cathyhookey:

For @thegoddessconference in Glastonbury this year I made these sacred Moon Maiden Bee pendants as gifts for my Melissa brothers & sisters. The Melissae are a hive of bee priests & priestesses who work to make the Goddess Conference happen, organising, carrying chairs, building fires, holding space, a team I’m proud to have been in for five years now! The shape of the pendants incorporates the moon as this years Conference centred the ‘Moon Maiden,’ as well as the sacred hexagon & the image of the Goddess, but each of the 30 pendants has a unique symbol etched onto it, the idea being that we are all one hive but still individuals within this shared space. I loved seeing which etch design my friends chose! Do you have a favourite? I chose the ‘Malin,’ a symbol from Sweden meaning needing to face struggle & setback to move forward.
I really enjoyed making these, so if there’s interested persons I’ll make a variation on them available in my Etsy shop.
Also feat. my chest hair. Whaddya think? (at Central Houston, Houston, Texas)

Cat

Its eyes being variable, the cat symbolizes the varying power of the sun and the waxing and waning of the moon and the splendour of the night; it also denotes stealth; desire; liberty.

As black it is lunar, evil and death; it is only in modern times that a black cat has been taken to signify good luck.

Amerindian: The wild cat portrays stealth.

Celtic: Chthonic powers; funerary.

Chinese: A yin animal as nocturnal; powers of evil; powers of transformation. A strange cat is unfavourable change; a black cat, misfortune, illness.

Christian: Satan; darkness; lust; laziness.

Egyptian: Lunar, sacred to Set as darkness; as lunar the cat can also be an attribute of Isis and of Bast, the moon; it represents pregnant women as the moon makes the seed grow in the womb.

Graeco-Roman: Attribute of the lunar Diana. The goddess of liberty has a cat at her feet.

Japanese: Powers of transformation; peaceful repose.

Scandanavian: Attribute of Freyja, whose chariot is drawn by cats.

Witchcraft: A familiar and disguise of witches; the black cat as the witches’ familiar is evil and ill luck. Cats and dogs as witches’ familiars are rain-makers.

Harp

Shares the symbolism of the ladder as leading to the next world. The harpist is Death. An emblem of King David in the Old Testament, and of Wales, and an attribute of Dagda, the Celtic fire god, who calls up the seasons and whose playing originally brought about the change of the seasons.

21 Day Challenge - Artemis

Day 4: What symbols/animals/plants/etc. are associated with your deity? Start out by listing the ones that you know. Then, do a little research to see if you can find more. In a separate list on the same post, list those ones, too. Make note of which ones you think fit and don’t fit your deity.

Symbols I know of: bears, deer, wolves, basically just any wild animal, cyprus tree, walnut tree, laurel tree, wildflowers, amethyst, moonstone, the color green, bow and arrow, quiver, the moon, and forests.

More symbols: Sandals, clouds, three pillars, blue sky, dog, guinea fowl, elephant, horse, dove, bee, anemones, flowering almond, hazel, ranunculus, honeysuckle, thistle, fir tree, jasmine, aloe, ginseng, lemon verbena, camphor, pearl, quartz, crystal, silver, turquoise, iron, aluminum, diamond, the color silver, white, red, turquoise.

To me, all of these symbols fit Artemis as there is a certain duality to Her that is both peaceful and fierce at the same time.

The information here is from theoi.com and from goddessgift.com. If any of it is false, please let me know so I can change it :)

LEOPOLD - Symbols

Every glance is dangerous

German artist LEOPOLD shows off his power poses in the music video for “Symbols,” his debut single. Decked out in glam-pop sequins and high heels, he owns the room. The subtle opening quickly picks up into a party track, telling the story of a chance encounter in a club. At the song’s best moment, his alluring alto escalates into Ariana-esque acrobatics. LEOPOLD recently opened for Big Freedia at Queerfestival Heidelberg and has more European shows scheduled for this summer.

“An ægishjálm I bore up before all folk… so that none dared come near me, and of no weapon was I afraid, nor had I ever seen so many men before me, and yet deemed myself stronger than them all; for all men were greatly afraid of me.“

The Eight of Swords

When you look over this card your first thought is “yikes! ” however, if you take a deeper look you find hope within a sticky situation.

This card talks about the restrictions we put on ourselves and being trapped by our own mind. In the card, a woman is bound loosely and blind folded. She is only gated by swords. There is fog in the background yet you can see the shapes of land. The woman is trapped, yet she can free herself if she’s willing to wiggle a bit and knock over those swords.

There is hope. The flowers depicted around the swords shows that.

So, what do the signs all mean??

As a witch and tarot reader I’ve learned to view the world as a bucket full of signs from the universe, the goddess, my guides, and any other spiritual aid who has chosen to assist me through this crazy journey I seem to have found myself on.

These signs, symbols, numbers, etc.. . They are all there to remind you that you are on the right path.

Ever see 11:11 on a clock? How about a song on the radio that really fits what you’re going through. Maybe even a post on Tumblr? These signs are there to help guide us and let us know that yeah, there’s some type of power out there that cares.

So, this is for you. The person trapped by your own self doubt, your own thoughts, your self - loathing; don’t let that negative thinking blind you from your soul purpose. Don’t be the woman in the card bound by self. Allow yourself to have hope and don’t ever think this life isn’t worth it.

Happy Saturday Everyone and Blessed Be! )0(
