#ecosia

LIVE

I’m completely not a winter person. I lost all my motivation at winter. Can’t wait for the spring ☆

Anyway winter this year is so warm I’m afraid of what summer brings us. I’m scared of the drought.

Here are some tips that help us prevent the drought

  • save as much water as you can
  • don’t mow your lawn too often the grass is natural water store ;)
  • also try to  protest against mowing grass in parks and removing green areas
  • save trees, support organisations planting trees, use ecosia
  • plant something in your garden or your area ;)
  • recycle!
  • help to clean up the Earth
  • go less waste ;)
  • avoid consumerism
  • reduce your screen time ;)
  • eat less meat, try to grow your own food
  • when it’s hot water your plants with rainwater and greywater

Together we can make a change!

Here is where I will keep a regularly updated list of eco-friendly initiatives and companies that are fighting against climate change.

KEY

 =I actively support

=I research often or keep up with almost daily

= I cannot support because you have to be an employee, because I cannot afford it right now, or because its still in development

= I would like to support in the future

1.Ecosia (search engine, plants trees, negative emission, transparent)

2.The Ocean Cleanup (initiative, cleaning the oceans of plastic, unsure about emission, transparent)

3.4ocean (bracelet company, cleaning the oceans of plastic and recycling them into bracelets, unsure about emission, transparent)

4.AIR-INK (ink company, turning air pollution into artist quality ink, unsure about emission, unsure about transparency)

5.Patagonia (clothing company, slow fashion brand, I think they are zero emission, transparent)

6.Everlane (clothing company, slow fashion brand (some of their clothes are made of recycled water bottles), unsure about emission but I think its low, transparent)

7.Athleta (clothing company (activewear), sustainable fashion, unsure about emission, unsure about transparency, unsure about ethical treatment of employees (do some research))

If you’d like to suggest any companies/initiatives to add to the list, or would like to correct any info about them, please leave a comment :)

Here is your regularly scheduled PSA about things mass media is ignoring!

THE FACTS

1. An alarming 200 frog species have gone extinct recently, and we are on track to lose another hundred in the next century (ecowatch.com), this is enough to classify this as a mass extinction which is when nearly every single species of an organism ceases to exist any more (usually due to external environmental pressure)

2. This is not just happening locally. Frogs are dropping on every single continent that frog populations are found.

3.  The two main reasons for this are deforestation and a new pathogenic chytrid fungus calledBatrachochytrium dendrobatidis that is particularly prevalent in Latin America

4. “…reptiles and amphibians are going extinct at 10,000 times the rate of other organisms.” (published by John Alroy at Macquarie University in Australia)

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Read up! Ignorance isn’t pretty, and will not help the situation whatsoever. Get well versed in the topic and spread the word :) Not much is known about this topic at the moment so any publicity is great. (I’ve included a section of links below to help you if you are so interested)
  • Help prevent further deforestation! Plant trees with the browser Ecosia or stop supporting companies that thrive off of it (buy recycled paper for instance!)

As always hmu with questions! Thanks for reading :)

Hey, everyone! “Ecosia” is a search engine where every search helps the planet. They have projects going on constantly to help reverse deforestation and simply help people in need. I’ve already searched over 500 things, which is around 11 trees I’ve helped plant!

This isn’t sponsored at all; this is just something I truly stand for. They spread awareness of the dangers of palm oil and many more destructive activities humans bring upon this beautiful Earth.

If you can, please download the app. It’s completely free to download and free to use. You can read about their projects on the home page.

I haven’t bought a shirt yet, but I’ve looked at them, and they’re super cute. I’m not really the one for buying tees, but I have to get one of theirs.

Thank you for reading. Please consider.
