In 2014, Russia annexed a part of Ukraine (Crimea) and since then has been funding and arming Pro-Russian separatist and terrorist groups that have seized Donbas, an eastern region in Ukraine. Russia has been funding a civil war in Ukraine, essentially. Recently, the separatist groups have been sending civilian women, children and elderly out of Ukraine and into Russia, but leaving fighting-age men inside. These separatist are directly controlled by Kremlin (the government of Russia) and they are how Russia has been leading a proxy war on Ukraine since 2014.
But now, Russia has sent their own troops in, which is an invasion. They are doing it under the pretence of ‘peacekeeping’, but this is an obvious lie.
Russia accuses Ukraine of aggressing on Donbas and on Russia, prompting the war on Russia and conducting genocide on its own people. None of this is true. Russia is the one arming Pro-Russian terrorists in Ukraine, Russia has been surrounding and provoking Ukraine with military, and is the one that has been spreading misleading historically-inaccurate misinformation. It’s what Russia did in Georgia in 2008 and similar to what Germany did in Poland in 1939.

I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned “forever” into the only acceptable definition of success.
Like… if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, it’s a “failed” business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you don’t actually want to keep doing that, you’re a “failed” writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, it’s a “failed” marriage.
The only acceptable “win condition” is “you keep doing that thing forever”. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a “real” friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a “phase” - or, alternatively, a “pity” that you don’t do that thing any more. A fandom is “dying” because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.
I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And it’s okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success… I don’t think that’s doing us any good at all.
Never be afraid to recycle an idea you already used for a finished WIP. Sometimes the idea becomes different enough with a different set of characters or a different setting. And even if it doesn’t, this idea may be your personal style, one of your defining themes or writing characteristics.
Like: you don’t look at Tolkien and go, “Here he is again with the elves and the languages.”

For the past 30 years Australian farmer Brian Harrington has been dressing up and showing off his Famous Ducks at the Fashionable Ducks Show, held during Sydney’s annual Royal Easter Show. I find the tendancy of miraculous fandom of comparing Marinette and Adrien’s trama and declaring that Adrien has it worse very concerning.
I don’t want to go into detail but in short I suffer from anxiety. A lot of it. Something it gets so intense it physically hurts and I can’t breathe.
I study psychology. All of my professors are psychologists. (Or so they claim because I study industrial psychology and there is no licencing for Industrial psychology in India so…) Most of my friends are either psychologists (or so they say) or psychology students. And every single time I’ve opened up about my anxiety issues, people around me have tried to figure out a valid reason for it.
Recently, I was talking to my professors about it, and he kept asking me about my family and if there was something going on. He concluded that, that must be the problem.
It wasn’t.
I don’t really have a valid reason to be anxious. And I understand that I need help but getting that help becomes so much harder when you are surrounded by a bunch of so called mental health professionals who want to find a temporary thing that was making me anxious at the moment.
So many people in the fandom want Marinette to have a valid reason and just stress from her daily life and her superhero responsibilities are not good enough. People don’t take Marinette’s problems siriously because she doesn’t have a good enough reason.
This kind of attitude hits so close to home it hurts and I hate it. Watching the show feels great because I can see myself in Marinette. Then I come to Tumblr only to see salt post complaining about how Marinette’s trama isn’t valid and how she actually deserves bad things happening to her. And it’s really truly sickening.
You know what is crazy. Marinette DOES have a valid reason to be insecure snd have anxiety issues. Yes, her family life is good but she spent years being bullied by Chloe before the beginning of the series. She dreaded going to school in the origins episode because she knew her life at school sucked. I mean, do we not all remember that Chloe was bothering Marinette and only Alya said something and stood up to Chloe. Mind you there is 16 kids in class and none of them said anything…. except for Adrien… who is also a new student…
Alya was her first friend. Marinette believed in lucky charms because she wanted good luck in her life.( The girl even has lucky socks. ) Overall, Marinette feels unfortunate, and her parents are aware of this. Her dad Tom made her the lucky charm that she can use when she plays video games and she gave it to Adrien to give him good luck.
In addition, Marinette is an over thinker which is why she can’t talk to Adrien at all. She even admits in Glaciator 2 that she makes scenarios in her head because it easier to deal with that than deal with the possibility of rejection.
The situation now has only gotten worse. Marinette lost her master and can no longer ask him for advice on what to do. She is alone fighting Hawkmoth. Yes, Chat Noir is there but after Chat Blanc, she is afriad to tell him anything. Remember she doesnt know how Chat Blanc started, she just knows that it happened, and Marinette os an over thinker. For all we know she possibly made up a hundred scenarios as to how Chat Blanc started. Remember the Kuro Neko epsiode? She made up an elaborate scheme to find a new holder of the cat miraculous because she cant know their identity just in case ShadowDaddy tries to attack. (It was a comical scene but the point still stands)
There are so many different ways to have anxiety. Having a dsfunctional family life is not the only way to have issues. I wish people would realize this by now because that is a dangerous rehetoric to have/promote.
I think that before I started therapy I was under the general assumption that if I didn’t share all my thoughts with my friends that = I was evil and a bad person. I thought that they had to know every little thing or emotion I felt, but for people with antisocial and/or narcissistic ways of thinking, sharing everything we think is just… so unproductive for both parties. Your thoughts are your own. They don’t hold any weight to who you are as a person, the only person that knows your thoughts are you. You choose how you present yourself to the world and you choose what kind of person you are through your actions and how you treat others. Communication about the important things is good but respect your right to healthy privacy, it doesn’t make you any less.
