Cherubim

‘The cherubim are winged creatures, but the form of them does not resemble that of any living creature seen by man’ (Josephus).

They signify presence of divinity and are guardians of the sacred and of the threshold.

As tetramorphs cherubim are the quaternary of elemental powers guarding the centre of Paradise which is inaccessible to the unregenerate man.

They combine the bull (Taurus), lion (Leo), eagle (Scorpio), and man (Aquarius), symbolizing the four elements, the four corners of the earth and, in Christianity, the four Evangelists.

After the Seraphim they are the highest of the nine orders of angels.

In heraldry a cherub is depicted as a child’s head (purity and innocence) between a pair of wings (spiritual nature).

Yahweh is 'enthroned’ upon the cherbuim’ (I Sam. 4,4).

The throne of the Temple of Jerusalem in the Holy of Holies was flanked by two cherubim and the throne was formed by their wings.

• El Shaddai:“God Almighty.” Stresses God’s loving supply and comfort; offers His power as the Almighty one standing on a mountain and who corrects and chastens (Gen. 17:1; 28:3; 35:11; Ex. 6:31; Ps. 91:1, 2).
• El Elyon: “The Most High God.” Stresses God’s strength, sovereignty, and supremacy (Gen. 14:19; Ps. 9:2; Dan. 7:18, 22, 25).
• El Roi: “The Living One who sees me.” God sees us when we are far from home; He meets us where we are and gives us a future and a hope. (Genesis 16:1-16.)
• Yahweh Yireh: “The Lord will provide.” Stresses God’s provision for His people (Gen. 22:14).
• Yahweh Nissi:“The Lord is my Banner.” Stresses that God is our rallying point and our means of victory; the One who fights for His people (Ex. 17:15).
• Yahweh Shalom:“The Lord is Peace.” Points to the Lord as the means of our peace and rest (Jud. 6:24).
• Yahweh Sabbaoth:“The Lord of Hosts.” A military figure portraying the Lord as the Commander of the armies of heaven (1 Sam. 1:3; 17:45).
• Yahweh Ro’hi: “The Lord my Shepherd.” Portrays the Lord as the Shepherd who cares for His people as a shepherd cares for the sheep of his pasture (Ps. 23:1).
• Yahweh Tsidkenu: “The Lord our Righteousness.” Portrays the Lord as the means and source of our righteousness (Jer. 23:6).
• Yahweh Shammah: “The Lord is there.” Portrays the Lord’s personal presence (Ezek. 48:35).
• Yahweh Elohim Israel: “The Lord, the God of Israel.” Identifies Yahweh as the God of Israel in contrast to the false gods of the nations (Jud. 5:3.; Isa. 17:6).

My children, continue the struggle to draw near to the Lord even if you do not hear His voice.  Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, more widely known as Mother Teresa of Calcutta, did not hear from God for sixty years, yet she maintained faithfulness, enduring trust, in Him.  Questions and doubts may arise - endure anyway.  Challenges in your life and in your walk with God will come - persist anyway.  

If you stand firm, persecution will come, but please never give up, never quit… do not allow bitterness to corrupt your heart.  Seek Him for comfort, for purpose, and for answers.  Even if you do not receive a response, sustain in your walk with the Lord.  No matter how difficult the Way, the struggle, the fight, the race, may be…persevere.  Trust Him.  Trust Him for salvation and Life.  Know that persecution and pain will come if you stand with His Anointed One (Revelation 2:9-10), but He will be there to help you every step of the way (2 Corinthians 12:7-10).  He will be with you even if the test means the death of your body.”

Hope:
I desire to be a person who has contagious hope. At times I have been described as being unrealistic or living in a fantasy world. I think people underestimate the power of hope and how it affects your life. For the past 6 months or so I have felt my hope under attack and at first I didn’t really realize that was what was happening. Negativity is too easy to find and disappointment can breed despair. Hopelessness will keep you stagnant and guarded as you try your best guard yourself from being disappointed. But I want to encourage you to get to get crazy hopeful. Wake up and expect that goodness and mercy will follow you. Expect that God will be with you and make you successful. Expect a life better than you can dream. And even when life beats you up and everything in you tells you that you have no reason to be hopeful. Hold on and hope anyway. Because at the end of the day we have an incorruptible hope in Jesus Christ. If ever that feels like it’s not enough I encourage you go back to those moments with Christ when you felt like you could take anything this world could throw at you. If you never had those moments I would love to share my hope with you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help I would love to talk, pray, or encourage you. Praying for you lovelies! Hold on and get your hopes up!

Reading this today I was overwhelmed by the extravagant goodness of our God. There are no prerequisites to a relationship with God… no worries that you won’t be accepted… no long distances to travel just to get to him… God says call on him and you will be saved. How can this be so easy when everything else in life is so hard? Because it wasn’t easy. It was the hardest thing God ever had to do. To leave heaven and become a man to live among his creation. To endure the pain and suffer of the cross… taking upon himself the full wrath of God… and yet the Bible says he endured all this for the joy set before him. Jesus did the hardest work and he removed every obstacle that could ever keep you from him. No matter the time, place, or circumstances in your life Jesus says all who come to him will be saved. All you have to do is call on Jesus and he promises He will come and never leave you.

So Can and I were walking through the Natural History Museum. When Can asked “Would you like to know the secrets of the world?” “Of course.” I said “The Bible says you can ask the Lord and he will tell you things you can’t possibly know…. I’ve prayed that verse many times”
Can asked “What do you want to know?”
“Lol I don’t even know what to ask because the Bible says I can’t possibly know.” I said

Now when I’ve prayed this verse in the past I’ve always thought that the Lord was gonna give me the cure to cancer or something like that. But this day the Holy Spirit reminded me of the verse in Matthew 16 where Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ. Jesus then tells him that he knows this because the Father has revealed it to him.

Now what is the greatest mystery in the universe???? TO KNOW GOD!!! Suddenly I realize that God has answered this prayer so many times as he had continued to reveal more of himself to me …something that is too big and impossible for me to know….AND that he wishes to share more secrets about himself. Now can this verse apply to other things I’m sure but to know more of Jesus means to know more about everything. Man I just love those lightbulb moments with Jesus. ☺️

This season of my life I have truly seen Gods Great Grace. Every time I deserved less, but God did exceeding above what I could ask, think, or imagine. Jesus my praise is inadequate to describe the breadth of your goodness. You have proven your faithfulness time and time and time again. As I prepare to marry my best friend in just 10 days you have done it again. It wouldn’t even be possible if you didn’t love me so much. Where there was lack you provided. Where there was doubt you brought peace. Where there was fear you gave me love. 2017 has been a whirlwind year for me. Filled with so many wonderful things and some really hard things. God has answered some of my greatest prayers and I’m am so thankful. Through everything that has happened God has proven his faithfulness over and over. There are still a few days left in 2017, and I’m still excited to see what else God has in store. Try not to be so hasty to jump into next year, and trust God in his process even when it sucks. When I reflect on the hard things I’ve had to endure I am amazed by my future. I know that all these things are doing a greater work in me that is preparing for the wonderful plan God has for my life. Happy 2017 lovelies…never fear God is with you!

For the past few months this is something I’ve had to remind myself of every single day…. especially with so many unknown variables in my life. I mean how can I be sure of which way to go when I don’t even know the destination? And so I cling to the one who does. I’ve had to remind myself to take it one day at time…to trust that that my Father is guiding me even in the littlest details. That although the way ahead is unclear my God lives above the clouds. He has never left me …nor will he ever…and the depths of his love I will never reach. Psalm 139 says “O LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do]; You understand my thought from afar.” So I guess in the end it doesn’t matter so much where I’m going or how I’m getting there so long as he is with me. Lord help me to enjoy every day of this journey. In Jesus name amen.

I love this quote….but sadly rather than seeing my problems as an opportunity for growth so often I see them as a hindrance. Everyday I wake up with a list of all the things I wish God would change in my life.
