and in that exact moment James broke. He’s loved Regulus for a long time, but now. Regulus staring into his eyes holding out his arm screaming and yelling. He can’t feel it. The warm sensation deep in his heart that seers mine. It’s not there. Oh how it’s not there. He promised himself. To always chose love and he’d really been naive enough to think he could do that. To continue choosing love when it’s not there. It’s not there. The love he’s felt for Regulus isn’t there. Oh, oh when did this happen. Regulus is looking at him obviously expecting an answer for whatever it is he’s said and all James can think is. I don’t love him. I don’t love him. How can i not love him? And then he looks into Regulus eyes and whatever it is he sees back he doesn’t recognise it. This person infront of him is a stranger. The sharpness the coldness and that mark on his arm, this human is a stranger to James. Yet he knows this stranger in an out, his fears, his dreams. Can all that’s left of them be memories? because in those eyes his own reflection stares back at him and maybe he’s a stranger too.

It’s only now James wonders if Regulus has any love for him left. Nothing about Regulus is familiar, so whats to say anything about James is? Had Regulus already stopped loving him long before James?

How did we turn into this Reg? How did we become this?

“Potter do you even hear me?” Regulus sneers

“Back to lastnames are we?” His smile doesn’t fit right.

“Do you seriously have nothing to say beyond a silly joke?”

James doesn’t know how to answer this. Honestly what is he supposed to say? Regulus joined a hategroup but James should talk? Oh love

“when did we become this Regulus? When did we break”

“You can’t save everyone James i told you that. Look at yourself look at us. We were never meant to meet but I was selfish and now i’ve ruined you. Did you enjoy it feeling like you were saving me? Did you enjoy breaking-” He’s grabbing his hair and his eyes are filling up

“Iloved you. I really fucking loved you Regulus. You didn’t have to take that mark you could of gone to me you could of lived with me and now it’s on you already. Why did you take it?” James knows he sounds desperate

“Guess what James-” he leans in closer looking frantic his eyes twitching “-I wanted to” for maybe the third time this evening James heart breaks. Silence falls between them.

“Goodbye Regulus” he knows now. This is the last converation he’ll have with Regulus.

The Blood in Our Veins

(gif not mine)

The day Y/n Y/l/n found out the boy she loved was going to get married to somebody else felt like the saddest day of her life. She felt as if she hadn’t knew sadness before. The feeling held Y/n by the throat, messed with her brain, it was an almost visible dark aura surrounding her ever since she heard Regulus Black is marrying another girl.

Was it an arranged marriage? Most likely. Y/n could have expected that. She would have broken up with Regulus a long time ago only if he didn’t promise to never let his parents arrange a marriage for him. Why did she believe him? Of course they were both two carefree teenagers back then, who didn’t know anything about the struggles of adult life and of course they had no idea what would their future look like.

Y/n was disappointed in Regulus, but she was furious with herself. She despised herself for letting Regulus get close to her, for falling for a boy like him. They were from two different worlds, they were nothing alike and Y/n was aware that purebloods like him marry other purebloods. No matter what, eventually they always end up in an arranged marriage, most likely with some cousin since there was not many families to choose from and all purebloods were related by now.

How could she be so stupid? She should have known better. There were other boys, everything would have been so much easier now if back in school Y/n never spoke to Regulus. He seemed to be so lonely, so Y/n decided to talk to him, they quickly became friends, which was quite surprising to most people, but what shocked people more was the day when they seen Y/n and Regulus holding hands. The couple never kissed when they were surrounded by other students, but they made it obvious they’re dating.

“C'mon, Y/n/n, you can’t spend the rest of your life in bed,” Sirius walked into the room Y/n was asleep in, trying to wake her up, “at least step a feet outside of that room.”

Sirius talked loudly, but it didn’t help him in any way. He couldn’t tell if Y/n is still sleeping or not, because her face was buried in a huge pillow. The man decided to open the curtains to let some light inside the room.

Sunrays crawled on the floor, the bed and on Y/n’s skin. At the moment it wasn’t very pleasant, Y/n preferred to stay cold. She let out a sound of annoyance and pulled her duvet over her whole body. It would get hot in a few minutes, but at that time it was cool.

A sigh left Sirius’ mouth. He stood there for a few seconds with his hands on his hips, looking at Y/n and having one idea in mind.

“Y/n, I’m being serious right now, I don’t wanna see you rotting in bed because of my brother,” he grabbed the end of the duvet and threw it off of Y/n.

“Leave me alo-”

Y/n wasn’t even able to finish her sentence before Sirius grabbed her by the ankles and pulled to the floor.

“What the hell, mate?!” Her voice was raspy and annoyed when she yelled.

Now that neither pillows nor darkness couldn’t stop Sirius from taking a look at his friend’s face, he could tell she looked like a different person. Just a week ago she was glowing, now her face was emotionless and puffy from all the tears she had cried in the past few days. It was as well obvious that she haven’t washed her hair in quite some time, not that she cared to do it. But Sirius had a plan. And for that plan he needed to clean Y/n up.

“I’m sorry, Sirius, I should really go after him,” You frowned, watching Regulus stomp down the hallway, “He’s not as strong as you- or he- thinks he is.”

Sirius let out a sigh, nodding, “A raincheck, then?”

“A raincheck,” You said, “I’ll see you around.”

Then, you turned around, half jogging towards Regulus.

Once you caught up to him, you were practically panting, exclaiming, “Do you have any idea how long these corridors are, Reg?”

But he didn’t say a word.

“Giving me the cold shoulder, are you?” You scoffed, “I’m walking you to class, you know. Like a good friend.”

“Only after I walked off,” He muttered, arms crossed against his chest.

You rolled your eyes, grabbing him by the shoulder and stopping him from continuing to sulk, “Really, Reg? I was trying to be nice. Because he’s your brother and we were going the same way anyway. If you took it the wrong way, then that’s your doing, not mine. Your my best friend, Reg, I’m not going to leave you alone when you’re upset. Surely you know that?”

Regulus was hesitant to meet your eyes. He felt guilty, really. Had he prevented you from making a new friend? Yes. Was that new friend his brother who always seemed to overshadow him? Also yes.

He shook the thoughts out of his head, his eyes finally meeting yours, “I’m sorry, Y/N. I was being immature.”

You nodded, “Just don’t let it happen again, alright?”

The two of you started walking towards potions, his next class, when you asked the question you were dying to know, “Why’d you get so upset?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Come on, Reg, you know you can tell my anything,” You said, leaning your head on his shoulder, “Please?”

He shook his head, “No, I know you and you’re going to take it the wrong way.”

“Watch it, Black.” You hissed, taking a deep breath a moment later, “Tell me.”

“I was jealous, alright?” He frowned, “Sirius gets everything he wants. A spot of the Quidditch team, a group of friends. I was worried that once the two of you got talking, he’d get you, too.”

You sighed, “For starters, no one can "get me”. I’m not an object. Secondly, you’re my best friend. No one’s taking that title away from you. As for your jealousy, I’ll have to see about that one.“

His eyes widened, "See about what? What are you going to do?”

But you kept on walking, a smirk on your face as he chased after you.

“Y/N? Come on, tell me?”

He stopped in his tracks as you kept walking, calling over your shoulder, “Are you coming or not?”

Then it hit him: he was chasing after you. Like always. But if he could make the choice to spend his whole life chasing after you in exchange for even a moment with you, he’d do it in a heartbeat.
