Virgil woke up surrounded by warmth and the smell of sugar.
It was nice for about as long as it took him to fully drag himself from the depths of his exhausted slumber, at which point it became terrifying.
He jerked half-upright in a blind panic, heart racing, and tried to lift his arms up to see how bad the restraints were. He was pinned under heavy layers of thick fabric, and he wasted a few precious moments silently wrestling against them before he was finally free, his fingers instantly flying to his face and seeking out the familiar bite of leather and silver.
There was none. The only thing that caught against his fingers was old scar tissue along the underside of his jaw.
The echo of old memories faded into the background, his mind slowly replacing them with the reality of his surroundings.
cleanwhiteroom posting Ad Noctum again this week and rewatching Air part 1-3 with my dad yesterday sent me into an SGU spiral, and as a result my notebook has a new doodle-filled double page spread of CWR/SGU tribute. At the top we have AdNoc!Rush, Math!Rush, FoD!Rush, AdNoc!Rush again(but this time with crystals and goop), then Young, Eli and Rush who I drew whilst watching Air, followed by the desert planet they end up on in part 3. Then we have a ‘cover’ for At All Angles, aka my favourite arc in Force Over Distance. Been a while since i drew all these guys but it was so much fun! Also the gate is weirdly relaxing to draw….
Having just seen the LEGO Batman movie, I have a strong and desperate need for Pidge to acquire a pair of Robin glasses that make her eyes go big and shiny like this:
And she absolutely hates the crap out of them because they make her look ten years younger than she already looks, but they’re always close by and handy when she needs the big-eyed vulnerable look against Shiro or Coran or any of the others.
