I know I planned my reread of The Raven Boys for March but I loved the audiobook narration so much, I’m so tempted all the time to bring that reread forward… then I remember the massive pile of books I’m already reading at the moment, and think the better of it. At nine books on my currently reading pile, I better focus on those books first, then fully immerse myself in The Raven Boys when I’m not juggling so many books anymore.
Paper is handed in, business plan will be in soon, serious studying for tomorrow midterm is beginning, and then, I have a couple of days to relax a smidge and I cannot wait for them! In the meantime, I’m holing up inside on this rainy Vancouver afternoon until class ☔️ . .
The Pocketbook of Love Mouna Kalla-Sacranie (2016)
This is a handmade, hand-bound, handbook, made with the intention of capturing the essence of what love - in all its many forms - can feel like.
The idea for this handbook came to me a few months ago, when I came across this post in which by poet/writer Naveed Khan ( @navk ) was asked to describe love - without using the word love. I was so moved after reading his descriptions, I felt compelled to ask him if he would allow me to illustrate his words. He said yes, and so the Pocketbook of Love was born.
He broke his definition of love into the following six pairs which constitute the ‘chapters’ of this book:
1. warmth and luminescence 2. comfort and compassion 3. trust and empathy 4. support and security 5. passion and affection 6. nostalgia and longing.
