I recently shut the door on my past. This meant saying goodbye to the majority of the relationships in my life that existed in the imbalanced pattern I had been taught to implement in my life as a kid: over-give and under-receive. Letting go of this gigantic burden has left me in between chapters of my life. One chapter has closed and the page is turning for the new chapter to begin. I’ve needed to give a lot of gentleness to myself as the external chaos of my life has forced me to take the steps toward creating inner peace. That way whatever is going on around me yields less power over my sense of security moving forward. I’m the one who lives inside of this body, mind and soul and that person deserves my love, focus and compassion the most. Lately I’ve been looking my reflection in the mirror and asking:

“how can I love you more today?”
“How do you feel?”
“It’s okay to few that way.”
“I’m here for you, Brittney.”

Along with implementing daily meditation back into my life I’m finding the answers to that which has been disrupting my peace. All by giving myself permission to finally solely focus on me. After spending 30 years of focusing on over-giving to relationships I felt responsibility for maintaining, the Universe has taken that responsibility from my shoulders and granted me this liberation and freedom. Now is time for me. ❤️

I’d never been so high on a mountain that I was above tree line. The pure energy up there took me to a deeper knowing within myself that abundance flows effortlessly. The trees don’t worry if they’ll receive enough water or sunshine to grow. They willingly take what is given to them and live the course of their destiny as it flows to them. This high vibrational energy on top of those mountains made me consider that if we merely open up to receive that which is flowing to us while we just be ourselves, we will be taken care of seemingly effortlessly. Trust. It is safe to be fully ourselves. - a message to myself and anybody else who needs the reminder ❤️✨

The way I have envisioned self-love in the past has been very different than the reality I’ve been guided to open up to over the past year. I’m realizing that it’s not compassionate for me to push myself to try to create something with others when that effort is not reciprocal. I realized it is compassionate to allow love to be a separate category that is not synonymous with relationships that feel burdensome or obligatory. I’m learning that self-love means allowing myself to create a life with surroundings that supports who I am, what I believe, and what I desire. I’ve learned that self-love means closing the door firmly on the past and the energies that are too resistant to move forward. New doors will open in the future for those energies that are not ready or willing to go through transformation right now- should they decide to shift into a higher version of themselves later on that is aligned with my truths. Self-love also means releasing responsibility or control to try to figure out a way to carry energies with me that are not holding themselves up. I used to think shutting doors was cold. Now I see that it’s the only way to move forward from that which is holding me back. Every time I wear this top, it makes me happy. I get excited to be able to choose it. Today I wrote a post on my blog about letting go of clothing that no longer serves you, including “goal weight” pieces you may be hanging onto in hopes of it motivating you to lose weight. Although this may be constructive motivation for some, keeping clothes in my closet that no longer fit in hopes they would again someday was detrimental to my mental health.
