With the protests in Minneapolis, now is the time to make your voice heard. Wherever you’re from, whatever your race, this is the time to speak up against a so-called justice system which allows innocent black people to be murdered at the hands of police officers.

Here is a link for anyone who is looking for ways to help. If you can’t protest, or if you don’t have the money to donate, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything. Sign petitions, call in to government offices to demand justice, email, text, share these things on social media. Police are trying to force an information blackout amidst the protests, arresting journalists on the scene. Do your research, don’t trust the police’s statements on this. They are determined to silence the people who need to be heard the most, and if you stand by and let them, you are a part of the problem.

For fellow white people, this is not about us. Stand by and provide all the support you can, but this cause isn’t something you can use to make yourself seem woke for one day on social media. Encourage people to speak up, go to protests if you are able to do so. If not, share links and sign petitions and get the message out. Do not make yourself the centre of attention, do not speak over black people, and do not stand aside and pretend as if it isn’t any of your business. Silence is compliance.

I am going to bed, but if any of my followers are looking for more information, you can follow my twitter @kuidore_. I’ll be posting a lot more about it there, and retweeting other resources that you can use to show your support for the movement. Do not be silent, if you are in a safe enough situation that you can speak out about this publicly, please do so. If you want and have to means to go out and protest, PLEASE do the necessary research to stay safe before you do. If you can’t do anything publicly without risking your safety, privately signing petitions or boosting content through likes or retweets/shares/reblogs is better than nothing.

‼️Biden 2020‼️

If we lose this election to drump fump y’all better be with me on this new thing I’ve discovered called “civil war”

elfilibusterismo:

i’m so fucking tired of international media reporting on the philippine election with the undertone of “poor uncivilized savage uneducated little brown asian country is so so sooooo stupid for electing a dictator’s son” as if there aren’t thousands on the streets protesting it, as if there isn’t electoral fraud, as if there aren’t people staying at voting precincts for over 24 hours just to be denied their right to vote, as if this isn’t a product of decades of US-backed imperialism and as if foreign powers don’t have a hand in this decades-long project of historical revisionism. if you aren’t reporting about the philippine election with these contexts in mind then don’t report at all because fuck you we do not need your pity nor your “help”

heeyunkist:

to all my non-filipino moots out there who probably have no idea what i’ve been sharing with my filipino anons right now,

OUR COUNTRY IS FUCKED.

imagine choosing a dictator’s son—whose family robbed many people’s lives, our nation’s funds, and even our people’s freedom of speech and expression—whose only platform is “unity”, faked his degree in oxford, has been jobless for six years, and is charged for multiple cases of tax evasion over a woman who has received a post graduate degree, is an attorney, is a strong mother to three daughters who are all successful, who has been the main proponent for the country’s solutions to covid-19, who is not afraid to take on any circumstances despite any hatred and judgement she has faced from misogynists, fake news peddlers, and misinformed people.

imagine choosing a mediocre actor and comedian who has no background in political science and law or whatsoever over an attorney whose platforms are evidence-based and are relevant to the country’s current struggles, just because of his looks.

i personally am worried for my future, and for the future of my fellow countrymen if this is the kind of mindset that majority of people will stick to. i am in pain. i am filled with anxiety about how the next six years will turn out to be for me if corruption and unjust governance will lead the country. though these might be the unofficial results of yesterday’s election, it shows everyone that people can be stupid and fucked in the head, letting themselves make the same mistakes they did decades ago.

stocks are plummeting with the spread of this sad news and the foreign investors are probably laughing at us right now. i know why. this leading candidate is banned in many countries for his crimes yet people are still voting for him.

the worst part is people believe that keeping a good character is enough to lead a country. sure, it is integral, but judging how people want to vote for an undergraduate and his evil upbringing, many people are starting to question if their hard work for getting a degree is still worthwhile, and this includes me.

i am speaking in behalf of many filipinos who are not satisfied with the results of the election. it’s very saddening for me to see selfish adults celebrating the “win” of a thief while their children are filled with horror and anguish.

fuck the marcoses. fuck the idiocy of the people of this country. i stand proudly to fight for what’s right and i keep my moral integrity in me.

HUWAG NINYONG IDAMAY ANG BUONG BANSA SA KATANGAHAN NINYO.

Anyone make this joke yet?

I’m here only to post this and air my heartbreak. I can’t do it on other social media sites.

My country is on the verge of electing the son of a dictator, and the daughter of a tyrant, for the two highest positions in the land.

I’m trying to keep the faith, but holy fuck is it hard to watch. Every time I look at the partial results my heart sinks just a little further.

If this worst case scenario becomes official, know that I voted for someone with integrity, and do not make my country forget its dark past.

tbh there’s a good chance that many who were raised in american schools don’t know this, but one of the sanctions on lgbt+ bodies which existed pre-stonewall (and after tbh) was what was called the “three article rule”. it was legally required that people would have to be wearing 3 or more items of “correct” clothing for their gender.

a person found in clothing that did not “fit” their assigned gender could and would be arrested. this law wasn’t repealed in new york untilrecently. the actual prosecution of this law has disproportionately affected trans women and women of color.

texas is beginning to create “anti-drag” legislations. pre-existing conditions have shown us the degree to which “clothing must fit your assigned gender” can and will be used to create unsafe conditions for lgbt+ and minority populations. labelling drag “inappropriate” for children isn’t just a first step towards systematic abuse - it is the assurance that the systematic abuse will occur. there is no population that will be made safe by this law; it exists only to create moral panic and further division. i’ve spoken about this a lot, but “think of the children” & “protect innocence” is a vile, white-nationalist stakehold which positions queer expression as being inherently “perverted”, “sexual”, or “deviant”.

legislation that corroborates the sentiment that “drag is not appropriate for children” is incredibly harmful not just in the immediate - but also because it sets the legal precedentthatanyact of gnc expression is inherently inappropriate and wrong.

read up on your history, if you can. and remember: we said we would never let this happen to us again.
