We love pickles and that does not just mean cucumbers. Pickled okra, green beans, baby onions, beets- and our new true love; pickled asparagus. We pick the asparagus every day and keep it in 2’“ water until we have a few quarts. Longer spears can be snapped in half and with ends placed in water and stored in the refrigerator. i am moving out of my share house into my own place this friday (!!!!!!) but here are some nice things i made recently in my current kitchen (for 3 more days)…
pickled cherries / bitters prepping
chamomile grown in my garden & dried in my DIY tiered dryer, foraged mulberry vinaigrette, infused calendula oil, mulberry rosella cordial / mango and lime curd
Pickling some cucumbers to make homemade fried pickles in a couple of weeks and also tried out pickling some broccoli and jalapenos today! Don’t mind the @thestreetpumas rum in the background, we maybe started early on the cocktails today . . . . #homemade #pickles #vegan #masonjar #eatyourgreens #healthyeats #goth #grunge #vegansofig #motd #mua #astoria #meow #caturday #diy #washyourhands #quarantine #pickling #nomnomnom #getinmybelly (at Astoria, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-kenOXhnEt/?igshid=h5wacn6nj3tl
I have shamelessly stolen this recipe from lazy cat kitchen but have swapped out the rice vinegar with mirin and the schezuan peppercorns for black peppercorns! I would HIGHLY recommend.
