As stated in my last post, I cannot emphasize this loss enough. No matter what parts of the world we live in, today, fans who were touched are of like heart and mind.

Fujiko Mine in mourning–and I am not kidding when I say I almost cried in the last picture.

I know the news has gone around, but it is sadly true. Lupin III creator Monkey Punch has passed away. I am grateful he saw 51 years of this life-changing franchise, and even though I am less familiar with his other works, I am grateful that he invested in them all with an obviously strong sense of passion. I am no artist, and I am a mediocre writer at best, but there is no denying that what he added to his works was something that could touch all of our lives, one way or another. There was that raw ability to embed a real message into a seemingly impossible scenario, but many times was that made possible here. That’s what truly makes impossibility dead to me, and hopefully you also. Thank you, and rest in peace.

ANOTHER mass shooting in America, this time at a hospital in Tulsa. 4 people died, including this gnetle and kind doctor. Guess what weapon the murderer used? An AR-15, purchased legally hours before the attack.

HOW LONG WILL THIS GO ON?

saywhat-politics:

Once again, American children and at least two adults have been murdered en masse by a deranged individual with access to firearms. This comes ten years after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in which around twenty children were murdered, along with several adults.

Those of us who live abroad look at America with absolute disbelief, unable to understand how such outrages can keep happening again and again. Ten years after Sandy Hook, and we’re now having to read yet more biographies of children whose lives were stolen. And I bet it won’t be long before we read that the murderer had shown signs of violence before, but such signs were ignored until it was too late.

Clearly, American politicians and the gun lobby must bear responsibility for sacrificing children to murderers for financial gain. Their claims about defending America’s Constitution are nonsensical, since the Second Amendment has been a qualifiedright for some time.

Individuals with a criminal record are supposed to be barred from accessing weapons, background checks are supposed to be performed, as are mental health checks. Stop and search is used in areas with high assault and homicide rates, thereby depriving people of firearms that could be used to murder others.

Yet the one fundamental right these apologists will not defend is the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.Respect for human life is utterly nonexistent, which is why we keep reading about such atrocities time after time after time. Get ready for the apologists to blame the children for not having bulletproof backpacks, not carrying out gun drills, or blame the teachers for not carrying semi-automatics.

Each and every murder is a national and an international disgrace. It demonstrates that America not only has a gun problem, but a crime problem, which the police have evidently failed to overcome. The constant spate of murders in inner-city neighbours continues, ending the lives of many children. Nothing is done to deter the criminals.

Enough is enough. I hope that good people in America who are fed up with this wholesale slaughter of the next generation will demand immediate accountability for this and many other outrages.

Hi everybody!
I’m sorry, I should have left a journal sooner - I just got around to doing this today, as the last few days have been quite hard on me.
Still a little sleep deprived and feeling lethargic, but I have the energy and time to update, finally..!!

First of all, I just wanted to say a big big thank you to all of the people who helped me out in reaching my $700 goal for Ben’s memorial plaque!
We reached it so quickly and I just can’t get over how generous everyone has been, it was honestly so heartwarming to see…
I know this kind of thing doesn’t bring him back, but it helps. It really helps.

I told his Dad on the day (31st of March) and he was very surprised, and extremely grateful - I don’t think he’s used to that kind of generosity, and he wanted me to extend his thank you to all of you, on behalf of him and his family.

So thank you, thank you so much. My whole family thanks you as well.
This has been so hard on everyone who knew Ben, and this just gives me a little bit of hope that there’s still good out there, despite life taking such a hard turn for us.

I hope you’re all having a good weekend so far <3 It being Easter and all haha - please enjoy your days off, and try not to pass out on all that chocolate!

All the love and gratitude - Littlekidsin/Claudia

Rest in Peace, Neil Armstrong

Buzz Aldrin took this picture of Neil Armstrong in the cabin after the completion of the first EVA. This is the face of the first man to set foot on the Moon, just hours earlier, on July 20th, 1969.

Neil Armstrong was a quiet self-described nerdy engineer who became a global hero when as a steely-nerved pilot he made “one giant leap for mankind” with a small step on to the moon. The modest man who had people on Earth entranced and awed from almost a quarter million miles away has died. He was 82.

May Carrie’s force be with us. May we all be a little bit more kind, even when the world is not kind to us. May we all be a little more understanding of everyone’s individual situations and struggles. May we all be a little more open, even when what we want to say is difficult. May we all work harder to make the most of what life has dealt us. May we all be a little sillier, a little more willing to laugh at ourselves, take ourselves a little less seriously.

10thousand-kilometers:

Back in 2014 I experienced an internship at a hospice and I met this old lady who suffered from lung cancer. She spent her whole life working and studying. Everything she had left was her cat and one friend. One evening, we had a very long conversation about priorities and in that night she taught me that it’s about what I want and how I feel good and not about what anyone is expecting. She taught me how important I am myself and that there’s no one or anybody who’s any more important in my life. I asked her if it was her decision to end up as lonely as she was on that point of time. She said she didn’t decide to be lonely, but for that very short moment she made all of her decisions she felt alright. She was good. And happy. And that’s everything that counts. She told me not to worry about what could be one day. She taught me that everything I should worry about is how I feel right now.

This conversation changed me. It changed my whole mind. It made me start to stop cutting and hurting myself.
This lady is surely not alive anymore, but I can proudly say that she gained a friend before her death. Or at least she gained someone, who’s always gonna remember her.
And I wanted to spread her legacy. Her wisdom.
I hope you can find a sense for your life out of this short story.

May this awesome woman rest in the most beautiful place in paradise GOD could find for her.

I often find it upsetting when people post pictures of trivial matters that do nothing to comment on the state of racial relations in America with the caption “mlk died for this.” MLK didn’t die for you to get coffee with your black friend or listen to Kanye and talk about how hood you are. MLK didn’t die for anything, he wished to live. He wanted to continue his fight, he wanted to see the day when his tree bore fruits. He didn’t chose to die a martyr to further his cause. He was not guaranteed martyrdom. He died because of the very thing he was trying to fight: hatred and racism. He died because a white man hated him.

Well-said. MLK would’ve preferred to live to see his legacy, and to provide for his children and grandchildren - not to become a martyr.

Ayrton Senna da Silva was a prolific Formula One driver whose often emphatic victories and consistently brilliant performances not only immortalized his name in the racing world, but created a legend that would change Formula One forever.
His career, spanning a ten-year length, was tragically cut short by an accident at the infamous 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. His death, whose anniversary is being commemorated today, came as a stunning shock to the racing world. Senna’s death caused sweeping changes to Formula One regulations and even changed the safety philosophies of many premier racing organizations across the world.
(Senna’s being tended to on-site immediately following the crash)
Senna came from a wealthy family who readily funded his life-long ambition: racing. From a young age, Senna dedicated himself to this ambition, one that culminated in 1984, when then rookie Ayrton Senna got his first shot at Formula One racing with the small Toleman-Hart F1 team.
 (Senna in the Toleman TG184, c. 1984)

In his debuting season, Senna achieved three podium finishes; an impressive feat seldom accomplished. Getting off to an incredibly impressive start, particularly with his famous performance at the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, Senna was immediately approached with many offers. Ultimately, he chose the more experienced Lotus F1 Team, which already had championships under its belt.
With the more prepared and experienced team, Senna achieved his first win by the second race of the 1985 season with a dazzling performance at the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix.

(Senna at the ‘85 Portuguese Grand Prix)

Following the momentous victory, there was no question in anybody’s mind that Senna was going to be a fierce driver with championship contention in years to come.

With the Lotus F1 team, however, Senna was in no condition to win a championship; though consistently dishing out great performances, it was Lotus that failed Senna. After facing consistent technical problems, albeit managing several wins and podium positions, Senna left Lotus by 1988, coming closest to championship victory with them in '87 with a 3rd place finish at the end of the season.

With the McLaren Formula One team, Senna was in a great position for the Driver’s championship in 1988; being partnered with respected World Champion Alain Prost proved to be the only downside of the deal, as friction between the two greats created a legendary rivalry. After a momentous 1988 season, wherein the two drivers competed fiercely for the world championship, Ayrton Senna finally achieved one of his foremost dreams: winning the Driver’s Championship.

(Senna at the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix)

In the 1989 season, however, teammate Alain Prost narrowly took the driver’s championship.

By 1990, the rivalry between Senna and Prost had grown so strong that Prost had abandoned the McLaren Formula One team, instead signing with the legendary Ferrari Formula One team.

(Ayrton Senna chasing Alain Prost c. 1990)

After one of Senna’s greatest season performances, he ultimately took the championship title in 1990.

1991 was a year dominated almost entirely by Senna and the McLaren F1 team; Senna took a victory or podium finish in all but four races in that season and he managed championship victory over Nigel Mansell by a wide margin.

The 1992 season was Senna’s worst since his time with Lotus and Toleman, as he finished fourth in the driver’s championship, being outperformed by then rookie Michael Schumacher for third place. Much to Senna’s dismay, it was not his own failings that got him the bad finish.

(Senna at the 1992 Monaco Grand Prix)

During the 1992 season, technical issues with Senna’s car forced him to retire from seven different races. After the disappointing season, rumors about Senna abandoning McLaren were rampant, but he ultimately signed with them again in 1993.

The 1993 season resulted in a much closer finish for Senna, but the new Williams cars were incredibly technologically advanced, featuring such driver aids as Traction Control, Launch Control, Active Suspension and Automatic Drag Reduction systems (DRS today). Rival and former teammate Alain Prost took the championship that year.

Frustrated with his performance in the 1993 season, Senna signed with the Williams Formula One team; 1994 regulations banned the driver aids and technologies that had made the cars so dominant in 1993. This caused very unstable hadling for Senna’s car, causing him to retire from the first two races of the season.

(Senna Leads in the first race of the '94 season, the Brazilian Grand Prix

Then came the San Marino Grand Prix, which was a controversy in and of itself. Following the death of Roland Ratzenberger during qualifying, many began to argue for the race’s cancellation. The race went on, and on the seventh lap of the race, Senna’s car experienced a catastrophic suspension failure whose cause is still disputed today. His car veered off course at the Tamburello corner at 195MP/H and he hit the wall at 135MP/H.

He was airlifted to a hospital in Bologna, but was declared brain dead. He died after life support systems were disengaged.

Rest In Peace, Ayrton Senna Da Silva; 1960-1994.
