…I heard Pride as Takahata101’s Perfect Cell voice. XD

Okay, I love this, but the Heavenly Virtues would totes be down with what the Sins be doing. It’s the CapitalVirtues that are in opposition to the Deadly Sins…

A screencap from Wikipedia reading: The seven capital virtues (also known as the contrary or remedial virtues) are those which are thought to stand in opposition to the seven capital vices (or deadly sins). Prudentius, writing in the 5th century, was the first author to allegorically represent Christian morality as a struggle between seven sins and seven virtues.

While the Heavenly Virtues are Temperance, Justice, Prudence, Fortitude, Faith, Hope, and Love (or Charity, if you’re using the King James bible).

The only HV on the CV list is Temperance (and Charity, if using the King James bible).

The “current” Virtues vs Vices list is:

A table from Wikipedia listing Virtue, Latin Name, Sin, Latin Name. The Virtues and corresponding Sins are as follows: Chastity and Lust. Temperance and Gluttony. Charity and Greed. Diligence and Sloth. Kindness and Emvy. Patience and Wrath. Humility and Pride.

So what if…

  • Lust acts as his wingman and encourages him to get out and socialize (“Who cares if they’re single, or looking, or whatever. Let’s just go and talk to pretty people!”)
  • Gluttony (as above) keeps him eating regularly, and eating well (“You need to eat something. I’ve made mushroom risotto, ceasar salad, and honey-glazed asparagus. Take as much as you want. There’s cheesecake for dessert. Yes, you have to eat at least a little of everything. No, a protein shake isn’t ‘good enough.’”)
  • Greed won’t let him volunteer for/take on more stuff, regardless of who it’s for. (“I don’t care that your boss can’t find anyone to work this weekend. F*ck that guy. The weekend is your 'me’ time.”)
  • Sloth works closely with Greed to keep him from overworking himself. (“Seriously, who cares if all you do on the weekend is watch cat videos and TikToks. It’s none of his business what you do in your free time.”)
  • Envy is the only Sin he’s familiar with, but in keeping with the rest of the fam’s efforts, E starts pointing out aspirational people. (“Check out this guy, he decided to learn how to paint at 78. 78! Crazy, my dude! I told you, it’s never too late to learn something new!”)
  • Wrath is all about teaching him to not take anyone else’s sh*t. (“So, what do we say when X complains that you aren’t free this weekend? No. Don’t just apologize! Be firm. You have the right to do your own thing, and if they can’t handle that, than they aren’t worth your time.”)
  • Pride (again, as above) is all about the self-confidence and recognizing his worth. (“You are allowed to take up space. More space. C'mon, you can do it. Stand tall. Chin up. Channel Charlize Theron. Think 'murder.’”)

The Capital Virtues are nosy busybodies who justify their meddling as “preventative” because “eventually it’ll go beyond self-care.”

Temperance calls in the Heavenly Virtues when the CVs fail for the umpteenth time to stop the Sins, only for the HVs to throw in with the Sins…

I still want to write the fic where an outsider has all these preconceptions about what the Force is and then goes into a room with a bunch of Jedi who are tearing into each other like bitchy old academics.

“Ooh, look at Master Structuralist over here with his ever-so-deep ‘everything is attachment actually’ reading”

“I don’t want to hear that from someone who calls every new opinion ‘new depths of their relationship with the Force’”

“The Jedi Order is a social construct–”

“Could you stuff the po-mo and pick up a book once in a while? These aren’t new ideas! You are not a pioneer because you asked one question!”

“I think you could all benefit on more reflection on how our rooting in the Force is actually deeply sexual–”

“If I have to hear one more word about lightsabers being penis envy you are going to be one with the Force immediately.”

#I’m 100% into this and want annual conferences about the force and what it means to be a jedi#everyone keep asking very passive-aggressive questions after every presentations#at one point a lecturer says ‘I know this because the Force told me so’ instead of listing their sources and the whole room groans#a scholar who isn’t force-sensitive shows up and half of the jedi are like ‘who even is this guy’#a LOT of rage is being released in the force at the same time#the only moment everyone in the room makes an appreciative noise is when the lunch break is announced#a huge debate blows up during the break because someone mentions it could be good to invite a nightsister next year#someone storms off mumbling about heresy and not taking part in this debacle@obiwanobi

yes please I need more jedi symposiums with knights who had different views than consulars who have different views than shadows. Temple-centered jedi versus those who lead frequent diplomatic or medical missions versus exploratory and research jedi who spend most of their time in uninhabited wild space and the outer rim.

There is absolutely no way an organization that large doesn’t have factions that understand the force differently–my 15-person philosophy class couldn’t agree on a single thing we read all term.

Anakin shows up once, pulls up his PowerPoint and it just says “I am the Chosen One.”

The room immediately turns into chaos.

dear god why would you leave this in the tags

#Obi wan was pissed that his past presentation on Jedi/Mandalorian cultural parallelism was laughed out#so he put Anakin up to it just to send the room into a tailspin#Anakin LOVED it#he got to sword fight an eighty year old snake#and force chuck a dude into a wall#he officially never misses one of these anymore#every year he just goes up and says the most controversial thing he can to get the room to riot#the year after its ‘the more midichlorians you have the closer you are to the force’#he almost got stabbed by an old monk from the far side of dantooine#for that one#the council keeps letting him speak because it’s way less embarrassing to blame the fights on Skywalker#than admit everyone at an academic conference wants to murder each other#they did get a Nightsister to come to the conference btw#it was very enlightening and everyone liked her#the problem was that Anakin’s presentation that year was#‘master/student bonds are no different than lovers bonds in the force’#and#the Nightsister took REAL offense to that#Anakin is like 30% sure he got cursed#totally worth it for the look on Obi-Wan’s face tho#the Nightsister came back the next year#she brought friends!#they’re not sure if she did that because they were interested in the academics or if she wanted backup to beat the shit out of Anakin#but the council likes both cases#so they see this as an absolute win!

Yoda was banned and no one will talk about why

It happened six hundred years ago so no one knows but theories range from “he ate all the snacks” to “he personally instigated a duel meant to settle whether channeling the force through combat meditation is more effective than through regular meditation but the duel got out of hand and everyone but him lost at least one limb”

the truth is that he was never actually banned, he’s just been saying it so he doesn’t have to go. he started all the rumors himself

Hey Sparks! Mod Ellie here with a short music-based writing exercise.

- hit shuffle on your music library.

- listen to the first song that comes up for anything that sparks inspiration. It can be a specific lyric, the mood the song evokes, a character the song inspires, a setting in which you would hear the song – anything.

- write a short story based on the inspiration you found in the song.

I want a plot that goes like this:

Muse A had a perfect childhood, all cupcakes and rainbows and incredible wealth of his parents to bask in - until someone sent a group of assassins to slaughter his entire family. His father, mother, grandparents, siblings, cousins - everyone who was at the big family reunion in their family home that night. Except that somehow, the assassins were misinformed about the number of people who’d be present there which allowed for the Muse A to slip away somewhere and hide once the massacre began and somehow survive it.

Obligatory time-skip to the present, where Muse A is all grown up, raised by some foreign intelligence forces into a skilled assassin of their own. Over the course of the time, he’s learned that the person who ordered mass-murder of his entire family is now a Senator or a Governor or whatever strong political figure - and he has a son or daughter of their own (I originally imagined this as a m/m plot, but I guess I’d go for m/f too). There are some political games involved, confidantes betraying one another and whatnot and it all leads to the politician being convinced that someone’s after their kid, Muse B, so he hires Muse A to befriend their kid while simultaneously keeping them safe. The politician found Muse A by recommendation from domestic intelligent forces - cue to the fact that Muse A is actually a double agent, also hired to kill Muse B and their father.

But,of course, Muse A andMuse B fall in love with one another which ultimately leads to a series of dramatic, angsty events including: Muse B finding out that their friend is actually nota friend, but someone sent to watch over them - so they’re now wondering whether their friendship and potential romantic feelings were real at all, all along? Father of Muse B thinks the fact that their kid found out is actually gonna jeopardize this whole mission, so they want to get Muse A replaced, which gets the foreign intelligence forces to request urgent murder of Muse B - butMuse A is already so hooked on them, how is he supposed to do that? And then, maybe the countries are even working together rather than against one another, so the domestic intelligence forces want Muse B dead as well, so Muse A is left fending both of them off from this international threat, while Muse B is still oblivious to the fact that their loved one is actually supposed to kill them.

BASICALLY IT’S AN ANGSTY MESS, PEOPLE ARE PLAYING DOUBLE, TRIPLE, QUADRUPLE ROLES, NO ONE’S TO TRUST ANYONE, THERE’S GONNA BE A WAR AND TWO BB’S IN LOVE AGAINST THE MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE OF TWO NATIONS. GIVE IT TO ME.

griseldajane:

Legolas thought he had no one to help him prepare for his patrol, but it was a foolish thought. Even though his kingly duties were many, Thranduil would always be there for his son.

Hair braiding Thranduil to the rescue! While the plaits were plain, I am certain they were perfect, and that Legolas felt the love and care Thranduil put into them for the entire duration of his patrol. (No one can convince me that Thranduil did not show love to Legolas.)

(PS Looking for Thranduil and Legolas plot bunnies for NaNoWriMo this year.)
