It was another Tuesday. Another order meeting that so many members felt was becoming pointless. It felt as if they were getting nowhere and Voldemort was getting more ahead with each passing day.

“We have some good news for once.”

Moody grumbled as everyone took their seats. No one dared to say anything for a moment as “good news” did not happen often. It seemed bad news was all that any member of the order was entitled to. Dorcas had been killed a week before and was laid to rest the day before the current meeting.

“Do I dare ask what kind of good news are being privy to?”

Sirius asked. He didn’t want to bury another childhood friend. Hell, he didn’t want to bury anybody but funeral and burial seemed like just another occurrence….and he hated it. Moody nodded curtly as he leaned back in his chair.

“It seems Voldemort is taking up some darker magic than we expected…”

“Well, that sure is some good news.”

James grumbled from his place beside Lily. Moody shot him a dark look before continuing.

“If you lot can keep your opinions to yourself for a moment that would be great. As I was saying, Voldemort has apparently taken up making Horcruxes.”

No one in the order made a pleased as punch face upon hearing this information. Sirius leaned back in his chair muttering a quiet “fuck.” He wasn’t sure how Moody considered this good news but here they were.

“With this knowledge, we at least have a method of getting on upon him. I currently have someone working on tracking and a method of destroying the shit.”

Moody continued. James poked a hand up. He wasn’t about to interrupt Moody twice in one night and get hexed.

“How exactly do we know this is happening and who is working on this?”

Moody leaned back in his chair. He knew the next few moments were going to be some of the tensest moments in some time.

“We have someone from Voldemort’s side on our side now.”

No one dared say anything for a moment. Someone deflecting from the death eaters was unheard of. No one was brave enough to. It would have been suicide.

“Dare I ask who it is?”

Marlene commented. Moody stood up and walked to the door. The room was silent as the grave until the moment Regulus Black stepped in with you at his side. James, Sirius, and Lily’s mouths dropped. This was the last thing they EVER expected to happen! The last time that James had spoken to you was the night that you told him that you loved Regulus and were marrying him. After one hell of an argument, James said that he would never speak to you again and you replied with a “fine if that is what you want.” Now here you stood looking just as you had the last time that James laid eyes on you.

“How can we trust them?”

Marlene snapped. Moody turned to the nervous-looking young woman.

“Because I don’t think if Regulus handing over a Horcrux would have happened.”

“He gave you one?”

Sirius commented. He was surprised that his own voice worked. Seeing his little brother in the same room was a bundle of emotions. Sirius was going between furious, heartbroken, and thrilled.

“Yes, I gave him one.”

Regulus said in his neat as a pin eerily calm voice. Moody motioned to the chairs at the table as Regulus wrapped one hand around yours and limped to the seats. Sirius watched quietly a moment before curiosity got the better of him.

“What happened to you?”

Regulus’ cold eyes rolled up to his brother. This would be the first time that the two brothers had spoken in years.

“I almost had my leg ripped off by an inferi trying to get the Horcrux. I don’t recommend it.”

Sirius sat back in his chair as the realization that Regulus was the one that discovered the Horcrux hit home. It wasn’t just him learning information. Regulus had put the puzzle together and gone after the cursed item himself.

You sat quietly at Regulus’ side. When stepping into the room, you glanced at your older brother for a brief moment before looking away. Seeing James was yet another painful reminder of being abandoned because you fell in love with the wrong boy.

“Why would you want to help us?”

Marlene asked, genuinely curious. It had been no secret to the order that Regulus Black was a death eater. In fact, it was information that nearly sent Sirius around the twist when he found out. It had taken James, Remus, and Lily to convince him to not go after his brother and shake some sense into him.

“Because you lot have no idea what you are dealing with nor do you know what you are getting yourselves into. Right now, everyone is grabbing something of value and heading for the hills. If you want to stop Voldemort then this is the way….this is the only way. You can believe what I’m telling you or don’t…it will be your funeral.”

Regulus commented as James turned to you.

“Y/n, is he telling the truth?”

“We wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t.”

You replied. It felt strange talking to James. Hearing him say your name was thrilling yet painful at the same time. It made you feel, if even for a brief moment, as you had as a child. You had an older brother who loved you and wanted to see you do well in life.

“I don’t know why you would bother asking me though. I’m as bad as he is…in your eyes.”

You added. Regulus’ eyes flickered to you. The two of you were in agreement that neither party wanted to be involved with the order. Neither of you wanted to deal with the questioning and judgmental gazes but this was the only choice that you had. This was the only way to get rid of a madman that no one would have the knowledge of knowing how to kill.

James meanwhile ran a hand over his face.

“That’s not true.”

Regulus turned his attention to James. He would have been fine with going over and kicking James in the face or hexing him to kingdom come. Regulus had been the one that cared for you the past few years. He had been the one to see you go through inner hell because your family wanted nothing to do with you any longer. It had all been him. Now here sat big-headed James-fucking-Potter acting as if he were some typical older brother and was talking to you as if it were any other day.

James wasn’t there when you didn’t get an invitation to his and Lily’s wedding. He wasn’t there when you read the birth announcement in the Daily Prophet about their kid’s birth and cried for days. That was all Regulus. He was going to make god damn sure that James never hurt you again.

“Denial at its finest.”

Regulus commented. James turned to Regulus.

“What are you talking about, Black?”

Regulus shrugged before sneering at James.

“Denial is not just a river in Egypt, Potter. You haven’t spoken to your sister in years. None of you have. You call yourself friends? None of you have had anything to do with Y/n from the moment that she agreed to marry me. If you were any kind of brother, you would have dealt with it because I make your sister happy. With friends like the lot of you who honestly needs enemies.”

You wrapped your hand around Regulus’. The last thing that you wanted for him at the moment was to get too worked up. Since the incident with the inferi, Regulus’ had been permanently injured. His legs had never healed properly and he seemed weakened by the position that he was forced to drink. Since the incident, you had taken it upon yourself to care for him. Regulus had cared for you when you had no one; now it was your time to be the good wife and make sure he was well cared for in return.

James meanwhile was staring at the two of you with wide eyes. He wanted to make a comment. James wanted to call Regulus a sister stealing git who turned her to the dark side but he didn’t. Partially because Lily was squeezing his hand so tightly that he was about to lose circulation and also if he wanted to make any progress with you smarting off to your husband would probably be a shitty way to start.

“Okay, let’s just stop. We are all on the same side. Yeah, we have questions but insulting each other is getting nowhere.”

Remus commented from his place at Sirius’ side. Sirius had seemingly forgotten about his ability to speak as he stared at Regulus.

“He’s right. I don’t have the ambition to listen to family drama.”

Moody grumbled before continuing the meeting as if nothing happened. As far as Moody was concerned, the lot of you could work out your own issues when he was no longer there.

Once the meeting was over Moody turned to Remus.

“Sirius and yourself are to keep an eye on them.”

Regulus raised an eyebrow as Remus shrugged. Remus was not about to argue with Moody. It would get him nowhere.

“Keep an eye on us?”

Moody nodded coldly.

“You heard me right. I’m not saying that we don’t trust you but we don’t trust you. You have to earn that. The Horcrux is a good place to start but you both have a long way to go.”

Regulus clenched his jaw as all of the order members minus James, Lily, Remus, Sirius, and yourself sat at the table. Moody turned on his way to the door.

“Fix your shit and get over it. We don’t have time for family drama.”

No one said a word for a few moments. It was as if everyone was just waiting for someone else to say a word. Finally, Sirius decided to say something.

“So the inferi tried to turn you into a pretzel?”

Regulus raised an eyebrow. He wanted to say that he was happy to see his older brother but he wasn’t. Regulus was still bitter at Sirius for choosing the Potters over him. Leaving him in the horror house known as Grimmauld Place with expectations that Regulus never wanted was a poor way to be left.

“Something like that.”

Regulus replied. A silence fell over the room again.

“How’s mum and dad?”

Sirius asked. Regulus rolled his eyes for the 100th time.

“Mum is insane as always and dad is dead.”

“You seem so bothered.”

James muttered. Regulus turned to James with a dark look.

“We don’t all have lovely cozy relationships with our parents, Potter. Some of us have to deal with abuse and unfortunate abandonment. When dad had his heart attack that was another peaceful moment for me.”

Sirius winced. He knew that Regulus and Orion never had a great relationship. Regulus was the son that Orion never wanted and Orion was the father that Regulus was forced to deal with.

“What happened to him?”

Sirius asked. He had never heard exactly what happened to his father. There was an obituary (Where Sirius of course wasn’t mentioned) but no cause of death listed.

“He had a heart attack playing golf.”

Regulus replied. He couldn’t help but smirk at the look of confusion on his elder brother’s face. This was probably the last thing that Sirius ever expected to hear. In Regulus’ mind, Sirius was probably expecting Walbruga to poison him. That’s what Regulus would have thought would be the cause of Orion Black’s death if he wasn’t involved with the family any longer.

“I’m sorry but golf? Like muggle golf? Dad did realize that was a muggle thing right?”

Sirius question, feeling beyond confused. Regulus again nodded as if this was no weird conversation. To Regulus, this was just facts.

“I can’t say why he was investing time in that hobby. Mother thinks it has something to do with some skirt he was chasing. Anyway, there was a swan that dad thought looked at him weird….”

Sirius couldn’t help it but he started laughing interrupting Regulus.

“Merlin help me…a swan? What?”

Regulus blinked coldly.

“Yes, a swan. Apparently, it honked at him and dad decided to whack it with the golf club except his plan backfired. He had a heart attack and the swan lived.”

Sirius couldn’t help the laughter that came out of him. This was possibly the funniest thing that he had heard in some time. Even with Regulus, being as inanimate as inanimate could be, it was the funniest thing that Sirius had heard.

“Damn, all of those years mum spent trying to kill him and he was offed by a swan.”

Regulus wished that he could have laughed. He wished that he could have said that he found it amusing (because it was) but he couldn’t. Regulus couldn’t bring himself to show too much emotion around the people in front of him. Maybe in time, when he learned to trust them, he could but for now, all of his walls were up.

“We would like to be shown to a room. While this conversation has been amusing, Y/n and I are both tired.”

Lily got up quickly.

“We have a guest room upstairs. Dinner should be ready in an hour or so.”

Your heart ached to look at Lily and hear her voice. She had been the sister-in-law that you had always wanted. Hearing her talk brought back the same old wounds as hearing James and Sirius’ voices.

“Thank you.”

You replied as Regulus stood up. Neither of you said another word before leaving the room. Maybe in the coming months, you would find a way to heal old wounds but today was not that day.

The moment the bedroom door closed behind you, Regulus limped to the bed and sat down. You moved to sit beside him.

“Well, here we are.”

You said, keeping your voice down.

“Yes, here we are. Do you hate this as badly as I do? I feel like all of their eyes are upon us like a herd of wild jackals and we are the prey.”

You moved to sit on Regulus’ lap. Snuggling your face against his shoulder, you wanted to disagree. You wanted to say that they were just being careful and everything would smooth out but you couldn’t. Neither of you knew how long this feeling of “being under the microscope” would last. It could be a week, a month, a year, or even the rest of eternity.

“I hate it too, Reggie. I suppose we should get used to being looked at the way we were because it isn’t going to stop until they trust us.”

“Which could be the 12th of never.”

Regulus grumbled. He was again quiet a moment before focusing his attention on your pretty face. Regulus hated seeing you look so down and depressed. He hated it even more that he was the cause you were this way. If he hadn’t agreed to be a death eater, you would never had lost contact with your family. You would never have had to feel so alone and abandoned…but here the two of you were.

“Do you regret it?”

He asked. You frowned turning to look at your husband curiously.

“Regret coming here? We didn’t really have a…”

“No, Y/n. Do you ever regret marrying me? You could have had something different. Your family would have never done you the way that they did.”

You quickly leaned forward and pressed your lips to Regulus’ silencing him for a moment. When you leaned back he gave you a small smile that he reserved only for you.

“Regulus, I regret nothing. I married you because I love you. I’m exactly where I want to be…well maybe not in this room being judged by our siblings but I’m with you. If I didn’t want to marry you then I would have said no. As far as my family…I suppose it shows that the Potters aren’t so damn perfect after all. They made their choice just as I made mine….and I don’t regret anything.”

Regulus nodded before leaning forward and kissing you again.

“I’m sure all of this will end up alright…somehow. Your safety is worth being stuck in a house full of idiots that I despise. Maybe it doesn’t have to be so horrible. We’ll keep to ourselves and mind our own business.”

You moved to make sure the door was locked before pulling your dress over your head to change.

“Minding our own business is a great idea. Let’s see how long it takes one of us to go off on the lot of them. I say a day.”

Regulus raised an eyebrow before smirking.

“You are more generous than I am, love. I say an hour.”

You moved to join Regulus back on the bed.

“At least we have each other.”

Regulus wrapped a hand around yours and squeezed gently.

“For eternity”

“I hate you!”

You yelled, throwing an egg at Regulus.

“Hate to break it to you, sweetheart, but I hate you more!”

He yelled right back before ducking against your egg attack. The two of you had been in one hell of an argument since he made the comment about your anniversary not being too big of a deal. Regulus wanted to spend the day off with Evan doing Merlin only knew what.

“I should leave.”

You snapped as Regulus leaned against the counter and tried to count to ten. He needed to do something to cool the fuck off.

“Maybe you should! It would be god damn peaceful around here without you yapping nonstop.”

He replied. Regulus knew he didn’t mean it. He liked, no loved, you being with him. At the moment, he only wanted to hurt you.

By the look on your face, he achieved his goal. You stared at him before shaking your head.

“Fine. I don’t know why I wasted my time on you anyway for. I’m gone. I gave up everything for you and you give me nothing in return. Well, I’m done.”

You turned and walked out of the room without another word. As far as you were concerned, you were done with Regulus Black.

He’s only going to hurt you.

James’ words came back to haunt you. Your older brother didn’t want you dating Regulus. Hell, he pleaded with you not to. In James’ eyes, Regulus was a dangerous choice for a lover. After James found out that Regulus had a dark mark on his left arm, James lost all hope that he had in Regulus actually being a decent human being.

You decided to go against your brother’s wishes and follow your heart with the man with the perfect body. Now you were wondering if you should have done what James said and walked away. If you had, maybe you would be involved in the world’s dumbest argument over an anniversary that apparently meant nothing.

I wasn’t asking for too much. All I wanted was a romantic night that involved me wearing nothing but a diamond necklace.

You thought as you began shoving your clothes into a suitcase with an extension charm on it.

“Well, I’m done.”

You grumbled before looking for more things that you would take with you. Where you were going, you had no idea but at the moment you didn’t care. You would stay at the Leaky Cauldron until you made a safe plan.

Regulus meanwhile, downed a shot of fire whiskey before running a hand through his hair. Now that his temper was cooling he felt a bit bad for his usual difficult ways. He knew that he wasn’t an easy man to love. In fact, he had to be downright awful at points. A lot of it was his parent’s fault but a lot was his own. Regulus didn’t know how to be completely empathetic to others’ feelings. If someone was hurt or frustrated, he didn’t pick up on it well. It just wasn’t a talent of his. Now here you were, yet again, suffering because of it.

Clenching his fist, Regulus had to think of a way to apologize for being an utter ass. He was partially wondering if you were actually going to leave him? You head threatened it several times. What if today was the day that you finally had enough?

“Fuck”

Regulus grumbled before turning and running up the stairs after you. He had to damage control before things got too out of control (as if it wasn’t already).

When he walked into the bedroom, you were still putting clothing in a bag. You didn’t look up at your boyfriend.

“Y/n, are you really leaving over a stupid fight?”

“Yes. I have had enough. You don’t appreciate me. You don’t care about how I feel on anything. All I am to you is someone to keep house and put out for you.”

You didn’t look up at Regulus and see the look of shame on his face. He was treating you just like his father treated his mother. It was no shock that Walburga Black was bat shit insane. She wanted love from her husband and Orion Black had none to give. Orion Black didn’t know how to love. It wasn’t in his being to love. Now here Regulus was doing the same thing to the woman that he actually loved.

Regulus waited a moment before coming to stand in front of you. He reached down and took the pile of clothing out of your hand.

“Y/n, stop. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you. I didn’t realize that this anniversary thing was such a big deal to you. Don’t leave…”

“It doesn’t work that way, Regulus. You can’t just upset me than woo me back with pretty words.”

You moved to walk away from Regulus but stopped when his hand wrapped around your wrist. Looking up into his eyes, you realized that he was being honest. He was actually apologizing.

The two of you stood quietly before Regulus shoved his mouth to yours. Neither of you moved for a moment before you threw your arms around his shoulder and hiked your thigh over his hip. Regulus quickly backed you against the wall.

“I’m not touching you until you tell me yes.”

“Fuck me, Reg.”

You growled before yanking his shirt open and began to tug at his belt. Regulus laughed coldly before shoving you backward on the bed.

“You’re definitely getting fucked, you spoiled little brat.”

Regulus was down on top of you in the blink of an eye. He bit and kissed your neck while grabbing at your breasts. One hand reached up to yank your head to the side, giving him access to your neck. You gasped the moment his teeth locked on the tender flesh of your neck. Regulus waited a moment, panting, before sucking a rather large love bite onto your skin.

“All mine.”

Regulus growled before undressing you as quickly as possible. You were surprised that he didn’t tear your clothes…Before you could finish the thought Regulus was tearing your dainty lingerie to shreds with his bare hands. You lost a lot of lingerie this way but you didn’t mind. When Regulus was tearing it off, it meant you were about to be fucked…and Regulus knew how to fuck.

The first finger in your pussy made you gasp. You were dripping for Regulus and he was going for the prize quicker than you expected. Regulus shoved a second finger than a third in before you could process what he was doing.

“I’m about to come.”

You whimpered. Regulus removed his middle finger to tease your clit while continuing his assault on your body.

“Oh, you are going to come alright. I’m going to make you come on my fingers then you are going to come on my cock. I’m going to have you screaming until your throat bleeds from pleasure.”

Throwing your head back into the pillow, you moaned Regulus’ name to the point of screaming as your orgasm overtook you. Regulus finger fucked you through your orgasm. He only stopped the moment your breathing began to slow.

Removing his hand from your pussy, Regulus made sure that you were watching him as he licked each finger clean.

“I would love to shove my face in your twat but I want to fuck it more.”

The make-up sex between the two of you made the arguments worth it. When it came to make-up sex, Regulus was the king. Tonight was going to be no exception.

“I want you.”

You replied, hoping Regulus would take pity and push in. As much as you wanted to suck his dick until Regulus couldn’t take it, you wanted to fuck him more. Normally, the two of you enjoyed a large amount of foreplay but tonight was just not the night.

Regulus wasn’t moving fast enough for your liking. He hovered on top of you, supporting his weight on his hands.

“Put me where you want me.”

He said, his voice sounding more authoritative. You leaned up enough to brush Regulus’ lips with yours. Lying back against your pillow, you reached down to wrap your hand around Regulus’ cock. He gave a light moan as your hand tightened. You gave Regulus’ cock a few quick pumps until you felt the precum fall onto your stomach.

Guiding Regulus’ cock to your entrance. Regulus waited a moment before shoving his thickness deep inside of you. The two of you let out a moan at the pressure of Regulus stretching you open.

Regulus tried to remain stationary and not start moving too quickly but he couldn’t. Your little tight pussy was milking him for all that he was worth. Fucking you hard and fast wasn’t enough for Regulus. He needed you crying his name with a pulsing pussy to be completely satisfied.

“You’re mine and you aren’t god damn going anywhere. Your place is with me in our bed. Fucking take it, spoiled bitch.”

You moaned at Regulus’ words. They were passion-filled threats that made your twat clench around his thick cock.

“Harder, Regulus…please, love.”

Regulus laughed coldly before fucking you harder. He knew that the two of you would be coming hard within the moment and wanted to enjoy each second. The sound of skin slapping against skin filled the room as the two of you inched closer and closer to coming.

“Coming, Regulus”

You gasped as the sensation of coming apart overtook you. Regulus waited a moment before increasing his thrusts. He needed to come too. After an argument and fucking like the two of you just had, he was ready to fill you up.

Feeling Regulus come inside of you made your body clench around his once more.

“Baby…”

Regulus grunted before pulling out and falling down beside you. He was quiet a moment before turning to face you. Regulus stroked a strand of hair away from your sweaty face.

“So I was thinking…how about we get away a bit for our anniversary? Maybe go to some cozy little bed and breakfast and well…do more of this?”

You turned to snuggle against Regulus’ chest to enjoy the moment.

“I think that sounds like a wonderful idea.”

Another day, another secret…

You thought miserably as you plopped down in front of James and Sirius. Both boys looked up at you curiously. Over the past few months, both boys had noticed a change in your usually sunny disposition. You had gone from happy-go-lucky to moody and grumpy with little to no explanation of what was going on.

James gave Sirius a shrug. He was half considering bringing the subject up to Remus whenever he got out of the hospital. As your older brother, Remus probably had an idea about what was bothering you.

Sirius gave James a grin before speaking.

“Don’t you look like a ray of absolute sunshine this morning?”

You barely looked up when Sirius made a sarcastic comment. In fact, you didn’t comment at all. Neither James nor Sirius would understand what you were dealing with anyway. Why would they? Neither of your brother’s friends had to hide their relationship or feel like some dirty secret. No, that was all you. You were the one that was being treated as if you weren’t good enough.

Glancing across the grass, your eyes locked on Regulus who was quietly talking to Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch Jr. It took all you had not to march up to your boyfriend of a year and end it all…but you wouldn’t. You loved Regulus and that was what led to your current position.

A year ago you agreed to be Regulus’ girlfriend. You had been crushing on Regulus for ages and now that he wanted to be your boyfriend you were over the moon. The only thing was it came with a catch. Regulus wanted to keep it secret. He didn’t want word getting out that he had a girlfriend. He had his “precious reputation” to protect and somehow you would ruin that.

If I had any kind of spine I would have told him to shove off but no…I was so desperate for love and attention I made this stupid agreement.

When the door opened, the breath once again caught in Regulus’ chest. What was going to say to Sirius? Their conversations had been very limited. It was mostly Sirius begging Regulus to come home and Regulus saying no. Now they were going to be living in the same house together for the first time since they were teenagers and Regulus had no idea what they were going to talk about.

Part of him hoped Sirius wouldn’t bring up their childhood because that was the last damn thing that Regulus wanted to talk about. Another part of him did. The still bitter and angry part that Regulus kept under lock and key wanted to tell Sirius how angry (and heartbroken) he was that Sirius chose to leave. Regulus wanted to tell Sirius how much it hurt him to see his older brother living his best life with James Potter.

Sirius acted as if Regulus no longer existed after the night he left. He would walk right past Regulus as if he were just another face in the crowd. Sirius acted as if Regulus wasn’t the person that he sat trembling with huddled in a closet when their mother was on a warpath and looking for a punching bag. None of that seemed to matter anymore. Regulus was nothing to Sirius and that was how Regulus saw himself…nothing.

I’m not the person that I used to be nor is he…I need to give him a chance.

(Y/n) shoots up, not harming Madame Pomfrey but still causing her to take a few steps back in shock. “Miss (L/n), you must control yourself. Calm down.” The Matron’s own eyes are wide as she fumbles to flatten down her apron. Thankfully for the girl, her injury is not as bad as her soulmates, which means she can leave.

Her actions are quick as she takes a step forward and pulls away the curtain separating her from her soulmate.

Although she does not wish to acknowledge this, let alone confront him, she cannot deny the sting in her heart at the sight in front of her.

Regulus was making no haste in exiting the Hospital Wing, stumbling over his Quidditch bag that his teammates brought in. Common sense suddenly hits him as he places the strap of his bag on his shoulder, still clutching his injured arm to his chest.

Madame Pomfrey steps out, spreading the rest of the curtains, a gleam in her eyes, “oh, this is absolutely wonderful news, oh how I can’t believe that you have found your soulmates so young - Mister Black!” Her voice cracks, much shriller than before as she tries to follow after him, footsteps clicking, “I haven’t finished examining your arm. Yes, there is a bruise, but I haven’t checked the -”

(Y/n’s) brain muffles out the rest. She can’t describe how she feels because she doesn’t truly understand it. Why does her heart hurt for a man she wasn’t ready to meet? Her eyes begin to well embarrassingly, and she finds herself cursing the side effects of the ‘gift’ of having a soulmate.

She shakes her head, but her mind remains cloudy. What on Earth is going on?

~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday is far better than the day before for (Y/n) (L/n) as the sun shined brightly, and her head was clearer than it had even been before. She has heard of what follows after realising someone is your soulmate, euphoria, and joy.
Sunday was good - but not that good.
Today, Monday is already awful. The thumping migraine, different to any other she has experienced and the same she had on Saturday after the Hospital Wing, returned. Of course, this is (Y/n), and she would never chase after a boy, let alone Regulus Black.
“Oh, stop being dramatic and pay attention, (Y/n),” her friend says, scribbling down Professor McGonagall’s words whilst rolling their eyes.
(Y/n) glares, not taking her eyes off her own notes, “you don’t know what I’m feeling.”
Her friend’s scribbling quickens as they dig their quill further into the parchment at the same time, “exactly, at least you have met your soulmate.”
She bites her lip, pausing and turning to her friend, “I’m sorry, that was inconsiderate of me.” There’s a pause, and (Y/n) gently nudges her friend’s elbow with her own. “I should be - I am grateful that I have found my soulmate,” she gasps, forcing her friend’s gaze to meet her own, “we should find yours. I don’t believe that we aren’t meant to meet our soulmates around the same time.”
There’s another pause, and her smile falters. Then her friend chuckles, shaking their head, “you’re an idiot.”
“Regulus Black’s idiot.”
The two snort, shrill laughter soon following as the two realise the stupidity of the situation.
“Miss (L/n), (Title) (Friend’s L/n),” their heads snap towards the Professor, cheeks heating, “not only is it rude to talk ill of a classmate, but it is worse when talking about your soulmate."
If the entire class’s gaze wasn’t on them before, it is now.
"Miss (L/n),” the Professor’s look hardens through her glasses. Her cheeks are crimson as she turns in her chair to face him with a nervous smile.
Regulus Black wishes that the ground would swallow him up. This is something that he never wanted his mates to find out. Not only is (Y/n) weird, but her status within society and blood purity is…embarrassing.
Against his own will, he slinks into his chair, cheeks flushing as their gaze meets due to the quiet laughter of his friends.
His head begins to clear, the thumping also calming, which could only be due to his realisation of a clever plan that begins to form in his head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~

His smirk unsettles (Y/n) further.

Sighing, she decides to ignore the resentment that has developed from not only this situation but the laughter of his friends and his lack to defend her, “sorry.”

Professor McGonagall thankfully decides to take pity on her as she thanks her before telling Regulus’ dumb friends off and continues the lesson.

Her voice cracks at her next words as she resumes writing, taking a deep breath before whispering, “I cannot imagine the sins I must have committed in my previous life or lives.” Despite trying to crack a joke, she comes off rather sad, and even her best mate gives her a sympathetic look.

“Maybe it was a coincidence?”

“I hope,” she tries to joke again, but her throat gets caught.

(Y/n) (L/n) wishes that the ground will swallow her up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I detest how he makes me feel, all weak and with a constant headache,” (Y/n) whispers at tea, glaring at her plate in front of her as she ignores the flickering stares of everyone.
“Maybe one of the Slytherin’s pranked you. I can’t image why you would be put with him of all people,” their friend holds their fork in their mouth for a few seconds in thought, “I can’t understand why you are poorly.”
“Isn’t it obvious,” she sighs overdramatically, trying to ease her friend as well as herself, “he is cursing me.”
Her friend smiles, shaking their head, “it’s jinxing if anything as you’d be paler if it was a curse."
"Oh,” she turns to her friend, raising a brow at them, “I didn’t mean to offend you, Merlin.” She grins, fork and knife now placed together on her plate.
“Well, you have, young one,” they pull a face, looking down at (Y/n), the ends of her lips quirking every now and then.
~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~

Regulus’ gaze unintentionally falls on his soulmate, his stomach fluttering slightly, which only makes him want to throw up. His friends do not notice, more focused on the snide marks they’re making at the unfortunate Muggleborns in their house.

Once again, his headache clears, and the ends of his lips curl upwards at (Y/n’s) laughter. Why is he reacting like this? Why must she be his soulmate? Why of all people?

His parents are not soulmates, and they have done fine. This is only proof that he does not need her to survive, despite his body’s protests. Rarely in his family do they marry their soulmate, and he wouldn’t be surprised if some of them kille- he should not speak about his family in such a way.

Thankfully, this means that he can still carry out his carefully, formulated plan that his brother would most certainly admire; although, it is not as deceitful as Sirius’ tends to be.

However, it remains quite brilliant, although he does not wish to brag.

Well, technically it is not a full plan, more so research if anything.

Request: ‘Will u please write a regulus black x fem reader where they’re like quidditch rivals so they kinda hate eachother but at the same time they have a friends with benefits situation and one of them catches feeling but is way too scared to admit anything. But it accidentally comes out during a fight so they just kinda scream about how much they like eachother. This probably doesn’t make much sense but I hope u understand what I’m trying to say, hope u have a good <3′

I absolutely adored this idea. Please let me know if this is alright, plot wise and writing wise, haha. I am a bit rusty.

Warnings:  Swearing, sexual themes, poorly written almost smut scene (just grinding, not actual sex), (Also I didn’t say any genital words because I was getting second-hand embarrassment) complex and confusing Regulus. Reader being a smirking little sh*t at times.

“AND TEN POINTS FOR (Your house)! Well done (Y/n) (L/n)! IN YOUR FACE, BLACK!” The commentator shouts out, ignoring the disapproving look that Professor McGonagall sends their way as they cheer for their classmate.

 (Y/n) can’t help but smirk, quirking her right brow as she searches the skies for Regulus, squinting as the wind blows her hair across her face, and as usual, the second she looks over to him, he looks away. She enjoys getting at him, but so does he; he does the same to her after all.

Shaking her head, and with a roll of her eyes, she turns to her housemate, grinning ear to ear as they both fist bump both hands in the air. The stalls fill with cheers as she scores the first goal after ten minutes. (Y/n) is not one to brag, but she cannot help but act like the younger version of James Potter when it comes to the youngest Mister Black. She does not search for praise either, but it is entertaining getting at the boy, and she enjoys fuelling the flames. She ignores how the wind throws her hair in front of her eyes as she sets off again, robes flying behind her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What are you playing at?” A familiar voice calls as she heads down the clear hallway. Not turning, she continues, quirking her brow again as she subconsciously begins to play with the collar of her shirt.
“I’m heading to my common room to celebrate my victory,” she smirks, hearing the footsteps falter behind her before he huffs, and they speed up again. Her hair blows back as she walks past an open window in the passage, reminding her of the conditions of the game, which had started windy before turning into a torrential downpour - well, it felt like so.
“You did not win,” Regulus smirks, slowly down his steps to match hers as he comes beside her. “And that bragging on the pitch was incredibly dumb; you made a complete fool of yourself. It amazes me more and more each day as you continue to disappoint your family name.” He turns up his nose before wrinkling it further as the wind hits him, and he hurriedly attempts to flatten his hair.
“My family name!” She scoffs, “at least mine is full of good people and does not have webbed feet. And, I di -” She cuts herself short as she turns to face him, her cheeks flushing as (Y/n) watches him - although, (Y/n) would have preferred that it was her touching and griping at his dark locks, not that she hasn’t before.
“You know that I do not have webbed feet, you imbecile, and at least my magic is pur-”, He stops his grumbling for a second, lowering his hands as they come to a stop, “catching feelings, are we (L/n)?”
“Don’t be daft, Black, and I have seen your feet, you are basically a Merman,” she rolls her eyes, trying to ignore her cheeks that continue to flush a darker shade, despite her protests as she begins to walk again, clasping her Quidditch bag tighter in her hand. “Who’s making a fool of themselves now?” She musters the courage to turn to him again, ignoring the flutters in her belly as he matches her, quirking his brow with a smirk.
“Still you."
There are a few moments of silence, not entirely comfortable as (Y/n) finds her eyes darting back and forth to either side of her - fighting internally rather pathetically - while he only gazes at the floor, clutching his backpack tighter.
"Why are you here?” (Y/n) inhales deeply, biting her lip as she clenches her eyes shut. Wow, this is why she got bullied as a child.
He turns to her, eyes wide, but his frown turns upwards for a split second as he sees her expression; it falls before she opens her eyes and meets his, both stopping once again, this time inconveniently on a tower’s staircase.
Now, there are many ways that this moment could go. One, Regulus could confess his feelings, and the two can shag happily for the rest of their lives - or on this staircase at least. Two, (Y/n) could reject him, and everyone will find out, he will never live to see a day and will die of embarrassment as well as shame. Three, he could fuck up. Four, he could listen to previous advice his brother gave him on girls when he spoke to him - and fuck up.
“Want to fu- frolic?” He chuckles nervously. Curse his brother he almost listened to him - that is why his brother will die alone, unlike him.
(Y/n) makes a noise at the back of her throat, eyes wide, “we’ve been shagging for weeks, and you have just referred to it as ‘frolicking’?”
His lips curl, and he straightens his posture.
No, curse him for nearly getting nervous over (Y/n) (L/n) - as if! “Just wanted to make sure that you were still down; after that pathetic stunt you pulled as if you were better than me, you may have scored more than me, but unlike you, I can win a game.” She rolls her eyes, so what if he, the seeker caught the snitch, his team mate barely scored the extra ten points that got them to win; it is not that hard to catch a Quaffle and throw it. Her mouth forms into a snarl as she allows him to continue. “Why else would I come to talk to you, you idiot?”
“Ah yes, I forgot, I am the only girl who will allow you to fuck her.” She continues to walk again, and Regulus rolls his eyes, raising a finger to say his point, but she continues, not caring for him behind her. “How does it feel, knowing that the only girl who will let you shag her is a woman you hate?” Her eyes gleam as she spins on her heels, unable to control the words that continue, “a woman who sees you as a last resort."
There’s a pause as he freezes in his steps - having begun to go after her - she mirrors his actions.
"Fuck you.”
“Gladly.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Y/n) clenches her eyes shut as she grips at his hair, ignoring the slight sting as he pushes her against the stone wall. Oh, how she loves - sorry - enjoys his hair. How can it be so soft?

His teeth nip as her neck, as he places his leg between her thighs. With his right hand, he slowly slides it down her waist, leaving sparks of fire in its wake before gently curving it beneath her thigh as he lifts her to wrap her legs around his hips, her skirt now barely covering her hips. He groans, adoring the way her skin feels familiar and the heat that makes its way through his trousers; he gently begins to rub circles with his thumb before doing the same with his left hand, moving it from its position beside her head, pinning her to the wall.

Her breath wavers, the outline of his most private area pressed directly against the right place of her own, and her thighs subconsciously clench around his hips. He chuckles against her neck, beginning to pepper kisses along the entire length of her collarbone. Then, he rolls his hips, nestling his head in her neck as he elicits a moan from the two of them. (Y/n) bites her lip as he finally does it again, tightening her grip that is now on his shoulders.

He grins, glancing up to her for a second, enjoying her expression before repeating his previous motions, in the opposite direction across her collarbone, “No need to be quiet, (L/n), this wouldn’t be the first time that-”

“Fuck you.”

“Gladly,” he smirks.

Regulus Black glares daggers at his previously good friend Barty Crouch Junior (they were close until he realised just how creepy that boy was. Some people must get too comfortable, he supposes.) Of course, this does not mean that Barty lacks charisma, looks, or the ability to fool just about anyone - even his father. Bloody Crouch.

Regulus glances up from his book in the library as he attempts to catch a quick glimpse of the two who are on the opposite side of the table next to him. Despite the table being big enough to fit eight, Crouch must sit next to her. He nearly has a heart attack when Crouch turns to the laughing girl, tucking some hair gently behind her ear. Her cheeks are flushed, and he cannot ignore the way her hands tighten their grip around her quill. She may be enjoying this, but Regulus most certainly is not.

He goes to stand up, but he stops. (Y/n) isn’t his girlfriend, and she has free will. She can make her own decisions. She is simply a quick shag. Well, it’s never quick.

Her gaze ends up meeting his, and whatever she was about to say has quickly died in her throat. The golden glow of the sun reaches the window behind him, illuminating him in an awe-striking glow. She can’t help but smile, the incessant boy next to her long-forgotten, and despite his fury, the ends of his lips curl upwards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What are you playing at?” Once again, Regulus Black finds himself storming after the (h/c) haired pain in his arse. She ignores him, but he quickly catches up, coming to a stop in front of her.
She rolls her eyes and tries to step out past her, but before she can, he cuts her off. “You are not my boyfriend, husband, nor keeper. Please, be gone.” She sighs, and with a sarcastic smile, tries to step past him again. Of course, he does the same as before.
His lips curl as he glares down to her, “I think I should know who else you are sleeping with, seeing as you could be riddled with disease.”
She gasps, her own stare hardening into a glare as she bites back several rude comments,
“And what about you? I should know too.”
Why must he always confront her in empty hallways?
His snarl falters, as does his posture, “I beg your pardon.”
She continues to glare, taking a step forward, making him take a step back. “Come on, Black.
You want to know who I shag, and I want to know the same about you.”
He tries to ignore the sting in his heart as she basically confirms their relationship, and he shoves his hands in his trousers’ pockets.
“None of your business. I am of the Noble House of B - don’t roll your eyes at me!”
(Y/n) continues to step forward, making him stumble until the usual tables are reversed, and she has him against the wall.
“Fuck off and go shag, Barty!” His voice cracks a little bit, making his cheeks flush as he presses the palms of his hands against the wall. Thankfully, he does not embarrass himself too much as he maintains eye contact with her.
“Why? Want to watch?"
His cheeks flush just like hers already is, but he does not notice. "How dare you suggest such a thing! I am - I am -”
“You are what?"
There is a pause, and (Y/n) begins to grin, realising that she has won. He could lie and say he is shagging many, or he could…
He sighs, "I am only sleeping with you.” He groans internally, wishing he knew how to shut up.
She falters, eyes wide and cheeks flushing to a rosier shade, “liar.”
His eyes dart open, his jaw drops, “I beg your pardon!”
She scoffs, shaking her head at him before turning on her heels, heading away, flashing him two fingers as she leaves.
“What the fuck?” He whispers to himself, staring down to the ground. Then, he shakes his head, and this time, he runs after her.
To clarify, one of the Noble House of Black does not run.
“Who do you think you are?” She ignores him, continuing on. “You are infuriating.” She continues to ignore him, taking a sharp turn into a quieter route to her common room, as well as faster. “What is wrong with you.”
She suddenly stops, and he would have walked right into her had he not the quick reflexes from Quidditch. She spins on her heels, glaring at him. For a second, he freezes in awe of her beauty and fierceness, but he quickly controls it.
“What is wrong with me? What is wrong with you!” She takes another step forward, but he does not falter, continuing to stare her down, maintaining her posture. “I have been nothing but honest, and you are nothing but a nasty little boy!”
“Me!” He scoffs, crossing his arms across his chest, “I am always honest. You are dishonest!”
“Liar!”
“Stop calling me that!” They are shouting now, and it would not surprise either if their classmates could hear them squabbling now.
“ Fuck you! Then tell me a truth.”
“No, thank you!” Now, that is something that Regulus thought he would never say. “You do it first!”
“Fine!” (Y/n) glares, and she does not even take a breath before she says this, “I am not sleeping with anyone else; I never have because I love you!” For a second, she is proud, knowing she has demonstrated more honesty until she realises what she has said. Her eyes widen, her breath gets caught in her throat as her eyes begin to well slightly but not in an embarrassing way, like no way is she going to be (Y/N) and cry.
His own eyes widen, his heart stuttering, and before a moment could settle between them, he gently raised his left hand to cup her cheek, thumb wiping away a single tear that had escaped before curling his right hand around her waist. Gently he leans down, her own eyes gently closing, followed by this as his lips carefully meet hers.
Requests are now open! I previously wrote on Wattpad where I got over 200K views but I have since deleted my work due to the data breach and the fact I wrote it years ago and I believe my writing has improved vastly. (Well I hope so, lol).
Unfortunately, I am a bit rusty, which means I will only write the minimum of one thousand words per request. I also enjoy writing in detail, sorry if you do not like that.
I decided to keep my Secondary Blog as a Middle-Earth/Tolkien one!
I previously took a break, for personal reasons, but I have mustered the confidence to return. I apologise if I did not write your requests before, I feel awful, and please FEEL FREE to send them in again - there appears to be an error with my ask box and most of my requests have disappeared.
What do I write?
I write ‘x readers’.
I will also write for ships - for example, Harry Potter (as I know the most about the couples in it).  I will also write ‘Jily’, (for Harry Potter) because that is superior.
What fandoms do I write for on my main blog?
  • Harry Potter (all Eras)
  • Narnia
  • Netflix Bridgerton
What fandoms to I write for on this blog?
  • The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings
Pleaserequest here if you have any requests for these fandoms, same rules apply, or simply click on my blog on the ask button @daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin.
(You can ask me if there are any other fandoms I write for, but these are my main ones)
Rules:
I do have rules and limits, as there are things that make my uncomfortable.
:)
  1. I write for all genders and sexualities, as well as body types, etc. Discrimination is not welcomed here.
  2. No hate! If you don’t like my work, please don’t be rude about it. I have tried my hardest and whilst I appreciate constructive feedback, bullying and hate is just rude. I have never and will never attend to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable, I always try to put in the right tags also. If there are any issues, please put them in my ask box (however, it may be a few days until I reply as I don’t look in there until I have completed my current request) I apologise in advance and it is most likely due to an error or accident. Thank you :)
If I make an error, please message me privately - I once had an autocorrect issue where a tag went to ‘teddy lupin x male reader’ on my blog when it was for  a female reader as I was in a rush and did not realise I had already done the female tag. I am sorry again and an issue like this will never happen again, and I shall always double check from now on.
  1. I will never write anything underage so please request someone who is of age. I won’t mention anything triggering in too much detail as I don’t want to upset anyone. I will not write (describe) rape, it will always be consensual.
  2. If there is anything triggering, I will mention at the top. Remember, I love you guys.
  3. I am trying to improve my smut skills, but writing it does make me uncomfortable. I won’t write anything messed up, too graphic, dark, or kinky or to do with rape.
  4. Please do not copy or share my work in your own books or on another website! This is my hard work, and my writing. It should only be found on this blog. So please don’t. I find it very annoying and rude. (This includes futures and previous works)
  5. You will only find my work here. (I realise I emphasise this and I’m sorry)
  6. Please include the gender, and which person you would prefer it in as I don’t want to annoy you if I make an error (I usually write in third person but if you do not prefer this, please say so). It can also be very difficult to write without this.  Please include anything else which you find necessary to apply.
  7. When you request I will make it time appropriate to the movie or show unless stated otherwise. However, can you please clarify when you want it, for example, if the show spans over a number of years. If it isn’t necessary then I will just set it after. :)
  8. I will always try to use the spelling and slang from where it is set.
  9. Unless if I say other wise, your request should be posted within the week.
  10. Have a wonderful day. I can’t remember any other rules right now but it’s like 3am.
Thank you!
Author is always me on this blog: @daydreams-magic01and@daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin as I have decided to keep as a Tolkien blog for requests, and in that case only future Tolkien work should only be found on there, and all previous Tolkien work as well as all my other requests should only be found on my main blog. No where else.
Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.
Please feel free to request on my main blog unless you have any Hobbit and Lord of the Rings requests and wish to see me having a Tolkien blog, then do it on this one, haha. (That link is to my previous Lotr and Hobbit Masterlist).
Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.
  • The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings
Pleaserequest here if you have any requests for these fandoms, same rules apply, or simply click on my blog on the ask button @daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin.
(You can ask me if there are any other fandoms I write for, but these are my main ones)
Rules:
I do have rules and limits, as there are things that make my uncomfortable.
:)
  1. I write for all genders and sexualities, as well as body types, etc. Discrimination is not welcomed here.
  2. No hate! If you don’t like my work, please don’t be rude about it. I have tried my hardest and whilst I appreciate constructive feedback, bullying and hate is just rude. I have never and will never attend to offend anyone or make them uncomfortable, I always try to put in the right tags also. If there are any issues, please put them in my ask box (however, it may be a few days until I reply as I don’t look in there until I have completed my current request) I apologise in advance and it is most likely due to an error or accident. Thank you :)
If I make an error, please message me privately - I once had an autocorrect issue where a tag went to ‘teddy lupin x male reader’ on my blog when it was for  a female reader as I was in a rush and did not realise I had already done the female tag. I am sorry again and an issue like this will never happen again, and I shall always double check from now on.
  1. I will never write anything underage so please request someone who is of age. I won’t mention anything triggering in too much detail as I don’t want to upset anyone. I will not write (describe) rape, it will always be consensual.
  2. If there is anything triggering, I will mention at the top. Remember, I love you guys.
  3. I am trying to improve my smut skills, but writing it does make me uncomfortable. I won’t write anything messed up, too graphic, dark, or kinky or to do with rape.
  4. Please do not copy or share my work in your own books or on another website! This is my hard work, and my writing. It should only be found on this blog. So please don’t. I find it very annoying and rude. (This includes futures and previous works)
  5. You will only find my work here. (I realise I emphasise this and I’m sorry)
  6. Please include the gender, and which person you would prefer it in as I don’t want to annoy you if I make an error (I usually write in third person but if you do not prefer this, please say so). It can also be very difficult to write without this.  Please include anything else which you find necessary to apply.
  7. When you request I will make it time appropriate to the movie or show unless stated otherwise. However, can you please clarify when you want it, for example, if the show spans over a number of years. If it isn’t necessary then I will just set it after. :)
  8. I will always try to use the spelling and slang from where it is set.
  9. Unless if I say other wise, your request should be posted within the week.
  10. Have a wonderful day. I can’t remember any other rules right now but it’s like 3am.
Thank you!
Author is always me on this blog: @daydreams-magic01and@daydreams-magic01-mrsdurin as I have decided to keep as a Tolkien blog for requests, and in that case only future Tolkien work should only be found on there, and all previous Tolkien work as well as all my other requests should only be found on my main blog. No where else.
Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.
Please feel free to request on my main blog unless you have any Hobbit and Lord of the Rings requests and wish to see me having a Tolkien blog, then do it on this one, haha. (That link is to my previous Lotr and Hobbit Masterlist).
Please say if you wanted to be added to a tag list.
Disclaimer:This is a fanfiction, the scenarios, the reader, and the dialogue are all mine.
This should only be found on my blog.
Author is always me on this blog: @daydreams-magic01 .
A/N: Please do not copy or plagiarise this, or put it in your own book, etc. It should only be found here. Also, please mention if I should make a taglist and if you wanted to be added. I also tried by best at being British.
Also thank you to the Anon who brought the ‘x male reader’ tag to my attention, in my ask box, it was accidental and due to autocorrect, as I had it on, which I did not realise. I immediately removed it upon reading the ask. I understand how irritating it can be having the wrong tags and I apologise. From now on, I will double check. Have an amazing day ! :)
Thank you.
“Mate, she is my soulmate.”  Edward Lupin brags, removing his gaze on her for one second to his god-brother, “see, we are a match made in heaven."
James rolls his eyes, nudging him with his hip to get a better look at the courtyard below, "she is too fit for you, you lanky fuck."
Teddy holds back the urge to pull at the arrogant boy’s hair and instead decides to make a change, "but I can look like anyone, remember?”
The younger boy screams once he turns around, an identical boy with a smirk mirroring his own, “Merlin. Stop doing that, you freak. And I am too young, remember?” The older boy laughs, flashing the Potter the reversed peace sign before changing his form into an older, slightly different version of him.
James raises a brow, shaking his head, “not my Grandad, bro.” He looks down in shame, skin stretching as he grows an inch or two to return to himself. His hair remains black for another minute or so before flashing ginger and then turquoise.
“Hello, soulmate,” Teddy flirts, spinning around the pillar to appear in front of her. He flashes her a smile, discretely taking in her appearance of skinny jeans and a white top.
(Y/n’s) cheeks flush as she tucks some hair behind her ear, smiling up to him, “Teddy.” She takes in his appearance as he towers over her, clad in loose jeans, a black belt and a white button-up covered by a brown jumper. She thanks Merlin that it’s the weekend because Lupin looks extraordinary in muggle clothes.
“So, do you admit that I am your soulmate?” He crosses his arms, smiling, as he leans on his elbows against the wall.
“You aren’t, Lupin. Now, please, leave me alone,” she flashes him a smile, fed up with his constant need for attention, and spins on her heels. For years, he has been convinced that they are soulmates, but he is yet to figure out their soul mark. (Y/n), of course, already knows her mark.
“Mate, how can you get her when you don’t even know your soul mark,” Fred Jr laughs, shaking his head at his friend as he reads over his Herbology textbook. He can’t wait to meet his soulmate either, longing for the day that he can hold her in his arms, but at the same time, he isn’t ready.
Edward is very much ready.
The two are in the library, clad in their uniform, and they sit by the window, parchment and quills sprawled out around them.
“I’ll figure it out,” he beams, placing his hands on his hips proudly as he puffs out his chest. Fred raises a brow and glances at him for a second before looking back down to his book. He is surprised that Teddy hasn’t figured it out; almost everyone else has.
“Go on then.”
“Is that a rock?” (Y/n) whispers into his ear, making him jump. She laughs as he turns on his heels, rock still in his hand. However, his eyes still look panicked, making her frown.
“Hi.”
She looks behind him, to where he was aiming. Funnily enough, she knows that corner nook very well. Her eyes flash from the spot to him as her brows furrow, “were you trying to throw a rock at me?”
“No.” He flashes his teeth nervously, tucking his dominant hand behind him, dropping the rock. “Soulmates aren’t supposed to hurt each other.”
“You were!” She ignores the last part, not wanting to say something that she is later going to regret. “Why would you do that?” She throws her hands in the air, refraining from shouting out several profanities.
“I wanted to…” he whispers the next bit, making (Y/n’s) brows shoot up as she crosses her arms. He sighs and raises his voice, “I wanted to find out what our soul mark was.”
(Y/n) sighs, clenching her eyes shut, and she takes a step back, “Are you stupid?” His jaw drops, and he mirrors her actions. “Everyone knows that all soulmates are the same."
Sighing once again, she spins on her heels and walks away, leaving Teddy very confused.
Throwing his arms in the air, he shouts out, "what the hell is that supposed to mean?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~Please do not copy ~~~~~~~~~~~~

“You threw a rock at her!” Fred snorts, biting his lip to prevent him from laughing carelessly loud in the library.

Rolling up a piece of parchment, Teddy hits him over the head, holding himself back from strangling him. “I was going to. I didn’t actually do it.”

“Well, clearly, you aren’t soulmates if you tried to hurt her, you bellend.” Fred scoffs, shaking his head again at the foolish and eager boy. He sighs in relief once they exit, raising his voice to normal volume, “did you do that essay for Binns?”

“Yes, yes, I did.” Teddy clears his throat, shoving his hands in his pockets, “and I wasn’t trying to hurt her, you wanker, I was aiming for her leg.”

Fred snorts again, making the boys gaze flicker back at him as he scrunches his nose, “ ‘aiming for her leg’, my arse.”

“Hey! I wanted to see if we share pain.”

Fred freezes in the middle of the corridor and spins on his heels, the back of his shirt flowing slightly, “there are better ways to go by it.”

Teddy mirrors his actions, his robes swirling around him.

“You don’t say.”

(Y/n) screams, jumping back as a slightly muscular, lanky, curled body rolls out in front of her.

Teddy pushes himself up, throwing his arms around like a windmill as he looks out for her reaction.

“What. The. Actual. Fuck.” (Y/n’s) cheeks flush as she hears her friends giggles behind her, her own jaw dropped.

He suddenly kicks into the air, lips pressed together, causing her to jump back again.

After a few more furious actions, he stops, shoulders sagging, “it won’t work."

She doesn’t speak, not taking her eyes off him as he looks to the ground, sighing, "maybe we aren’t soulmates.”

When Edward Lupin stopped trying to throw rocks at her, doing flips in front of her and pulling up her sleeves, (Y/n) was relieved - a bit sad - but mostly relieved.

However, after barely days of watching him mope about and gaze after her, she has begun to feel rather sad.

“Hi,” she says, sliding onto the wall next to him. She watches as he looks up for barely a second before looking back into his lap, uttering a greeting.

Smiling sadly, she reaches her hand forward, shaking slightly, and places it on top of his. This time when he looks back up, he does not look back down. His brows furrow as a smile graces his lip, a contagious one which spreads to (Y/n).

She strums her fingers, and thankfully, he understands, spreading his fingers to make room for her own as they interlink. “All soulmates are the same.”

“Sorry?” He asks, his smile unable to fall, as he looks down at her.

“After the war, soul marks changed,” she explains, “I guess to boost the wizarding population, but now, it is easier to find your soulmates."

"I don’t understand.”

She chuckles softly under her breath, looking down at their hands for a second. She looks back up at him, her smile widening, “nowadays, most soulmates have an extra matching birthmark.”

His mouth forms an 'o’ shape, which falls as soon as she lifts her other hand to the back of his neck. He tenses, shivering as he pushes back some of his curly locks.

“If I am correct,” she starts, a sigh in relief following soon after, “Thank God.”

“What?” He asks, nervously turning to her as she places both hands in her lap, his fingers reaching out for a second to feel her fingers again before dropping on her leg.

She jumps slightly, heat flaring in her cheeks.

“It’s exactly what I thought:  all soulmates are the same.”

He raises a brow, freezing as she leans in.

“Soulmate,” she whispers, pressing her lips against his cheek.

summary: being a muggleborn dating Regulus meant you had to keep it a secret. When your older sister finds out she raises fear of heartbreak in both of you

♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~♡~

    You and your sisters had been born jealous. Petunia turned to envy first as the attention that had been solely given to her was split between two other daughters. She had always been bitter towards you and Lily, never forgiving you for interpreting her perfect young life.  She had taken your things, broken your toys and ripped your clothes trying to punish you for being born and turning her from an only child to the eldest.

    Lily was next when she realised she wasn’t the only one who could sprout fire from her fingertips. She had accused you of faking your magic for years, doing everything she could to best you even if she never fully understood her powers herself. Luckily she outgrew this jealous fit and by the time you shared a cabin on your way to Hogwarts she was beaming ear to ear.

    It was you who was last to realise what the burn in your chest really meant. The feeling came heavy like thick rain drops as you watched your sister fall so effortlessly in love. Each time she gave James a quick hug or leaned onto his shoulder your eyes narrowed, fury irrationally rising in your throat.

    This wasn’t because you wished James was yours instead. In fact you had considered him an idiot since you met him and would have rather drown yourself than date the loud mouth fool. You were instead jealous of the simplicity of their relationship. Envious of how they could be carefree, how they could dream of picket fences and happy futures. You hated that they could still be stupid kids. How they were given the freedom to make out in hallways and sneak into eachothers dorms with their worst consequence being a slap on the wrist and week of detention. Nothing hurt more than watching your sister live a simple life you knew you never could.

    You stared across the room locking eyes with Regulus for only a brief moment before his darted away. Charms was dreadfully boring, the lecture practically putting you to sleep, you knew you should have been paying attention, but watching the younger Black perform the spell with ease was far more interesting. The flick of his wrist was an addicting, dull look in his eyes far more attractive than it should have been. He had woken up late that morning, his hair messier than usual. You thought it looked adorable, the way a few strands drooped in front of his lashes. He only got cuter as he blew them from his face with a pout.

    “You have a staring problem.” Levi muttered from beside you.

    You rolled your eyes, “Do you ever mind your own business?”

    “Please, you make your thing for Black everyone’s business.” He muttered and you kicked him under the desk.

    Cussing at you he glared, leaning down to massage his bruising shin.

    You wondered briefly how he would have reacted to the reveal of your relationship with your “hopeless crush” as he liked to call it. The surprise on his face would have been sweet as honey.

    Regulus was watching you now as you continued to talk to your desk mate, he had never liked the boy, call it jealousy or anger, something bitter always rose in his throat when he saw you with him. Maybe it was because he knew your life would be so much easier if you had loved him instead.

    “I don’t get what you see in him anyway.” Levi said, looking across at Regulus whose eyes had quickly retreated back to his parchment.

    You grew brittle at the statement.

    “I mean I know he’s attractive but if it’s really about looks why not go for his brother?” He grumbled.

    You scoffed, “Please, Sirius is a piece of work.”

    “And he isn’t? I’m surprised he hasn’t called you a slur yet.”

    Rage bubbled in your stomach, your chest feeling hot, “Shut up.”

    Levi was either oblivious to the anger set in your tone or unbothered by it “I mean really y/n, you have a crush on a purist? It’s sickening.”

    You screwed your eyes shut in an attempt to stop the hot tears building behind them. You wanted to scream at him, slap him across the face and shout how Regulus would never do such a thing. You wanted to tell him how wrong he was, make him regret ever speaking such cold words.  But instead you looked away, wiping your tears as they came while your boyfriend sat across the room pretending you didn’t exist.

    You were used to it, you knew as a muggleborn dating a pureblood from a family like his would never be easy but the words still stung. That night you sobbed into Regulus’s chest as he held you in your usual hidden courtyard.

    As your tears soaked through his sweater he felt nothing but the cold grip of guilt. He had never meant to fall in love. He had known it was a mistake the second it had happened. Even now he knew he had been wrong and stupid and naive to let himself feel so deeply for someone he could never truly be with. He would never forgive himself for forcing you into the hellish life he lived with a simple confession. He hated himself every day for it, he didn’t deserve to indulge in his emotions knowing it would cause you nothing but pain. He didn’t deserve you and he had known that from the start.

    Yet every night you met, kissing under the pale moon until your lips grew numb. Everynight he found himself falling deeper and deeper into you until you filled his dreams and nightmares alike. So he forced you closer to him, knowing he would cause nothing but hurt. And you were so childishly in love you let him.

    Later as you lay asleep on his chest, legs tangled beneath a blanket he let his own tears go, silent apologies dripping down his cheek as he tightened his grip on your waist.

    Lily watched you from where she sat at her table, green eyes narrowed as she tried to read your mind across the dining hall.

    “Something is definitely off.” She mumbled turning to James who stared at her with a  dopey grin. “You haven’t been listening to a word I said have you?”

    “How can I when you’re so beautiful?” He murmured back and she scoffed, face darkening.

    Sirius gagged, “You guys are disgusting.”

    “Christ Black, how old are you?” Lily spoke with the roll of her eyes.

    He scrunched his nose and pretended to mock her silently only earning a sigh from Remus who sat beside him.

    “Something is wrong with y/n, I can just feel it.” Lily continued content on ignoring Sirius.

    “Maybe she’s dating that Callahan kid.” James offered. “There’s been tons of rumors.”

    Lily scoffed, “Please, she has told me multiple times she has absolutely no interest in him.”

    “A few months ago you were telling her you had absolutely no interest in James.” Remus offered not to look up from his book.

    Lily sputtered blushing heavily again, “That is completely different.”

    “Sure it is.” Remus drawled, eyes peering over the cover at her.

    Lily furrowed her brow, “But why wouldn’t she tell me? I mean I thought we’ve always been close.”

    “Maybe it’s not that serious.” Sirius shrugged, “Maybe they’re just fuck buddies or something.”

    Lily pulled back in disgust, “Don’t talk about my little sister like that!” she hissed as Remus kicked him under the table.

    “What? She’s almost 17! It’s not like she’s 12 or something, Godric.” Sirius complained and James threw a spoon at him.

    “You know if you’re really that curious we could always just check the map.” James said looking over at Lily who was trying to set Sirius on fire with her glare.

    She considered it for a moment, “Isn’t that kind of..” she paused “intrusive?”

    He shrugged, “She’s your little sister.”

    The sky was dark that night as you met with Regulus. The moon was new leaving only the blinking stars to light the ground beneath you.

    You grinned when you saw Regulus leaning against the small statue in the middle of the courtyard. You quickened your pace pulling him into a brief kiss as you met.

    “Hi.” You whispered against his lips and you felt him smile.

    “Hi.” He responded, hands on your waist pulling you closer once again.

You tasted sweet like the nectar of the gods, soft and tender in his arms. Your hair smelt of pomegranate, your flowery perfume engulfing him. There was nothing more addicting on this world than your lips.

You both pulled away breathless and grinning stupidly, “Your hair looks so cute like this.” You mumbled running your hands through it and tugging lightly on a curly lock that had fallen down his forehead.

Regulus practically purred, melting into your touch. He dipped his head low to hide his blush, lips skimming the skin of your neck.

You giggled as he mumbled a bashful thank you before nipping slightly below your ear. He was always careful to never leave marks that could be seen the following day. You wished he wasn’t.

You felt his hands on the back of your thighs lifting you off the ground. You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your nose in his hair as he walked until your back hit the wall of the castle. You scratched your nails lightly against his scalp and Regulus groaned. You gasped at the feeling of his tongue on your jaw as he pressed you further into the stone. Your legs now wrapped around his waist as he left sloppy kisses on your collar bone.

It was then you heard the shuffle of footsteps.

“Regulus.” You whispered and he broke away to look up at you, his lips red and glossy , “I heard someone.”

He slowly lowered you to your feet, “You sure?”

You nodded and you both stood silently, ears craning for another sign of life among you. After a minute you sighed, “Sorry, I must have been hearing things.”

Regulus just shook his head grinning lightly, “ ‘s fine babe.” words slurring, intoxicated by your taste.

Your lips reconnected, his teeth grazing your bottom lip as you began to work on the buttons of his shirt, tugging on his tie to loosen its knot. But there it was again the soft sound of feet, closer this time.

You both paused Regulus pulling away leaving your skin feeling cold in his absence.

“Who’s there?” He demanded into the darkness, wand lit.

There was no response and you grabbed his hand to pull him back to you. Regulus stood his ground so you leaned into him, lips ghosting against his ear.

“It’s probably just a mouse or somethin’.” You murmured hands coming back to undo the remaining buttons of his shirt.

Regulus glanced around once more before looking down at you, “You’re probably right.”  he said before he began to untuck your blouse, hands sliding slowly under it.

It was that which finally broke Lily, her vision going red. She stepped from beneath the invisibility cloak ignoring James’ protests.

You let out a small yelp as your sister appeared from thin air, Regulus who had his back turned to her immediately drew his wand pushing you lightly behind him. His eyes went wide as he found himself inches from your older sister. It was your turn to pull Regulus behind you.

“Lily, What in bloody hell are you doing here?”

When James sheepishly appeared as well you gasped, “What is wrong with you both, are you stalking me?”

Lily looked stern, her arms crossed, “Why are you with him?” she seethed.

Your eyes narrowed, “None of your fucking buissnes. Now take your dog and leave.”

Regulus almost didn’t believe it was you that was talking. He wasn’t accustomed to the harsh tone you used, your anger hardly ever directed at him.

“This is most certainly my business!” She spoke shrilly.

“It is most certainly not. Now get out.” You shouted.

“How can you expect me to leave when you’re getting all touchy feely with a purist?” She hissed, grabbing at your wrist to pull you away from the boy behind you.    You slapped her away so hard the sound echoed off the walls, “Call him that again around me and you’ll fucking regret it.” You growled.

Lily stepped back surprised by your sudden aggression but not backing down, “Please y/n, I’m just calling it as it. The sooner you realise that the better.”

Regulus felt his throat tighten as he listened, teeth biting into his lip as he had nowhere to look but his feet.

    You stepped closer to your sister inches from her face, “Leave.” your voice struck heavy.

    Lily responded just as harshly, “No.”

    James shifted behind his girlfriend feeling like he was intruding on the fight which was taking place. Sensing his awkwardness you looked back at him with a searing gaze.

    “Get out Potter, you have no place here.” You spat.

    He was planning on shuffling away when Lily turned back to him angrily, “No James stay.”

You scoffed as he did as he was told, “Fucking pet.”

“Don’t speak to him like that.” Lily scolded.

“You’re the one who’s calling my boyfriend a purist.” You growled your mouth bitter at the taste of hypocrisy.

“Because he is one!” She bit back. “You really think he actually loves you after being raised how he was? With a mother like his?”

Regulus felt like he had been slapped, his cheek stinging as the older girl spoke.

 “Don’t you dare bring up his mother.”  You were shaking with rage by now, your face streaked with angry tears, “And how dare you speak ill of Regulus simply because of his upbringing as if his brother isn’t one of your closest friends. How do you think Sirius would feel hearing what you just said?”

This took Lily back a step, her rage cooling a bit as she realised her mistake, “It’s different,” She tried to recover, “He isn’t with his family anymore. Sirius has already broken away from them. He made the choice any good person would.”

Regulus felt her eyes on him as she spoke. She was no longer interested in her sister and instead focused on him. He felt like he was choking under the pressure of her stare. When he glanced up to meet her gaze he inhaled sharply. He hadn’t seen such hatred in a long time.

Your lashes were thick with tears by now, disgust and fury morphing your face, “Go fuck yourself Lily.” You spat.

She ignored you, gaze locked on Regulus, she had no intention of speaking to you anymore, “You stay away from her.” she demanded, “If you truly love her you stay away from her.”

You shouted lunging forwards and shoving your sister backwards. She stumbled back catching herself.

It was you who fell, your feet tangling, forcing you to the ground. You hit hard, hands and knees scraping against stones and moss which made up the floor. You couldn’t find it in you to stand up simply letting exhaustion and misery take you where you lay. You shook with sobs, voice cracked and raw. Lily immediately dropped beside you, hands circling your neck as she drew you into a hug. You fought her as you always did but she held on, letting you beat her chest with your fists until you stilled.

Regulus took a step forward but was stopped by your sister whose glare told him everything he needed to know. Tears pricking his own eyes he stumbled past the two of you and disappeared into the darkness of the dungeons. He didn’t hear James shout for him over the sound of the ring in his ears. He wasn’t sure where he ended up, somewhere deep in the depths of the sprawling castle, dust coated the staircase he collapsed onto. Only there did he let himself cry, choking sobs rubbing his throat raw as he looked for someone to blame. His mother for forcing him into the terrifying world of dark magic? His brother for abandoning him in his abusive home? Or your sister for pointing out the truth he prayed you would never see? Regulus wished he could pass the blame off to anyone but he wasn’t stupid, he knew he had no one to hate but himself.

Regulus disappeared entirely for three days. Three days you spent desperately avoiding your sister who seemed just as adamant to talk to you again. You skipped meals opting for hunger instead risking meeting her in the hall. She would show up outside your classes forcing you to scramble out the back way or sprint away like a child running from punishment.

On the fourth day of your boyfriend’s absence you felt yourself beginning to panic. Fear of him never returning, filling your head with irrational thoughts. It wasn’t like you could ask around for him, your relationship needed to remain secret despite the difficulties you were facing. It was then Lily cornered you.

You stared at the redhead as she blocked your only exit. “Lily, move.” You sighed exhausted by the past few days, sleepless nights not improving your condition.

She didn’t listen, “Y/n we need to talk.”

“About what?” You scoffed, “I have nothing to say to you.”

“I just want you to understand why I,” She paused, “Why I said what I did.”

“I don’t care why you said it Lily.” You said, “I don’t care if you think you were protecting me or saving me from some hopeless relationship. I honestly don’t care.”

Her eyes swelled, “How can you say that? How can you not care? I love you y/n I just want you to be safe.”

You stared at her, “I just don’t understand why you couldn’t just let me be happy.”

“He’s dangerous.”

You shook your head, “No, his family is dangerous. His situation is dangerous. He’s not.”

“Y/n please.” She begged, for what you did not know.

“Just stay out of my shit Lily.” you mumbled pushing past her and back into the hallway.

You spent the night where you always had, the small courtyard hidden between two towers of the castle, a statue of a woman draped in vines and flowers at its center. The moon was a small sliver, a dusting of clouds blocking the stars from your view. The shuffle of footsteps brought your eyes from the ground.

There stood Regulus, his face shining in the pale light. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, nose pointed at the floor as he refused to meet your gaze.

You stood quickly throwing your hands around his neck. He leaned into your touch burying his head into your shoulder as his hands found your waist.

You smelled delightful as always, your lips soft against his cheek and hands in his hair. Regulus hadn’t realized he was crying until you began to comfort him. Sweet words whispered into his ear as you only held him tighter.

“She’s right, you know.” He croaked, lifting his head to look at you. “You shouldn’t be around me.”

You shook your head feverishly, “You’re wrong Reggy.”

“I don’t deserve you y/n, I don’t deserve to be with you.” He sobbed, “I could never deserve you.”

“You’re right, love.” You mumbled, smiling through the tears that coated your cheeks, “You deserve so much better.”

An Alternative to Studying

Pairing:Regulus Black x Reader

Word Count:576

Warnings:None

Requested: Yes! By an anon asking for Regulus wit-battle type of deal. A short blurb.

Summary: Your wit versus my wit is a greater (and far more entertaining) battle than those fought by men without mercy.

YOU HATED studying.

It was drastically boring.

But one thing that was far more entertaining that could be achieved by following the ideaof studying was the person who always happened to be at the library whenever you went.

Regulus Black was undeniably attractive. Hanging out at the library with a book in his hand and a mug of coffee on the table where he read. A boyish smirk was his natural appearance and the curls on his head, swayed with every turn of the page. An attractive boy. It made studying or at least attempting to study much easier.

Boredom overtook you that spring morning and there Regulus sat, peacefully reading with that ever so annoying smirk on his face. With a surge of confidence, you slipped into the seat beside him, your own smirk playing on your lips.

You drag the book down from his eyes, those signature Black family eyes meeting you in an already playful tone. “Hi, L/N.”

“Hi, Black.”

“What brings you here?”

His tone was nipping already like a puppy. You wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing you flush just at the sound of his voice. “Boredom. Wouldn’t seek you out if it wasn’t there.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Oh, really?”

“You’ve got that right.” you smirk. “Or perhaps it’s because I noticed that you happen to be at the library whenever I study.”

“Is that right?” he replied. “You call that studying?”

Your eyes glistened as he teased. “I try to be productive. At least I don’t brood.”

He smiled and the freckles on his face became more distinguished that you could count them if you wanted to. “Is this what you call being productive? Seems to me as though you’re itching to do something else. In fact, I’m starting to believe you didn’t come here to study at all seeing as your eyes have been on me since you arrived.”

The smirk on his face only grew larger. Regulus was looking to embarrass you but you wouldn’t allow him to do that so easily. “Stalker much? But you’re right. You caught me. I didn’t come here to study. I came here to watch the theatrics.”

His eyes squinted playfully in confusion. “Theatrics.”

“Yeah.” you grin. “You flirting with me has been quite entertaining. I’ve seen better though.”

His hands closed the book, motioning between the two of you. “So that’s what we’re calling this? Flirting?”

You stare him dead in the eye. “Yup.”

“And you’ve seen better?”

“Oh, definitely.” you nod.

He smirked. “I don’t doubt it. You’re quite the flirt yourself. I bet your mirrors are tired of hearing you compliment yourself every night.”

You let out a chuckle at that. “It is pretty lonely. Maybe you’d like to give me and the mirror a much appreciated break.”

He leans forward and you could feel your heart picking up speed. “I wouldn’t mind.”

“How about you start your shift tomorrow night in the empty Charms classroom?” you murmur, watching as his eyes trail your face.

He nods, pushing a stray hair out of your eyes. “And will I be getting paid for my shift?”

You grin. “Depends on your performance.” you push off the table, grabbing your bag from the other table. “I only expect the best compliments, Black.”

Regulus nods, a cheeky grin on his face as he returns to his book leaving both of you excited for many more witty encounters tomorrow night.

Flower Boy

Pairing: Regulus Black x Reader

Word Count:2.2k

Warnings: None? Flower Shop AU (i always say my writing is shit so this is just a regular thing at this point) Combined it with the poem I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud

Requested:By@with-love-anu

Summary: I am a seedling. You are the sun. My love for you blossomed into hills of roses, violets and chrysanthemums.

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Regulus Black bought flowers for his neighbor every Tuesday when she came home from school.

It was a secret he kept between him and the six year old girl from next door.

She was a cute child, bright eyes and big heart. Her parents did not come home till dinner and although they had not asked him, he kept a close eye on her. With this small job he observed certain things that never ceased to make him smile. The girl had a missing tooth and her favorite color was pink like the color of her backpack. She preferred dresses to skirts and liked to paint in small notebooks at the small playground down the street from his flat. More distinctly she was an avid lover of flowers, her favorite being violets because she was named after them.

So every Tuesday Regulus Black would bring Violet flowers. Nothing special, a bouquet from the grocery store that smelled like the generic flower spray they put on all the flowers. Violet would thank him and he’d watch as her parents arrived home and she’d smile and his heart would fall because he had no one he was waiting for to come home.

Violet was the only person he bought flowers for and he wasn’t sure if that saddened him or made him happier each day.

One day, the day before Violet’s birthday, he decided that she deserved the small purple hued flowers she loved so dearly but he knew that he wouldn’t find it at the store. So he inquired from the grocer where he could find a bouquet of violets and he replied with a name that stuck in his mind all morning.

“Le jardin d’argent.” He had replied. “The Silver Garden. One of the most magical places in London.”

Regulus had made his way down to the location, a quiet corner decorated brightly with flowers, vines, and leaves. And then his eyes fell on you and the corner of his lips turned upwards.

You stood over an array of blossoming flowers, sunhat on your head, watering can tucked in your hand. You smiled as you worked and when your eyes turned to his they were as bright as his neighbor’s daffodils.

You waved him over and sheepishly he came. “Hello, there-”

“Mr. Black.” he cut quickly, cheeks flaring pink at his quickness. “Regulus Black.”

“Well, Regulus, lovely to meet you.” you grinned, beautifully, if he may add. “What can I help you with today.”

“I… I need to buy some violets.”

Your eyes enlarged and a curious expression overtook your features. “That’s awfully specific. I’m glad you came to me.”

He nodded, following you inside. The air smelled of soil and earth, a scent he didn’t think he’d enjoy. Flowers blossomed from each and every corner and soft trickling water could be heard lightly leaving him with a euphoric feeling in the pit of his stomach. His eyes trailed you as you stepped into a small back area, returning with a pot of fully-grown violets.

Your fingers delicately traced the petals and Regulus couldn’t stop himself from watching. “These are African violets. Not the easiest to care for but simple enough once explained. You’ll want to keep them lightly moist and in warmer temperatures. Don’t transfer between pots until some of the leaves start to wilt, rooting is important with these flowers.”

He listened wholeheartedly as you explained the procedures with the utmost depth and care, eyes lighting up and fingers stroking the stem, petals and dirt. When you realized you were rambling your cheeks began to warm. “Sorry.” you mutter. “I get a bit carried away.”

“It’s fine.” Regulus replied. “I’d like to hear more about them. That is… if you’d like to share them with me.”

He was dumbstruck by his own bravery. A startled expression settled on your face. “I’d love to.”

Regulus scolded himself for his stupidity. He didn’t have a place. You can’t go on a date without a place in mind. Luckily, you pointed out the window to the shop across the street. “That’s a coffee shop over there. It’s pretty good.”

Regulus grinned. “Would you mind Saturday at noon?”

“Sure.” you answered quickly. You handed him the violets, fingers brushing against his for only a moment. “That’ll be ten pounds.” He reached into his pocket, exchanging the money with a shy smile before slipping out the door, the bell ringing in reminder of his date tomorrow.

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

You were beautiful in more ways than one.

The coffee date had gone well. So well, that now you had driven him to the lake. He had brought a stereo and old static plagued songs hummed over the radio. You smiled and wore a flowy white dress and leaves fluttered down on you.

All his life he’d been without consistent love or attention but now you were showering him with your own. Your light talk and over-joyous smile was all he needed to see to start on the spiral to slowly falling.

“Why did you come get flowers?” you asked curiously. “Who were they for?”

He flushed. “I have a six-year old named Violet as my neighbor… so the violets…”

“They were for her.” you finished with a sigh. “That’s so sweet, Regulus.”

He shook his head. “Some people make it easy.”

You smiled. “Wise words from someone as young as us.”

“As much as people love to play that wisdom comes with age, I am a firm believer that wisdom comes from experience and someone can experience a lot in a mere nineteen years of life.”

You chuckle, putting your head on his shoulder which caused his heart to drop. “See, wise words.”

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Your light and brightness would continue to run through the course of his life. It would flow through his veins as you became more connected to him. Lovers now, though the romance was newly afresh.

Regulus had never felt so loved. Loneliness seemed to fade as you awoke in his bed the next morning wrapped in sheets of cotton.

His arms were wrapped around you, rays of golden sun were shining through the partly open window. His lips pressed against your neck causing you to softly sigh. “What do you want to do this morning?” he murmured.

You giggled. “Nothing.”

“I’m fine with that.” he laughed, pulling you closer to him.

Outside, laughter filled the air as his neighbor played outside. Violet, the force that had gotten the two of you together. The both of you smiled. “That reminds me of when I was a girl. I liked to sing as I played though.”

“What would you sing?” he asked.

You grinned. “Oh, my darling. Oh, my darling. Oh, my darling, Clementine.”

Regulus listened to you sing, your voice echoing sweet melodies in his head and peacefully luring him to a state between sleep and consciousness.

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

Le Jardin D’Argent gained one more regular customer in the form of Regulus Black who would stop by as his girlfriend worked. He’d watch as she danced around the flower shop, watering blossoms and digging in dirt.

And after each and every shift you had, he would buy you flowers. He’d approach the registry with a smirk and a hand full of pounds.

“I’m inquiring on buying some daffodils?” he grinned.

You playfully rolled your eyes. “Who’re they for?”

He smirked. “I’d much rather not say.”

You’d smile and once the money was exchanged he’d bashfully hold out the bouquet to you which you took with a grin and a kiss to his cheek.

You were so lucky to have him.

The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

Every moment Regulus spent with you was a moment of joy, of life and filled with love to each of its creeping corners. You were brighter than the stars the two of you gazed on each night. You smiled wider than a man with an orange slice between his lips.

Spring was coming towards its end and summer was beginning to fade inwards. His love for you never did seem to fade instead growing like the plants you cared for so gently. He was the seedling, your love was the water and love bloomed beautifully, gracing the world with color.

Now you were teaching him to garden and he learned diligently by your hand.

“Reg, hand me the watering can?”

He did as you asked, watching as the water spilled from the small openings. “These are the morning glories, aren’t they?”

“Yup.” you responded. “They need to be kept evenly moist in order for them to root themselves quicker.”

Your house was much larger than his and frankly more beautiful. A garden thrived in the backyard portion and Regulus had even set up a small arrangement of flowers that he had begun to sprout, a new addition to your garden and they grew alongside yours in a way that brought him happiness, weirdly enough.

“I love your garden. It always feels like home.” he commented.

“Our garden.” you intervened.

He smiled.

I gazed—and gazed—but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

Comfort was a gift Regulus Black had rarely known.

Yes, he was rich and yes, he grew up rich. However, as painstakingly simple as it was, no amount of money could buy love or affection, something his mother and father had lacked.

However, you slowly introduced him to the idea that not everybody was cold or shed away from touch. One of Regulus’s favorite things that you did was watch the sunset, backs against the warm grass in your backyard. It was enough to harbor small bits of affection but not enough to make him uncomfortable.

“Do you know what the Greeks thought about the sun setting?”

You looked at him curiously. “What did they think?”

He took your hand, guiding it with the arc of the sunset. The feeling caused both of you to flush. “When the Titans were in power, they believed that Helios was the titan of the sun and Selene was the titan of the moon. They controlled the functions of the sun and the moon, sunset and sunrise. When the titans reign was over, Apollo and his twin sister Artemis were then left to rule over the sun and the moon.”

“That’d be fun to control the moon.”

He nodded, turning to face you in the grass. “We can be them. Although, personally, I think you’re more of a sun person than a moon person.”

You grinned, pecking him once on the lips. “I agree. Regulus, the god of the moon.”

“Y/N, goddess of the sun.”

The sun set before them, the line between sun and moon thinning, the ability to see both a beautiful sight to behold.

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

Even when he was down or perhaps he had found his thoughts were folding in on themselves, you’d press light kisses against his skin and all those thoughts would go away. They’d sink back into a place where they’d be undisturbed.

You’d fill his heart and mind with happy thoughts and simple things that forced all unsettling things that may lurk in the corners of his mind. You’d read sweet stories or even better, sing him soft lullabies from those times you were a kid.

“Oh, my darling. Oh, my darling.”

By now he knew all the words to the simple tune and he’d murmur them along with you.

“Oh, my darling, Clementine. Oh, my darling. Oh, my darling. Oh, my darling, Clementine.”

Love was kind.

He was beginning to realize that.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils.

What more could he say? Every week he continued bringing flowers to Violet and now she would wave hello to you as you watched her childish grin with a smile.

His flowers soon grew right beside yours. He would soon get a key to the front door and would know all your neighbors names by heart. Regulus would visit your flower shop everyday and flowers would soon be all around the house and he’d know the difference between annuals and perennials.

Life was perfect.

You had made it perfect.

Regulus stood above the flower shop, a paintbrush in his mouth as he stared at the freshly painted sign above the shop. You stood below him, gripping the base of the latter. “I think it looks good, don’t you think?”

“Yeah.” he replied, stepping down the latter and placing a kiss to your cheek. “It does.”

In his neat cursive, read the letters. Le Jardin Du Noir.

The Garden of Black.

The two of you smiled up at the sign, greeting the daily five thirty customer with a laugh.

She stood abruptly. The clinks and clatters of silverware hitting plates echoed. The sixth-year Gryffindor stood tall at the side of the table, towering over the rest of the sitting family. The younger boy beside her shrunk in size, watching with terrified grey eyes. The boy across from her watched with determination and a smirk across his lips. The parents at each end of the table stared with distaste.

“You won’t lay a finger or a wand on Regulus.” Y/n said lowly, and Walburga smirked, placing her wine glass on the white table cover, “And who are you to tell me what to do?”

Walburga rose from her seat slowly, both hands on the table, “You’re just the disappointment of the family. The mistake.” She spat, “You are the last person who should be giving an order.”

“Leave her alone!” Sirius exclaimed, “Y/n did nothing, and you know it.”

Orion quirked an eyebrow, “Don’t act like we don’t hear your conversations in your bedroom, Sirius. Y/n here is dating that Potter boy.”

“She is?” Walburga chuckled, “Why, dear, continue to add to your list of mistakes.”

“This isn’t about me.” Y/n growled, “This is about Regulus, and so help me if I hear another word of you turning him into a death eater, I’ll go to Azkaban myself for your deaths.”

Regulus placed a soft hand on hers that laid on the white tablecloth, “Please….”

“I will take my wand,” Y/n continued, “and I will stick it to your throat. Maybe I’ll even do the crucio curse on you a few times so that you can understand what we went through as kids. But it’ll always end the same, with your dead bodies laying on the floor.”

Walburga whipped out her wand, muttering a silent spell Y/n froze, “We’ll see who’ll be giving out the unforgivables, dear.”

Sirius jumped from the table and ran in front of his sister before his mother could perform another spell. Regulus wanted to cry. Why were they going through all of this for him? It didn’t seem fair. Y/n had just blatantly threatened their parents with their deaths, and yet both brothers felt a sense of - what was it - pride? Was that bad of them? They shouldn’t be feeling this way.

“Don’t touch her.” Sirius seethed, “She’s unarmed and paralyzed. That would be low of you.”

“Since when do I care how low I go?” Walburga replied, glancing at Orion; his wand went to Regulus’s neck.

Sirius was panicking, “Take her and yourself up to your bedroom; otherwise, Regulus will feel much more than despair.”

He swallowed but obeyed his mother’s order. Carefully he scooped Y/n into his arms and walked up the multitude of steps. When he entered the bedroom, the door closed behind him immediately, and a click was heard. The door had been locked, and Sirius sighed. He laid Y/n down on his bed. It wasn’t until the following morning that the spell wore off.

Y/n rubbed her eyes and stretched her stiff limbs. It was early in the morning, and the sun was barely rising. Sirius was drawing in a sketchbook Remus had given him. She longed for fresh air, but the window was locked after they attempted to escape back in fourth year. Sirius’ head snapped up at the noise of her yawning.

“Morning, sis.”

“Morning, Siri.”

He hesitated, “How’re you feeling?”

“Stiff.” Y/n continued to stretch her arms, “But nothing I haven’t gone through before.”

Sirius smiled, “Quidditch has helped, hasn’t it?”

“Being the best Gryffindor Seeker takes work.”

Silence filled the room like greeting an old friend, seamless, calm, and straightforward. The Blacks were always well acquainted with silence, the twins more so. After being sorted into Gryffindor, they had to be. Sirius went back to sketching his book. The quill hit the parchment with a soothing scratching noise that Y/n adored so much.

If Y/n closed her eyes, she could remember being in the library with James for the first time. She could remember how messy his hair looked, how he tucked his teeth into his plush bottom lip, how his hands held the quill and wrote smoothly across the parchment, how his cheeks flushed a brilliant magenta when he caught her staring at him, how his hazel eyes glittered with mischief but admiration at the same time.

“Thinking about him again?” Sirius broke her out of her wistful reverie, “I haven’t gotten in contact with him over the mirror before you ask.”

Y/n shook her head, “I wasn’t gonna ask that. I just hope they don’t hurt him.”

“They won’t.” Sirius assured, “James is well protected between Euphemia and Fleamont. He’ll be fine.”

“What about Rem?”

“What about him?”

Y/n gave him a look, “Don’t act like I don’t know. I know you better than myself.”

“I trust Moony.” Sirius blushed, “Nobody knows other than you and James, not even Peter. I won’t let those bastards get ten feet from him.”

Y/n stood up from Sirius’ bed and sat beside him on the floor. Their backs against the wallpaper-covered canvas. Her head lay on his bony shoulder, and he wrapped a skinny arm around her shoulders. Y/n looked in his sketchbook. He was sketching the five of them together at the Black Lake. It was beautiful.

James was laying on the ground, golden snitch flying above him - the snitch being the first one Y/n caught. Remus against a tree mere feet away from James reading a book, Sirius under his arm, not unlike how the siblings were sitting at present. Peter and Y/n engaged in what appeared to be a challenging chess game. The lake was sketched with ripples and sparkles. Remus had almost every scar visible - it wasn’t hard for Sirius to study him but lacked studying any subject.

Y/n had thought about what it would like in color. The pear-colored grass, the sapphire sky, and the cotton-like clouds. Sirius’ alabaster skin, dark chocolate hair, and slate eyes. James’ walnut-colored hair with caramel highlights, tanned skin, and vale eyes. Remus’ sandy blond hair, olive eyes, and beige scarred skin. Peters peach skin, his buttermilk-colored hair, and arctic eyes. Her s/c skin, e/c eyes, and h/c hair.

She could envision the snitch’s golden glistening color. The color of their clothes. The red and gold of the Gryffindor tie. The golden rims around James’ glasses. Remus’ pink cheeks. The brown logs and the jade leaves falling from them—the deep blue color of the Black Lake. The white highlights of the images show the glittering and rippling effect. Suddenly, she knew why Sirius liked drawing.

“Like it?“ Sirius nudged her shoulder.

Y/n nodded, “Yeah, looks beautiful.”

“Thinking about maybe painting it on one of my canvas’. Do you think it’ll come out good?”

“I think it would look gorgeous.” Y/n confessed, and Sirius’ cheeks flushed, “If you don’t mind, I’d like to buy it from you.”

Sirius chuckled, “Siblings get it for free.”

“Do we now?” Y/n smirked, “I will definitely take advantage of that.”

“I’m sure you will.” Sirius laid his head on top of hers and continued to draw.

A couple of days later, when Sirius began painting the picture on his canvas, the mirror had started to flicker. He grinned like a kid on Christmas and placed it on a table where James could see himself painting. Y/n was in the corner reading a book but perked up after hearing her boyfriend’s soothing voice.

“How’s summer going, Blacks?”

Sirius smiled, continuing to paint, “It’s going great!”

James deadpanned, and Y/n almost laughed, “How’s it really going, Pads?”

Neither of them answered, and James surveyed the room, “Did they lock you in your bedroom again?”

“Fuck no!” Sirius replied matter-of-factly, “We can go wherever we want to.”

“You’re stuck in your bedroom.” James sighed, “But you can keep lying to yourself to keep yourself from hurting those around you.”

James took in Y/n’s sorrowful e/c eyes and Sirius’ reflex to run his fingers through his hair when nervous. He could see how messy the room had gotten and how skinnier they looked. Sirius’ cheeks were caving in, and Y/n’s body became less curved. It broke James’ heart a thousand times over. On selfish days James thought it hurt him more than them.

“Come on, let me break you out of there.” James begged, “Please?”

Y/n shook her head, “You can’t, James.”

“Why not?”

“They know about us.” Y/n informed, and James’ face softened, “I can’t let them hurt you.”

“But- But they aren’t even feeding you guys!” James exclaimed, trying to make some form of an argument.

“They give us small portions,” Sirius mumbled.

“To share.” James rolled his eyes, “Please! I’ll do anything. Just let me break you guys out.”

Tears collected in Y/n’s eyes, “You can’t. And we won’t leave Regulus behind.“

“To hell with it! Bring Regulus with us!”

“James,” Y/n began softly, “This fantasy you’re having of helping us escape the old evil witch is going to get you nowhere. We’re stuck, and we can’t leave our tower.”

“No,” James shook his head, eyes filled to the brim with tears, “I will come for you guys, and- and I won’t stop until you’re home.”

Sirius wrapped an arm around his sister, “We love you, mate. But Y/n’s right. We can’t go anywhere but here.”

“I won’t take no for an answer.” James retorted, wiping his tears, his eyes filling with a determination Y/n and Sirius saw when he began a prank, “I will get you three out of there. No matter what.”

“Whatever you do,” Y/n sniffled, “Be careful.”

James smirked, “Always.”

The mirror went blank again, and they only saw their reflections. Y/n wiped her eyes and went back to sitting on the bed, a book in her lap. Sirius put the mirror face down on the night table and released a breath of relief. He resumed his position in front of the canvas with his paintbrush in hand. It wasn’t acrylic paint. It was watercolor.

It was days before the painting was finished. Sirius’ focus didn’t stay long after being malnourished for almost two weeks now. Y/n ended up spending most of her time studying or reading the Muggle books Remus provided. They still hadn’t heard any sign of James, which could’ve been bad or good. Sirius decided to stay optimistic.

The days grew longer and more drawn out the longer they were stuck in Sirius’ bedroom. Most days, they couldn’t drag each other out of bed. Sirius would lay on her while she read out loud whatever paperback Y/n had been fascinated with at the time. They weren’t allowed to shower, and Sirius’ hair went greasy. It was gross.

Finally, after a month, they heard movement. It was late at night, and the sky was covered with clouds. Bright light flooded the small room that Y/n groaned at. Sirius rubbed his eyes and sat up to open the curtains. When he opened the curtains, he wasn’t met with the sun but rather a flashlight in a boy’s hand. The boy’s mouth was moving, but Sirius couldn’t hear a word.

The boy - who Sirius now recognized as James - motioned for him to move to the side. Sirius sidestepped, and James pointed a wand at the window, allowing the window to unlatch. It made a cringe-worthy noise. Sirius opened the window quietly, and Y/n sat up.

“What the bloody hell are you doing, Sirius?”

James snorted, “Well, isn’t she pleasant.”

Y/n jumped up at James’ voice, “What’re you doing here? You need to leave! Go!”

“Relax, I’m here to get you out of here.” James smiled, “Get your trunks. I have a port key outside.”

“James,” Y/n said softly, “Regulus, I won’t leave him.”

James placed both hands on her shoulders, “It’s time to pick. Either you get out of this miserable mess with Sirius, or you stay here with Regulus.”

“And I hope,” James continued, “That you finally choose yourself.”

She shook her head, pushing him away, “Take Sirius. Go anywhere. I won’t leave without Regulus.”

“Sis-“

“No.” Y/n stood her ground, “Reg and I will leave eventually but not now.”

Sirius packed his trunk. It was filled to the brim with books, journals, and clothes. It was hard to close, but Sirius got the latches to click. He stared intently at it, almost debating on whether or not he should do it. He’d be leaving both his siblings behind. Y/n hugged him tightly.

“Go,” She whispered, “Get out of here. You’re dying to explore. Remus and James will give that to you.”

He nodded and kissed her hair before throwing his trunk out of the window. Sirius landed on the soft grass, and James was left standing in the room. His hazel eyes filled with sorrow and despair. Y/n was his princess, and he couldn’t save her no matter how much he wanted to.

“I’ll find my way back to you,” Y/n assured, “I always do.”

James wrapped his arms around her tightly, “I’ll see you on the train.”

“I’ll see you.”

They pulled away, laying their foreheads together. James nuzzled his nose gently, making her smile at the soft gesture. His lips caught hers in a passionate, gentle, and loving kiss. James’ lips were so smooth, and they always had a tint of cherry chapstick. When they parted, his lips were pink and parted. Y/n smiled.

“Go,” Y/n pushed him away gently, “Go help my brother.

He nodded, and before he could jump out of the window, “James,” He turned, “This isn’t the end of us. I will get out of here if it kills me.”

“That’s my girl.” James smirked, “You escape this place even if you die trying.”

“Always.”

He gave her one last smirk before jumping onto the soft grass where Sirius was waiting. James grabbed his broom, and Sirius grabbed his trunk. They both placed their hands on the dirty sock, and within seconds they were at the Potter Manor at Godric’s Hollow. Y/n closed the window and locked it again as she watched them disappear.

It wasn’t until the start of the year when they unlocked Sirius’ bedroom to notice him missing. Regulus was heartbroken, and Y/n got the blame for it, which resulted in her being the receiver of many curses. They boarded the Hogwarts Express together for the first time since Regulus’ first year. Slytherins and Gryffindor were not supposed to be found together.

The siblings sat together alone in a compartment. Y/n didn’t miss how happy Sirius seemed now. His cheeks were whole again, and his ribs weren’t on full display—James’ arm around him and Remus. Y/n put an arm around Regulus, holding him close. Regulus allowed himself to melt into his older sister, his protector. James saw them, and he saw the bruises on Y/n’s cheek. If only he could see what was beneath her robes.

Hogwarts seemed dull. Not much happened between Y/n and the marauders. Her full-time job had become taking care of her little brother’s broken heart. Nothing happened between her and James other than small exchanges between classes, sex in broom cupboards, or kisses in the Astronomy tower. They spent very little time together but made it work.

The summer approaching her seventh year was dreadful. Y/n didn’t get locked in her bedroom this time, but the dinners were horrendous. It was silent, and the only noises were culinary on plates. Regulus looked terrified, and their parents looked to be communicating with their eyes or telepathically. Orion set down his utensils and crossed his arms.

“I believe we have a decision to make.”

“Pardon?” Y/n queried quietly.

Walburga took a sip of wine, “I believe it’s time you pay your duty to the family name.”

“Pay our duty?” Y/n asked, setting down her fork, “What are you on about?”

Orion pulled up his sleeve, and Regulus shivered at the black ink embedded in his father’s forearm, “After supper, you both will pay your duty to this family.”

“What if we refuse?”

“Are you sure you want to do that?” Walburga questioned, an eyebrow raised, “I assure you your punishment will be ten times worse than getting the dark mark.”

“Okay.” Y/n agreed, “But I go first.”

“Beautiful.” Walburga smiled.

The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. Regulus kept staring at his older sister with an incredulous expression. She had never been one to give in, but she was also willing to do anything for Regulus, even if it meant ruining her relationship. Before the ceremony, Regulus pulled her aside, and Y/n cast a silencing spell.

“You aren’t going to do it, are you?”

“Of course I am.” Y/n replied, “You aren’t doing his alone.”

“What about James? And Sirius?”

“They’ll understand.”

“No!” Regulus cried, “They won’t!”

Y/n looked around before gripping Regulus’ forearm tight, “Go, run. Anywhere. I promise I’ll find you.”

“No.” His eyes hardened, “I won’t leave you behind.”

“Regulus, I’m begging you.” Y/n pleaded, “Leave this house. Take the Knight Bus to the Potters. Find Sirius and stay there.”

His eyes filled with tears, “But- But-“

“No.” Regulus had never seen her be so brave, “You need to go.”

Before he could refuse, Y/n kissed his forehead and pushed him near the door, “I told Kreacher to let you go. He won’t say anything.”

“You have to promise to come back to me,” Regulus begged, holding his sister’s hands.

“I can’t promise you.” They both heard footsteps, “Go!”

Y/n pushed him out of the door and closed it behind her. Hastily she riddled the silence charms. Walburga smiled at her and laid out her hand for Y/n to take. Releasing a breath, Y/n took it. Walburga’s hands were soft and pale. They had never seen a day of work in their life. The only thing they ever picked up was a wine glass.

She led Y/n to the main room. Inside was not just Orion. It was the entirety of the Black family inside that hadn’t been banished. There was a chair placed in the middle of the room. It had dark green patting and dark oak wood. Hesitantly Y/n sat with her left forearm facing the feeling when Narcissa spoke up.

“Where’s Regulus?”

Y/n shrugged, “I don’t know. I couldn’t find him after dinner.”

“No matter.” Walburga smiled happily, “Y/n here will replace his spot.”

Bellatrix looked at her stupidly. Y/n was a Gryffindor, not a Slytherin. Narcissa didn’t seem to mind, but Lucius looked like he wanted to spit at her feet. Andromeda wasn’t there, a sign of her being burnt from the tapestry just a couple of years ago for marrying a Muggle named Ted Tonks. Andromeda had always begged Y/n to take care of her younger brothers. That promise was getting fulfilled now.

“Are we ready?” Orion questioned, and a round of agreements went around the room.

He placed his wand against the skin of her left forearm. Orion muttered something, and immense pain filled her body. It ached, and it felt like her bones were shattering beneath her skin. The feeling of being hit with a thousand pins hitting her skin where the new black ink was going into her skin. Her body shook, but within seconds it was gone. Now the only remembrance of doing the ceremony laid on her left forearm. Claps echoed through the main room of the Black family home. Y/n swallowed.

At least it wasn’t Regulus.

Regulus had run as far as he could before calling for the Knight Bus. Unknowingly his pockets were filled with galleons that Y/n must’ve shoved into his pockets. He paid them twelve and sat down on a bed while they brought him to the Potter residence. He felt guilty for leaving her behind, but she had been so insistent.

It was dawn when Regulus arrived at the brown wooden house in Godric’s Hollow. The neighborhood was calm and homey. The weather was humid, and Regulus felt sticky when he left the bus. But he looked around until he found the last name Potter on the mailbox. The driveway was an abundance of stones in different directions. The house itself looked similar to a typical suburban home, but Regulus knew looks could be deceiving.

Hesitantly he knocked on the door and waited to hear footsteps. After a minute of standing, the door opened wide, and familiar grey eyes stared at him. Sirius. His hair was longer, and he looked to have grown two inches. His cheeks were full and pink. He was wearing red pajama pants and a plain grey tee. Regulus assumed that Mrs. Potter gave him a new wardrobe.

Sirius looked around before talking, “Where is she?”

“She-“ Regulus swallowed, “She took it.”

“N- No, you’re lying!”

Regulus shook his head, “She told me to go, to leave.”

“James!” Sirius yelled, and a tousled James stood beside him, looking at Regulus in shock.

Without a word, James pulled him into a tight embrace. Regulus was just a tad shorter than James, and he rested his chin on James’ shoulder. James had his arms wrapped tightly around the younger Black brother’s body, not wanting to release him. He saw Regulus’ look of guilt and pity for James when he did.

“Come on, inside.” James ushered them in, “It’s gross outside.”

They walked into the house. Regulus was surprised at how big the inside was. The outside made it look no bigger than a suburban home, but the inside rivaled a mansion. The first room on the right was a sitting room, and the first room to the left was the kitchen. Further back, there appeared to be a dining room. Stairs led to the second story and stairs leading down to a basement.

James went into the sitting room, and Sirius followed. Regulus took his time in following after them. The hallway had family photos of the Potters all together, smiles on their faces. Regulus could remember the Black family photos, sitting straight, shoulders back, and not smiling, looking into the lens. He hated those pictures. Sirius called for him softly, and Regulus took a seat in an armchair.

“So,” The room was unbearably stiff, “Y/n has the dark mark.”

“Yes.”

Sirius ran a hand through his hair, “I shouldn’t have left her there.”

“It’s not your fault, Pads.” James assured, “If I’m honest, I’m glad it’s her.”

Both brothers stared at James as if someone had died, “Y/n’s capable of defending herself. She’s been top of our year since first year. I trust her to make the right decisions.”

“She’s on the opposing side!” Sirius exclaimed, “If she goes through with this, she’ll be at our wand point!”

“I know that.” James said calmly, “But she makes the right decisions. Maybe she can become a spy for us.”

“If she gets found out, they’ll kill her.” Regulus interjected, “It’d be putting her in more danger.”

Sirius looked ready to cry, “She’s my little sister. I was supposed to take care of her! Protect her!”

“You did.” James replied, “You did the best you could. She told you to leave, and she took the mark for Regulus willingly. She would’ve never let either of you get the mark.”

“I just,” Sirius sounded breathless, “I don’t know what to do.”

James put an arm around his shoulder, “We’ll figure it out together.”

It wasn’t until seventh year when James saw Y/n again. James, Sirius, and Regulus saw her with the Black parents, who looked highly proud of their only daughter. Y/n boarded the train alone and sat in a compartment alone. Regulus joined his older brother in the Marauders compartment where he could laugh freely.

Y/n had been given strict orders to stay away from James and every other blood-traitor alike. That was the expectation of a Death Eater.

Months later, when the war finally began, she was requested at the Malfoy Manor to supervise a captive. The Death Eaters were unaware that Y/n was working as a spy for the Order of the Phoenix. When she entered the room, she saw two familiar faces. One man with tousled sandy-blond hair and tired green eyes. Another with dark brown mussed hair and a muscular build.

“Here you are, dearie.” Bellatrix smiled, twirling her wand, “They’re all yours till the morning.”

Y/n gave a courtesy, “Thank you, Bella.”

Bellatrix walked out of the room with her hips swaying. The room itself was dull and had no windows. The walls were white but appeared grey with the darkness of the room. Y/n whispered ‘Lumos,’ lighting up the tip of her wand to see the conditions of the two captives. Both men were tied at the wrists and ankles. They also had blindfolds across their eyes.

“Who-“ Remus coughed, “Who’s there.”

Y/n didn’t answer, “You have a familiar scent.”

Remus would be correct. After hanging around him for six years at Hogwarts, she would have a familiar scent. James didn’t say anything and allowed Remus to take the lead. Despite not seeing, Remus continued to smell the air trying to remember who’s scent was currently in the room. Y/n knew they had to leave tonight.

The full moon was tomorrow.

“I promise I’ll get you guys out of here.” Y/n whispered, and James visibly perked up at the sound of her voice, “Y/n!”

“Shh,” Y/n hushed hastily, “You can’t be loud of they’ll check in on us.”

Remus whimpered, “Please, you have to get me out of here the full-“

“Yes, the full moon is tomorrow.” Y/n interjected softly, “I won’t let you hurt anyone. I promise.”

After an hour, Y/n gave them both some water from a glass and her wand. Her shift was up when the sun began to rise in five hours. At every hour mark, Y/n would give them something or help them somehow. At two o’clock, it was loosening their ankle ties. At three o’clock, it was giving them some solid food. At four o’clock, it was taking off their blindfolds. At five o’clock, it was loosening their wrist ties. Finally, at six o’clock, she gave them their wands.

“You have everything to protect yourself. I will leave this room in just two minutes, and Narcissa will be outside waiting. In that time, I will try to stall her so you will have maybe a minute at most to apparate out of here.” Both men nodded, “Then I won’t be responsible because I’ll be talking with Narcissa.”

When two minutes passed, Y/n walked out of the room. Both men heard her greet Narcissa, and they quickly apparated out of the building to the safehouse. Y/n had walked away by the time Narcissa entered the bare room. Her gasp could be heard from across the Manor. She reported it instantly.

Y/n was never seen as a suspect because of her alibi, and technically, the men were under Narcissa’s watch at the time.

The next afternoon, Y/n apparated to the safe house. The atmosphere inside the safe house was much more welcoming than the Malfoy Manor. Compared to the manor, the safe house was a breath of fresh air. When Y/n entered the house, she was greeted with laughter coming from the sitting room where she saw her husband and child on the ground playing together.

Remus was sitting in an armchair, watching them. Sirius was lying on the floor with James and Harry. Regulus was in the kitchen making conversation with other Order members. James turned when he heard the door open and smiled brightly when his wife entered the home.

“Look, Harry, mumma’s here!” James said, pointing at Y/n, taking off her coat.

Y/n smiled and walked toward them on the couch. She took Harry in her arms, making him giggle happily. The Marauders sat together in the sitting room until it was time for Remus to leave for the Shrieking Shack. Regulus was on Harry duty while the other three - Peter was busy on a mission - went out with Remus.

The following morning, they were all exhausted. Remus was sleeping in a bedroom, and Y/n sat beside him while the other slept. Y/n held his hand soothingly. It was just past midday when Remus muttered something that Y/n barely caught.

“Thank you for not letting me hurt anyone.”

Harry cringed at Professor Potter’s stern voice. She was a very laid-back teacher, and her tone of voice always stayed the same level. He had never heard this from her before. Harry could remember when he was a boy under the stairs. Petunia used to raise her voice sometimes at the man on the phone. He used to cower into the deepest depths of the cupboard, hoping that she would stop.

Harry then heard Lupin’s calm voice, “Dumbledore had specifically said that you were working with You-Know-Who. How were we supposed to take that?”

“I don’t know!” Professor Potter exclaimed, “Maybe ask me about it before pointing your wand at my throat?”

“It was a genuine mistake-“ Harry grimaced at Professor Lupin’s poor choice of words.

“A mistake that ruined my life, Lupin!” Harry could feel the malice in her tongue, “Seven years! Seven fucking years of misery. Seven years I will not get back.”

Harry turned the corner to see Lupin’s expression with obvious guilt, but Professor Potter didn’t seem deterred, “Not only was it seven years. I’m not even allowed to have my nephew in my custody because of my record.” Her voice got so low that Harry had to strain to hear it, “You don’t understand what he’s been through, Lupin. He’s getting abused by Lily’s sister, and there’s nothing I can do about it! They see I’ve been to Azkaban, and that’s all they care about.”

Harry almost gasped. Hermione would scold him for being an idiot, but it could’ve been possible that they were related just because they shared the same last name. Now that was confirmed. Professor Potter was his aunt. Harry was in for a good slapping my Hermione, and he owed Ron two sickles.

“But you know what, fuck it all right?” Harry pleaded to Godric he’d never make Professor Potter mad; her voice was shrill and scary, “Because everything that comes out of Dumbledore’s mouth is the truth, right?”

Lupin sighed, “I really am sorry. I know you won’t forgive me, and that’s reasonable, but with Regulus being alive now, you’re going to have to be around Padfoot.”

“I’ve known all about Regulus being alive.” Professor Potter said matter-of-factly, “After all, he’s the reason I’m out of Azkaban.”

Harry turned the corner again, Lupin looked flabbergasted, and from the view of Potter’s back, she seemed smug, “He- He defended you?”

“He did.” Her chin tipped up.

Professor Lupin ran a hand through his hair, looking shocked. He seemed to stand there frozen in time yet so moving simultaneously. His hands moved at a constant pace as if he didn’t know what to do with them. His glasses laid low on his nose, dangerously close to slipping off his face. Harry could see his knee-trembling slightly, possibly in pain. Professor Lupin did carry a cane occasionally.

“He’s also my fiancé.”

That was the bomb that made Lupin’s glasses fall. Professor Potter walked straight and past Lupin, further from Harry. Her shoes made a soft clicking noise against the old floors of Hogwarts. Professor Lupin bent down to grab his glasses and placed them in her cloak before sliding down the wall. His knees were to his chin, and he looked like a pretzel, Harry thought.

Lupin was all long limbs and skinny body. It made him look funny. Nonetheless, Harry was stuck in a sticky situation. His previous question to Professor Lupin now forgotten and more intrigued with the history of his two professors. Hastily, Harry looked at the Marauders Map to find no one insight, and he walked back to the Gryffindor Tower.

Breakfast in the Great Hall was always a magnificent experience. Especially for Ronald Weasley, who never really stopped eating until the food disappeared. It was indeed an appalling talent considering his many other siblings. But Ron didn’t go straight for the French toast. Instead, he stared at Harry.

“What?“

“You were missing last night?”

Hermione turned, “Missing?”

Ron turned to Hermione, “I woke up after a nightmare to find Harry’s bed empty.” Both teens turned to Harry eating a sausage, “So where were you?”

“I had a question for Professor Lupin that turned into a very intriguing history lesson,” Harry replied nonchalantly.

The trio was quiet for a moment before Ron scoffed, “Go on then,” He beckoned, “Share with the class.”

“Apparently,” Harry drawled, “Professor Lupin messed up Professor Potter’s life.”

Hermione was looking for more, “And she’s also my aunt.”

“I knew it!” Ron exclaimed and held out his hand, “Go on.”

Harry dug through his pockets and slapped two sickles in Ron’s hand; Hermione looked less impressed, “I mean, of course, it seems obvious, innit?”

Both boys turned to her, “Do you guys not feel the tension whenever Professor Lupin and Potter get within five feet of each other?” Based on the boy’s expression, it was a no, “You two are absolutely hopeless.” She grumbled while stuffing her face with porridge.

“So what happened?”

“She told him off, and he kinda just sat there, I suppose.” Harry shrugged, drowning his pancakes in syrup, “I left before anyone could see me.”

“So, what’s the plan?” Ron asked, mouth full of egg.

“Plan?”

“Yeah,” Ron replied, “We need a plan to figure out what went wrong.”

Hermione scoffed, “I think it has something to do with her going to Azkaban.”

She shuffled through her bag before pulling out an old Daily Prophet. She pointed at a paragraph, “If you read here, it says that Y/n Potter and Remus Lupin had been romantically involved before the incident causing her to go to Azkaban.”

“Why the hell do you have this?” Harry’s spoon clattered against his dish.

“Research! That’s not the point.” Hermione swatted at him, “The point is that obviously, something happened between the two. Not to mention them being absolutely connected. Did she mention anyone else?”

“Professor Lupin did mention something about a Padfoot?”

Hermione hummed, “Okay, let’s say Padfoot is a nickname for a friend, okay?“

“Bloody weird nickname,” Ron murmured.

“No one asked you, Ronald.” Hermione snapped.

Harry grinned, “She said the full name.”

“Harold Potter.”

“My name isn’t even Harold!”

“Irrelevant!” She exclaimed, “Padfoot is their friend, or was their friend. Maybe we should talk to them or find them.”

Ron swallowed his bacon faster than you could say wackspurt, “And how exactly are we going to find this Padfoot?”

“I don’t think we should find him.” Hermione said exasperated, “I think we should ask Professor Potter about him.”

“Why would we do that?”

“Yeah,” Harry agreed, “Isn’t that an invasion of privacy?”

Hermione narrowed her eyes, “That’s never been a problem with you before.”

Harry flipped his hands up defensively, “It was one bloody time.”

Ron snickered, “We ended up saving your life, didn’t we?”

“Not the point!”

It took days of planning, but the trio eventually came up with a plan. However, their plan was quickly thrown to the dogs when Professor Lupin entered the History of Magic classroom during the third-year Gryffindors and Hufflepuff class time. Professor Potter paid him absolutely no mind, but Professor Lupin was undetermined and stood in the entryway of the door. Everyone enjoyed Professor Potter’s lessons. According to the upper-level students, she was much more intriguing than old Professor Binns.

A cough sounded from the doorway, “Professor Potter?”

“Yes?” Her voice sounded strained behind her gritted teeth.

“May I bother you for just a moment?”

“More than you already have?” Some Hufflepuffs sniggered, and Seamus ‘Ooooed’ from the front left corner of the room.

Professor Potter turned, “Pay him no mind, Mr.Finnigan. I’ll be back in just a second.”

Without another word, she left the classroom with the door cracked open. Professor Lupin placed his shoe in the crevice of the door so it wouldn’t close completely. Harry sat in the back of the classroom with Hermione beside him; despite the closed door and low voices, the duo could still hear their every word.

“What is your problem!” Y/n whisper shouted, “I can’t even teach my class in peace now?”

Remus sighed, clearly done with the bickering, “Sirius will be staying with me for the weekend.”

“And I care; why?”

“You don’t.” Remus stated plainly, “But he would like to speak with you.”

She scoffed, “‘He would like.’ You know, I’d like many things in this world, but we don’t always get what we want, do we?”

“I am well aware we do not always get what we want, thank you.” Remus retorted drily, “However, we are both making an effort to correct what we have done to you.”

“You’re wasting your time,” Y/n stated as she tried to enter her classroom.

Remus stopped her, “When was the last time you used Vixen?”

“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”

“It’s not.” Remus replied, “But if you can make it, I’d appreciate it greatly.”

Professor Potter didn’t answer. Instead, she walked around him and entered her classroom. Harry didn’t know what Professor Lupin meant by if she could ‘make it.’ Maybe it was a specific teacher meeting or something that the teachers did. Regardless, it was evident that the Professors still weren’t on good terms.

The following Monday, Professor Lupin was not teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, but Professor Potter instead. She leaned on the wooden desk with her dark purple robes on. Underneath her robes were muggle clothes. Professor Potter always seemed indifferent to blood status. Everyone sat in their respected seats when Harry raised his hand.

“Yes, Mr. Potter?”

“Where is Professor Lupin?”

Y/n sighed, “He’s fallen ill. So until he feels better, I’ll be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts in his place.”

Harry smiled, seemingly okay with that answer. It didn’t seem that Professor Potter was angry at Professor Lupin for teaching in his absence but that she seemed tired. Harry noticed some new bruises on her arms when she took her robes off and how she seemed to move sluggishly across the classroom. Professor Potter was laid-back, but she wasn’t lazy.

It was late, and Harry was just about to go to the Gryffindor corridor when he saw Professor Potter sitting at Professor Lupin’s desk with a stack of parchment. He approached the door quietly and knocked gently. Y/n perked up and smiled happily at the intrusion.

“It’s quite late, Harry.” Y/n observed, “Might it be time for you to go to the Gryffindor tower?”

Harry flushed, “I was wondering if I could talk to you? If I’m not intruding.”

“Not a problem, my love.” Y/n waved her hand, and the papers hit the floor beside the desk.

A chair from one of the desks floated in front of the Professor’s desk, and Y/n motioned for him to sit in it. Harry tried to move less eager than he was but still moved faster than he would’ve liked. His satchel hit the ground beside him, and Y/n twirled a quill.

“Sorry, I can’t offer you any tea.” Professor Potter said, slightly embarrassed, “As you can see, this isn’t my classroom, and I have no idea where anything is.”

Harry grinned, not unlike James; Y/n noticed, “I think I’ll explode if I drink any more tea,” Harry chuckled, “I just came from dinner at the Great Hall.”

“Wonderful,” Y/n commented with an amused smile, “Now, what was it you wanted to speak about?”

He faltered slightly, “We share the same surname.”

“We do,” Y/n stated, “But that happens all the time.”

“Well, is it possible that you’re related to my father, James Potter?”

She smirked, “It is.”

“Are you?”

“I am.”

Harry didn’t think he would get this far.

“I’m his twin sister.” Y/n said, “Which makes you my nephew, in case you weren’t aware.”

“I-I know.” Harry stuttered, “Can you- um- tell me what he was like?”

Y/n beamed, “Of course. Is there anything, in particular, you’d like to know?”

“Was he kind?” He queried hesitantly, “I’ve heard he was arrogant.”

She laughed at that, “He was definitely arrogant, but he was exceedingly kind to make up for it. It didn’t matter how many times you upset or disappointed James Potter, he’d always give you a second, or third, or fourth chance.”

“I’m sure you’ve heard that he was a star Chaser for the Gryffindor House team. Sirius Black - his best mate - was a Beater on the team, and believe it or not, Professor Lupin was the Commentator.”

“Commentator?”

“Indeed.” Y/n smirked, “Professor Lupin was extremely witty in his youth.”

Harry kicked a crumpled note under the desk before asking again, “Why are you and Professor Lupin so cross?”

“Professor Lupin and I are perfectly cordial.” Y/n saw Harry’s disbelieving look, “However, we aren’t the greatest of friends.”

“Why?”

She coughed subtly, “It’s a very long-winded story we don’t have time for, I’m afraid.”

“Does it have something to do about your imprisonment?”

“How do you know about that?”

“Hermione showed Ron and me the other morning at breakfast.”

Y/n smiled fondly, “She’s quite brilliant, but yes, it does.”

“So you and Professor Lupin were in a relationship?”

“We were.” Y/n answered, “We started going out in our fifth year and presumably broke up when I got sentenced.”

Harry didn’t know what to say. He felt like the words were falling from his mouth before he could stop them, “Can I live with you?”

“Excuse me?”

“It’s just that- I’m sorry- I didn’t-“ Harry’s face was the color of rose, and he was spluttering to try and form a sentence.

Y/n had an expression on her face that could only be called affectionate, “It’s okay, Harry. I’ve heard rumors of what the Dursleys do to you over the summer holidays.”

“You have?” Harry seemed relaxed by this.

“I have, and I’d love nothing more for you to stay with me.” Y/n sighed, “However, I’d need clearance from the Ministry, and I don’t know if they’ll permit me. Especially with one of your guardians having a clean record.”

Harry looked confused, “I have another guardian?”

“You do.”

“Who are they?”

“Sirius Black is your godfather.” Y/n replied, “To be quite honest, I’m not sure why he hasn’t tried to take you in yet. However, I believe it’s Dumbledore’s orders. I’ve never been one for following his orders, though.”

She had a mischievous grin on her face, “This may be a lot to ask, but-“

“I’ll try.” Harry looked shocked at her interjection, “Hopefully, by the summer, you’ll be able to come home to mine instead of the Dursleys. Sound fair?”

“Yes. Thank you!”

“You’re welcome, love.”

Harry was in much brighter spirits after his talk with Professor Potter. It was exciting to learn that he could get rid of the Dursleys and live with a loving Aunt. Not to mention he also had a godfather that he never knew of.

Three owls were sent that night by three different owls. One snow-white owl named Hedwig sent a letter to a mysterious Sirius Black. A second all-black owl named Achilles was sending a letter to the Ministry for parental permission of Harry James Potter. Finally, a third barn owl was sending a letter to Regulus Black about the potential of Harry living under their roof.

Sirius wasn’t expecting mail at the kitchen table when eating breakfast. Usually, the mail came in through the muggle mailbox since he and Remus shared a flat in muggle London, but occasionally they’d get mail by owl-post. Sirius took the envelope from the owl, but she didn’t fly away immediately. She watched Sirius open it and sat patiently.

“Dear, Sirius Black,

I don’t really know how to start this. I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Harry James Potter, and apparently, you were my dad’s best mate. That’s all I really know about you and that you were a Beater for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. I’m a Seeker for the team right now.

According to Professor Potter, you’re my godfather. I wish you would’ve contacted me or told me you exist. I’ve only just now learned of who you are. Apparently, you, mum, dad, Professor Lupin, and Professor Potter were all friends. Maybe you didn’t know I was born, and that’s why you didn’t contact me, or that’s what I’m hoping. Otherwise, it’s real shit of you not to.

I guess owl me back, so I know you exist still.

-Signed,

Harry Potter”

Sirius chuckled, running a hand through his hair, “Nothing like getting told off by your godchild.”

Harry did get a letter back from the mysterious Sirius Black only two days later. The handwriting was elegant and curvy; maybe his godfather was posh or a muggle. The Potter’s didn’t seem to care about blood status. When he asked Hermione and Ron about the Black’s, he got an insightful explanation about the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. Nonetheless, the words inside were encouraging and informative. Despite Sirius not reaching out, he seemed kind.

Harry and Sirius continued to owl each other. As it continued, the letters got more personal and more helpful. Sirius was actually really good at offering advice for Harry when needed. Professor Potter had gotten an owl back about her parental permissions being granted after months of review. After the History of Magic examination, Harry was to stay after class.

After class, Harry received news that he would be coming to the Black/Potter residence for the summer holidays, and he was ecstatic. The train home couldn’t have been any slower, and he couldn’t wait to be safe in a house with his Aunt.

They apparated to the driveway, which was stone brick pavers, it seemed neverending, and the cherry blossom trees surrounding the house were in full bloom. It was a two-story house, painted grey with dark brown - almost black - accents. When the duo walked inside the house smelt like a man’s cologne, Harry thought the house couldn’t be more different than the Dursleys.

A soft fluffy thing walked in between Harry’s legs immediately after his shoes were off, and Y/n chuckled, “This is lynx. She’s our cat.”

He bent down, and she smelt his hand before rubbing against it, “She’s beautiful.”

“Thank you.” Y/n replied, “Though Regulus will take great pride in that.”

Harry followed Y/n into the kitchen, where she began preparing tea, “Regulus?”

“Oh!” She exclaimed as she placed the kettle on the stove, “Regulus is my fiancé. He knows you’re here, and he is super sweet.”

“Where is he?”

Y/n put the boiling water in two cups, “Working.”

She passed him a cup of the jasmine tea, “Do I- um- call him Uncle?”

“You don’t have to if you aren’t comfortable.” Y/n was always so soft and trying to make him comfortable, “He’ll appreciate anything that isn’t Mr. Black.”

“Okay.” Harry smiled.

Regulus didn’t come home until later that evening. Y/n had shown Harry to his bedroom, which was the same bedroom she occupied while staying in the house. Harry was getting settled in when the door opened loudly, and someone was taking their shoes off at the door along with their cloak.

The man had jaw-length curvy hair with blue-grey eyes. His skin was pale and flushed from the heat. He also had freckles under his eyes. His jawline was sharp, his cheeks sunken just a pinch. The man was skinny but had muscle and was extremely tall. He stood at around six feet. Harry was just about five feet and five inches.

He didn’t see Harry at the top of the steps and went straight into the kitchen, where he placed down the take-out containers. Y/n appeared at the other end of the kitchen, it seemed, because the man stopped and smiled at her. Harry stood at the central kitchen entrance watching them interact. He kissed her on the cheek as she unloaded the bag of takeout. Finally, Harry was noticed.

“Ah, you must be Harry.” Regulus said with a smile, and Harry flushed, embarrassed for ruining their peace, “I’m Regulus.”

Harry didn’t say anything and stared at them wearily, “It’s okay, Harry. You can come in. Regulus got us some take-out. Hopefully, it’s something you like.” Y/n smiled, putting two boxes in front of a barstool at the island.

He sat down hesitantly and began to eat, “Sorry,” Harry apologized, “I’m not used to this setting yet.”

“We’ve been in the same position before.” Regulus stated solemnly, “Except I didn’t have an amazing Aunt to escape to.”

Y/n laughed, “Shut it.”

“I’m just telling him the truth!” Regulus defended mouthful of food.

“Chew your food.” Y/n scoffed.

Harry smiled at their good-natured bickering. It was much different from Petunia and Vernon constant arguing. Harry could get used to this. He was never really allowed to sit in the kitchen and eat with the others. He also would’ve been punished for eavesdropping as he had previously. Y/n and Regulus didn’t seem to mind, however.

The summer holiday was truly fun compared to his usual one. Regulus was kind and sweet, like Y/n’s description. Lynx also seemed to take a liking to him. Lynx slept with him every night but traveled throughout the house in the mornings. Harry also learned that breakfast would always get made in the mornings. Sometimes it was french toast, pancakes, or waffles as a main course, but it always tasted heavenly.

He learned that Y/n went to Hogwarts a week early to prepare for classes, leaving him home alone with Regulus. Harry and Regulus got along nicely. They didn’t know much about each other, however. Harry was in the library when he found a black leather-bound book. It read ‘The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black History’ in gold foil on the spine. Harry pulled it from the shelf and began to read through it.

It seemed like a biography on the Black family with many facts inside. Whoever wrote the book was obviously well informed on the pureblood family. The book talked about everyone too, even the disowned members of the family like Alphard Black, Andromeda Black, Phinneas Black, and finally Sirius Black.

Harry drank up all the knowledge about Sirius like a bee with nectar. Sirius seemed to have a troubling childhood with extremely abusive parents. He’d go weeks without food, water, and sometimes shelter. Sirius was the only Black to get sorted into Gryffindor, but he wasn’t the first to be sorted into a different house.

He didn’t know how long he sat there reading until Regulus entered the room, “Whatcha got there?”

Harry snapped the book shut, looking like a deer in headlights, “I- um- I don’t- uh-“

“Y/n said you stuttered when you got caught, but I thought she was lying.” Regulus chuckled, “Apparently not.”

The young boy’s face was entirely red, “You aren’t in trouble, Harry.” Regulus sat down criss-cross in front of him.

Harry handed Regulus the book, and Regulus smiled, “It makes sense why you’d pick it up. It’s intriguing, isn’t it?”

“It is.” He admitted, “Sirius Black is my godfather, and I wanted to know more about him.”

“Well, you know, I actually wrote this book.” Regulus grinned, “You could always ask me.”

“You- You wrote it?”

Regulus let his fingers trail the front of the leather, “Yup. I just never published it.”

“Why not?” Harry questioned, “It’s brilliant!”

“Thank you.” Regulus blushed, “But nobody needs to know how horrid my family was.”

There was a short silence, “But since you seem so intrigued and I am Sirius Black’s younger brother. I’d love to tell you anything you’d like to know.”

Harry grinned cheerfully. The two boys sat in the library for the entire afternoon talking about the Black family. Harry found that he now understood what Regulus meant when he said they came from the same background. Regulus seemed to have it much worse than he did.

Toward the end of the holiday, Harry took to calling Regulus Uncle. It seemed fitting after Regulus had taken the role with such affection and care. Harry couldn’t imagine not coming to their house every summer and maybe even Christmas one year. He had never felt so safe in soft, warm bedsheets and a purring Lynx laying on the pillow he wasn’t using.

Y/n was already at Hogwarts, so Regulus had taken the role to bring him to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. Harry wasn’t disappointed. Regulus had made a fantastic breakfast that morning and some sweets to take with him or eat on the train. He hugged Regulus before jumping onto the train. Harry found Hermione and Ron quickly, where they all exchanged stories from the summer.

Harry had never felt so loved in his life.

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦⋆ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

There was always a repetitive thing between you and Regulus.

Drink. Fuck. Ignore. Repeat. The same endless cycle you both did every week.

It was always when everyone was asleep that you two met; so it would only be between you two. You laid on the bed while he pinned your arms to the sheets, Regulus trailing kisses from your stomach to your lips with each gentle peck before your lips both meet.

“Fuck, yes—”

Hearing each other’s moans and screams the night before, drowning each other’s stress and irritation with praise and degradation, then pretending nothing happened the next morning at Potions. As if you didn’t taste how the firewhiskey burned on your lips while you devoured each other.

One look from afar and it looked like you two weren’t even friends. Or acquaintances.

Just mere strangers.

But you both always came back for more every single time.

It didn’t matter if you weren’t on good terms, or fought in Transfiguration.

Cigarettes on the nightstand. Clothes scattered across the floor. Nothing was more depressing but amusing at the same time. A beautiful but dangerous sight.

It wasn’t friends with benefits. Or enemies with benefits. But what are you supposed to call something that doesn’t even make sense?

One minute you were lighting each other’s cigarettes before blowing the smoke into each other’s mouths, lips softly grazing one another, prior to one of you getting up and leaving for their dorm.

It was so hard to force yourselves apart when it’s become an instinct.

Every night, 10 pm. You and him wrapped around each other.

You both remember every night clearly. First to the last. From the moment one of you initiates the kiss to the very last position you were in before the other left for their dorm.

You were waiting and waiting for the day that he finally said that it wasn’t just nothing to him. It wasn’t just a simple one night stand to you either. But something was holding you back.

Not that you didn’t want to talk to him about the situation, but the fear of being turned down always rushed your way.

So you tolerated it either way.

You waited and waited, every night at the Slytherin common room for the curly dark haired boy to show up.

It went from being 10 minutes late. Then it became 30.

An hour.

And no more.

Turns out, it was always just liquid courage.
