I was one of the first fans to visit Weta Workshop’s “Window into Weta” on the very day it opened. IT. WAS. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to take photos inside. Take my word for it - it’s totally worth going.
One of the first things my tour group did in Wellington, was stop off at The Weta Cave. Be prepared for a lot of face shots. I had to prove to myself that me actually being there wasn’t a dream….
The “If you were over 6 feet tall and living in Wellington in 2001 you didn’t have a choice my dude” is killing me, like I’m just picturing the LOTR casting directors running around Wellington with a measuring tape, black-bagging tall guys and shoving them into vans.
“You’re a Lord of the Rings extra now.”
“No! Please! I have a family! I’m supposed to work the closing shift at the Pita Pit tonight!”
“You serve at the pleasure of the Steward of Gondor now.”
I’m going to keep it real with you all; I have autism and I can’t enjoy things normally. I bought both of them when I was deep in my TDC hyperfixation and now I’ve come to regret purchasing them. Don’t get me wrong, they are gorgeous and extremely well made but they don’t fit in my collection and take up space I can really use.
Both So and Tek are 250 out of 400. I paid 780 euros for So [with import duties and shipping] back in the day. 480 for Tek.
I’d love to get back what I paid- if not, just make a REASONABLE offer. Offers via DM. Payment via PayPal only so we’re both insured.

I don’t remember where I found this picture, it seems to be early concept art of the boys’ uniforms. Virgil’s has obviously been modified during production but it’s interesting to see he was supossed to have two baldrics (more pockets for more equipement) and all of them except John had colored kneepads.
I’ve been wanting to see Tracy Bro concept designs for years, what a find!!

These are pieces from Weta’s senior concept artist Christian Pearce. He also made concept art of Thunderbirds 1-5 and their interiors, FAB 1 and Brains’ lab which are on his Art Station profile which I’m going to link below.
An altered version of the Virgil pictured is also used as a size reference for his Module concept art and a different illustration of Scott is used for T1.

I recommend checking out his work, it’s insanely interesting. As well as TAG he has a portfolio of concept art for loads of other projects that Weta was involved in.
