Valentine’s Day can be so much more than frilly heart shaped boxes and store bought flowers - make it a day in which we show gratitude to ALL our loved ones!
The HobbitxWeta WorkshopxRockLove Jewelry handcrafted sterling silver acorn necklace engraved with Gandalf’s poignant reminder that hope begins with “Small acts of kindness and love.”
Help the film snob in your life trick out their home theater setup. (Or even just their movie collection.)
We’re guessing this person on your list already owns a TV. (And if they don’t – or you just love them very much – we have a couple suggestions.) But there are other ways to help your movie-loving friend round out their home theater setup. If money is tight, why not go for one of Roku’s recently released media streamers? They come in at different price points, but we ultimately recommend them all. Alternatively, perhaps your friend could use a sound bar or a 4K HDR receiver for better audio, or a projector to make movie nights at home feel that much more cinematic.
Or, you know, you could just get them some Blu-rays. Just make sure you exercise good taste. Here at Engadget, we recommend Lone Wolf and Cub, the Horace and Pete digital box set and the Mad Max “High Octane” edition.

My newest dice design is heavily influenced by the same ancient Egyptian art that was also the inspiration for the upcoming expansion set for Magic the Gathering: Amonkhet.
The main shape of this ten sided die (D10) is based on two five sided obelisks, and the detailing shows the Nicol Bolas horns motif that is featured on a lot of cards from this set.
Two of these spindown D10′s can be used to keep track of life totals ranging from 1 to 100. They are available in a range of metals with different finishes. Check them out here.
I also made a smaller steel version and a plastic version, of which I will post some pictures in a later post.

After some justified criticism about the readability of my previous design for a Kaladesh energy die, I have made a redesign for it. The overall design is the same, but the numbers on the sides are a lot better to distinguish.
You can use this spindown d12 to keep track of the number of energy counters you collect when playing the Kaldesh expansion for Magic: the Gathering.
This die pictured is 3d printed in steel, but it is also available in a range of other finishes. It is part of a set of dice designed in the Kaladesh look.
This week (through November 20) FREE SHIPPING on my dice that were selected for the @Shapeways 2016 Gift Guide. Use code SHIP4FREE at checkout to make use of this promotion.
This pendant was inspired by the Magic: the Gathering expansion Kaladesh. It is 3D-printed in steel and coated with a gold colored patina. It measures about 44 × 15 × 15 mm (1.7 × 0.6 × 0.6 inch), and weighs about 3 grams. The pendant has an eye with inner dimensions of 1.5 × 3 mm at the top, so that it can be easily worn on a leather cord or other kind of chain (not included). You can also attach it to a key ring, dice bag etc.
The steel version of my design for a d20 locket also works very well as a key chain. I’ve been using one this way for the past few weeks now to always have a d20 at hand in case of an emergency D&D session :).
This design fits a standard 20 mm d20 as found in most polyhedral dice sets, but a larger version that fits a spindown d20 for Magic: the Gathering is also available.
