I decided to draw the generic enemy sniper seen in Fire Emblem Echoes for the Fire Emblem Compendium’s generic unit challenge! I thought these guys were cool looking almost right away. I really can’t put my finger on why I think so, but I’m glad I decided to make some fanart at least once! c:
#Shikigami Tengu - Ninja. Tengu live high in mountainous regions using their wings to fly. They don’t serve willingly as a Shikigami but, if an individual can sneak up to one in its roost, exceptions have occurred. Wielding massive bows, they can been seen atop the enormous pagoda style roofs at shrines.

This one was pretty fun to paint. I wanted the Yokai realm to be a night time setting with a brilliant moon in the sky and aurora type occurrences a regular feature. Inspiration was taken from the Ashina Castle in Sekiro.

#Shikigami Tengu - Ninja. Operating from high vantage points, a ninja uses their mobility to provide overwatch capabilities to their shrine. Employed as a more discreet form of security, they observe shrine visitors and Yokai from on high. Typically paired with Tengu, a skilled ninjas presence should be imperceptible.

This one is another one of my favs. This one was done early on in the series where I was trying to get the look and feel together for the characters and their costume. It really helped set the groundwork for the rest of the characters after this one.

#Shikigami Jorogumo - Ninja. Using their charms and mobility, a Jorogumo silently hunts her prey before striking from the shadows. Able to spin giant webs of spider silk, they can also create traps and hinder their opponents. As a Shikigami they occasionally can be seen aiding their master in reaching higher vantages.

This one was pretty cool to paint. The idea behind the spider silk around the rifle was to use the silk as a stabilizing force. Like a mount. I don’t know the physics behind something like that but, man I love fantasy.

(Btw, this is literally my playstyle: the one sniping from an higher position, trying to predict wether enemies are gonna go a place or the other, taking down as many as possible, always an Omen coming to say hi…)
