tw // murder, police brutality

A 15 year old girl named Makhia Bryant from Columbus Ohio was shot four times in the chest by police, just as the verdict was being read. She was who called them for help.

Edit: the correct spelling of her name is Ma’Khia and she was 16yrs old not 15. all this was confirmed by her mother Paula Bryant.

bee-tales:

Let’s just remember that her death isn’t a trend. It isn’t “hot tea” or drama. It was a traumatic event. It wasn’t a viral trend or headline. She is more than just a hashtag or a symbol. She was a living, breathing, person and the police had absolutely no right to murder her.

somethingaboutdelia:

So, we all knew that the police were a racist institution rooted in legalized slave trafficking to serve a profit-based prison system. I guess now they’re finally admitting it.

I know that “not every cop is a bad cop” and we need law enforcement, but frankly I can’t call any cop a good cop until they’re willing to cross the thin blue line, and so far, I’m still waiting on that to ever happen… Ever. And the fact that we need law enforcement and protection of the public are shitty reasons to try to excuse the violence and racism inherent in the current system.

I also feel like it’s worth mentioning that this year has been a very safe year to be a cop. You don’t have to look far to find that work related police deaths and injuries are on a downward trend. But please, by all means, keep going on about this imaginary “war on cops”.

The funniest part to me is just how clearly this moves shows the police and their supporters actively positioning themselves as enemies of black America.

When someone says “black lives matter” the only appropriate response is agreement. Anything else clearly shows that you consider black lives to be inferior. No one ever said other lives don’t matter. All we said is that black lives do. There is nothing which needs to be added to that. You can agree, or you can be a racist fuck.

There are other times when it is appropriate to mention that a group of people’s lives matter: when that group of people are also specifically being murdered en mass for the way they were born. That is the only time, because those are the lives that society needs a reminder for. Not people who are just butt-hurt that it’s not about them. Be thankful it isn’t about you.

That’s not what’s going on when the police start saying that blue lives matter. It’s a clear us vs them move aimed at the black community.

Seriously, what is this, the 1960s? I would have seriously hoped that the majority of people would have been able to learn by now how not to be racist assholes. Instead I get to watch and learn more and more every day just how many people are racist as hell and just don’t seem to know it.

here at elrondfucker69 we support the protestors in Hong Kong doing their thing! The People’s Liberation Army, cops and the Communist Party would look up at the people they killed and ask them to dip their fingers in water to cool the fires around them!

With the protests in Minneapolis, now is the time to make your voice heard. Wherever you’re from, whatever your race, this is the time to speak up against a so-called justice system which allows innocent black people to be murdered at the hands of police officers.

Here is a link for anyone who is looking for ways to help. If you can’t protest, or if you don’t have the money to donate, that doesn’t mean you can’t do anything. Sign petitions, call in to government offices to demand justice, email, text, share these things on social media. Police are trying to force an information blackout amidst the protests, arresting journalists on the scene. Do your research, don’t trust the police’s statements on this. They are determined to silence the people who need to be heard the most, and if you stand by and let them, you are a part of the problem.

For fellow white people, this is not about us. Stand by and provide all the support you can, but this cause isn’t something you can use to make yourself seem woke for one day on social media. Encourage people to speak up, go to protests if you are able to do so. If not, share links and sign petitions and get the message out. Do not make yourself the centre of attention, do not speak over black people, and do not stand aside and pretend as if it isn’t any of your business. Silence is compliance.

I am going to bed, but if any of my followers are looking for more information, you can follow my twitter @kuidore_. I’ll be posting a lot more about it there, and retweeting other resources that you can use to show your support for the movement. Do not be silent, if you are in a safe enough situation that you can speak out about this publicly, please do so. If you want and have to means to go out and protest, PLEASE do the necessary research to stay safe before you do. If you can’t do anything publicly without risking your safety, privately signing petitions or boosting content through likes or retweets/shares/reblogs is better than nothing.

What I’ve learned from the chauvin trial so far:

1. The officers immediately escalated the situation by pulling up on George Floyd with a gun and pointing it in his face

2. George was extremely distressed (understandably) and was begging for some understanding and a moment to gather himself - which he was not given. Despite his destress he did not resist arrest or fight with the officers at any point.

3. The police again escalate the situation by forcing him Into a car he was begging not to be forced into

4. George Floyd was dead when the ambulance arrived - meaning he was dead underneath the knees of chauvin

5. The paramedic knew immediately that George was not breathing when he arrived - giving reason that chauvin would’ve known he wasn’t breathing

6. The officers displayed gross negligence by not checking a pulse or administering chest compressions s

7. The police had multiple opportunities to de-escalate the situation and handle it professionally and failed at every single attempt.

Screw that. May someone kick his fucking head in and cause more damage to him than he did to Donna Levesque.

article about this sh*tbag cop: X

79 times in three and a half years.

79 times in 42 months.

More than once a month he was beating people and abusing his power.

Bruh you fuck up once as a regular employee anywhere else and you’re on thin ice. 2 more times and no doubt they fire your ass.

But thats the thing, they dont see it as fucking up. They see it as on par with everyone else.

This man is a violent repeat offender and should be in PRISON for dozens of assult charges.

@wilwheaton Are you aware that 50% of the victims of extrajudicial police killings are disabled? Silencing disabled voices for holding cops accountable for their actions against minority communities is just as discriminatory as silencing any other oppressed minority that is regularly victimized by the police.

And yet you silenced a disabled voice for questioning a Canadian policeman about their history of brutality against the indigenous people of Canada

Either you’re against police brutality directed toward minorities or you’re not. You don’t get to call yourself an ally and then play both sides of the fence.

I went and looked it up and yes, he did. And that’s not the only problematic thing he’s done - apparently he has a history of blocking people instead of taking responsibility for his actions.

Froma Reddit thread on this topic, in reference to a block list Wil Wheaton was using which blocked a lot of trans people specifically for being trans which he also spread around to a lot of other people in the film industry:

[ID: Comment from @barlowstreet “Didn’t he have a whole thing about blocking trans people too”

Valquoi in Reddit says “In his letter whinging about ‘I accept and respect their decision to suspend me, but waaaaahhhh they shouldn’t have!’ He said what he did (sharing a TERF’s blocklist that impacted and ended some trans people’s careers) might have been the right thing to do in the end. Because they got mad at him for it… ‘And for what it’s worth, the part of me that wants to apologize to the people who ended up on it by mistake is overwhelmed by the part of me who was attacked really viciously by a lot of those people and feels like maybe blocking them wasn’t such a bad idea, after all.’ -Wil Wheaton - Just part of another celebrity non-apology. He can fuck all the way off.”

Titangroupie on Reddit says “Considering he blocked me on Tumblr some years back because I pointed out he was guilty of stealing posts and refused to credit the OP even after they asked him to, he can kick rocks, in my opinion… He was my childhood hero and he publicly shamed me and then blocked me because I pointed out he was doing something wrong.”]

so direct action is not an option available to you. what can you do right now instead?

Be mindful of the content you’re putting on your social media accounts. Stop retweeting/reposting violent images and videos of black people dying. Know that content like this, even with trigger warnings included, can be very emotionally disturbing/distressing and yes, even traumatic, for black people navigating the internet right now.

Report any images and videos you see where protestors’ faces are visible/unblurred, particularly in content surrounding the lootings. Don’t retweet or repost these images and videos. This can be a death sentence.

I’ve been seeing asks asking why I stopped covering Amir Locke. Absolutely am not finished with that, however rn I’m kind of preoccupied with ww3 but I will be returning to the matter as well as bringing up several other black men and women who have been killed since Amir not only in the US, but also Canada, by cops.

I’m in midterms rn but hopefully I can have some information up by end of week.

THE FACTS OF AMIR LOCKE’S MURDER

I think something a lot of people are failing to realise here is that not only is it horrible that they entered and shot Amir Locke within nine seconds, and not only should no knock warrants be thrown out, but this specific no-knock warrant was executed illegally, which should be immediately resulting in extra charges on top of murder, and should make the murder charge even more easy to be placed upon them.

No-knock warrants in Minneapolis can only be executed between 7 am and 8 pm. Now they are coming out and releasing the official warrant, claiming that it was actually a night-search warrant. This is a lie. In earlier documents and press conferences it is referred to as a no-knock warrant. No-knock warrants and night-search warrants are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS. If it’s your job to know the difference and the importance of the difference, then it’s pretty fuckin hard to get that shit wrong.

So now that they realise that covering it up is only going to make it worse for them, they’re trying to change the narrative.

A list of lies:

- Amir pointed a gun at the cops.

- The officers announced themselves 3 times before entering the unit.

- The officers did what they had to do for their safety in a high-pressure situation.

- No-knock warrants are the safest option for not only the officers, but the suspect too, as well as the other residents in the building.

- This was actually a Night-search warrant.

- A no-knock warrant was deemed necessary.

The truth:

1. Amir had his hand away from the trigger, holding it a specific way that his dad taught him to so that he could show himself as not a threat.

2. No they did not announce themselves. In fact, I have never seen people open a door in such a quiet, sneaky way in my life.

Link to the video (warning: this video is not censored and is most definitely disturbing)

3. no. They did not do “what they had to do”. God stfu.

4. No-knock warrants are NEVER SAFE. And this specific no-knock warrant was ILLEGAL. also since this took place so early in the morning, most people would be sleeping and at home, and bullets can go through walls. So it was definitely not the safest option for anyone involved.

5. Was not a night-search warrant.

As you can see by them referencing to it as a no-knock warrant in official papers.

6. Actually, when the officers first asked for the warrant, they were denied it becuase it was deemed too excessive. What did these killers do? Drove to a different district to get the warrant from another judge.

They were told it was excessive and they still insisted on it.
