbasses, Shitty Hair and Raccoon Eyes.”

Minori let out a giddy laugh at his confession. Her heart was still pounding and her lips were pulsed from his kisses. And as the elevator doors opened to their floor, new experiences and unexpected paths were born.

A/N: Hey baddies, I just want to apologize for getting this chapter out later than I said. It’s currently 1am and I said I’d post the 18th, but now it’s the 19th :/ Honestly, I was very insecure writing this because of the big ole smooch scene! I wanted to grasp everything perfectly and I hope I did it justice! I always had this scene in my notes since the beginning and now that it’s finally happened… I just hope you all like it >.<

“What did you just say?” Startled, Minori jumped in her spot as she turned around to face the voice. Bakugo stared at her with a tantalizing smirk on his face, eyes clouded with mischief as he confidently walked toward her. She stood still as if she were in a trance, like prey caught by its predator. “You like me?”

Minori’s eyes widened in shock at his question, too speechless to utter a word, her lips fell into a surprise’ o.’

“All of a sudden, you turned around and tried to run to your room. I followed, asking if you were alright, but it seemed like you were in your own little world.” Reaching out, he grabs a strand of stark white hair, twirling it around his finger. Minori’s breath hitches at his actions, and most importantly, his following words, “the walls are pretty thin, you know?” Bakugo’s eyes were fixed on Minori’s with a hint of confidence, playfulness, and a weird expression she had never seen before.

The next moment, the air surrounding the room seemed to electrify as Bakugo moved his large hands from her hair to gently hold her cheeks. Slowly, his smirk fell, sparking electricity between the two. Minori’s heart stuttered at his heavy-lidded gaze. His crimson orbs flickered between the grey of her eyes and her full lips, causing her to shut her mouth and swallow roughly.

“Say it again,” Bakugo announced huskily and full of want and need, breaking the silence as the electrical conducts buzz around them.

Flustered, Minori glanced away from his addictively red eyes, repeating the exact words she thought she told herself in private. A breathless chuckle escaped Bakugo’s lips, fanning her face in reaction to Minori’s confession. “I like you too,” he admitted leaning closer to her quivering lips. Hearing that her feelings were reciprocated, Minori visibly relaxed under his hands before closing the distance.

“Minori! Minori! Oi, dumbass!”

Jolting awake and chest heaving, the said girl jumps from her bed, finally noticing the thunderous banging coming from the door. Creaking the door slightly open, she peeks out to find none other than Bakugo Katsuki.

“You’re 15 minutes late for training, idiot,” he huffed, brows furrowing as he picks up on her odd behavior. His analytical vermillion eyes force goosebumps to rise over Minori’s skin, reminding her how just a second ago she confessed and was kissing the same boy that stood in front of her. “Why the fuck are you breathing so heavy like you just ran a marathon?”

“Hey, you know I’m actually feeling too hot– not too hot,” she squeaked, “to train right now.” Dismissing his question, she exited her room without sparring the male a glance and knocked on her floormates door.

“Okay,” he drawls, the tone of his voice obviously confused.

“Right, so I’m going to rest today,” she said as she continued to bang onto the door like a madman.

“Right. Are you sure you’re good?”

“Of course I am! Why does it look like I’m not? Because I am.”

“Okay, calm down. You’re acting like Deku. I’ll see you later when you’re not being weird.”

“Yup!” she shouted, unintentionally too loud and just in time for the door to finally open. Forcing her way in, she pulls the Pinkette back into her room before slamming her friend’s door shut.

“Um, hello? A ‘how are you today?’ would be nice before you started manhandling me!” Mina sassed, narrowing her eyes at her curly, white-haired friend.

“Mina, we have a problem,” Minori responds, shaking the roots of her hair to calm the nerves to cool down before she inflicts a self-induced stroke.

“What’s up? Is it your mom?” Mina asked, pulling Minori along to sit on her bed.

“No, it’s Bakugo.”

“Did he do something? Do I need to bully him because you don’t even have to ask? I already do.”

“No, Mina I,” she sighs, “I like him.”

“Forreal.” Minori nods. “Oh my god, finally! I’ve been waiting forever for you to finally tell me.”

“Wait, what?”

“Yeah, I’m surprised it took so long.”

“Well, that’s because I just realized last night.”

“Seriously?” Mina asked, straight-faced. “You’re not as smart as I thought you were.”

“Yes. Wait, since when did you think I had feelings for him?”

“Literally since our training trip. You know, before the whole kidnapping and all that. I swear you two were going to kiss during dinner once. But anyway,” she waves her hand dismissively before continuing, “why are your feelings a problem again?”

“Um, I don’t know, maybe because I’m currently waiting for the impending doom of my mother!” Minori expressed, dumbfounded.

“I still see no problem,” she admitted, shrugging her shoulders. “What’s a little romance before something terrible. It’ll make you two closer after, at least that’s what I’ve learned from the shojo mangas I’ve read.

“Mina, this isn’t a shojo. It’s my life.”

“Unnecessary specifics, if I might add. Listen girly, I say stop shying away and give your man a big fat smooch, and no, your dreams don’t count.”

“Of course, dreams don’t count. I’m not an idiot.”

“Oh, she smirks, “so you’ve been dreaming about him already, huh?”

“It doesn’t matter whether or not I have Mina,” Minori responded, biting out as the corner of her lips pull downwards in a frown to cover for her flusteredness from being caught.

“I say kiss him!”

“Mina, I’m serious.”

“So am I! Don’t wait on him to make a move, you should!”

“I’d rather not get rejected and be embarrassed for the rest of my life, thank you very much.”

“Do you seriously think he would reject you?”

“He already has.” Mina’s eyebrows shot upwards, waiting for the girl to continue. “My mentor mistook us as a couple, and Bakugo went off saying he’d never date someone like me.”

“Ugh, he’s so stupid! But I don’t believe it. He’s the same one who joined us to go to the mall with him when we were already going. Like, he’s a fucking idiot.

“I don’t know–”

“I do! Listen, if you make a move, I promise you he won’t pull away.”

“I’m not going to, Mina.” Assuming that that was the end of the conversation, Minori made a move to spend the rest of the day in her room, depressed over the idea of Bakugo rejecting her for real. Unexpectedly, though, Mina grasped onto Minori’s wrist, pulling her back to sit back on the bed. Getting close and personal, Mina looked at her friend with a surprisingly scarily serious face.

“Bestie, you’re going to make a move because you’re not just going to bang on my door waking me up from my sleep just to tell me you realize your feelings for Bakugo and then not do anything about it. That’s what we’re not going to do.” Mesmerized by Mina’s sudden assertiveness and slightly scared from her unusual behavior, Minori nodded in agreement, getting whiplash as her friend beamed. “Great! So let’s go over some of my collections and figure which confession is your style.”

A/N: HAHAHAHA *evil laugh* BE HONEST WHO THOUGHT THAT MINORI AND BAKUGO WERE ACTUALLY CONFESSING TO ONE ANOTHER OR DID ALREADY ASSUME IT WAS A DREAM???

Anyways, we’re all caught up. The next chapter will be up sometime during the week of May 17, so stay tuned!

As the minutes tick by, the sun slowly goes down to rest, and the only light starting to emit from the open yard are Bakugo’s explosions. Attempting to evade Bakugo’s full-throttle blow, Minori dive rolls to the side while simultaneously throwing up gusts of air as a shield, pushing the attack aside. Ignoring the inevitable exhaustion that grows within her tense muscles, Minori prepares herself for another attack.

For the past week, the duo has spared non-stop, preparing for the inevitable re-debut of Tatsumaki. And every day, determination to succeed and end the ferocious nightmare that looms over the cities of Japan once and for all rages within her veins. Although Minori has only been training with Bakugo for a week, she can already see improvements within her abilities, especially in her agility. The muscles in her lower body feel much tighter, and she’s able to turn, move her limbs, and pivot much quicker.

As Bakugo blasts off another explosion from his Quirk, he forces debris to blind Minori. As he squints, her eyes are encased in a fiery desire on par with Bakugo’s. Quickly, she conjures a crescent-shaped compression of air to kick away the dust. When cleared, Bakugo no longer stood in front of her. Furrowing her brows, she stayed low to the ground with her muscles strained to evade any oncoming attack.

Surprisingly, Minori felt the hairs of her neck stand tall at the sudden sensation of an attack from above. Lifting her head, the grey of her orbs widened as she witnessed the ash-blonde throw his fist at her from the air. Pushing herself backward, the back of her head thumps against the hard surface o, leaving her completely winded at the surprise attack. Minori acknowledged that the male had purposefully blinded her sight to attack her from the sky, giving himself the upper hand and forcing her to be at his mercy.

Sighing a breath of air from her lungs, Minori shut her eyes as the feeling of dirt clinging onto her sweaty back thoroughly disgusted her, but she was too tired to stand, the fatigue finally catching up to her. Hearing shuffling to her right, Minori blinked her eyes open, sluggishly turning her head toward the direction of the noise; she finds the ash-blonde packing up for the day. “Leaving already?” she asks.

Glancing toward Minori’s disheveled appearance, he simply rolls his eyes. “You have to rest, dumbass,” he says as he makes his way to her lying figure. “Otherwise all this training would be useless if you strain yourself.” Looking down at the girl, he stretches out his hand to grab and helps her stand. Up close, Bakugo was able to witness how messy she truly looked. Her ponytail was ragged with loose hair falling over her features, and she blinked so slow that anyone could tell she was fighting to stay awake. “Go wash up, you stink,” he added, pushing her to walk faster.

“So do you,” Minori countered straight-faced.

“Whatever,” Bakugo waves off dismissively as he walks ahead. “Same time tomorrow.”

“Sounds good,” she yawns.

The following day, Minori wakes up from her bed with a jolt. Typically, she awakes from her alarm. This time, however, an unusually loud banging from her door jolts her awake. Hurriedly, she throws the covers off of her and opens the door to stop the knocking before anyone on the same floor wakes up.

“Katsuki?” Rubbing the sleepiness from her eyes, Minori whispers, “why are you here so early?”

“It’s only 5 am.”

“Yeah, that’s two whole hours earlier than our normal meetup.”

Bakugo shrugs, “oh well. Hurry up and get ready we’ve got to train.” Frowning, Minori furrows her brows as she begrudgingly does as told, meanwhile grumbling curses beneath her breath.

Mindlessly, Minori starts walking toward their usual path to the open yard, only to be pulled in the opposite direction by Bakugo. “We’re not going to our spot?” she asks, confused.

“No,” he responds, still pulling her along with him.

“Then where are we going?”

“To train.” As they walked, Minori continuously hurdled questions at Bakugo to tell her where the two were heading off to, but he just kept saying “to train.” Eventually, she stopped asking, even as they made their way onto a train. She did take note of the destination stop though, it was the Tokyo Metropolitan District.

As they exited the train at their stop, a jovial voice called out to the girl almost immediately. The kindness and excitement in his tone could match the ones of a child laughing in an amusement park. Turning toward the sound, she finds a relatively short older gentleman wearing an orange kimono waving fiercely.

“Sensei?” she whispers as her eyes widen in surprise. Pausing mid-step, she cocks her head toward Bakugo, confusion evident on her soft face.

Not even looking at the girl, his sharp crimson eyes stared straight ahead, uncaringly watching the passerby’s walk. “I got in contact with your mentor,” he spoke, and Minori’s jaw opened slightly in surprise. “You still need work on your Quirk. The training has helped you improve physically, but your Quirk itself could be stronger, so I told that old man to help you.”

The expression on her face was a mixture of dazed desire and amazement. “You got in contact with him for me?” she asks softly, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

Shifting his attention to the girl beside him, Bakugo pouts, his lips puckered as he corrects her, “no! I found him, so I won’t have to hold back when we train.” Fixing the strap of the duffle bag he brought along with him, he nods his head toward Hatake Jiyuu, patiently waiting for the two with a welcoming smile. “Let’s go.”

“Wait.” Grabbing his wrist, she forces him to stop in his tracks. Stepping into his line of sight, the corners of her eyes crinkle as she beams at him. Grateful and touched at the lengths he went to help her. “Thank you,” she finishes genuinely. And in that instant, with Minori smiling unrestrictedly and without a care, the emotional pain that people constantly see in her eyes disappears, and at that moment, she’s happy.

Bakugo nods in response, his cheeks turning the softest shade of pink, and the two finally make their way to Jiyuu.

“Minori, it’s so good to see you again,” Jiyuu greets warmly at his young student. “I wasn’t expecting to see you so soon, but it’s good to see you nonetheless.”

“Likewise,” she responds with a kind smile. “Thank you for taking time out of your day to help.”

“Well, of course!” he declared, standing straighter with his hands on his hips, resembling All Might’s signature stance to the people of Japan. “It’s the least I could do after your boyfriend here went out of his way–”

“Boyfriend?!” They shout in unison, glancing at one another before focusing their sight on the elderly man.

“W-we’re not dating,” Minori clarifies, fiddling with the tips of her fingers, looking away from both of the males, feeling surprisingly embarrassed.

“Of course I wouldn’t date this idiot! What the fuck do I look like, huh?!” Bakugo scowls, scolding Jiyuu.

“Um, okay, OUCH,” Minori frowns. “It was an honest mistake, Bakugo, no need to get so angry,” she grumbles, rolling her eyes at his theatrics. “I didn’t know the possibility of dating me bothered you so much.”

“Well now you know,” he mumbles.

“Um,” Jiyuu nervously chuckles, scratching his head. “If only I wasn’t bald, you know? I’d be playing with the strands then rubbing my head like a baby,” he jokes, trying to lighten the mood, but he was only met with strained, awkward silence. “Yeah, that’s on me. It was not the time. The joke wasn’t even funny,” he mumbles to himself, motioning for the two teens to follow.

Blinking, Minori follows her mentor, forcing herself to pick up speed to walk beside him rather than the blonde male she came along with. For the sake of her well-being, she couldn’t figure out why Bakugo’s reaction bothered her so much. Of course, it’s embarrassing to be mistaken as a couple with your friend, but is the idea of dating someone like her so bad? Is she such a horrible being to be with? It was a simple mistake on Jihyuu’s part, it was apparent he meant no harm, but Bakugo was so aggressive. Maybe- maybe he reacted that way because of who she is. Ki Minori, daughter of the most notorious murderer in Japan, Tatsumaki, of course, no one would want to be mistaken to be in a relationship with someone like her. She accepted and understood the fact that no one would ever be interested in her because of her baggage, but it was the fact that it was Bakugo of all people to react that way. She always assumed that he was different. She was wrong.

The same male who cluttered her mind with incessant thoughts was the same one who pulled her out of her reverie by tapping onto her shoulder. Pulling away from his grasp, she narrowed her eyes at him, “What, Bakugo?”

“The old man is waiting for you,” he tells her, putting his hands in his pockets. “I’ll wait over here. Call me if you need me.” Without a word, Minori turns and walks away. She thanked the universe for allowing her some more time away from him, but she couldn’t help but feel bad over her standoffish attitude with him. She knows she shouldn’t hold his reaction against him, but she couldn’t help but feel angry.

As she stood in the middle of the field where she had first started her training with Jiyuu those months back, she was filled with nostalgia. They faced one another, and Minori took note of his serious wizened face, remembering the similar expression he wore the last time the two first trained in this patch of grass. “Training starts now,” Jiyuu starts, stretching his limbs into a readied stance.

“First to get knocked down loses,” Minori finishes, smirking as she copies the stance. Immediately, the two begin, and Jiyuu wastes no time lunging for the girl. But this time, she wasn’t taken by surprise. Her agility has improved tremendously, and now she can easily maneuver away from his hands, all the while activating her Quirk to blast a current of air to push him down. Jiyuu smiled slightly at her speed before going in for another offensive attack, leaving Minori to react defensively.

Their combat prolonged before suddenly Jiyuu switched his melee attacks from offense to defense, and Minori, who typically relies on defense, narrowed her eyes at the shift. “If you solely rely on defense, you’ll lose the upper hand in a match. You need to have a perfect balance of attack and defend.”

Narrowing her eyes, Minori tensed her muscles and fired a compressed force of air from her foot directed toward her mentor. To her surprise, he easily evaded, and in the blink of an eye, he kicked her off balance, the impact effectively knocking her onto the ground.

“Remember,” Jiyuu commented, reaching out a hand to grasp hers. “When you’re on defense, make sure to pay attention to your opponent’s weak points. Once you find an opening, switch to offense. That is how you win.” With a combined effort, Minori stands on her feet, mentally jotting down her mentor’s criticism. “I see you still have trouble with overthinking. The use of your Quirk should be an act of impulse, not something you have to think about when, what, or how to use. It’s supposed to be like the mindless sensation of your heart beating or your eyes blinking.”

Huffing, Minori stretches her arms, frustrated that she can’t seem to understand the control of her Quirk. “I don’t know how to use my Quirk unless I think about it.”

“Objectively speaking, that is a problem. Close your eyes, we’ll begin.” Following her instructor, she sits on the patch of grass and straightens her back. Exhaling a breath, she closes her eyes and listens to the soft voice of her teacher. As time passed, Minori found the constant sensation of her Quirk lying within her eardrums. She had never noticed the noise before, but the moment she did, the ringing of wind blowing grew louder. Suddenly her limbs felt heavier, and her energy seemed to drain exponentially. Jiyuu told her it was because she was at the center of her Quirk, and together they worked on drawing energy to and from the center of her abdomen.

By the end, Minori’s gait that was smooth just this morning was now heavy and sluggish. Flopping onto the ground, she groaned aloud. Typically, her body felt weightless, but today’s training made her feel like she weighs ten tons. Her brain felt like it was repeatedly kicking her skull, and even the slight movement of wind forced her to groan in pain as her senses overstimulated.

As she lies on the ground and waits for it to open up and drag her to the center of hell, she overhears a familiar deep voice, “Is she good?”

“You’re a fucking idiot, you know that?” Minori bit out, frowning at the idiotic question.

“The fuck? I was just asking to make sure–”

“I’m lying on the ground, dying!” she yells out, exasperated. “Does it look like I’m good?” she asks, forcing her eyes to glance into red ones with a blank expression.

“Why don’t we finish up today, yeah?” Jiyuu intervened. “You’ve done very well today, Minori. Right now, you’re feeling the effects of your Quirk.”

“I feel like death.”

“Stop being dramatic, idiot.”

“Fuck off,” Minori grumbled. Today she couldn’t find Bakugo to be even more irritable, but every word he uttered continued to add fuel to the fire growing within her veins.

“Alright,” Jiyuu drawled. “I’ll see you two tomorrow then. Same time?” Bakugo answers for the miserable girl with a nod

“We’re doing this again?!” the curly-haired girl asked, biting her cheek to refrain from saying anything disrespectful.

“Obviously, how else are you going to improve.”

“I wasn’t asking for your input, Katsuki, so mind yours.”

“Oh? We’re back on a first-name basis again. Someone seems to be in a better mood,” Bakugo jibbed, smirking at the girl as he reached out an arm to help her stand.

Stubbornly, Minori rolls her eyes, “touch me, and I kill you.”

“Yeah okay,” Bakugo remarks sarcastically. “Says the one who can’t even lift a finger.”

Staring at one another, Minori narrowed her eyes, conjuring all the strength she had within to prove a point. Languidly, raising her arm, she looks him dead in the eyes and flips him off.

Snorting, he asks, “did that make you feel better?” still devilishly smirking at her.

“Yes. Yes, it did,” Minori responds, content. As they bantered, they brought a sense of playfulness out of another. But her actions seemed to deplete energy from within her fairly quickly, and she struggled to keep her eyes open.

“Do you need help getting back to the dorms? It doesn’t seem like she has enough energy to stay awake.”

“I got it,” Bakugo responds confidently. Gently, he picks Minori up bridal style before, finally her lashes connect and joins the dark, but not before she heard Bakugo say, “my mom should be here soon to give us a ride back.”

For the rest of the week, the two meet Jiyuu at the train station and follow him back to his building to train. Just like she felt improvement with only a week of training with Bakugo, with Jiyuu, she grew more confident with the control and mechanisms of her Quirk, improved in her combat style, and found created an ultimate move.

“Thank you again, Sensei, for all you’ve done to help me.” Bowing, Minori expresses her gratitude for the time spent with her mentor and the lifelong lessons she won’t dare to forget.

“It’s the least I could do, Minori,” he reassured, his eyes crinkling as he smiled. Patton her head, caringly, she asks for her to stand straight. “I want to apologize again for what you’ve traumatically experienced at the hands of the public and, most recently, by the League of Villains.” Unintentionally, Minori flinched at the name, the corner of her lips pulling downwards in a frown. “You haven’t been my student for long, but I am so extremely proud of you. You have been one of the most determined students I have been lucky to teach, and I know you’ll succeed in becoming a wonderful hero. A hero of change.”

His words of praise brimmed her large grey orbs with newfound tears. It was still odd for Minori to receive compliments, but as Jiyuu adoringly smiled at her, she found comfort in his words. He believed in her, in her future. And at that moment, it felt like the sun gifted its power upon her skin, wrapping her in shiny, glowing wings, allowing her to heal from the pain inflicted upon her inside and out.

Finally, they wave their goodbyes and split off into different directions. Bakugo and Minori walk back to U.A. from the train station. The warmth from earlier still settling itself on her heart, but she could not herself from questioning the future.

“Why do you look like that?” Bakugo asks, disrupting the peaceful silence.

“I was just thinking,” she mumbles, biting her lip.

“About?”

“Is it going to be enough?” she asks as they make their way to the elevators toward the fourth floor.

“What is?” Furrowing his brows, the red of his eyes flickers to the girl beside him, anxiously fiddling with her fingers.

“Everything. All the time I spent training and what I’ve learned… is it going to be enough to beat Tatsumaki?” she whispers, wide-eyed at Bakugo.

“Obviously not with that attitude.”

“I’m serious, Katsuki.” Sighing, she brushes her bangs from her eyes once they reach their floor. “I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me again. It’s my fault for the tragedy, so it’s my duty to stop her. I have to right my wrongs.”

Suddenly, she is pulled by the elbow and pushed onto the wall. Bakugo is hovering above her, with his eyebrows furrowed and crimson orbs narrowed. “Stop fucking saying that,” he grumbles, tightening his hold on her elbow. “Stop blaming yourself over something you had no control over.”

Watching in shock, she mumbles out, “Katsuki?” Confused at the sudden anger that seemed to flow from him out of nowhere.

“Shut up, and listen to me.” Placing his large hand over Minori’s mouth, he literally forces her to be quiet and listen. As they lock eyes, he continues. “You were four fucking years old. A child, what were you supposed to do? Stop her? With what? You told me yourself your Quirk did not activate until months after the incident. So all these bitchass extras complaining and blaming you are all dumbasses. They’re worse than Deku.”

Minori’s eyes soften as she looks at him, pulling on his arm to speak. She sighs, “but I didn’t even try. I didn’t do anything.”

“So what?” shifting his arm away from her mouth, he places his hands on her cheeks, and the colors grey and red lock onto one another, like a heady trance between a fly and light. “You’re telling me that it would’ve been better to die along with everyone else? A martyr?”

Martyr, child, quirkless four-year-old. For the first time, Minori finally understood that the tragedy was not hers to hold. It was not her responsibility to apprehend her mother, a grown woman, a villain. She didn’t deserve to be abused and nearly killed for what had happened. She was not the one to be blamed. The only one to blame was Tatsumaki for her actions. She, Ki Minori,is a victim.

As his words resonated deep within her soul, without thinking, she threw her arms around him, pulling him into a hug. He grew tense around her, but in his arms, she felt relaxed, safe. In a world where she continuously has to fight to prove herself to the world and fight to save others, she finally felt protected

“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” she muttered, finally loosening her arms around him and stepping back. The urge to never let go claims her mind but forces herself nonetheless. Looking into his vermillion orbs, it feels like a strong electrical current is shooting out from his into hers, and all of a sudden, Minori feels her belly flip like how it feels to ride a roller coaster when it dips.

They say red is the fiercest color because its irresistible brightness ignites passion and intensity. Bakugo’s eyes resemble just that, strength and power. The red hue representing fiery rays of sunshine, and Minori can’t help but fall into an abyss of warmth whenever she’s with him.

With a jolt, Minori stands straight, hurriedly walking to her room with a quick goodnight to the male who brought her comfort. For the first time, the unanswered question that raged her mind a week ago about why Bakugo’s reaction bothered her so much was now answered. To simply put, it’s because:

“I like Bakugo.”

A/N: FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD!!! IT ONLY TOOK MINORI 300 THOUSAND YEARS TO REALIZE HER FEELINGS BUT WE OUT HERE PURRRR

Minori stood immobile as silence seeped into her every pores like poison, slowly paralyzing her speech and movement before robotically exiting the area. As she rounds the corner, her limbs move as if an inexperienced puppeteer was controlling her.

Her eyes are wide and were trained on some invisible specter. She blinked a fraction too slow to be normal; it was as if her brain was suffering a massive short circuit and was struggling to compute.

Suddenly, Mina moved into her line of sight, grabbing onto her shoulders and furrowing her eyebrows as her amber eyes darted about in concern, searching through her friend’s irises for any possible answers. But all she was met with was emptiness.

“What the fuck happened?” a powerfully hoarse voice demanded.

“I don’t know. She came back from the bathroom like this.”

“Minori?” Bakugo asked, tilting her head upwards delicately by the chin, his jaw tense. The motion effectively forced her eyes to focus on crimson orbs, but she wasn’t looking at him, more so through him. Before, silently tumbling to the ground. Reflexively, Bakugo reached out to grab her before she fell completely.

After that, the two of them lead her back like a lost child. Her hair was ragged, symbolizing the aftermath of meeting such a person, loose frays falling over her features. The only noise that suffocatingly hung over them was Minori repeating “it’s happening” over and over again in a flat tone.

After what felt like centuries, the trio finally made it back to the U.A. dormitory. For some unknown reason, the sight of the brick building brought Minori back to life. The shock that she first experienced from seeing her mother after all this time finally shifted to third gear, allowing her to feel the stampede of emotions girdling her soul.

Ducking her head down to shield the glimmering of her eyes, she turned to make her way to her room. Instead, she bumped into an extremely hard chest, causing her to stumble back.

“Woah! Sorry about that, Minori, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” the redhead apologized, rubbing the back of his beck bashfully before his mouth fell agape and his eyes widened. “Shit, are you okay? I’m sorry if I hurt you. I didn’t mean to make you cry.”

As the boy rambled on apology after apology, Minori stiffened as she hurriedly tried to wipe the tears that fell from her watery eyes. Before she could allow her emotions to take charge of her and collapse onto the ground, cursing at the entire universe, a firm hand wrapped around hers before pulling her away.

Turning her head back, Minori caught the subtle wink Mina sent her way before actively trying to console the blubbering male for what she could only assume a silent way of saying, “leave it up to me.”

Bakugo’s hand firmly gripped hers, and the slight embrace brought warmth to every cell in her body. It surprises her how at ease she feels when he is around, and although, just a second ago, she was near a complete breakdown, now she could feel the steadiness of her heart pumping.

As they enter her room, Bakugo sits her down on her desk chair and grabs onto the chair’s arms, so she is facing him. “What happened?”

Minori blinked, pulling at her fingers. “She was there,” she mumbled, shivering.

“Who?”

“She spoke to me,” she continued, her voice quavering as she tightened the grip around her fingers.

“Minori, explain.

"I have to stop her,” she muttered, grabbing onto her temples.

“What–” Bakugo sighed, gently pulling her hands away. His hands enveloped hers, soothingly rubbing his thumb over her knuckles. “What happened when I was gone?”

“I went to go to the bathroom, and suddenly my mom popped up. I was scared for my life– for everyone’s, but I couldn’t move or even scream; my body wouldn’t. I was too weak,” she confessed, dropping her head in shame.

“But you’re here right now, safe, so what did you do?”

“That’s the thing,” she furrows her brows, “I didn’t do anything. I threatened to scream, but she knew that was just a bluff. All she did was scream and belittle me, but–” she bit her lip, glancing upwards at Bakugo as his sharp eyes patiently waited for her to continue. Not an ounce of judgment flickering through his orbs. “She warned me. She says she’s to make her debut soon, and she’s giving me a chance to stop her. I just don’t understand why she would warn me.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“What?”

“It doesn’t matter the reason. She’s a fucking bitch who’s going down once and for all.”

“She has someone working with her, though, and some sort of relationship with the L.O.V.”

“Even better, we’ll beat those losers to a pulp.”

“We?”

The two locked eyes. His typically calm exterior was now graced with a tinted pink over his cheeks and slightly widened eyes. His sudden reaction brought a slight smile to Minori’s face as she watched him stand straight to his full height, stuffing his hands in his pockets. Flickering his eyes away, he clears his throat, “Obviously. Your mom sucks and needs to get her ass handed to her, and who better than me to help pulverize some losers?"

"Right,” she giggles. “Thank you.”

“No problem,” he grumbles, “it’s annoying enough that she’s back, but it’s fucking stupid if she thinks she can stop you from becoming a hero,” he rolls his eyes. “You’ve said it multiple times before, right? That you’ll be a hero, so don’t go back on your word like these damn extras.”

Minori stared unblinking at the ash-blonde grateful for his words in his Bakugo-like glory. She gazed into his vermillion orbs that radiated passion, sincerity, and warmth under his tough exterior. The emotion in her eyes was fathoms deep, yet within seconds she could alight a forest on fire with the support she felt.

“I think I should tell Mina and Kiri. They’ve always been concerned for me, and I feel like I owe the truth to them at least.”

“You sure?” He questions, raising a brow.

“Yes,” she nods. “I trust them.” In response, Bakugo pulls out his phone, his thumbs flying over his screen, before nonchalantly placing it back in his pocket. Not even thirty seconds later, the door swings open with a heaving Mina and Kirishima.

“Did you guys run here?” Minori asked, her lips twitching as she tried to refrain from laughing.

“Yes,” Mina exhaled, her hands on her knees.

“When Bakubro texted us, we knew it had to be serious since he never texts first. Ever.”

Glancing over said male for confirmation, the male shrugs, not caring to deny such claims.

“What’s up?” Mina asks, crouching in front of Minori as her lips pouted in concern.

“I have some stuff I wanted to tell you,” she admits, looking at each of them and begins. As she speaks, she recognizes her friends’ reactions: shock, anger, and most of all, concern. When she was done, Mina immediately threw her arms over the girl.

“I’m so sorry that you’ve had to deal with this, especially on your own,” she sympathizes. Pulling back to her friend’s eye, she says, “We’re here for you, Minori."

"She’s right,” Kirishima adds, genuinely smiling at her and placing a hand on her shoulder in a reassuring manner. “You don’t have to carry all this alone like you’ve done something wrong.”

“You’ve got our support no matter what!” Mina beamed alongside Kirishima. Even Bakugo sent her a slight head nod of encouragement.

Just when it seems that the world is nothing but an endless dark abyss meant to hold you captive in a cycle of pain, hatred, and depression, there are specks of light that appear. And the more specks there are, the brighter it gets. For that moment, when it finally feels like you’ve reached the end and you’re right about to crush into the ground, the stabbing pain you’ve felt will transform into wings.

A phoenix of light will emerge from the darkness, leaving behind ashes of the past and born anew.

Minori couldn’t breathe, her throat constricted as if someone was choking her and her blood ran cold, leaving her muscles tense. With a racing heart, she turned toward the toneless voice. The blood pumping through her system stuttered as her eyes widened in fear at the figure hiding in the shadows.

There, a few feet away from her, stood her worst nightmare, and there was no possible way for her to ignore the horrific sight. Unable to move, adrenalin flew over her veins, but she couldn’t move a single muscle, not even scream. The absolute horror completely paralyzed her, and the more she thought about running away, the more she felt discouraged and utterly terrified.

Slow and deliberate footsteps echoed over the stale room. “It’s been a while,” the monster said, stepping out of the shadows, a contorted grin across her face.

Minori’s pulse banged in her ears as sweat dripped down her back as she met thin, stern-looking eyes enhanced with dark bags. Staring into her eyes, Minori found nothing. It was like looking inside a depth of never-ending darkness. She blinked, thinking– hoping what she sees, or the lack thereof, is just a side effect of the paranoia, but the longer the two stood there, the silence hung in the air like the suspended moment before a glass shattered onto the ground.

The whites of Tatsumaki’s eyes contrasted sharply with the pitch-black irises that sunk deeply into her head. Its depth resembled that of a pure black hole in space, an air of eeriness and unsettling coldness emanating from her gaze.

The urge to curl up into a ball and wait for someone to come save her ached at her entire being, but she had already acknowledged the fact that no one would. It’s just like what happened eleven years ago. A choked cry for help forced itself up her throat. Swallowing the dry bile that came up, Minori finally opened her mouth to speak, her tongue heavy. “Why are you here?”

Tatsumaki grinned, the malice as tangible as the floor beneath their feet. “That’s no way to speak to your mother.”

“Why are you here?!”

“Quiet!” she hissed, strutting towards her daughter, forcing the girl to stand up straighter in fear. “Why am I here? Are you fucking kidding me? Why wouldn’t I be, Miss Hero?”

Minori pulled backwards, her head leaning against the wall as panic raced through her veins like white, hot fire.

“I’m here because of you.” she paused, languidly sweeping a strand of Minori’s hair in her hand. “You’re hair’s gotten a lot curlier since you were a kid.”

“Don’t,” Minori grits in order to stay silent. How dare she say something so intimate. She has no right to comment on how much I’ve changed; she was never there, to begin with.

Tatsumaki gently lifted Minori’s chin with a fingertip. “Don’t you see? We’re the same, you and I.”

Narrowing her eyes, Minori smacked her mother’s hand away. Eyebrows furrowed in from suppressed anger. Every word uttered from the person before her stung, only adding fuel to the fire that burned inside her. “You and I will never be the same. I’ll make sure of that.”

Grabbing Minori by the wrist with an iron grip, she chuckled. “Sweetie, you don’t have a choice. It’s already been set in stone, you know that. Otherwise, you would have confessed to someone that you saw me.”

Minori’s chest tightened as she bit her lip.

“My oh my,” she purred, “how absolutely devious!”

“I’m not deviant.”

“No. No, you’re not. You’re much worse. You’re my daughter,” the villain simpered, watching as the grey of her daughter’s eyes widened and tensed. “And because you’re my daughter, you’re as bad as me.”

“No, I’m not,” she whispered, voice nearly failing under the weight of a cracking psyche.

“Clearly you are,” she drawled, bored. “How much longer do you think you would’ve lasted in Thanatos?” she asked, twirling her daughter’s hair in her finger.

“Humans need company,” she murmured. “Without it, then they can go a little coo-coo, you would know, right?” Tatsumaki turned to face her, head tilted. “It’s like death. At least, that’s how I always imagined it– a cold, dark cell, unable to move or do anything, trapped in your own head with no one else to guide you out of the dark places you end up in. An eternity of conscious nothingness,” she finishes, smiling.

Minori bowed her head to hide the tears that threatened to overflow. “Why are you here? Why are you talking to me?”

“My guess is that you just reached your limits,” ignoring Minori’s questions, she continues. “We both know if you had uttered a single word about seeing me, you would’ve been immediately thrown into a cell and left to die, and this time no one would be able to come and save you.”

“What are you doing?” Minori heaved, squeezing her eyes shut to calm the raging of emotions. “Why would you come all this way to talk to me knowing everything you put me through. Why are you playing with me?”

“You’ve always been melodramatic,” she groaned, rolling her eyes. “It’s annoying how many questions you ask. Honestly, I wanted to have some fun; catch up, but you’re being such a debbie downer,” she laughs.

“I’m not playing with you. I’m preparing you for life. I always have.”

“No, you haven’t!” bites Minori. “I don’t live a normal life because of you.”

“And you never will.”

“I’ll scream. I’ll scream right now for them to take you away. And they won’t blame me anymore because they’ll have you.”

“No, you won’t because you know if you blow my cover that I’m here, I’ll kill every single person here,” the villain cocked an eyebrow, not an ounce of remorse glinting in the dark abyss of her eyes. “Starting with your best friend, the pink one. What’s her name again? M–”

“SHUT UP!” Minori snaps, lips pulled back in a snarl, her knuckles turning white from how tight she’s squeezing.

“I’ll be letting the world know that I’m back soon and see what these heroes can do about it,” she sneers. “See what you can about it.” Tatsumaki moved to take hold of Minori’s chin, forcing the young girl to look her in the eyes. Minori flinched as their gaze locked, every hair on her body standing on high alert, but nothing in her body proved to be strong enough to move. It seemed that this was her ending.

“I must say,” Tatsumaki tsks, removing her hands as she places them on her hips. “I’m disappointed in how little you’ve changed. No wonder they all blame you. I’m standing right in front of you, yet you still don’t make a move. Saddening.” She snickered to herself, but just for a second, Minori picked up on the uncertainty that flickered just behind her dark eyes.

Tatsumaki took a step back after patting her daughter’s head, leaving Minori a shuddering mess. With a wave of dismissal and a slight knock on the wall behind her, a perfect circle outlined with blue and purple formed behind. Without even looking, Minori watched as the most wanted person escaped from the palm of her hands just like that.

 “Try to stop me, Aura,” she pronounces her hero name condescendingly, her face twisting in disdain as if the name left a bad taste before all that was left for Minori to see was the grey walls.
