As the oils produced from the microalgae are edible and have superior properties to those found in palm oil, the newly discovered method would serve as a healthier and greener alternative to palm oil, according to the research study published in Journal of Applied Phycology.

Compared to palm oil, the oil derived from the microalgae contains more polyunsaturated fatty acids, which can help reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol levels in blood and lower a person’s risk of heart disease and stroke, the study states.

Palm oil is the most widely consumed vegetable oil on the planet, found in many packaged products sold in the supermarket. While palm oil is the most efficient source of vegetable oil, its rapid expansion threatens some of the planet’s most important and sensitive habitats. The algae oil innovation could present a possible alternative that can stop the damage.

Besides serving as a greener alternative to cultivating palm trees for plant-based oils or fat, the NTU-developed technique also has the potential to help cut down on greenhouse gas emissions as well as food waste.

When I first heard this news last week I thought that it was a mistaken press release. It’s inconceivable that Djakarta would give up their primary export and source of foreign exchange. But it may not be as dire as portrayed. The export ban apparently does not apply to crude palm oil but only to processed. And CNBC analysts believe that the ban will be short lived.

And the midwest is anxiously watching the futures on both corn and soybeans as spring planting takes place.

Of course, this also encourages Brazil to burn more of Amazonia to covert to soy.

Save our rainforest!

Why is it important to save the rainforest?

  • Every 2,5 seconds we lose an area of the rainforest which is as big as a footballfield
  • A tree can change 9000 liters of carbondioxid into oxygen in one sunny day. Think of all the trees that are missing
  • The earth gets infertile without the trees
  • Annihilation of indigenous cultures
  • Every day more than 70 species die out
  • About 90% of the types of trees in the rainforest are nearly vanished
  • Just take 3 minutes of the time you spend in the internet and google some more… you will be shoked

What can you do to stop the clearing?

  • Stop buying products which include palm oil (Nutella, most sorts of chocolate, …) and buy some without it instead
  • Stop the consum of paper and use paper with a seal of quality
  • Eatless meat (because in the agriculture products of soya are used to feed the animals. To plant those big areas of the fainforest are cleared)
  • Only buy (cosmetic) products if the have a certain seal of quality
  • Stop using to much plastic (because to get oil the rainforest is cleared)
  • Spread the message and tell your friends
  • Shrink your carbon footprint
  • Just search up some more. There are tons of things you can do.

Together we can save the rainforest, animals, humans and the natures if just enough people be part of the change!

This isn’t about politics. This is about saving our earth.

(Sorry for my english, i am not a native speaker)

If you’ve ever been interested in our earth than do something to save the planet!!

#palm oil seems to be in all commercially produced breads. This leaves me with 3 choices, make my own bread, give up bread or compromise with sustainable palm oil bread. For now, I have bought some sustainable Palm oil bread, I need to work out if making my daily bread can possibly fit into my daily routine. I’m finding the only way to really do this is shopping more and eating fresh ingredients. I was looking at ice cream for the family because it’s a sunny day and that was full of Palm oil too!! When did this happen? I’m sure it’s possible to make all these things without Palm oil, I’m not sure I can face making my own ice cream too though, I think it has to be iced lollies all round this summer…

Hey, everyone! “Ecosia” is a search engine where every search helps the planet. They have projects going on constantly to help reverse deforestation and simply help people in need. I’ve already searched over 500 things, which is around 11 trees I’ve helped plant!

This isn’t sponsored at all; this is just something I truly stand for. They spread awareness of the dangers of palm oil and many more destructive activities humans bring upon this beautiful Earth.

If you can, please download the app. It’s completely free to download and free to use. You can read about their projects on the home page.

I haven’t bought a shirt yet, but I’ve looked at them, and they’re super cute. I’m not really the one for buying tees, but I have to get one of theirs.

Thank you for reading. Please consider.
