Just finished reading my favourite fanfic series, Force Bond by @kittandchips

This is a scene from Mustafar Weekend, when the Sith crystal awakens and tries to open the mysterious door. Luke is still in his pyjamas :)

Thank you, @kittandchips, for the amazing series! Force Bond is the most interesting thing I’ve ever read ;)

wow, thank you so much for this! It’s incredible. Possessed Luke looks truly terrifying there. I love the background too. And the glow on the lightsaber!

That fic was a special one for me because it was the first star wars fanfic I’d manage to finish in ten years.

Obikin

It’s such a touching relationship!!

I love how it evolved and how much Anakin and Obi Wan grew up as individuals and as a team, how much they learned from each other and also enjoyed each other…that’s what makes the end of it that much sad and tragic.

That’s what I wanted to convey on this illustration…

gffa: I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS LINE.One of the things that both Attack of the Clones and Revenge ogffa: I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS LINE.One of the things that both Attack of the Clones and Revenge o

gffa:

I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS LINE.

One of the things that both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith established is that the Jedi weren’t able to use the Force very well, because there was too much darkness, it’s clouding the future, they can’t see things very well, it’s even directly stated by Mace:  “I think it is time to inform the Senate that our ability to use the Force is diminished.

There are several mentions of how the Dark Side is quicker, easier, how it’s the path to suffering.  That famous line of Yoda’s in TPM, “Fear is the path to the dark side… fear leads to anger… anger leads to hate.. hate leads to suffering.” So it seems like, well, the Jedi don’t want anything to do with the Dark Side, right?  That means the Jedi are of the Light Side, right?

But I can never find any mention of this in Immovable Canon (aka, the things that George himself was directly involved with).

“It’s obvious, though!  You can pick up any game or picture book or anything and it will say RIGHT THERE that the Jedi are the Light Side!”

(From an interview with George Lucas.)

“Well, it’s ALL OVER the novels and comics and there was this thing called the Force Wars in comics and novels that–”

LUCAS: “I don’t read that stuff. I haven’t read any of the novels. I don’t know anything about that world.  That’s a different world than my world.”

So, I think about that, about setting aside everything Legends or merchandise would tell me, because those are different things, they’re not connected with the Immovable History of Star Wars for this question.

And then I come back to, “You were supposed to bring balance to the Force!” and how that means the Force must have been out of balance, which is that there was too much darkness, but I’m not sure there’s anything that specifically says the Jedi aren’t about both Light and Dark, that balance means to them to have those two things both present, but in healthy balance with each other.

Obi-Wan says that Anakin was meant to destroy the Sith, not the Dark Side. (As the Sith are canonically a corruption of the Force.)

Obi-Wan doesn’t say to bring the Force back to the Light Side, but to bring balance to it.

Idk, the more I turn it over, the more I’m starting to wonder if the canon itself meant that the Jedi weren’t about one side over the other, but instead their aim was for harmony of both.  That the galaxy was out of balance is the point of why they couldn’t sense the future, why their vision was clouded, why so many things and people were able to hide from them, but I can’t think of anything that says they wanted Only The Light Side.  The “Light Side” is never really even mentioned as far as I can find.

(This sets aside that Disney canon is more complicated and attitudes may have shifted since George left, but I’m currently focusing on stuff he was involved with, to try to get at the original intentions of the Balance of the Force.)

Anakin: it’s not too late to get out of here, master. We could start a new life on a distant planet, maybe open up a small bookstore

It took her long enough.

I initially was going to queue this for later in the month… but it is Revenge of the Fifth. I thought I might treat y’all early, even if that means a longer wait for the next update.

Now for another mystery: who combed Leia’s hair into the clone-wars-anakin look this update? (I’d like to think it was Proxy.)

I really liked the title of “Lady Vader” given to Leia in the original Thrawn trilogy–and that Leia was somewhat uncomfortable with it. Leia got this title from the Noghri, but I like to headcanon that children of Sith traditionally inherit their parents’ title, even without becoming Lords through training.

This attaches to another headcanon of mine about the Sith: that their use of the Dark Side is akin to injecting themselves with poison over a long period of time. The result is significant damage to their bodies, which is somewhat reflected in canon. This would make it exceedingly rare for a Sith Lord to have a biological child.
